PALMDALE – The City of Palmdale and Point Man Antelope Valley are preparing to host the 5th annual display of the Mobile Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall for the Antelope Valley (AV Wall).
The AV Wall will be on display from 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6 through 11 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11 at the Palmdale Amphitheater, located at 2723 Rancho Vista Boulevard in Palmdale.
The public will have 24 hour access to the AV Wall while it is on display. Taps will be played nightly at 10 p.m. during the time it is on display.
AV Wall events schedule
An opening ceremony will be held at 6 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7.
On Saturday, Nov. 8 at 9 p.m., there will be a Candlelight Memorial Walk to honor the “AV 76,” the 76 men of the Antelope Valley killed during the Vietnam War.
On Veterans Day, Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m., the Antelope Valley Service Organization Association will host its annual Veterans Day Ceremony.
The viewing of the AV Wall will end at 11 p.m. on Nov. 11.
The AV Wall is one of only two mobile walls that are engraved and the only one laid out in the same design as the original in Washington, D.C. The display measures approximately 250 feet long and 6 feet high at the apex, and it contains the engraved names of all the 58,299 Vietnam veterans killed in action and missing in action.
From 2005 through 2009, over $100,000 was raised locally to build the wall. It was dedicated at a ceremony at Joe Davies Heritage Airpark at Palmdale Plant 42 on Nov. 13, 2009.
Point Man Antelope Valley oversees all aspects of the AV Wall. For more information, call 661-524-6408, or visit www.avwall.org.

William Nichter says
As a member of the Vietnam war who served in Thailand I always wondered if the wall contained the names of my fellow comrades who lost their life in Thailand, Laos and Cambodia in support of the war or does this just reflect the names of those who died in Vietnam.
Greg says
The answer might be located at thewall-usa.com/information.asp
ERIK says
God bless all of those men who served and died in Vietnam. There are many young men like myself who look up to you. You are not forgotten….
James Stouvenel says
It’s the camera angle. I zoomed it in. It looks dented from the camera angle.
brian says
Indeed its the angle, no dent
Brian says
Dent why would you say that? I hope its not a disrespectful statement towards the people that gave all.
Eric says
It isn’t. Take a look at the panel on the far right. Not sure if that is an actual dent or just a mix of light and the angle.
brian says
Oh I will ask my son who is working it if they plan on a repair.
janine says
they should fix that dent…
