Sorry it was so incoherent, but you know I come from the unclean masses of peons. The feds from start to finish should wrap it up in one year (LAPD SGT. Stacey Coon federal conviction 4/18/93). I see the good doctor’s on vacation. Of course the State AG could be done sooner and a conviction before the summer of 2015 or the state AG could get a not guilty( like Florida) & gets more riots. Then he/she can run & get political coverage from Al Sharpton.

Perjury charges in Missouri by special prosecutor? Let Lady Justice swing her sword & serve up Justice. Federal charges for lying to federal investigators in Ferguson pending? We are waiting, what NO action
callitasitis says
The state AG / Federal AG should have been on their A game from the very beginning. Perjury there was a lot of perjury going with numerous witnesses; let us see what the outcome is.** I believe that *everyone who committed perjury should be charge, let Lady Justice swing that sword. I agree with the black female federal judge it is time for grand juries to GO AWAY both in states and the federal system, NO more secrets. It should all on the table. I think that all trials both federal and state should be recorded and released upon whatever the outcome is. TRANSPARENCY for all. Remember the feds interview the witnesses also so it is a federal charge to lie to a federal agent. NO double jeopardy. So we can agree on something, WOW.
@ William
William says
It was obvious from the start that the prosecutor was up to no good and that’s what all the criticism was about, not the actual guilt of the cop.
The prosecutor went out of his way to make sure the grand jury found no probably cause. I don’t know why. Wilson retired anyway while the prosecutor is stil stuck with this on his record as having done a lousy job if not unethical.
The prosecutor put on a witness he knew was lying because she agreed with Wilson’s story which was in the news before she went to the authorities. He also put on unreliable witnesses to show that they were unreliable because they disagreed with Wilson’s story. What a sleazy prosecutor.
callitasitis says
@William
Yes I would agree that there a lot of sleazy going around, at the city level, at the county level, state level and FEDERAL level. My question is WHERE are those federal charges??? It is strange?? DR Rachel should be blasting the Feds (they watch MSNBC) on how slow & how long they are taking their sweet time since they have been there since day one. Did not your girl state early there was conflict of interest with the local prosecutor, so why did not the Governor take charge at the beginning? MSNBC commenters should be DEMANDING the Federal DOJ to move faster since they have all the FACTS and Evidence against the former police officer and all the lying witnesses in the grand jury. It is very quiet at the state and federal levels, WHY?????
William says
You do know that the feds work slowly don’t you?
MSNBC hosts don’t ‘demand’ things like Bill O’Reilly demanding that the mayor of New York resign and other such nonsense on Fox ‘news’.
You seem stuck on that one point and we’ll have to wait and see what happens. Then, will you accept what the DOJ does?
I have the sense that you will then criticize the DOJ if they do proceed. We’ve seen this before when some on the right complain about something not being done and then complain when it is.
callitasitis says
@ William
I can accept whatever Federal DOJ will do, can you? As if we really have a choice what they do or do not do. As for the Mayor of New York he can do whatever he wants , the voters will either re-elected him or not. I think he got bigger problems than O’Reily, calling for him to resign. Most political leader now a dates will NEVER resign any ways ever for criminal charges much less to political fallout, beside he got the largest police department just a little upset with him. So how that Missouri AG doing on his trial with his special prosecutor . You say MSNBC commenters never demand are really sure about that?? I do watch MSNBC I enjoy watching how the news is deliver by different news outlets. Do you???
William says
Yes, I can accept what the DOJ does as I am supporting that they continue with an investigation.
The rest of your comment was you just bouncing off the walls. It was nearly incoherent.
Read your comment aloud to yourself.

You must speak ‘callitasitis’ fluently.
William says
Can’t you read, callitasitis?
You ask if I watch other news outlets. How would I know that Bill O’Reilly is demanding that the mayor resign? I watched him say it.
It was right there in the comment you replied to. The point was O’Reilly’s ‘demanding’ something as compared to MSNBC and then you went off on the tangent about the mayor and the police force. O’Reilly calls for boycotts and resignations and firings all the time and that was the point.
I could have used any other example because the issue wasn’t about the mayor but about O’Reilly’s demands. That just went right by you.

@Jason
You do recall when someone here asked if you were “being intentionally obtuse”, don’t you?
It was when you were being a squirrel about that silly unfinished hotel.
William says
@Jason
Today’s Valley Press.
Lancaster unemployment rate – 11.3%
Palmdale unemployment rate – 9.9%
Jason says both cities are the same. Read it and weep, Jason.
You said you live in Lancaster and work in Palmdale. Why don’t you work in Lancaster if both cities ‘are the same, as you say’?
You lose again.
I’ve listed the differences before so I won’t bother doing it again.
Jason says
Back to the hotel again William? You sure like to beat a dead horse as well as ignoring things to try and make whatever point it is you are trying to make. Since you’ve ignored what I said about the hotel multiple times now, it’s clear you are just being ignorant for the sake of being difficult.
William says
@Jason
Lancaster unemployment rate = 11.3%
Palmdale unemployment rate = 9.9%
There is a difference between the 2 cities. Do the math, Jason.
Otherwise, the rates would be the same.
Truth Hurts says
William, don’t bring up Lancaster’s crime rate. Despite spending ten million on the spy plane and pumping birdies chirps on the BLVD, Lancaster remains the king of crime under Rex.
Jason says
What point are you trying to make now bringing up unemployment rates?
William says
Now, Jason.
You’ve said both cities are the same.
They aren’t. Everything has to be explained to you and still………
Jason says
William now you’re lying to try and make a point. I’ve never said the cities are the same yet this isnt the first time you’ve tried to tell me that I have. So that whole remark about things needing to be explained to me is quite hilarious considering the fact that you are making things up.
William says
@Jason
This isn’t the first time I’ve pointed it out to you since you first said it months ago.
You just have no memory.
Remember how you’ve said that both political parties are same too?
We’ve gone over this before and now you’re lying about it.
Jason says
When did I say both cities were the same? I stay out of the city bashing you do but hey keep trying to out words in my mouth.
And shocker that you bring up me thinking both parties are the same. Keep beating that dead horse like you do everything else while ignoring why I say both parties are the same. I’d explain it to you once again but I’m pretty positive you’d ignore it once again like usual.
The only one lying here is you but hey keep trying.
William says
So, Jsson
What were your responses months ago when I pointed out the differences in the 2 cities such as
Palmdale has a lower unemployment rate
Palmdale has a lower crime rate
Palmdale has higher property values
Palmdale has better leadership
Palmdale has more retail, dining and recreationsl sites
Palmdale has a better bond rating
Palmdale has a better future as far as being a transportation center.
and so on.
I guess you agree then.
Jason says
I don’t know what my responses were because I don’t recall ever being involved in a conversation about the differences in the two cities. Like I said, I stay out of the city bashing you do.
lol says
Jason, William calls you out on the regular and you keep falling for it. Can’t you just ignore him? This is getting old, move on. He just wants someone to fight with.
William says

I think you got it backward.

After one protracted discussion someone asked Jason if he was being ‘intentionally obtuse’. I have had the same thought about him.

Fox ‘news’ has trained its viewers well to:
-constantly boost about its ratings
-trash other news outlets but is thin-skinned about criticism of Fox
-repeat the ‘fair and balanced’ and ‘unbiased’ falsefhoods
-repeat the BS about how Fox reports what other outlets don’t but never the reverse.
Why would a news outlet have to constantly tell you that it’s ‘fair and balance’. Wouldn’t that be obvious to an intelligent viewer?
Of course, Fox viewers aren’t intelligent viewers. They continue to repeat lies that have been debunked over and over.
William says
I was reading comments on another site about Sony pulling The Interview from theaters.
There were a lot of stupid comments about how bad they wanted to go see it anyway, written before it was pulled.
The best comment was this one.
“I’m confused.
Upon seeing the previews I thought it was the hackers who were threatening to release the film.”
I suspect Franco’s and Rogen’s careers are over if these threats are serious. They might do the same with any future films from those two even if it’s a rom-com or a remake of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Plans for a North Korea movie starring Steve Carell are scrapped.

SHALOM
21st District Resident says
I’m not sure if I’m the only one baffled by this strange “Draft Sharon Runner,” I hesitate to call it a “movement.” This is the same Sharon Runner who quit in the middle of her term because she couldn’t breathe due to a double-lung transplant. I have a feeling that it is an unintentionally cruel effort on some political operatives to guilt her into running for office because they don’t like Jim Ledford. This is a terrible shame considering Ms. Runner’s obvious bad health, and they should be ashamed of themselves. If, however, this is some kind of manipulative effort to make it appear that there’s some sort of “grass-roots” effort to encourage her to run, that speaks very poorly of her leadership. If she doesn’t have the *ahem* balls to run under her own steam, then that speaks poorly of her leadership ability.
Bottom line, this whole farce needs to stop. Sharon Runner needs to pull these jokesters aside and tell them that this is undignified and just tarnishes her legacy of public service. Hopefully someone gets the memo!
AV Observer says
Welcome to the wacky, wild world of AV politics. Talk about a dilemma. The Lancaster Political Machine has been trying for years to get rid of Ledford so they can control and absorb Palmdale and siphon off its growing tax base. They floated the idea of running R. Rex Parris and Marvin Crist which went over like lead balloons. So now what? Having failed to crush Ledford at doing so at every turn, including a voting rights lawsuit which is yet to be resolved, they now have the chance to be rid of him, but at what cost? If they move him to the state senate he is out of their hair in Palmdale and they can try to control the politics. But that means they would have to deal with him as their state senator. Oh the tragedy! Out of desperation the Lancaster Political Machine is floating the Draft Sharon Runner idea. What will happen? Tune in next time for another exciting episode of the Lancaster Political Machine.
William says
Today’s Valley Press front page showed that Kinkisharyo is turning out their rail cars.
I think Mayor Ledford has produced enough positive results for Palmdale to run on as a state senator. I don’t think Rex will run. Too many people dislike his big fat mouth.
And, I don’t think he’ll run again as mayor.. It would kill him to be mayor while Mayor Ledford is a senator.
Every time Rex sees the name ‘Senator James Ledford’ in the news, he’ll have to change his adult diaper. I’m gonna buy some stock in Depends.
Rex wants the Palmdale council elections by district so he can buy one and put in one of his guys. It will be cheaper than financing an at large council member.

If she does, she has my vote.

Where’s the ‘bird’. I worry that she got into the cooking sherry and destroyed her computer when she can’t come up with any good retorts.
it must frustrate the heck out of her.
She might want to Google ‘great retorts’ since she can’t think for herself. Just copy and paste. I won’t tell.
bird says
I know there are at least five people you have falsely accused of getting into the cooking sherry. That is an odd accusation William, so because you accuse others of having a problem drinking swill, I can only assume that your deflecting the real issue, and that you are the one that is actually drinking that cheap stuff. Of course, this explains your behavior! Get help William! You’re obviously not an original thinker, since you have to Google what you’re going to say.
bird says
I am ashamed that I allowed myself to get drawn into vicious pettiness with you William. Like so many before me that realize that any interaction with you leads to just plain ugliness, and is non-productive and needs to be cut off, I shall do the same. From now on any comments I make will have nothing to do with you.
William says
@bird
You come here all ready loaded with pettiness. Why should it bother you?
You’ve accused me and at least one other of needing ‘anger management’ so by your insane logic, that would apply to you since it’s on your mind. And, your comment just reeks of anger and ugliness as usual. Hypocrite.
I told you that I’m from Greek heritage and know the root meanings of many words used in English that are from the Greek language. So, I didn’t have to look it up. I already knew the definition. But, like I’ve said below, “You just make things up”.
But, you were so insanely upset, you missed it. You eyes were probably splayed out from you anger and bitterness.
But, you deflected from my point that you were ‘judging’ someone’s appearance and then mistakingly concluded that ‘judging’ = ‘insulting’. It doesn’t and it shows how primitive your thinking is. You just make stuff up. You do it all the time to change the subject when you’re caught spreading it thick.
Like I said, you are frustrated because you can’t come up with any better retorts than “so are you”. That’s a low level of intelligence usually associated with children not old people like yourself.
I bet it annoys you that your comments are moderated because you can’t write the filthy stuff you’re thinking.

But, get this. The other day, she said I was ‘stalking’ her’ because I was finally giving her a taste of her own medicine.
Yes. She said that after a month of non-stop replies to my comments with no replies from me.
That’s why I keep calling her a hypocrite. Because she fits the definition so well.
She announced that she’s not going to reply to my comments any more. But, I bet she’ll compulsively find someone else here to ‘play’ that game with. She can’t help it.

Noticed the new businesses at 10th & Ave P that were supposed to open in time for the upcoming holiday season don’t even seem close to opening. None of the businesses listed are showing any info for coming to the A.V.
The Habit does have a banner up but nothing else.
Anyone know what is happening with these businesses? Any new dates for openings?
Reality Check says
Looks like the Dunn Edwards building is done. Saw a banner for the Habit. That’s more than what’s going on in most places around here.
William says
Consumer Report’s subscribers rated The Habit #1 in a list of about 20 burger franchises while McDonald’s was at the very bottom. And, deservedly so. I can’t eat their lousy food any longer.
It will be interesting how that works out when the 2 restaurants are in the same block. Will McDonald’s lose business on that corner?
I am surprised that McDonald’s ‘allowed’ Palmdale to put another burger franchise so close to them. The reason that occured to me is that there is a nice cafe in a shopping center diagonally across from COSTCO in Lancaster that isn’t allowed to sell burgers because a Carl’s Jr. in the same shopping center has a restriction on their being able to sell them.
I didn’t know that could be done but we’re talking Lancaster where things are done differently and typically not very well. I bet that cafe could make a great burger like they do with their other menu items.
John says
When the Habit opens, there will be in about a 1 mile radius these places for burgers: Tommy’s, Wendy’s, Habit, Carl’s Jr., McDonald’s, Burger King, Red Robin, Yard House, Claim Jumper, Chili’s and Applebee’s. Five Guys is looking to open on 10th West in the Target Center.
William says
It’s called ‘synergy’. Any one of those would do OK if they were located off the beaten path but businesses know that even with competition, they do better in a busy location with a lot of other businesses.
I recall that when it was announced that Dickie’s Sporting Goods was going to located at the Mall, people wrote comments here that said it would kill Sports Chalet.
I had to point out to them that Home Depot is about 2 blocks from Lowe’s, that there must be at least 3 or 4 jewelry stores in and around the Mall, Office Depot is a few blocks from Staples, Macy’s is a few doors from Dillards and Penny’s, and it seems like there’s a Panda Express every 3 blocks on 10th Street West and so on. There’s a wing place in the Sam”s Club center across from that Wild Wings place and it seems they are all still there after years during a horrible recession.
There might be many more examples of businesses that sell the same stuff close by other businesses doing the same.
I think what happens is that people who’ve lived in the Antelope Valley all their lives aren’t familiar with how other cities grow and develop over time. They do pretty much the same as what Palmdale has done and is doing.
Palmdale is also building a busy shopping and dining region on the Miracle Mile even without an actual Mall. And, it too, is attracting more and more businesses because it already has many.
If Palmdale does build a Latino themed mall on Palmdale Boulevard in the center of town, it will pretty much have all bases covered. And, it won’t be competing directly with the AV Mall and the Miracle Mile.
Greg says
Now now, it is not nice to point out the obvious. LOL
Mr fed up says
Some of those places can open a second location in Lancaster, there’s potential for more growth
William says
@Mr Fed up
Why do you suppose that most of those businesses locate in Palmdale first?
Take Chick Fil A. It’s a conservative Christian company that is closed on Sundays and would seem to be a perfect fit for the ‘Christian community’ of Lancaster which has slightly more residents than Palmdale.
So, why didn’t Rex impress them to locate there first with his holier than thouness that we all love to watch?
Mr fed up says
@william when we elect a new mayor, ” hopefully ” maybe Lancaster would be the first choice
William says
@Mr Fed up
You’re right about that. I’ve been saying stuff along that line for about 4 years along with many others.
Now, imagine you are looking to locate your company or restaurant in the Antelope Valley.
You meet with Rex Parris.
You meet with Mayor Ledford.
Who do you think the owner of that company/restaurant will decide to do business with? Who would you trust more after talking to each one?
Of course I’m biased toward Mayor Ledford but, gosh, he has produced a lot of great results since he became mayor over 20 years ago. He has something called a ‘charm offensive’ that Rex is completely missing in his DNA. Rex simply has an ‘offensive offensive’ and just doesn’t realize it. He thinks it works for him.
If you did any research/surveys in the AV, who do you think would have the more favorable opinion of each city’s mayor? Say you Googled each mayor’s name and read up on their statements and actions over the years; then what? It wouldn’t be fair to Rex.
I hope you succeed in electing a new mayor in Lancaster. I don’t really think Rex will run again. Too many things need ‘fixing’ in Lancaster while he has concentrated on his pet projects such as roundabouts and electric buses. I think he’s grooming Marv to take over so he doesn’t have to handle all the messes that still need attention.
Then, there are all the lawsuits. He even sues businesses in Lancaster. That’s not attractive to a business owner.
Most Lancaster residents drive and/or commute, so while electric buses are a good idea, I doubt that most residents will be excited about something they don’t ever use. I’ve lived in Palmdale 24 years and have never used a bus. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Do they have WiFi? Comfortable seats? Ashtrays? I don’t know.
Elizabeth Hubbard says
I have an answer for all of these police shooting issues and the answer comes out of Lancaster, but I haven’t been able to get any support. I have tried to do fundraisers, contacted people such as Gloria Allred, Dr. phil, community activists, etc. I can’t seem to get a foothold for my organization. But the mission of the rpgmlk foundation is to get I to the high schools and have assemblies to teach the children how to behave when they are interacting with police officers. Local police officers and schools can run a PowerPoint assembly in every high school in this country and teach the kids how to behave in a way to not get shot or provoke an officer into a standoff. I would also like to start teaching children about passive resistance (the loving way to win a war) in elementary schools and to bring the spirit and values of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Rosa Parks, and Ghandi into our inner cities. My website is rpgmlkfoundation.yolasite.com and I was inspired by a local officer involved shooting that could have been prevented. I appreciate any and all support, commentary, and feedback because I have not found a single person that will respond to me about my organization. It makes me wonder if the people in power really want these things to stop.
LindaS says
One word – COMPLY.

No You do not need to teach them how to “behave” the parents of these punks should have taught them RESPECT. Today’s youth have zero respect for adults of any kind. from the elderly neighbor all the way up to law enforcement.
callitasitis says
Respect/ obedience are modeled behavior at home by parent(s) who live it. If that was taught at home teachers could teach and not have to deal with trouble makers in the class, hallway and lunch areas. This leads us the problem in the street and the police. Sheriff / Police department is NOT the department of fixing the criminal offender and guess what the Department of Correction/ Probation department cannot fix them either. We would not need this massive Criminal Justice System “IF” parents(s) would do their JOB.
Forget the Allred’s/ Sharpton’s/ ACLU of the world are rock thrower s & taker; they are not givers or house builders
William says
Now that you’ve solved that problem, callitasitis, what’s next on you agenda?
callitasitis says
@William
The problem is a problem at home, I f the parents will not do their job. No one can fix it but an ounce of prevent is better than a pound of cure. No I cannot fix nor did I fix it but parents are welcome to invest (me/ love/ respect) in their own children. WE did both our adult children grad from college, working jobs with no LE problems, except for some traffic tickets.
William says
@callitasitis
It might be more useful if you told that to the parents in question. I’m sure most of us here already know that with a few exceptions and I doubt that they will be receptive.
What kind of parent are you that you didn’t teach your children to respect the traffic laws? It’s a matter of life and death. This site is filled with traffic accidents and resulting deaths.
OK, callitasitis. How did that land for you to read that? What was your reaction?

SO WHATS TO MAKE OF THIS? THAT THERES A TOTAL OF 737 PEOPLES IN 14 DAYS CAUGHT RED HANDED. OLE REX AND HIS TRUSTY PARDNER MARV SAYS THAT IN 14 DAYS WE’S CAN EXPECTS 938 HOMELESS TO BE RIDING THAT TRAIN TO LANCASTER AND NOT PAYING. SO IT LOOKS LIKE OLE REX AND MARV WERE RIGHT, RIGHT?
BAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! BAH HA HA HA HA HA HA! LOOK, CAP’N LANCASTER MAY NOT BE THE BRIGHTEST BULB ON THE BLVD CHRISTMAS TREE BUT HOLD ON TO YOUR BRITCHES FOR A MINUTE. IN THAT THERE REPORT THERE AIN’T ONE MENTION OF ANY ONES OF THOSE PEOPLES BEING HOMELESS. NOT A ONE. A WHOLE BUNCHES OF THEMS WAS USING THE CHEAP TICKETS FOR THEIR RIDE. AND NO WHERES IN THAT THERE REPORT DOES IT SAY THAT THE PEOPLES WERE HEADING TO LANCASTER. THEY COULD HAVE BEEN GOIN ANYWHERES ON THE SYSTEM.
BUT THE REPORTS DID SAYS THAT PEOPLES WHO IS RIDING THE TRAIN IS MORE HAPPY THAN BEFORE. I GUESS THAT’S WHAT $1.7 MILLION BUCKS WILL BUY YOU. THAT’S RIGHT. $1.7 MILLION BUCKS TO CATCH 737 PEOPLES TRYING TO BEAT THE SYSTEM. THAT COMES OUT TO $2,306 PER PERSON. HECK AT $1.7 MILLION THEYS CAN CUT THE FARES DOWN SO THAT MORE PEOPLES CAN RIDE. BUT ITS ONLY MONEY. JUST LIKE WITH THAT THERE EYE IN THE SKY. A MILLION BUCKS A YEAR FOR NOTHING. A MILLION HERE. A MILLION THERE. PRETTY SOON IT ADDS UP LIKE REAL MONEY.
SO THE PROGRAM WILL MOVE ON WITH MORE MONEY. IT WONT DO A DURN THING TO STOP THE HOMELESS PROBLEM ON THE BLVD BECAUSE THE HOMELESS PROBLEM ON THE BLVD WAS CAUSED BY THE SHORTSIGHTED LEADERSHIP WHO COMES UP WITH THE IDEAS TO PUT ALL THE HOMELESS SERVICES THERE AND MAKE SURE THE GOOD OLE BOYS GET THE DEALS ON THEIR PROPERTIES. WE WILL SURE HEAR MORE REPORTS ABOUT PEOPLES GETTING FINED AND ALL THAT. BUT IN THE END IT WONT DO A DURN THING ABOUT THE HOMELESS ON THE BLVD. THE BLVD WILL STILL BE THE HOMELESS CAPITIL OF THE VALLY.
THIS HAS BEEN CAP’N LANCASTER WITH YOUR LANCASTER METROLINK STATION UPDATE. AT EASE!

Yes, great talking points from MSNBC Lawrence. Yes it is not double jeopardy any freshman at college would know basic political science 101. My question is this, the State Governor and the Feds DO NOT need permission from a local prosecutor to conduct their own investigation in the shooting of Brown. The Feds DO NOT have to wait for the outcome of any county grand jury, this fact seem to have been over looked. The Governor could have easily told his AG to use a special prosecutor because he questions the DA integrity (If I recall correctly this DA even state so). The Federal AG is NOT restricted from any State law or process to direct his people to file their case. MY question is WHY the DELAY??? If either one of these AGs could have prevented the protesters (rioters) IF they had gotten ahead of this No- Bill. They both seemed to believe this local DA would fail in his duty. So why wait??
FYI for the public
The state of California has 3 chances to convict a defendant, 1 trial and 2 retrials, a not guilty from a jury end the re-trial process l. (OJ/ SGT Stacey Koon,LAPD)
The Feds can retrial as many as they want, they have no limits.

Your comment sounds like your are talking about Rex Parris and his behavior towards neighboring cities in the AV and his desire to interfer in Palmdale’s business.
Yet, you’ve never defended Palmdale and Mayor Ledford when Parris has tried to do harm to either one.
There’s always something fishy about your comments.

THE CAP’N AGREES WITH BOTH BIRD AND WILLIAM. SAY WUTT? HECK YES. BIRD IS RIGHT. THERE ARE MANY WONDERFUL, LOVING, GENEROUS PEOPLES IN THE COMMUNITY OF LANCASTER. THE PROBLEM IS AS WILLIAM SAIDS IS REX PARRIS AND HIS BEHAVIOR TOWARDS NEIGHBORING CITIES IN THE AV AND HIS DESIRE TO INTERFER IN PALMDALES BUSINESS. HE NEEDS TO MIND HIS P’S AND Q’S. HE IS A BAD NEIGHBOR, AND THEY THINKS THAT AS FAR AWAYS AS SANTA CLARITA AND HIGHLAND. THE CAP’N HOPES THE GOOD PEOPLES OF LANCASTER WILL STANDS UP TO THE BULLY AND TAKE BACK OUR CITY.

Hate never wins; it might seem so for awhile, but God’s promise is eternal, ultimately an eternal peaceful kingdom.

Hey, John
Just look around your city of Lancaster, a ‘conservative Christian community’ to see how well conservatives govern.
Lowered bond rating.
Half empty shopping centers all over town.
Businesses leaving.
No shopping other than Walmarts.
blvd needs ‘saving’ after only 4 years
Fishy elections in April even though voters wanted it moved to November.
Projects like roundabouts that Lancaster residents don’t want while potholes remain.
plus the ‘mother of all lousy mayors’.
Yeah, conservatives can whine, complain and criticize but they sure can’t govern. Look at Kansas which is in a financial crisis because a republican governor cut taxes on the rich but the stoopid republican voters re-elected him. And, they stole Starswood’s call center from Lancaster’s republican mayor who made out well by suing them on their way out. Lancaster didn’t make out so well.
So, republicans can’t run the federal government without a recession or a crash and they can’t run a city. Remember back in the 90s, when conservative Orange County went bankrupt. You guys always point to Detroit but Orange County is in the richest state in the Union and went bankrupt. You are so quick to forget.
The mostly red states are ‘welfare states’. The suck at the teat of the federal government while sending less money to D.C. than they get back in largess. Why don’t you complain about California having to subsidize those red welfare states, y’know the ones that complain the loudest about the federal government while depending on it to survive? Those are YOUR tax dollars subsidizing those red welfare states.
If those southern red states seceded, they’d be 3rd world countries on their own without the help from Uncle Sam.

Palmdale is a conservative Christian community, and Mayor Ledford is a conservative Christian. It has nothing to do with whether you are a Christian conservative. What matters is whether the leaders are morally upright and work for the good of the community, as Mayor Ledford does.

Did you vote for Mayor Ledford?
Do you live in Palmdale?
Why is that a secret?

Don’t look for something that isn’t there. Of course I voted for Mayor Ledford and yes I do live in Palmdale, less than a mile from the mall. I love the Antelope Valley which includes Lancaster and other surrounding areas. I am also aware that you try bait everyone so you can attempt to make others feel inferior to you. Your arrows can’t reach me. It is obvious that you have appointed yourself the town scold by calling everyone out about their opinions because they don’t match up with yours. I already know you keep secrets, so why is that.
William says
@bird
You like to write that you support Mayor Ledford 100% but where were your comments regarding the Palmdale Power Plant, the lawsuit by Parris over the at-large council elections, and other issues. I don’t recall you defending him or criticizing those who trashed Mayor Ledford either.
Parris and his ilk were telling lies about the Palmdale Power Plant both in hit mailers and at the hearing. Were you at the hearing, miss big supporter?
You have no credibility here.
Now, I expect you to reply that I have no credibility just like you say I’m a hypocrite because I gave examples of your hypocrisy. You always play the ‘So are you’ game because you have nothing, nothing at all intelligent to say.

William—You need to go back and again read the eyewitness accounts! Although there are conflicting accounts, the witnesses do say that Michael Brown was walking down the middle of the street blocking traffic. Officer Wilson told him and his friend to move to the sidewalk and he refused. Then he turned back around and came to Wilsons care and reached in to try to grab the gun, (not a good idea.) The Mr. Brown started to walk away and Officer Wilson ordered him to stop, and that’s when Mr. Brown turned around and came at Wilson in an aggressive manner, (6’4″ 279lbs.) That’s when he fired 6 shots, one striking Mr. Brown in the head. We already know he was a bully because of his actions in the store he just robbed, shoving the hardworking clerk around that wasn’t even half his size, Sense of entitlement for a box of cigars. Now you add deep-seated resentments simmering over a long period of time. This an explosion that was in the making for a long time, and I also have read about incidents that happened that showed Wilsons bullying behavior also. Now innocent people will pay, they already have.
William says
@bird
You complain that I write long-winded comments while doing the same yourself or even breaking them up into several medium-winded comments posted moments apart.
Like I say “You are a hypocrite” of the highest order.
Gowchong says
So the Grand Jury in Ferguson decided there was zero evidence of any wrong doing on the part of Officer Wilson. So called witnesses had stories refuted and it was found out they weren’t even eyewitnesses, but were just repeating lies they heard on the street. The forensic (scientific evidence) absolutely collaborated Officer Wilson’s account. Witnesses (Black witnesses to boot) collaborated Officer Wilson’s account.
Now the idiots in Ferguson riot. What will that accomplish? Jesse Jackson defends the rioters actions by saying “bricks don’t match bullets” and condones the idiots who don’t understand the blind justice accompanied by scientific evidence gave reason for no indictment. It proves Jesse Jackson is not up to par intellectually. If he was, he would re-direct his comments to support science.
Stinger says
I have read the post mortems that were conducted upon the body of the deceased and they all pretty much refuted the vast majority of ‘eyewitness accounts’ given to the media and tend to support the accounting of the incident by the police officer. I am awaiting further info on the case as presented before I take a conclusive position.
I truly do wish that more departments would embrace individual offer cameras to better document incidents as they occur. I know of a lot of LEOs who originally resented the idea of having dash cams on their units but have since found that those very same dash cams tend more to justify their actions that vilify them. Those LEOs are now ardent supporters of those very same cameras. I suspect it would be the same way with the deployment of individual officer cameras.
bird says
The truth is gone from this tragedy. Mr. Brown as seen at the store, bullying a hard working store worker not even half his size, and then walking down the middle of the street with stolen cigars just looking for trouble. Then comes the white police officer, and then the truth doesn’t matter anymore in a black neighborhood with generations of resentment built up against white authority. Now it’s all about misdirected rage, including burning down their own businesses owned by black people. The truth never really matters when you have rage within.
Stinger says
bird says: “The truth never really matters when you have rage within.”
I think we have found something to agree on.
William says
@Stinger
I suspect that the cop had ‘rage within’ when he fired the last half dozen shots at the unarmed Brown.
William says
Wilson left the scene, went to the station, washed up and put his discharged gun in an evidence bag himself. That is so improper. Legal analysts couldn’t believe he was allowed to do that.
The 1 witness that the presecutor mentioned in his 20 speech, who backed up Wilson, first said he was 100 yards away then changed it to 50 yards but, yeah, all the other witnesses testimony was inconsistent.
That’s just for starters. The whole process and the prosecutor and his DAs were a rotten unprecented mess. They made so many mistakes and likely deliberately ran a defense for Wilson instead of the proper role of a prosecutor before a grand jury.
A prosecutor doesn’t put unreliable witnesses before a grand jury only to call them liars later. That’s not his duty. He should be fired or worse.
Jason says
Eyewitness testimony is always inconsistent both ways. You had eyewitnesses that swore he was shot in the back laying on the ground yet forensics proved them wrong. You had the deceased’s friend say he had his hands in the air when he was shot, that was untrue.
You had several witnesses that that gave a version consistent with what Wilson said and forensics backed up, yet that is overlooked so the hands up, dont shoot myth can be perpetuated. Dorian Johnsons’s lawyer went on a rant about how his testimony was discounted while completely ignoring the testimony that contradicted his.
All the prosecutor had was unreliable witnesses once the autopsy results and forensic evidence came back. He put all witnesses that were willing to testify and evidence before the grand jury and that still isnt good enough for some people because they didnt come back with the verdict they wanted.
William says
First of all, Jason, I don’t think a grand jury renders a verdict as you wrote in your last paragraph.
The prosecutor discredited all the witnesses but the one who said he was 100 yards away initially and then changed it to 50 yards away. He would have been cross-examined about that in a trial but the prosecutor bought it.
The prosecutor was obviously biased and played ‘defense attorney’ instead. He did so many unorthodox things, he should fired or reprimanded somehow.
Early on, he gave the jury a statute that was declared unconstitutional in 1985, then during deliberations, his DAs gave the updated statute with no explanation.
Does that seem fair and unbiased to you, Jason?
Does it seem proper for the cop to leave the scene, go to the station and wash up and put his gun in an evidence bag himself, Jason? One glaring improper action after another.
And, that’s not all. There is a long list of errors and unprecedented actions by the prosecutor’s office.
A civil trial and/or a federal trial will allow some cross-examination unlike this abomination of a grand jury presentation.
Jason says
Sorry William, the grand jury didnt return with a decision to indict him on any of the various charges they could have.
Just remember, the cross examination goes both ways. Dorian Johnson would be on the stand and under oath. His version of events would be blown out of the water by forensic evidence alone and his credibility as a witness is already gone. His statement in before the grand jury that Browns arms were outside the patrol vehicle when he was shot would be torn apart by any competent defense attorney considering he said he got shot in the chest when the shot grazed his hand and there was blood and body tissue of Browns inside the vehicle. What about the others who testified and their versions that were disproven by forensics?
If theres a federal trial in this case, there damn well better be one in Utah or it just proves how biased the DOJ is.
William says
@Jason
All that stuff would be examined in a trial. The prosecutor isn’t supposed to bring on witnesses just to discredit them so that the grand jury won’t find probable cause.
Can’t you get that? All that witness testimony would be sorted out at trial. The prosecutor isn’t supposed to put on a defense for the cop and normally the cop (defendent) wouldn’t even be there.
In addition, the cop didn’t write a incident report and was able to ‘testify’ after he heard the witnesses and likely knew of the forensics ahead of time. He was able to tailor his testimony after he knew all that.
Does that appear to be a proper procedure to you, Jason?
The prosecutor didn’t do an honest job and that’s the point. There were too many errors and improper procedures for the grand jury to give a fair decision on whether to indict or not. The prosecutor just threw everything at the GJ. That’s not how it’s done correctly.
Jason says
Why does it not surprise me to see youre following the left media view of this.
Youre right, all that testimony would be examined if brought to a trial. The grand jury saw and heard all the testimony and decided there was nothing there that justified a trial.
The prosecutor brought all witnesses willing to testify before the grand jury. Is it his fault they told stories not consistent with physical evidence and discredited themselves? If he doesnt bring those people in front of the grand jury people would be up in arms about how all he did was provide witnesses for the defense. Nothing he did was good enough for people automatically convicting the officer before facts were even presented. Funny how the eyewitnesses that gave testimony that supported the evidence and Wilsons version gets ignored or tossed aside in all of this. What makes their testimony so bad that it gets ignored?
He was able to tailor his testimony to other witnesses and evidence? His statements have been consistent from day one, unlike others in the case, some of which admitted they lied to investigators. But hey lets put him on trial according to eyewitness testimony that is an outright lie. Would that be fair to Ofc Wilson?
Those eyewitnesses would be destroyed in a trial and everyone knows it but ignores it to act outraged at the decision made by the grand jury. Dorian Johnsons attorney was on CNN going on and on about how they just ignored his clients testimony while he himself was completely ignoring the lies in it and ignoring all the other testimony.
If it goes to a civil trial or federal trial these eyewitnesses will be given a chance to once again give their testimony and have it examined and in a manner that will hopefully appease you and the fairness of it all. Like I said, any competent defense attorney will tear that testimony apart from the get go and bring out every inconsistency in their testimony. And if they prosecutors bring forth those that admitted they lied, they would be shooting themselves in the foot from the very beginning.
William says
@Jason
And you buy that Wilson left the scene, washed up and put his own gun in the evidence bag and didn’t write a report and there was no recording immediately taken of his initial testimony.
The investigator didn’t measure any of the distances of what happened where and so on.
Normally, Wilson wouldn’t have been before the grand jury. That was out of the ordinary like so much since the beginning. The prosecutor ‘fixed’ it so the gj wouldn’t indict and it worked. The feds won’t be so sloppy.
That stuff needed to go to trial for a jury to sort out and not for the prosecutor to play defense attorney for Wilson.
I can’t believe how much improper procedure you’re simply willing to ignore. Unbelievable.
How’s your hotel doing? Will it ever be completed?
Jasson says
The feds wont be so sloppy? The feds would be stupid to go after him with the witnesses they have available. Are they all of a sudden going to pull new witnesses that can describe what happened to a T with video evidence to back them up? Had a jury trial happened, the evidence and testimony would have been the same and you expect a different outcome?
Why are you ignoring all the evidence and testimony that supported Wilsons side of the story? Yes it was unusual Wilson went before the grand jury, but it happens.
And I fail to see what the hotel has to do with this but Ill bite. Considering work restarted on it a while back, it should be finished in the near future.
William says
The issue is that the prosecutor played defense attorney and either deliberately put on a lousy case before the grand jury or he’s the most incompetent prosecutor in Missouri.
Wilson was allowed to present his testimony without cross-examination. That’s not how it works before a grand jury. The one witness he relied on changed his story but that was OK.
As usual, you are confused just like on every other issue. I think you do it on purpose.
Jason says
And what you continually ignore is that the prosecutor had nothing but a lousy case. How was the prosecutor supposed to build a strong case when all he had was stories from eyewitnesses that varied and came nowhere close to physical evidence. What strong case did he have to present to the grand jury? The testimony of someone who had just help the deceased commit a crime and had previously lied to police?
That’s not how it works before a grand jury? Who was supposed to cross examine him, his own attorneys? It was the prosecutors directly asking him questions. And the one witness he relied on? Werent there multiple witnesses that testified with versions that fit evidence and Wilsons testimony?
The Doctor says
What ever happened to Dr. Garrison after he killed several people on the Southbound 14 Freeway on July 4th, 2014. According to articles, he wasn’t cited and released. Did he get punished for the deaths? The story really just disappeared.

Some of Senator Steve Knight’s legislation for the year, and the committees that he serves on:
SB 415 Commercial Space Flights
Senate Bill 415 expands upon the “Space Flight Liability and Immunity Act” that was signed by Governor Brown in 2012, which granted civil liability to commercial space flight entities for a civilian passenger. As amended on 1-6-14, SB 415 seeks to strengthen the existing waiver that passengers sign in the event the unfortunate were to occur. Signed by Governor Brown.
SB 842 Veterans Homes Signs
Senate Bill 842 requires the Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to employ directional signs on the state highway system to each Veterans Home of California upon receiving funds from non-state sources sufficient to cover the cost to manufacture and install the signs.
SB 905 Assaults Likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury
SB 905 cleans up Penal Code Section 4501, addressing the difficulty prosecutor’s face when determining whether a previous conviction qualifies as a serious felony under California’s Three Strikes law. SB 905 does not create new felonies; it merely clarifies an ambiguous code section. Signed by Governor Brown.
SB 922 Disabled Victims: Sex Offenses
Senate Bill 922 expands the allowable sentences for the rape of a developmentally disabled victim, where the perpetrator knows or should have known they were developmentally disabled. As amended, SB 922 includes the same provision for rape, sodomy, oral copulation, forcible penetration, and continuous sexual abuse against a developmentally disabled victim. Died in Assembly Public Safety Committee.
SB 998 Large-Scale Aerospace Manufacturing Sales and Use Tax Credit
Senate Bill 998 provides a sales and use tax exemption to aerospace manufacturing companies that are determining which state to locate a yet-to-be awarded contract for large-scale government defense programs. This measure removes the current $200 million cap on sales and use tax exemptions of manufacturing and research and development equipment for use in a new aerospace project and increases the exemption to $300 million for three years.
SB 1074 Agency Accountability
Senate Bill 1074 attaches a penalty to any state agency employee who knowingly puts state money into a hidden account. It is already a crime to hide state funds; this measure simply ensures there is a consequence for those poor decisions by punishing the individual with a misdemeanor.
SB 1075 Government Transparency
Senate Bill 1075 requires Cal Fire to deposit into the General Fund any settlement funds received through its Civil Cost Recovery (CCR) program for reimbursement of firefighting costs. This bill further provides that moneys recovered prior to enactment and still retained by the department shall also be deposited in the General Fund.
SB 1113 100% Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption
Senate Bill 1113 ensures that disabled veterans who encounter bureaucratic delays can still claim a key tax exemption: This bill increases the number of years that 100 percent disabled veterans are allowed to receive property tax refunds, extending the statute of limitations from four years to eight. It also corrects a statutory cross reference error in the Military and Veterans Code related to this issue.
SB 1134 Public Transportation Advertising: AVTA
This bill creates a five-year pilot program to allow buses within the Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA) to display illuminated signs for advertising purposes. These signs would have the ability to change and scroll, based on specified conditions. A report would be due to the legislature and CHP on or before January 1, 2020, stating impacts and only goes into effect if University of California Irvine has NOT launched all 12 buses they were authorized to under AB 541 (2013). Signed by Governor Brown.
SB 1235 Breweries: Prepackaged Foods
Senate Bill 1235 allows breweries to be classified as Food Retail Markets thereby giving them the ability to sell prepackaged, non-potentially hazardous food items.
SB 1282 Personalizing Gold Star License Plates
Senate Bill 1282 authorizes Gold Star Family license plates to be personalized by deleting the requirement that the plates be issued only in a sequential series. Died on suspense in Senate Appropriations Committee.
SB 1327 Illegal Tax Refunds
SB 1327 provides individuals who have paid taxes that were later deemed illegal or unconstitutional up to one year to file a claim for a tax refund. This measure also requires tax agencies to refund these illegal taxes to individuals even if they do not file a claim. Died in Senate Governance and Finance Committee.
SB 1354 90-Day Response for FFL Applications
This bill would create a dealer permitting system that helps law enforcement attack the problem of illegal gun transfers and reduce the number of firearms in the hands of violent criminals. Specifically, SB 1354 ensures that the Department of Justice makes a determination on applications for licenses/permits in a timely manner. Died on Suspense File in Senate Appropriations Committee.

Thank you for posting this.
I noted a number of bills that died, instead of moving forward. This is usually due to the proponent not having enough support of the majority to get it onto the floor and passed. This is a problem that Lackey is going to have as he enters his term in Sacramento, as well.
I also noticed that none of these legislative attempts sought to bring any of our hard earned, yet easily taken, money back from Sacramento… Contrast this to the literally millions of dollars that our Democrat Assemblyman was successful in getting restored to our communities during his term of office.
Electing a Republican to a state legislative office is alot like peeing yourself in a dark suit… It gives you a warm feeling, but nobody really notices…
Our electorate just pissed itself in electing Lackey and we will be wasting another 2 years with another ineffectual Republican in Sacramento. Great.
William says
@Stinger
It’s my fault for asking what ‘accomplishments’ Knight has produced instead of ‘results’.
Bills that don’t pass are apparently considered ‘accomplishments’ by Fact Check. Being on a committee is an ‘accomplishment’???
That whole comment reminds me of giving every 3rd grader a gold star to no one feels bad.
A more useful list would have been all the bills Knight voted ‘Nay’ on but there isn’t enough room here.
Stinger says
You know, I am not even trying to say anything bad about Knight or Lackey (I’ll leave that to others). All I am saying is that it is very short sighted of our electorate to send any representative to Sacramento that will be unable to do anything for this constituency besides put an R after the seat being kept warm.
This is why we are treated like the ugly red-headed stepchild here in the AV. We keep sending Republican lame ducks that can’t bring back the bacon from Sacramento – only the smell.
William says
What did it for me with Knight was at a town hall meeting about 4 years ago when he agreed with a woman who was concerned about ‘voter fraud’, that non-existent GOP obsession. He said he opposed funding for polling places on state university campuses thus doing his share in the voter suppression movement that followed in the red states.
His lame reason, you ask. College campuses can’t handle the crowds. Yep. He’s a republican. That’s how they think….you know….like morons.
We’ll see what he gets done in the next 2 years when he runs again. Since it’s so conservative in the AV, it would be cool if another republican unseated him in 2016. They eat their own. Think Eric Cantor.
The House is as far as he can go in California. He couldn’t get elected to the Senate here.
He is a POS in my opinion.
frank rizzo says
There is no such thing as voter suppression, William. Keeping in stride with the democrat party. Don’t bother come up with an original idea.
bird says
I don’t believe that mayor Ledford is a moron William. He is a Republican and he makes sound decisions, including who he backs.
William says
Get real, frank rizzo.
Knight and the rest of the republicans in Sacramento didn’t want polling booths on state university campuses because they think more students would vote Democratic.
THAT IS PART OF VOTER SUPPRESSION, making it more difficult to vote by placing extra burdens and obstacles in their way.
In many red states, hours and days have been cut back to make sure there are long lines, especially in Democratic districts. 8 hour lines in Florida in 2012 were a result of a republican governor’s VOTER SUPPRESSION efforts.
You really need to get smarter, rizzo, and quit saying things that are provably false. It doesn’t reflect well on you at all. It makes you seem quite ignorant.
I heard Knight at a town hall meeting a year or so before the voter suppression began in earnest in the various red states when before it became a big issue.
So, when you say there is voter suppression, you are lying, plain and simple.
William says
Correction. When you say there is ‘no’ voter suppression, frank rizzo, you are lying.
You might as well be saying the earth is flat.
William says
‘believe’ whatever you want, bird.
‘beliefs’ aren’t real. That is the nature of beliefs.
Show me a belief. Put it on the table. Show us that your belief in a god works every single time without fail. Trouble is, you guys always create excuses alongside your beliefs to sidestep that test. For an all powerful god, he/she sure does a misses in with a few hits. I bet he’s batting 0.00000000000000003% or less. Would you buy a car that only worked that amount of time?
Your belief in a god isn’t real either. It’s just hearsay. You’ve heard it from others just like you heard about Santa Claus when you were a little girl.
The funny thing is, children ‘outgrow’ their belief in Santa Claus as part of ‘growing up’ but are absurdly trained to believe in an even more incredible thing, an invisible all seeing, all knowing God who just sits there and lets things happen, well, except for football touchdowns and award ceremonies acceptance speeches. That is one wild story. But, it’s not real.
I really, really wish you would test you ability to ‘believe’ and believe that you can fly and jump off the roof. Try it and let me know how real your belief is. I mean, doesn’t believing in a god make he/her real, so why not flying? And, do hurry.
bird says
What can I say about your comments, except there laughable. All of your long winded comments about anything are mostly based on your beliefs, like calling Republicans morons. It is a blanket statement that is your belief and is not rooted in reality. Also calling Steve Knight a piece of sh%t is your belief and not rooted in reality. You must have believed in Santa Claus William. I never believed in Santa Claus because he isn’t real. I know you’re disappointed, but it is time that you stop believing at your age.
William says
We’re done here, bird. You’re not worth the bandwidth to reply to you as you have shown with your last comment.
bird says
My worth doesn’t depend on what you believe.
bird says
Well you just answered your own comment William. When you make a blanket statement that Republicans are morons, that also includes Mayor Ledford, since he is a Republican. When you don’t have faith in Mayor Ledford’s decisions, i.e. Steve Knight whom he backs 100%, well then what you believe is an irrelevant comment. You get a gold star for 3rd grade level beliefs. Congratulations!
bird says
When you actually believe that it’s acceptable to call Steve Knight a POS, or rather a piece of sh%t, than your belief system is definitely not based on truth.
William says
You don’t get it, bird. beliefs aren’t real. Your life is based on beliefs. Your beliefs are as real as Santa Claus is real.
Anyone running for office who has the intention of suppressing voting by college students because they might vote for the other party doesn’t’ deserve to be in elected office in my opinion, not my belief.
Therefore, I ‘think’ that Steve Knight is figuratively a ‘POS’ for that alone. You are so insanely hung up on ‘believing’ that you apply it to everything. I don’t ‘believe’ he ‘literally’ is a POS. It’s an expression of disgust with someone. Do you want to be included?
As for Mayor Ledford, although I am a Democrat and he’s a republican, I heartily support him as my mayor which doesn’t mean I support every single thing he supports because I think for myself on each issue, not like you, who has a rigid view of everything and are here to prove it.
I have had many conversations and communications with him and have contributed to his campaign. He is the exception when it comes to republicans being morons. And exception proves the rule, it seems. That I support Mayor Ledford as an exception proves the rule that I think the rest of the republican ARE morons.
And, the many successes in Palmdale since he’s been mayor prove it while another republican in Lancaster shows exactly how moronic most republicans are and you’ve said so yourself about him.
The republican party is filled with birthers, creationists, WMDs were found in Iraq believers, climate change and science deniers, Fox ‘news’ watchers and swallowers of its lies, the President is from Kenya and it a Muslin believers and so on….you know…morons.
The republican party is ‘faith based’ from those example above. They believe that s*** despite contrary evidence.
The Democratic Party is ‘fact based’. Big difference.
Heck, the ‘good ol’ boys’ (republicans) in Lancaster don’t even like him because he’s not really a moronic republican and besides, birdie, his elected office is non-partisan anyway.
You are so screwed up in your thinking (based on your beliefs) you might as well be living in the 15th century or earlier.
Man has evolved past your primitive belief systems but you haven’t. And, it’s likely you won’t. It’s hard to give up firmly held beliefs even in the face of overwhelming evidence.
The House Intelligence Committee once again put to rest all the FOX/GOP created scandals and conspiracies on November 21 but you and millions of republicans and Fox viewers still believe the ‘myths’ and can’t give them up. Sen. Lindseykins Graham called the House report ‘cr**’ because it didn’t fit his ‘beliefs’ just like you and your beliefs.
William says
When Steve Knight said in the town hall meeting that university campuses weren’t able to handle the crowds associated with having polling places THAT WAS MORONIC.
It’s not my ‘belief’. It’s what’s so about campuses. They are designed to handle crowds of students.
It’s funny, bird, that you couldn’t or wouldn’t address that specific issue that I first wrote about. That’s pretty sleazy of you. You deflected and distracted instead.
Typical.
William says
When someone can’t name anything that Steve Knight accomplished, they resort to saying that ‘more bills passed mean more government control’. And, after praising him. It’s like praising a baskeball player for not scoring any points all season.
That is typical and hilarious at the same time. It’s always amusing when people reveal their own ignorance over time.
Our slow moving government is typically late in addressing problems that require new legislation and regulations. So, the government, despite tea party republicans nonsensical rantings, isn’t out in front passing laws to ‘control’ the population. It’s actually too slow. Look at how long it has taken from the first OPEC oil crisis in the early 70s to get serious about our energy problems. Some totalitarian government that is.
Like it or not, the ACA was in response to many decades of health care costing a lot more than in other industrialized countries yet leaving so many uninsured and without needed health care in the richest country in the world plus having outcomes way down the list. The government was finally responding to a serious problem that some people here and elsewhere just can’t understand given their rigid viewpoints. You know who you are.
Right now, ‘net neutrality’ is an issue and the President wants the FCC to keep it as it is more like a utility rather than letting corporations ‘control’ it for their benefit and not the consumers. If you think that is ‘government control’ as a negative thing, you’ve got it backward.
bird says
No, I don’t have it backwards, you do. Mayor Ledford supports Steve Knight, and the Veterans I know support Steve Knight. What’s good for Mayor Ledford is good for me. You say you support Mayor Ledford, but you don’t like who he supports. You don’t make sense!
William says
DISTRACTION. CHANGE THE SUBJECT. DISTRACTION.
I still haven’t read any accomplishments by Steve Knight in all his years in Sacramento.
That Mayor Ledford preferred a Palmdale resident over Tony Strickland ISN’T an accomplishment for Steve Knight.
Isn’t it embarrassing to be caught deflecting when ya got nothing? Nada.
You still have it backward and you just proved it by changing the subject.
bird says
Now you’re just not being truthful. Talk about deflecting, Mayor Ledford and Steve Knight not only support each other, they are good friends. Now if Steve Knight hasn’t accomplished anything, than why is Mayor Ledford supporting him? And if you support Mayor Ledford so steadfastly than you should also back up who he supports. So I guess you don’t have that much faith in your mayor, if you don’t think he supports the right people. Shame on you.
William says
Look, Town Scold. You go around shaming people. Who do you think you are besides the biggest hypocrite on this site? Does your god like hypocrites as much as you like being one?
I support Mayor Ledford, but it doesn’t mean I have to support who he endorses for the House. I’m not lockstep like you on the right are. Besides, I am a Democrat and supporting Republican Mayor Ledford ought to wise you up to that if nothing else. Think. Comprehend. For a change.
I already told you that it isn’t hard to understand that he would endorse a Palmdale resident and former council member over Tony Strickland but you simply ignore what you don’t want to hear. Plus, Knight’s win opens up his state senate seat which Mayor Ledford is looking at. Understand????
Politics is 3-dimentional chess and you have a simple binary brain which you expose here daily.
You’re still DEFLECTING. What are Knight’s accomplishments in the legislature? 3 strikes and you’re out.
You brought in Mayor Ledford as a distraction and then you try to turn it around like the hypocrite you are, have been and always will be.
Go shame yourself. You have a mixed up twisted mind and that’s why I’ve been ignoring you for weeks. You are hopeless.
That fact that you support Ben Carson is all we need to know about how you think. The man won’t be nominated by the GOP and he’ll be quickly dismissed after he opens his mouth 1 too many times just like Gingrich, Cain, Santorum, Bachmann et al in the last republican train wreck of a campaign for the nomination in 2012. How quick you forget.
The GOP has alienated so many groups of people in the last 6 years and then they call the President ‘divisive’. They are hypocrites just like yourself.
You go around shaming people and then you accuse them of attacking you like the hypocrite you are. You’ve been doing that for a long time.
Nobody bothers to have a debate or discussion with you so you just deposit your little droppings as replies to others and myself.
William says
“It’s impossible to wake someone who is pretending to be asleep”
That means you.
Cult Awareness Net says
Looks like Lancaster is making national news again. Looks like it is bad news, again.
http://www.opposingviews.com/i/religion/christianity/pastor-compares-women-who-have-premarital-sex-filthy-dishrags-video
dishrag says
Jesus the Messiah was crucified for what Pastor Chappell calls “filthy dishrags.” I’m one of them. God Bless
William says
Does Chappell ever preach forgiveness and compassion or is it all condemnation?
Heck, anyone could do that.
Bikerbob says
Filthy dishrags? It’s there in the Bible but it isn’t dishrags. Is he afraid to call it what it really says? A politically correct Preacher, how nice. Wouldn’t want to offend anyone with Gods word now would we?
IRay says
Hmmmmm. That is our beloved mayor’s pastor, church and political pal? Why, it is. Sure explains a lot, don’t it.
Concerned says
Women typically have premarital sex with men, yet Chappell does not call men such names. A bride on her wedding day has clearly made the decision not to engage in premarital sex any longer, so why the condemnation? Is she forever a filthy dishrag in his eyes? The point of the gospel is forgiveness and reconciliation with God. It is a point Chappell seems to have entirely missed.
Mr. T says
How about strict, firm discipline and tickets for all these people who just dart across Avenue I on their bicycles, walk across intersections disregarding the red lights or red hand “do not walk” By law, they have the right of way, and we drivers are blamed for their dumb actions.
Please people, this is getting out of control! I am a careful driver by nature, but not everyone is like that. This blatant disregard of crosswalks, signs etc is just getting worse and worse and I just wish people wouldn’t do it, but those that do, just don’t care and want to get to the other side. I see this as a big, big problem in the Lancaster, one that it in the forefront of my mind each and every time I drive down Ave. I.
William says
Steve Knight opposed funding for polling places on state university campuses in 2010, doing his share in the republican VOTER SUPPRESSION effort and pushing that BS voter fraud epidemic.
He will be another tool in Congress.
What legislation has Knight gotten passed in all his time in Sacramento?
How has Knight benefited the Antelope Valley while in Sacramento?
Greg says
He is a Nay sayer quite often…
http://votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/71098/steve-knight/?p=1
William says
Thanks for the link, Greg. I once looked over his voting record about 6 months ago and it was practically all ‘Nays’.
If he had authored and got something passed with his name on it, it would have been plastered all over the Valley. I didn’t see that but maybe his fans ‘imagined’ all those accomplishments. You know who you are.
bird says
The more bills that are passed, the more government control.
KE says
Dear Rex re homeless: Madison Wis is proactive, why can’t we find solution instead of demonizing them, something like this:
Occupy Madison, Inc., a membership non-profit organization. We have several projects including:
– OM Build – Building Tiny Houses
– OM Goods – Building products for sale to fundraise to build houses
– OM Village – A tiny village for our Tiny Houses
– And coming soon – OM Works . . . our own day labor program
Mission: Our mission is to join together to creatively work towards a more humane and sustainable world.
Vision: We envision a place where people with or without current safe housing can live and/or work cooperatively in a way that promotes dignity, safety, stewardship, and sustainability for all. http://occupymadisoninc.com/about/

bird says
I’m having a bad dream! Mayor R. Rex Parris says he might be eyeing the state Senate 21st District race!
Steve says
I think he should run, that’s one way of getting rid of him in Lancaster.
IRay says
Only we Lancasterites are dumb enough to vote for him. No one outside the city will. He is our headache and quite frankly we deserve what he’s done to us. If we’re to dumb to vote him in or too lazy not to vote and vote him out, then it’s our own damn faults. It would be borderline criminal to unleash him and his crazy ideas statewide. He’s whacky even by California standards.
William says
You’re on to something. If he did replace Knight and ran as a republican, he would be in the minority in Sacramento.
Does anyone recall anything that Knight accomplished as state senator or assemblymember?
Rx would just have to travel back and forth to Sacramento to vote ‘No’ on everything and it would keep him out of our hair.
I can just see it. The GOP would have meetings and not invite him just so they don’t have to listen to him.
Anyway, the whole notion of Rx being a state senator is called the ‘Peter Principle and there’s no more perfect ‘peter’ than R. Rx Parris.
bird says
Steve Knight has a proven record of helping Veterans. He is also a Veteran, and he supports small business, and many other accomplishments too numerous to mention. do your own research about this man and you will see.
EnoughAV says
Why is it that days after an election we still see campaign signs up? I think that all signs should be taken down with 72 hours after an election. If not the candidates that haven’t removed them should be fined for littering. Sometimes you see these signs up for months.
Show your respect for the community you want to represent and get your trash picked up!
Eric says
Thank you! They should have to account sign removal and waste clean up into their campaign budgets.
Steve says
There is a existing law covering this issue, just needs to be enforced.
Cynic says
Should Palmdale and Lancaster limit development of new homes that are growing the city outward? There’s a lot of empty lots within developed portions of the cities that could be developed instead, making the area feel like less of a jiggzaw puzzle of homes and desert and preserving desert land in the periphery. Also, if new housing is limited, that means current homes would increase in value and hopefully stop the flow of a lot of the rabble that is coming up here from LA.
Mike R. says
Agreed, 100% !!!!!!! Let’s put serious restrictions on new housing. We need to think about our local environment and the impact that sprawl has on all of our health.
JDB says
The economy may have already settled this issue. But what about the rumor of Rex’s plan to house all the communist Chinese workers he wants to bring here?
Jeff says
This won’t happen. They still need to lure hard working blue collar families to the area for the next round of sub-prime mortgages. Then, all the investors can buy up the foreclosures, well below market value. Finally, the investors rent out all their properties to those on Section 8 and make a huge profit.
Rightpower says
As for now we still have a free market system. Why don’t you get out your checkbook and develope these properties? If I happen to own property and want to develop it in hopes that I might make a profit Why should it matter to you. If you don’t want to live in my devolpment don’t buy there. Too many people are too quick to tell a property owner what they can or can not with their own properties. Mind your own affairs not the affairs of others.
Steve says
Proposed Law

I want to know, where are the antelopes? Secondly, if we have the jurassic park guy as our mayor.. Why cant we have that sweet gate that leads you into jurassic park¿ finally, when they fly that b2 & all those war planes, just do us all a favor and lay some carpet.
su says
Is anyone else getting the impression that Antonovich and Rex are not buddies anymore?
Money Man says
Maybe there is finally someone Rex can’t buy or bully. Refreshing, I say.
Steve says
I want to get your attention to something that’s very important, water. I am retired from Lockheed and Rockwell Palmdale and living in Northern California. The lakes and rivers up here are all but dry, Shasta is at 40% of full, at this rate everyone in So. Cal will be limited to probably 50 gals of water per day this summer. You guys better start thinking about how to live in the with less.
Steve says
I would like to thank the founders of this web site for their effort to keep us retired ” AVites” informed as to whats going at home, sure wish you guys would add a Obituaries.
I have a real problem with the AV Press and their .55/cents a day charge to access their web site, that’s BS.
As for Palmdale vs. Lancaster, it’s always been that way, remember when it was a toll call to call the other side of Ave. M? Ledford is a OK guy, we worked together at Lockheed. Where did Rex come from? that guy is a real Bozo, I would fire him in a heart beat.
William says
Palmdale and Lancaster had had a friendly but competitive relationship until Rx became mayor. Then, he went crazy with his green eyed envy of Mayor Ledford who has been mayor for over 20 years and has produced some remarkable results for the city.
Mayor Ledford did that despite several big recessions and never-ending attempts by Parris to undermine anything Mayor Ledford does.
How ’bout that?
Macy’s and Yard House located in Palmdale during the depths of the recession/depression while the blvd needs ‘saving’ after only 4 years and during a recovery. Plus, many more desirable businesses are locating in Palmdale rather than Lancaster and it will continue that way.
It’s reached critical mass and more and more businesses will locate in Palmdale simply because of the ones already here. Unless you’ve lived in the AV all your life and don’t know much about how cities grow elsewhere, this must perplex you if you live in Lancaster and are still hoping for something……anything.
Palmdale will become a major transportation hub for the Antelope Valley while Rx tried to close Lancaster’s Metrolink station. I thought millions of people from down below were going to flock to see the blvd ‘the heart of the Antelope Valley’ by using the Metrolink. Seems that they aren’t doing that.
Now, what is Rx’s next grand idea?
Explain that Rx supporters.
IRay says
Rx has been an unmitigated disaster for both Lancaster and the greater Antelope Valley. The sooner he goes away the better off everyone will be.
jim ross says
Try spending money in Lancaster, markets are gone, no where to buy decent clothing, books, computers, hobby supply. The only place is Wal Mart and they are dumps. I shop Palmdale, the internet or down below. The blvd is a joke except for the library if you can get through the derelicts that call it home. I am putting my affairs in order and doing everything to get out of here.
CAP'N LANCASTER says
I KNOW THERE AINT MUCH ON THE BLVD FOR SHOPPING BUT I DO LOVE THAT THERE CUSTARD SHOP. YUM YUM YUMMY! HOPE IT LASTS LONGER THEN ALL THEM STORES THAT CLOSED. UNLESS YOU SELL BOOZE, TATOOS OR HAIRCUTS ITS TOUGH.
William says
Good luck, jim ross
I recall back during the recession in the 90s, I was discouraged and wanted to flee the AV.
.
There were foreclosures everywhere and businesses were shutting down but somehow Palmdale kept chugging ahead which was remarkable thanks to Mayor Ledford’s diligent work through the toughest times.
Lancaster, however, is hopeless as long as Rx is mayor. I don’t even think his successor will be able to fix things either. That train has left the station, so to speak.
I feel for an unsuspecting homebuyer who buys a nice new home in Lancaster only to discover that there is no shopping or much else in town but Walmarts.
Anyway, jim, I bet Rx and family have to shop down below too as he doesn’t dare show his face in Palmdale for dining or shopping.
It’s almost like Lancaster is a bedroom community of Palmdale.
IRay says
we know Rex don’t like the restaurants in Lancaster. He told the LA Times they have no good ones. Since he really doesn’t live here no more it’s doubtful he shops here. Yet he is propped up by the faithful at LNcaster Baptist. It is so wierd. I can’t wait to move out of Lancaster to Palmdale or Little Rock or Acton or Rosamond or Quartz Hills or Lake Elizabeth. Anywhere away from Mayor Koo Koo.
Nancy P says
Obituaries for local deaths and up to date arrest logs would be great.
bird says
Well on a more positive note! The ceremonies for the Veterans was beautiful. All with the back drop of the wall, with the names of the men and women that gave their lives for our freedom. I saw old friends and made new friends. A community of brothers and sisters, sharing hugs and tears. There is a program starting up here in the A.V. to provide service dogs for Veterans and their families! I love you veterans from one that has three generations of veterans in my family. God Bless you all

From Politico
By JUANA SUMMERS | 2/27/14 5:30 PM EST Updated: 2/28/14 12:24 PM EST
“Senate Republicans on Thursday derailed a sweeping $21 billion bill that would have expanded medical, educational and other benefits for veterans — in another chapter of the ongoing feud over amendments, spending and new sanctions on Iran.”
and>
“The measure, solidly supported by more than two dozen veterans groups, would have authorized the Department of Veterans Affairs to open or expand more than two dozen medical centers across the country. It also would extend the life of a program that offers care for veterans with mild to severe brain injuries and make more veterans eligible for in-state tuition at public universities.”

The republicans wrap themselves in the flag, send other people’s kid off to war and then vote against veterans benefits.
Dontcha just love the hypocrites who ‘believe’ that the republicans are ‘patriotic’?
We have them here on the AV Times spreading it like fertilizer.
Really not Really? says
You have a way of taking everything and turning it into a Republican-bashing tirade…don’t you? Does this type of behavior…’Make your day’? For every ONE hate speech argument that you conjure up against Republicans there is about TEN against your like…I guess you haven’t been informed of the VA Scandal that hit your buddy’s administration…spare us your snide remarks. While you spout off on here there are Veterans dying all alone who need our support and care…care packages that need to be prepared and shipped off to those who unselfishly put their lives on the line to protect us all and then there are those Veterans who are coming home with life-changing injuries and others who need a job…Don’t be a part of the problem…be a part of the solution.
William says
Why is showing a report that republicans voted against a veterans bill ‘hate speech’.
Didn’t you notice that more than 2 dozen veterans groups supported the bill?
Ignore the information if you like but you have no case.
Cynic says
Palmdale and Lancaster should be consolidated into one city, that way we can get rid of Ledford and Parris and quit bickering over stupid stuff. The economies of Palmdale and Lancaster are one and the same.
William says
No way should Palmdale and Lancaster become one city.
Do you live in Lancaster, Cynic?
Lancaster has a lower bond rating and besides, it has at-large council member voting and that just wouldn’t work for Rx Parris because Palmdale will have district voting thanks to him.
Maybe Rx shot himself in the foot on that one. Not very many Palmdale residents want anything to do with Lancaster and its current leaders.
Mr fed up says
What we need in the antelope valley, is fresh new leaders to change the way both cities are ran, were stronger as two cities but we are one valley! Parrish, Los Angeles county are the main problems, and palmdale its time for a new mayor
William says
@Mr. fed up
The Antelope Valley is twice the size of the state of Rhode Island. I believe Rhode Island has more than just 1 big city. It has 39 cities.
I can’t believe some people.
Palmdale City Hall is still very easy to access for any issues. If the 2 cities became 1 large city of over 300,000, good luck navigating your way through that bureaucracy.
NO on merging the cities. There’s nothing in it for Palmdale and it’s Lancaster and Rx that wants it bad. And, if they are in charge it will be ‘bad’.
Samtheman says
Think cynic and fedup are Rex? He and his minions continue to try and convince the happy people of Palmdale that they aren’t happy, and thus allow Rex to come in and consolidate his debt, er, I mean cities.
Funny how no one in Palmdale get’s behind Rex’s meddling, er ah, I mean willingness to fix what isn’t wrong in Palmdale.
Guess we should give props to Rex. He never allows failure after failure to stop him his vision of spreading around Lancaster’s debt. Did I say vision? Maybe I should of said insanity? After all, the definition of insanity is……….
William says
@samtheman.
I don’t know if it’s actually Rx or one of his minions but they are usually ‘1 hit wonders’. They write a nasty reply or two never to be heard from again under the same username.
Rx has had so many failures and Lancaster needs so much fixing and no more pet projects, that I doubt Rx will run again.
It’s no fun just doing the job of fixing things in Lancaster, all the half empty shopping centers, road repair, little shopping other than Walmarts and having the mayor of Lancaster be a laughingstock here, there and everywhere.
mr fed up says
I agree we need to vote out Parris, and only then Lancaster can start to prosper like it once did….
Dumb and Dumber says
Count me in mr fed up. When is the next election so I can vote him out?
Dumb and Dumber says
There are dumb ideas. Then there are the Scott Erlich folks who want one city. Does anyone find it odd that it is only Lancaster pols who want to merge? Palmdalians are way to smart to hook up with the cess pool that Rex & Co. have created.
Eric says
Now that it is stacked against him, how long do we have before Emperor Palpatine dissolves the Senate?
Mr. Mister says
Now that it is stacked against him, how long will it be before a bill other than to dissolve the ACA, lands on his desk?
William says
I’m guessing that if the GOP messes with the ACA, unemployment will rise beyond the 5.8% currently.
And, if they pull some really nasty stuff like they’ve done before such as shutting down the government, it’s likely the stock market will take a big hit in the next 2 years. The 1% likes to clean out the underbrush (small nervous investors) from time to time then buy back in.
And, who do you think the GOP will blame despite having majorities in Congress and on the Supreme Court.
Earl says
People either never knew or they have conveniently forgotten that the house sent far more to the senate than just bills to turn back the ACA (Obamacare for those who don’t understand acronyms.) Several of the bills sitting on Dirty Harry Reid’s desk are regarding immigration. All that has to happen is that Majority Leader began putting the house bills on the floor for debate and votes. There are bills for jobs, bills for the Keystone pipeline, bills for all sorts of things. Usually passed with both R and D’s signing on. In fact there were 515 bills discussed. I suggest you check House.gov and Senate.gov to get the details.
Mark says
The Antelope Valley is a cesspool for the morally bankrupt and criminally inclined.
R Rex can have it.
Ms.Educated says
I agree with you, AV is the drop off for the rejected people that everyone else has kicked out. There are poor homeless people that just keep getting passed around like they are nothing of value…meanwhile Rex is trying to eliminate the low income people altogether by taking the metrolink from he AV. what about the people who commute to work REX? I am a strong believer of what comes around goes around,,, and one sweet day Rex is gonna get a visit from the universe with a rude awakening and have to experience what he has put alot of innocent people who only down fall is financial burden..then and onlly then will he see what he has imposed on so many lives in the AV
Dumb and Dumber says
Maybe people are finally seeing Rx for what he really is.
