Frank Rizzo says
I drove by that train station in Palmdale trying to see the commuter village, all I saw was section 8 apartments and ghetto houses. Also saw bums and drunks hanging around on the sidewalks. Thought the new housing was suppose to make the place classy.
AV Truth says
Nice try Frank Rizzo. Too bad those who live there and who have been there know otherwise. If you’re looking for bums, try the Lancaster station and the BLVD. They claim they stopped the influx of bums from coming here but it was a crock of a story to begin with. By the way, if you’re eating a sand which on the BLVD and a homeless person asks for some, you’d be kind and smart to give it up.
William says
Frank Rizzo, I’d question everything as seen through your eyes.
Frank Rizzo says
As you should William. Questioning your existence?
William says
There’s a ‘Frank Rizzo’ that has written right wing nonsense on the Media Matters for America website.
Is that the same Frank Rizzo that writes nonsense here?
AV Truth says
Frank Rizzo is attempting to justify the meddling of Lancaster MAYOR EMERITUS Henry Hearns and Parris in the affairs of our neighboring city. All the whle our Lancaster is beseighed with criminals on the BLVD, money wasted on a spy plane, countless lawsuits, the east side abandoned and lots of good old boys deals. Maybe he like are town like this. I wish we would worry about us.
William says
@AV Truth
Didya notice that Frank Rizzo ignored your comment about Lancaster’s problems to type the lamest reply to me?
Poor guy is stuck with Rex and is striking out aimlessly at Palmdale.
Frank Rizzo says
I drove by the Sams Club in Palmdale and noticed a man panhandling on the side of the road. Apparently people who live in Palmdale are in denial that there are homeless in Palmdale. There are people who actually deny that there is allot of crime in Palmdale also, like the kid who got shot etc. Go for a drive down Palmdale Blvd sometime and look at all the homeless everywhere. Look at all the ghetto apartments and ask yourself how you can help the people out who need help. Please donate to the needy families in Palmdale. Be a part of the solution not a part of the problem
AV Truth says
apparently you haven’t seen the tent cities in Lancaster near the Cinemark, in the drainage ditches and in the desert off of H. Unlike you the county is stepping up to do something about it instead of taking a chapter from the Parris playbook where you deflect attention from your problems and point to others. Don’t forget Lancaster has about a year or two worth of 67 homeless people a day who came from LA to the BLVD. They haven’t gone away. Unless you think Partis wasn’t being truthful about the 67 apple a day claim. He wouldn’t tell a non truth, would he?
Frank Rizzo says
Yes there are many homeless in the AV. What does Paris have to do with the homeless? I think it is funny how AV Truth and William think it is a bigger problem in Lancaster and only isolated to Lancaster. You are always whining about Lancaster and Parris. Its a weird obsession that you and William seem to have. Have you thought about seeking some help with your strange fetish about Lancaster and the Mayor/City Council?
AV Truth says
yes Frank Rizzo. I do need help. Lots of us do. We need help in getting our city back on track with a mayor who can focus on our many problems like homelessness, joblessness, rising crime, wasteful spending, cronyism, east. Vs west Lancaster, air pollution, and so on. All Paris cares about is sticking his nose in the business of other cities and suing them for racial issues while all our elected people are white west sisters. He scares people with his sky is falling BS about The world’s disasters because of global warming but he flies around in a private jet. Instead of spending tax dollars on preventing crime he thinks birdie sounds and a spy plane will help. They don’t. Yes Frank Rizzo I need help to be saved from this pathetic “leader”. So do the rest of us.
Turd Ferguson says

Citizen Kane says

William says
@Frank Rizzo
Out of all the articles here and in the Valley Press for many years, I can’t recall ‘homelessness’ being a significant issue in Palmdale such as it is in Lancaster.
Of course, there are homeless persons in Palmdale as in most cities. Whatever Palmdale is doing is handling the issue of homelessness way better than Lancaster which seems to have an ongoing problem with it judging from the many news articles here, there and everywhere.
NEWS ALERT: Concerned citizen, Frank Rizzo, sees one (1) apparently homeless man panhandling on the side of the road by Sam’s Club. STOP THE PRESSES!!!!
You are just looking for something to criticize Palmdale with and it shows.
And, just what will your next target be, Frank Rizzo, faded house address numbers on the curbs in Palmdale?
Keep ’em comin’, Frank. You are such a caution.
James P. Biddle says
Just want to let the community know that as of 3-12-2015 the Quartz Hill Town Council has been dissolved.
AV Truth says
I just read the story in the Antelope Valley Press this morning where Lancaster Mayor Emeritus Henry Hearns showed up at meeting on alcohol policies and restrictions in Palmdale. Why the heck do our politicians keep sticking there noses in everyone else’s business rather than focusing on the problems we have in Lancaster? It’s bad enough that Parris has to sue both our neighboring cities south of us and is always trying to mess with their business. But now Hearns? Enough is enough! Focus on Lancaster. If you’re worried about alcohol, then do something about all the booze joints on the BLVD and Sierra r Highway. Or do something about all the beer that they sell at the go cart races and the fair. Ever see all the drunks at those events? We even have a drinking event at the Jethawks field now. If anyone has a problem with alcohol it is Lancaster. Fix our house before we start telling others how to fix theirs.
frank rizzo says
Who cares? Hearns is not the mayor of Lancaster.
AV Truth says
Hearns is MAYOR EMERITUS of Lancaster. As such he should focus his efforts on the alcohol issues in our town. Just because Parris likes to turn attention away from all the problems by sticking his nose in Palmdale’s business doesn’t mean the MAYOR EMERITUS should. My goodness we are a mess and we are worrying about Palmdale?
Palmdalian says
Agree.

Why does it take the inspection dept. of Lancaster City so long , to go out to new businesses waiting to open? Come on people ! “We’ll get there when we can!” is not helping!! When a new business is coming in and bringing jobs and revenue for the city, wouldn’t it be more beneficial, to be more welcoming, than, discouraging? It’s not like business is exactly “booming” out here! Be a part of the solution…get up off your lazy rear-ends and do what you’re paid to do, already!
Pollution is Pollution says
Nice lil’ story in the L.A. Times about the pollution surrounding the battery recycling plant in Vernon. Can’t wait to see what Rex will bring us with his BYD batteries and their disposal. Not to mention all the natural resources used and environmental destruction to produce the batteries in the first place.
As his lap dog Marv has said, dirt is dirt and pollution is pollution.

Mr fed up says
Why does everyone compare Lancaster to the LA basin when it comes to stories about pollution and wages, veron is, lol environmental nightmare down there alone maybe the byd batteries will be safe and clean so don’t blame business that open in Lancaster, cause you don’t like r Rex parris
Son of the Anti Rex says
Rex, Rex, Rex. The man who is tearing our desert to crap with his unmitigated solar projects. The man who brought BYD and the $1.50 an hour jobs that almost halted the project. The man who wanted birth tourism. The man who hates fossil fuels but brags about his private fossil fuel powered plane, expensive Audi, and multiple mansions. Why should we trust him? Google BYD and battery pollution sometime.
CongregationSansRexia says
That’s a Helluva maybe! Does Parris even reside in this town? Mr Net Zero can’t even move without a corporation using him and Lancaster as a pair of stilts! This is not a hater statement…this moron has sent Lancaster even further into the barrel of filth…literally! Do you see any city wide incentive to help local growth? The Blvd? Hand picked cronies that fit the image….in real estate, this type of biased action is close to redlining people into different areas. This mayor is the root of this town having no domestic resources other than being used by the surround area as a failed social experiment on how not to run a city and how to get away with political corruption better than Bell…another outside area, environmental wasteland, but quite similar. Have we already forgotten all the waste buried or by the courthouse? After years of being a famous landfill…people started to follow. The solar cutbacks to my bill are so much, i run my heater in the summer just to warm up the house from my ac!….Oh wait.
BYD. God help us. $1.50 sure does buy hazmat cert! Then again, i can ride myself off motor oil easily by putting it down the sink. I take it his trips to China were truly necessary for the growth of this town….and not his blood’s wealth…MAYBE they will be clean…MAYBE Obama will provide a transparent administration….MAYBE there is WMDs in Iraq…MAYBE Nixon isn’t a crook….maybe we should have given a little more local encouragement by offering a business better than being a waiter at BEX. Maybe if we didn’t really so heavily on gambles…this town could have made something of itself by now. The seventies were a long time ago. Yet we jump ahead in the technological revolution by putting a single engine with a go pro on it just so a reformed drug addict can say that it’s making his city safer. .
Yeah. Maybe they are in the basin, but Bullsh** is fluent in all languages and has a storefront in all locations.

moll flanders says
John…Thank you for seeing that Media Matters is biased, which is the same as having an agenda of untruthfulness, which is the same as lying.
William says
@moll flanders
Did you read the definition of bias?
Where are your examples of untruthfulness on Media Matters?
Your just saying so is no good.
You and John illustrate exactly the kind of stuff the conservative media puts out and that Media Matters analyses and exposes.
You and John have provided NO FACTS and neither did the link to the website he posted and the link that that website had in its fact free opinion piece.
So, thanks for illustrating your own ‘bias’ which is, by definition, an ‘unreasoned judgement’.
You both have shown your ‘biases’ according to that definition and you both have provided NO FACTS to support your claims.
Have you been to the Media Matters site, moll, and read at least one article so you know what you are talking about? So far, it doesn’t appear that you do.
Amazing.
William says
Come on, moll flanders, bring us some examples of Media Matters’ untruthfulness or your claims aren’t credible. Not at all.
I’ll be on the lookout for them.
John says
Here are some examples, though you will find some way to disregard all these links as ‘NOT FACTUAL’.

William says
@John
It was something to unpack those articles you linked to. Here’s the first and it undermines your accusation that Media Matters takes snippets and that you have it exactly backward.
This is what your first link said>
“All of them are flat out lies. Taranto doesn’t even come close to saying any of those things. What he wrote was the following
The question arises here: Whom exactly did Martel save from danger? The answer is quite possibly both the young woman and his friend. Had she awakened the next day feeling regretful and violated, she could have brought him up on charges and severely disrupted his life. Both of them were taking foolish risks, and it seems likely that he as well as she had impaired judgment owing to excessive drinking.”
The article was nearly unreadable.
And, here is where a link in the article led to the Media Matters article that was being referred to. The following was left out of the article above, er, I mean the snippet above.
From the Media Matters article and there were several more quotes from Taranto as well to back up the accusation by Media Matters.
“In his February 10 WSJ column, Taranto baselessly argued that men are often unfairly accused in sexual assault cases on college campuses, particularly when both men and women involved in the case were drinking (emphasis added):
What is called the problem of “sexual assault” on campus is in large part a problem of reckless alcohol consumption, by men and women alike.
If two drunk drivers are in a collision, one doesn’t determine fault on the basis of demographic details such as each driver’s sex. But when two drunken college students “collide,” the male one is almost always presumed to be at fault. His diminished capacity owing to alcohol is not a mitigating factor, but her diminished capacity is an aggravating factor for him.
As the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education notes, at some campuses the accuser’s having had one drink is sufficient to establish the defendant’s guilt … In theory that means, as FIRE notes, that “if both parties are intoxicated during sex, they are both technically guilty of sexually assaulting each other.” In practice it means that women, but not men, are absolved of responsibility by virtue of having consumed alcohol.”
So, John, according this Taranto guy, if both the man and the woman have been drinking they are both equally responsible even if the man forcefully assaults the woman, a point your link left out. And, an omission that shows a bias-an ‘unreasoned judgement’.
To apply Taranto’s analogy to 2 drunk drivers, it would be more accurate to state it this way. A female drunk driver is passed out in a parked car, and the male drunk driver crashed into her, they aren’t equally responsible. Or, even the male drunk driver chases the female drunk driver and crashes into her. That, too, doesn’t make them equally responsible.
Boy, John, you picked some lousy examples to defend your claims about Media Matters.
If you bothered to look at both sites, Media Matters had a more comprehensive analysis while the site you gave the link for had the snippet that showed a bias by not including more of Taranto’s quotes.
And, yes, I disregard your ‘evidence’. I looked at a couple other links and they were just as poorly written and showed a significant bias. I don’t have room to post all the trashing done in the articles themselves and not just the comments that followed.
When I clicked on a link in your first article for some stats, I got a blank page.
Now, I know where you go to for information and will take that into account from now on. Didn’t you strongly defend Fox ‘news’ a while back or was that another John? Fox ‘news’, where O’Reilly lies and lies.
John says
Media Matters do not expose lies and misinformation. Media Matters will take a snippet of a opinion or viewpoint of right wing politicians, pundits and media. Media Matters will then ‘read between the lines’ and show you their opinion of what you have just seen or read and that you should be ‘appalled and shocked’ by what you have just seen or read.
Of course Media Matters is biased and do not hide their loathe and disgust for the Conservative media. Because of this, Media Matters has a hateful agenda and is an untrustworthy source for information.
moll flanders says
John…Thank you for your comment. I know whatever I would say would only come back as a personal verbal attack on me instead of my previous comment.
William says
@John
You just illustrated your own bias which is an ‘unreasoned judgement’. Do you get that?
Thank you very much.
Just like moll flanders, you provide no facts to support your claim.
Do you believe that Fox’s Bill O’Reilly told the truth about all the combat zones he said he was at and witnessed nuns being shot in the head in Nicaragua or was knocking the door of a guy associated with the JFK assassination and hearing a gunshot as the guy committed suicide? He wrote that in his book ‘Killing Kennedy’ but he was actually in Dallas when the guy killed himself in Florida.
That is a conservative media lie that Media Matters researches and exposes. The typical reply in MM’s comment section from those on the right is to ignore the facts and say “O’Reilly has high ratings”. I hope you aren’t going to go down that road.
That is on the Media Matters site with facts showing that Bill O’Reilly is a serial liar and Fox ‘news’ is simply buying O’Reilly’s lies as the truth.
If you still believe O”Reilly, I’ll paste some of the facts from Media Matters for you to read. However, you don’t seem to rely much on facts, John.
So, I’ll hold off on that if it looks like it will be a waste of bandwidth.
Frank Rizzo says
@ William – You have never posted a fact on this site. You talking about bias is like kettle calling pot black.
moll flanders says
Media Matters is not reliable! Media Matters is biased, and you will never hear the truth from a biased point of view. Check out Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. CREWSMostCorrupt.org is a list of the most corrupt politicians, which offers short summaries of each member’s transgressions as well as full-length profiles and all accompanying exhibits. The list of 15 is 8 Democrats and 7 Republicans. The political filth goes both ways.
William says
@moll
You unwittingly expressed your own ‘bias’ in your comment. The word ‘bias’ has a negative connotation and you used it that way but it wasn’t accurate.
From Merriam-Webster online>
b : an inclination of temperament or outlook; especially : a personal and sometimes unreasoned judgment : prejudice
c : an instance of such prejudice
Read Media Matters mission statement below. Its articles analyzing and correcting conservative information are not ‘unreasoned judgements’.
MM shows actual videos and transcripts of instances where conservative media lies and misinforms and does its research and provides the accurate information or, in some cases, a previous opposing statement by the same person illustrating hypocrisy.
Of course, the comment section is loaded with actual ‘biased’ comments from both sides of the political spectrum.
Your first sentence that Media Matters is unreliable is unreliable itself unless you can provide examples of such unreliability. Your just saying so isn’t good enough since you apparently have your own bias based on an unreasoned judgement about Media Matters.
I really didn’t know how narrowly defined the word ‘bias’ is as it’s used so commonly and casually. According to Merriam-Webster’s definition, a person working in a homeless shelter does NOT have a bias against homelessness which is an unreasoned judgement. I suspect that such a person has a well-reasoned judgement about homelessness.
I hope this helps your understanding of Media Matters’ mission and the nature of ‘bias’. It is not a news site nor is its mission to report and analyze liberal misinformation. Many people mistakenly go to it and complain about both those misunderstandings of its mission.
That’s why I had to explain to someone here that you don’t go to a Burger King and expect them to make you a Big Mac. Is Burger King biased for making its Whopper? The answer is no according to the dictionary.
William says
@moll flanders
You posted a comment calling Media Matters biased and that you will never hear the truth from a biased point of view.
That was untrue. I posted the definition of ‘bias’ and explained to you why that wasn’t so regarding that site.
In fact, the word ‘bias’ applied more accurately to you and John.
Then, you come back and play the ‘moll flanders’ card saying that I’ll attack you when I am correcting your inaccurate comment.
Do you not understand that you made a false comment? MM is well-researched and provides a ‘reasoned judgement’ of conservative media’s lies and misinformation.
You may not like that but that’s not Media Matters’ doing when they provide a correction to misinformation by outlets such as Fox ‘news’ and other conservative outlets.
Have you actually read articles on Media Matters or are you simply repeating talking points from conservative media outlets instead?
Dauntless says

@Jason
“Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media.”
Every day on nearly every article some RWNJ posts a comment such as “What about Obama doing such and such?” or “MSNBC said yada, yada, yada”. And, they have to be reminded where they are and what the mission statement is.
I’m reminded of the never-ending corrections of those RWNJ’s notions of what the site is and isn’t when you tell me that I don’t criticize Democrats and liberals. It isn’t a news site. It doesn’t analyze progressive news outlets. And, I have no duty to you to criticize Democrats.
But, the RWNJs can’t seem to get it….and neither can you. Do you go to Burger King and ask for a Big Mac? That’s how you occur…….’obtuse’.
Sorry, but it’s true, not just once or twice but routinely for many months now.
Jason says
And your point of bringing up sites I don’t read or quote is? You talk about me being obtuse but you go off on tangents that no one gets, such as this. I’ve never read that website or quoted it so I guess I’ll be obtuse about whatever point it is you are trying to make
William says
@Jason
You don’t ever have to go to that website to get the example and the comparison.
You need to take a reading comprehension class. How did you get through the 6th grade?
Just like right wingers go to that site and expect it to be other than what its stated mission is, you expect me to criticize Democrats equally as republicans. And, you think that that is somehow a valid criticism. I’m not a journalist. I don’t have to do that.
However, I don’t see you doing the same thing yourself. That’s called hypocrisy, Jason. When I call you a hypocrite, I give your the example unlike when you’ve called me that.
There is a lot to go after republicans. You don’t but you do go after Democrats doing the very thing you accuse me of doing.
That you can’t get that is why you are ‘obtuse’. You don’t have to go to either Burger King or McDonald’s to get that going to one and ordering something from the other place’s menu is silly and that’s how you occur. That’s called an ‘analogy’ to help you to understand but even that simple example confused you.
It’s not complicated.
And, how do you know no one gets my point? You certainly don’t get it yet you project your ‘obtuseness’ on others, once again revealing how you think.
Speaking of no one getting the point of a comment, I refer you to your own comment about a nameless person who did something illegal with no sources. Yet, you expect others to Google it themselves. You might as well have posted your shopping list as that nothing comment. You sure expect things from others that you don’t deliver yourself.
And, that’s why that guy called you ‘obtuse’. Simple, everyday things like comparisons to illustrate a point go right over your head and keep on going.
I think I once said you were hopeless and your reply above is just one more example of it.
Stop digging that hole you’re in. Did you notice that after ‘wow’ went on the ridiculous rant, s/he disappeared after calling me a liar? Did his/her rant make sense to you? His/her reply reminded me of your comments.
Jason says
Lol here we go with the reading comprehension again. Maybe if you’re posts weren’t so muddled and off the wall, people might actually get whatever point you are trying to make.
I’ve criticized the Republicans multiple times, but surprise surprise, it gets ignored because I call out both sides. I’ve pointed out your blatant hypocrisy multiple times, just like the multiple times you’ve been proven wrong, which also get ignored. And pointing out the hypocrisy of the Democrats isn’t absolving the Republicans of any ring doing or being a hypocrite but ignore that too.
I’m obtuse because your analogy made Noe sense? Gotcha
And sorry for not putting sources when I use my phone, the horrors of not putting a source. It was simply pointing out that the State Department had an employee, Daniel Rosen, arrested for trying to solicit a minor for sex. Must be another one of those crimes that you don’t deem as important since you attacked me for not putting a source. But we all know the only sources you like are the ones that fit your argument since you ignore the ones that prove you wrong.
William says
@Jason

Let’s start over with something you’ll understand.
Dauntless says
I want to know, since, when, is it a crime to have a parentally supervised birthday party for a 15 year old, at your own home, on a friday night??!! The police (THREE cop cars) showed up around 10 pm saying, ” that there was a noise complaint” and also said, ” that he was required to write a ticket”? And, the homeowner was to ” end the party” !! The group of teenagers were in the backyard, not bothering anyone, not roaming the streets unsupervised, and not doing anything illegal !! Will somebody please explain to me, what this is all about?!
John says
It is a crime to have a party that may disturb a neighbor in just about every city in the United States. And definitely if that party continues past 10 pm in Palmdale and 9 pm in Lancaster.
Check your local city ordinances and you will see that the parent/homeowner broke the law and rightfully received a citation.
Dauntless says
It was a choice that the officer made. And I’m positive that his decision was made, based on his ignorance of “profiling”!!!
Nancy P says
In Lancaster, the cops pick and choose who they ticket or warn.
William says
@Nancy P
Complaining again, Nancy. I thought you didn’t approve of complaints.
Now, don’t forget. You started this.
Mr fed up says
People complain tell there’s a shooting, the sheriff’s are doing a good job shuting down crazy parties
Dauntless says
Mr fed up, it wasn’t a crazy party. It was a party for a bunch of dorky teens. They’re really good kids.
Nancy P says
I don’t think anyone was complaining. I know I wasn’t. I was simply stating a fact that has been witnessed and commented on numerous times. Dauntless, was just asking a question and expressing an opinion.
Once again William being a jerk and trying to start an argument.
William says
I told you, Nancy P. that you started it with me a while back so your comments are up criticism now.
You flew out of the blue to criticize my comments and now you’re complaining about being moderated and yada, yada, yada.
Nancy P says
Are you threatening me William? You are scary!
Nancy P says
Of course my comment is being moderated, even though Williams off topic remarks get through.
William says
There ya go again, Nancy P.
Mine get moderated too.
You must really let fly with the [removed].
William says
Oh, get over yourself, Nancy P.
Why do you suppose your comments are being moderated in the first place? Did you write something ‘scary’ yourself that wasn’t posted?
I just let you know that I’ll be giving your comments ‘enhanced scrutiny’. If you are real nice, nothing from me. But, if you complain about anything, I’ll remind you that that was what you accused me of doing. Got it???? That’s all.
If that occurs as a big threat, your are probably suffering from paranoia.
I’ve told you twice now that you started this by whining about my comments. You recently called me a ‘jerk’.
I really didn’t read your comments before other than noticing your regular interest in crime statistics in the various cities shown in the ‘Recent comments’ section on the right. Your questions about the stats didn’t interest me at all.
However, you thought it was okay to do a ‘hit and run’ on my comments. Isn’t that so?
Nancy P says
The comment I made at 4:15 had nothing reckless, threatening or offensive. It did post shortly after I mentioned that your offensive and abusive comments always seem to get passed through.
Paranoid? You are hilarious. How elementary! You are a fool William and I am done giving you the time of day.
William says
So, Nancykins
You’ve called me a jerk, a fool and accused me of threatening you and, yet, you complain that your comments are moderated.
Duh. What kind of person does that, Nancy P.? Why, you, of course.
Are you ‘threatening’ me by withholding the time of day from now on? What will I do?
Ah, Apple has a new watch out. So, I’m good.
However, I will check your comments from time to time to see if you are complaining about something and I won’t have to worry about your, uh, feedback.
Thank you. Thank you very much.
Now, back to your regular programming-crime statistics in Lancaster.
Dauntless says
I heard the same thing today about the Palmdale police. They can also pick and choose. Well, they chose to give this hard-working, tax-paying, community serving, home-owning man a $500.00 ticket! They could’ve given him a warning, first. I’m pretty sure, as to why they didn’t, but, that’s a whole other story! Funny thing is, about a year ago, during the afternoon, some of the kids were playing basketball in the front yard and the police showed up because they were playing to loudly and told them to take their game to their backyard. Never talked to either of the parents? Just gave the kids a warning….for playing basketball!!! WTH?
JustTweakIt says
Next time notify your neighbors ahead of time when your going to have a party. That way it shows your trying to be respectable as well as responsible. You will find out most neighbors are cool bout it but if you have neighbors that have odd work hours you might be disturbing their sleep time and that is not fair for that neighbor.Communication works best.Good Luck hope 16th birthday party isn’t a bust.
really says
Its simple to explain. You were disturbing the peace which is a crime. There is an epidemic of people in this valley of people who think its their right to have a party and blast loud music. Your teaching your children that its ok to do what you want and that being a good neighbor doesnt. If you want to have a party with music and dancing rent a hall at the elks lodge or a place designed to hold such events.
Dauntless says
I live in an older, well-established, family, neighborhood and none of us ever have to call the police on one another for “noise”. We all know that once in a while, there are family celebrations and get-togethers. Now, if it was an on-going problem, that is a nuisance!
William says

The republicans are liars when they call themselves Christians. See the current GOP politicians in Congress for examples. And, those GOP hopefuls running for president.
Yeah, Jason. There IS a difference in the 2 political parties.
wow says
William…You just told a lie by quoting John Fugelsang’s lie! Those are Fugelsang’s words, NOT said by the Son of God. It’s always a good idea to do your own homework William, so you can be a credible commenter. Your angry outbursts are clouding your thought process’s
William says
@wow
Wow is right. The words were in quotes attributed to John Fugelsang and NOT Jesus. I can’t believe that that went right past you.
It’s always a good idea to carefully read a comment before replying so absurdly to it, to paraphrase your own words.
Fugelsang said “Jesus NEVER SAID…….”
You need to take a reading comprehension class before you ever comment here again.
Here’s a quote from you that applies to you given how you totally misread my comment. There was no ambiguity in my comment to excuse your reply.
“Your angry outbursts are clouding your thought process’s” That’s you.
BTW Are you one of those lying republican ‘Christians’ since you reacted so strongly to my comment? Your reply wasn’t based on an accurate reading of mine.
This comment is mainly for other readers since it will simply bounce off your noggin.
Your turn.
wow says
William, that comment has to be one of the saddest attempts at trying to make Republicans look bad. Picking a quote by John Fugelsang, who obviously doesn’t know anything about the sacred texts, or what Jesus said. Your comment is not credible at all, and only reveals your misguided anger issues.
William says
@wow
Didn’t you actually misread my comment and who said the quote? Can you honestly answer that without your rant?
Fugelsang, in his own words, said what Jesus DIDN’T SAY as a way of indicting the right for their un-Christian policies and efforts to undermine the weakest and poorest in our country.
Talk about sad. You can’t read. Isn’t that correct?
Your comment seems to indicate that you ARE a phony republican Christian. Isn’t that so? Why then the big upset?
The republicans have worked to cut social services for the poor for years or are you so blind you can’t see that? The “Jesus didn’t call the poor ‘lazy'” reference.
The republicans have worked to cut taxes on the rich since Reagan. The Nazarene reference. Or haven’t you noticed?
You certainly have revealed yourself to be quite ‘obtuse’*. You can’t read accurately and you defend the indefensible.
You can just imagine how republicans would treat lepers today in this country.
*obtuse from Merriam-Webster online
2 a : lacking sharpness or quickness of sensibility or intellect : insensitive, stupid
b : difficult to comprehend : not clear or precise in thought or expression
Where’s my anger when I wrote accurate statements? Point it out. That you don’t like my comment doesn’t mean I’m angry. You are actually the angry and upset one here. Check the veins in your forehead in the mirror.
I’m embarrassed for ya since you can’t realize your own errant communication skills.
Tell us, oh mighty theologian. What did Jesus have to say about how to treat the poor, the lepers and the rich?
I know you were there just like Bill O’Reilly was in multiple ‘combat zones’.
I’m sure you tell yourself you’re forgiven for posting a lie about my comment. It’s so convenient, isn’t it?
William says
@wow
You haven’t admitted yet that you misread my comment and went off on a rant. My complete reply is awaiting moderation and probably won’t appear till tomorrow. Stay tuned.
William says
@wow
I guess your credibility is shot judging by you totally backward reading of my comment and going a rant anyway.
William says
When is ‘wow’ gonna admit s/he lied?
Or, have we seen the last of that username?
Jason says
Not sure why you brought me up in a statement about politics and religion and how the parties are “different”. Since you’ve ignored why I’ve stated the parties are the same every time, I won’t waste my time explaining myself once again. Enjoy your soapbox William
William says
@Jason
You just did explain yourself in your comment. You can’t even keep your thoughts straight.
And, you need a reading comprehension class as well as ‘wow’. My original comment illustrated some of the differences between the 2 parties that you always deny. (your explanation in your reply)
The GOP uses Jesus but in practice does the opposite of what he taught. That is one of the big differences and you saw how ‘wow’ went off the rails misreading my comment in the exact opposite way. Any 4th grader could understand who said what in the Fugelsang quote. But, not ‘wow’.
That’s the right for ya. They constantly do that. And, facts don’t matter to them but you knew that.
Maybe now, you’ll stop replying to my comments that have nothing to do with you since you didn’t like my reference to you. You’re annoying.
William says
@Jason
It was preemptive. You typically jump in and reply when I make a political comment, mostly to disagree.
And, so you did with my encouragement this time.
So, when you posted the following on YOUR soapbox about an unnamed director of counter-terrorism with no sourcing, it’s OK. Got it. And, your comment just layed there like road kill. No one bothered to reply, agree, disagree or ask you for more information.
Jason
February 25, 2015 at 2:56 pm
And the State Department takes another hit in the eyes of the public. Doesn’t look good when the director of counterterrorism programs and policies gets arrested for soliciting a minor online.
Geez, Jason. Don’t you get tired of being hung with your own rope, so to speak? Or, ‘hoist with your own petard’. Your own words did it to you again and you’ll reflexively deny it…….again.
‘wow’ coudn’t or wouldn’t admit his mistake in his reply and just went on a rant. I wonder if you’ll do the same.
William says
Should read “…laid there like road kill.” But, I repeat myself.
Jason says
Pointing out that Daniel Rosen got arrested for soliciting a minor for sex online is nowhere close to what you do all the time. If you want sources, Google is full of articles about him and his arrest. Have I continued to harp on the situation, beating a dead horse like you do all the time? No I haven’t. As for the lack of comments, I could care less. If people decide to ask they do, if they don’t, they don’t. No skin off my back.
You calling out someone for not admitting a mistake is hilarious considering you’ve never done the same. Like I said enjoy that soapbox you’re on.
William says
@Jason
There you are, on YOUR soapbox.
‘wow’ said I told a lie and when I called him on it, he didn’t acknowledge it and said my comment was the saddest blah, blah, blah. That’s just like something you would do and he reminded me of you.
BTW Why didn’t you call out ‘wow’ on his lies?
Then, he disappeared. A one hit wonder like so many others.
You seem to forget how often you’ve replied to my mostly political comments that weren’t directed to you just to disagree and you’ve never admitted to making a mistake, have you?
I’ve posted your own words and it just goes right by you.
Despite your claim to be independent, you typically spout right wing ideology which would be fine (if nutty) but you won’t admit to it.
BTW I don’t recall you ever copying and pasting a comment of mine where I made a mistake. Just saying that I did and didn’t admit it is a typical right wing practice that you use.
I acknowledge that I’m a Democrat and you expect me to go after Democrats equally as I go after republicans a la the Fox ‘news’ fair & balanced nonsense.
I don’t hear Jason commenting on how terrible the new GOP led Congress that has done nothing since taking office. They’ve pulled their own bills because they didn’t have enough republican votes such as one on abortion (yet again) and one on immigration. Then, they passed a Keystone bill that they were told the the President would veto and he did. Then, they did that Netanyahu stunt. Why don’t you say anything about their incompetence, mr. independent?
Meanwhile, the unemployment rate is 5.5% and 295,000 jobs were created in February, the 12th straight month of jobs creation. But, you knew that, right. It’s all Obama’s fault.
I want to remind you of the definition of ‘obtuse’ which I posted earlier. I borrowed it from someone else who described you that way but it works for me to use it as well.
This section is called ‘Readers Speak Out’ yet you seem to have a problem with my comments but not the really nasty trashy ones with words removed on other articles. You’re so selective in your criticism. I must be doing something right.
Well, skip them. You know how to scroll down dontcha? Or, go read endless arguments over traffic accidents in the AV.
Here’s more Jason on HIS SOAPBOX.

For as much as the left rightfully makes fun of some on the right for the idiotic things they say, they sure are hypocritically silent on absolutely moronic statements from Bloomberg and Deputy spokesperson for the State Department Marie Harf. Saying the key to defeating ISIS is by giving them jobs is one of the most idiotic things I have ever heard in my life. Giving them jobs is going to cause them to give up their religious extremism and jihad against the West? And if some from the right had said what Bloomberg had, all we would be hearing how racist it is that it was said. Yet somehow since it was said by someone on the left, its no big deal.
and this
Jason
February 19, 2015 at 11:08 am
I consider Bloomberg from the left because is his idiocy and lies when it comes to gun control. Gun control is something from the left and something he has no problem funding and lying about.
Yes, both sides are equal when it comes to lies, corruption and stupid comments. Corruption regardless of stature is still corruption but for you, only their status determines whether is bad or not.
You bring up no convictions in the Obama administration. Kind of hard to do that when Holder was in charge as the AG.
Of course you don’t see it, you’re nowhere near an objective observer. You, as usual, ignore every thing the Democrats do while bashing the Republicans for doing the same things. I’ve listed several examples in the past yet you ignore or severely down play them because they prove that the Democrats do the same thing.
They are radical Islamic terrorists, so why call them anything other than what they are? Giving them jobs isn’t going to change their mind set and all of a sudden they aren’t going to join ISIL. Funny how some of them are educated and in some cases come from families with money and yet still become radical terrorists. They buy into the rhetoric and nothing is going to change that or their mindset.
“They buy into the rhetoric and nothing is going to change that or their mindset.” Sounds like a republican mindset too.
It’s called hypocrisy when you do what you accuse others of doing, Jason.
I’m sure there are many more from past months.
William says
@Jason
Dontcha know the protocol?
When you write a comment like you did YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE THE SOURCES AND AT LEAST THE NAME OF THE PERSON YOU ARE REFERRING TO.
Just like you expect me to criticize Democrats or answer all your questions while you don’t criticize republicans to the extent you criticize Democrats or answer all questions, it’s predictable that you would write a comment with no names or sources and expect others to do the Googling themselves. Unbelievable.
No pass.
Typical Jason.

Rex Parris has no shame. His thirst for money and power has no limits and this was a beautiful comeuppance and it is public.
He has been rewarded for his bad behavior by his faith-based gaggle of voters in Lancaster and so he thinks he can do anything he wants and get away with it.
Somehow, that seems like the opposite of Christian practices.

Three years ago I was rearended by a Sheriff on his police B.M.W. motorcycle.( that weighs 700 lbs not including the ridder) He was going aprox. 15-20 m.p.h., and I was stopped at a yellow/red light, he claimed he wasn’t paying attention in front of him but thought we were both going to make it through the light. I had seen the police officer across the st. stopped at the light and I didnt want to get a ticket, so at the yellow light I stopped behind the line. All of a sudden I was slammed from behind by the sheriff on his motorcycle, I looked in my rearview mirror and seen him practically doing a hand stand on his bike! Then the light turned green and he yelled at me to go through the intersection… His bike was so bad he could barely push it across the street. They had to call a flat bed to come get his motorcycle!!! The forks were bent into the engine case, they got most of my information and told me to go ahead and go and they would contact me in a few days, a week went by and they never contacted me. That day of the accident I was really sore and had a big purple rash on my neck from the seat belt. The following day I went to Kuzyk Law for legal advice….(My 1st mistake) I should of went out of this valley for a lawyer but not knowing any better, this is who I choose. Well they didn’t want to take care of my injuries to my neck (two hurniated discs in my neck) At this time I had no insurance and was in alot of pain!!! I don’t understand, He hit me, it was his fault , I was injured, three years later when my attorney goes to court for the first time, he said they offered me $ 1000.00 and my attorney told me to take it because he wasn’t going to go to trial for me, because I would lose because we didn’t have enough evidence against them, If I would of hit him, I probally would of gone to jail or who knows!!! My surgery alone is going to cost $200,000.00 What am I to do??? PLEASE someone help what would you all do???
CAP'N LANCASTER says
THERE IS A CERTAIN LAWYER WHO LOVES TO SUE PUBLIC AGENCYS LIKE SCHOOL DISTRICTS AND CITYS AND BUSINESSES AND VFW POSTS WHO WOULD PROBABLY LOVE TO TAKE YOUR CASE. THERES MONEY TO BE MADE. CAP'N LANCASTER says
ATTEN HUN! CAP’N LANCASTER HERE WITH YOUR LANCASTER CITY COUNCIL UPDATE.
ITS OFFICIAL: THE REX ‘LECTRIC COMPANY IS IN BUSINESS. NOW THE CAP’N HAS BEEN PRETTY ROUGH ON OLE REX FOR SOME OF HIS IDEAS. LIKE WHENS HE SAID HE WAS GONNA MAKE LANCASTER A CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY. NOT A GOOD IDEA WHENS YOU HAVE PEOPLE OF THE JEWISH, MUSLIM, SIKH, BUDDHIST AND PAGAN PERSUATIONS WHO LIVE IN YOUR CITY. THEN WHENS HE PUT THEM THERE BIRD NOISES ON THE BLVD TO MAKE CRIME GO AWAY, AND THEN THE CRIMES GO UP. (MAYBE BIRD SOUNDS ATTRACT HOMELESS PEOPLES AND TATTOO PARLORS CAUSE THE BLVD HAD LOT OF BOTH). THEN WHENS HE BUYS THIS EYE IN THE SKY SPY PLANE THAT’S AS USELESS AS TEETS ON A BULL. THEN WHENS HE TRIES TO PUT A SUPER WALMART NEXT TO THEM KIDDIES AT QUARTZ HILL HIGH SCHOOL. SO OLE REX IS FULL OF DUMB IDEAS, BUT HE MAY BE ONTO SOMETHING WITH THIS ‘LECTRIC COMPANY.
IT LOOKS WE THE PEOPLES CAN SAVES 3 PERCENT ON OUR ‘LECTRIC BILLS WHICH IS GOOD. THAT IS IF WE CHOOSE THE SORTA GREEN PLAN. IF WE CHOOSE THE GREEN PLAN, WE’S PAYS MORE PLUS A FEE. NOW CALL ME A CYNIC BUT AINT OLE REX BEEN FLYIN AROUND IN HIS FOSSIL FUEL POWERED PRIVATE PLANT ALL ACROSS THE LAND TO PLACES LIKE BEND OREGON PREACHIN THE EVILS OF FOSSIL FUELS? AINT OLE REX TALKING GREEN OUT ONE SIDE OF HIS MOUTH AND THEN SELLING FOSSIL FUELS OUT THE OTHER? THE SORTA GREEN PLAN OF HIS HAS 35 PERCENT GREEN AND THE OTHER 65 PERCENT IS OIL, GAS, COAL OR WHATEVER THE HELL ELSE THEYS BURNING. I THOUGHT THAT WAS KILLIN THIS HERE PLANET? I THOUGHT THAT WHY OLE REX AND OLE MARV WERE TELLIN THERE TALES ABOUT PALMDALES POWER PLANT KILLIN ALL THEM KIDS PLAYIN SOCCER. LOOKS LIKE ITS OK TO KILL KIDS PLAYING SOCCER SO LONG AS ITS NOT IN LANCASTER. HOW COME OLE REX IS SO GREEN UNTIL IT COMES TO HIS ‘LECTRIC COMPANY? PROBABLY CAUSE OLE REX WILL BE MAKING LOTS OF GREEN BENJAMINS AND WE ALL KNOW HOW MUCH OLE REX LIKES LIVING IN BIG MANSIONS AND DRIVING FANCY CARS.
SPEAKING OF LIVING IN BIG MANSIONS, THE CAP’N GOT A GOOD LAUGH WHEN OLE REX WAS TALKING TO GADFLY JAZON SINK ABOUT THE ‘LECTRIC PLANT. OLE REX THINKS THAT BY OFFERING LOWER RATES COMPANYS WILL BE BEE LINING TO LANCASTER. JAZON SINK AGREED AND WONDERED WHY OLE REX COULDN’T GET COMPANIES TO MOVE AWAY FROM LOS ANGELES AND THE BEACH AND MOVE INTO THE VACANT BANK OF AMERICA BUILDING. (OR THE VACANT STARWOOD BUILDING WHICH IS VACANT AFTER REX SUED THE PANTS OFF THEM). OLE REX MADE SOME REMARK ABOUT HIS CITY ATTORNEY PAYING 30 BUCKS A SQUARE FOOT FOR OFFICE SPACE WITH A VIEW OF THE BEACH AND WONDERED WHY SHE DIDN’T MOVE TO LANCASTER FOR A BUCK A SQUARE FOOT. EARTH TO REX! EARTH TO REX! IT’S THE SAME REASON YOU BARELY LIVE IN LANCASTER ANYMORE. IT’S THE BEACH YOU KNUCKLEHEAD. PEOPLE LIKE THE BEACH. THAT’S WHY IT COST AN ARM AND A LEG TO BUILD A MANSION NEAR THE BEACH, RIGHT OLE REX? IT AINT CHEAP LIVIN NEAR THE BEACH SO YOUS BETTER MAKE A GOOD INCOME. LOOKS LIKE SUIN FOLKS AND SCHOOLS AND BUSINESSES AND VFW HALLS AND CITYS IS GOOD INCOME.
ANOTHER THING THAT BOTHERS THE CAP’N ABOUT OLE REX’S ‘LECTRIC COMPANY IS HOW COME HE NEVER USES NO AMERICAN COMPANYS? THE COMPANY HE WILL BE BUYING ‘LECTRICITY FROM IS A BRITISH OWNED COMPANY. NOW THE CAP’N LOVES THE BRITS BUT WHY NOT FIND AN AMERICAN COMPANY? ITS BAD ENOUGH THAT OLE REX IS IN BED WITH THE COMMUNIST CHINESE, BUT NOW HE CANT BUY POWER FROM AN AMERICAN COMPANY?
ONE LAST THING THAT RILED THE CAP’NS FEATHERS A BIT. ALL THIS RAH RAH FROM OLE SANDRA DEE AND THE GANG ABOUT HOW HISTORIC THIS ALL IS. I HATE TO TURN THE LIGHTS ON A GOOD PARTY BUT THEYS DOIN THIS IN MARIN AND SONOMA ALREADY. ONLY THEYS MORE GREEN THAN OLE REX’S ‘LECTRIC COMPANY. LOOKS LIKE THE GOOD PEOPLE OF MARIN AND SONOMA ARE MORE INTERESTED IN GOING GREEN THAN MAKIN GREEN.
WE’LL SOON SEE IF THIS LATEST IDEA TURNS OUT TO BE A DISASTER LIKE MOST OF OLE REX’S KOOKIE ONES. IT LOOKS TO THE CAP’N THAT THIS MIGHT WORK IN SPITE OF OLE REX. TIME WILL TELL.
THIS HAS BEEN CAP’N LANCASTER WITH YOUR LANCASTER CITY COUNCIL UPDATE. AT EASE!

President Obama has requested limited authorization to fight ISIS.
Speaker Boehner wants more expanded authorization for the President.
I’m guessing that since Boehner and the GOP reliably oppose everything that the President proposes, maybe Barack is playing Boehner by asking for the opposite of what he really wants.
Then, Boehner and the GOP are on the hook for voting for expanded authorization. Is John of Orange that naive? I’d say “Yes”. Now, he’s about to discontinue funding for Homeland Security in another one of his hostage taking attempts.
They’re not too bright in the GOP. They’ve already pulled their own bills on abortion and immigration. They voted for the Keystone pipeline, along with our new Rep. Steve Knight, as an oil pipeline or train carrying oil bursts or explodes almost every week in this country and typically the oil flows into a nearby river. Yesterday, it was a train in West Virginia.
The Gulf of Mexico is still a mess from the BP spill but y’know republicans, “Drill, baby, drill”.
The new republican majority Congress just voted to repeal Obamacare for the 56th time, a ridiculous waster of time. They’ve had 6 years to come up with ‘their’ plain and they still haven’t.
We are now going to see just how poorly the GOP Congress can govern in the next 2 years. So far, so bad. Next year will be ‘campaign season’ (actually, it’s already started) and look out. Insanity will rule the day.
I think I’ll stock up on loads of popcorn for the GOP ‘show of shows’, their debates, caucuses and primaries. Their last go around will look like a Mensa meeting compared to this coming GOP circus. Their 11th Commandant will be tossed early on and it will be dog eat dog eat dog.
Rand Paul isn’t shy about going after other republicans. I’ll be cheering him on. Loudmouth, Chris Christie, will bully his fellow candidates. Jeb Bush will have to pretend the past never existed which is easy for republicans. And, ‘freedom of speech’ will sink Ted Cruz rather quickly.
Cadillac had to build a stretch clown car for the dozen or so GOP hopefuls. It only drives in reverse with all seats facing rearward on 4 flat tires and no spare. Of course, it won’t have any seatbelts because that’s government intrusion into their freedom. It won’t need airbags because each candidate IS one.
The Cadillac Fleetwood Stretch Clown motor car will be paid for by Charles and David Koch and Sheldon Adelson after their rings have been kissed along with certain body parts. GOP candidates should hold up signs saying “Will kiss your behind for money”.

“Bloomberg”????
From Wikipedia
“A Democrat before seeking elective office, Bloomberg switched his party registration in 2001 to run for mayor as a Republican. He defeated opponent Mark Green in a close election held just weeks after the September 11 terrorist attacks. Bloomberg won a second term in 2005 and left the Republican Party two years later.[4] He campaigned to weaken the city’s term limits law and was elected to his third term in 2009 as an independent candidate on the Republican ballot line.”
An ‘independent’, like you, I guess.
It was ‘obtuse’ for you to throw in Bloomberg in the context of your comment calling the left hypocrites given his ever changing political affiliations. The left doesn’t consider Bloomberg one of our own so why did you do it?
This is a test question for ya, Jason.
Do you think the corruption, lies and stupid comments are equally distributed between the Democrats and republicans or does one party have a significant lead in them?
I happen to think that the GOP/Fox/tea party assemblage leads the way maybe 70% to 80% of the time. The Democratic governor of Oregon just had to resign while the republican governor of Virginia, Bob McDonnell is going to prison.
Meahwhile, Rick Perry, Chris Christie and Scott Walker, all GOP presidential hopefuls are under criminal investigation for one thing or another. There have been no convictions of members of the Obama administration after 6 years of hard working republican efforts leading nowhere such as Benghazi.
republicans seem to think that creating false ‘scandals’ is the same as proving they are real scandals with convictions. They only have to ‘believe’ them to be true. Facts be darned.
Right now, John the Orange, is threatening to shut down funding for Homeland Security believing that the American people will blame the hostages rather than the hostage takers just like they did when he allowed the government shutdown. That’s a pretty big screw up and there’s lots more from that party.
Your comments that “Both parties do such and such” imply that there is symmetry when there isn’t to any objective observer and not just me.
As for Marie Harf, spokesperson for the State Department, you’ve been following the right winger websites and/or Fox ‘new’s, haven’t you? We have the similar problem in this country, in this Antelope Valley. We can jail all the our-of-work criminals that this site is full of commentary on or do something about educating young people better and creating worthwhile jobs for them so they can see a future rather than default to a life of crime.
Same thing in the Middle East. What future do those young terrorists have in a country we’ve destroyed in several avoidable Bush wars, both Bushes? They are enrolled in ISIS just like gang bangers are enrolled in gangs here in this country. We can’t kill them all and they enlist faster than we can kill them. But, it seems like the sources you go to for ‘news’ and opinion think that is the only way.
Well, it hasn’t worked very well so far. I bet you think that if only we called them “Radical-Islamic terrorists”, that will do the trick. Right? Right. Do tell us how that will make any difference other than it will please ISIS AND Fox ‘news’ personalities. The same ones that couldn’t accept the President saying ‘acts of terror’ instead of the Roger Ailes/Frank Luntz approved “terrorist acts”. Now, they want their new language used. They are totally obsessed with that while providing no good solutions themselves and for sure know less about the situation than those in the administration who have daily briefings and confidential informaton.
Your turn.
Jason says
I consider Bloomberg from the left because is his idiocy and lies when it comes to gun control. Gun control is something from the left and something he has no problem funding and lying about.

William says
@Jason
Why is that you seem to repeat right wing talking points 90% of the time and rarely criticize the monumental lies and corruption of the right. And, you keeping saying “They both do it”.
I make no bones about being a Democrat yet you expect me to criticize Democrats equally when you don’t do it equally despite pretending to be outside of it.
Who is being the honest one here?
William says
Tell us, Jason.
What difference will it make to call them ‘radical-Islamic terrorists’? That’s a right wing obsession that you are parroting now, isn’t it Jason? That didn’t originate in your thinking. Your comment coincides with the recent flare up about it on Fox and in the GOP. Were you calling them that 2 years ago when the right wing fuss was over ‘acts of terror’ versus ‘terrorist acts’? This is just more of that same nonsense.
Well, what difference would it make? Tell us. Have you thought it through or are you just repeating repeating repeating. But, I repeat myself.
That is one of my major observations about the GOP/tea party/whatever. They make these bold simplistic declarations about everything and don’t ever think things through to the possible outcome or what might be the unintended consequences. They do it on every issue. They desperately want the Keystone oil pipeline, including our very own Steve Knight (who will be a reliable GOP sheep) while wanting to dismantle or get rid of the EPA. Insanity. If they supported both, they might have some credibility but they don’t and apparently never will.
Consider that the President doesn’t want to alienate over 1 billion Muslims by doing exactly what ISIS wants which is to frame this as a war on Islam. In fact, he wants the partnership of moderate Muslims to join in fighting ISIS as they’ve sat back far too long. And, Fox ‘news’ obliges them by creating this furor over what to call them to associate them with Islam……and you do the same thing.
The right wingers hair is on fire because of what Marie Harf said about getting to the source of the problem in the ME. I told you that I Googled her name and the first batch of listings was right wing hysteria. I just pointed out that their own guy, W, said virtually the same thing.
And, your reply is something about it being 13 years ago as though that dismisses the hypocrisy of the Fox/GOP lie factory. The right had no problem when Bush said it. That was the point. The 13 year gap is irrelevant.
Can’t you get the astounding hypocrisy on the right about everything that the President does despite other presidents doing the same things, especially the last republican one? Their guy who they didn’t bat an eye when he said it.
And, that’s not just the only thing. They do it constantly.
You portray yourself as some neutral outside observer when your comments suggest otherwise. Your disdain for Bloomberg is right out of the GOP jukebox. Press K-12 and out pops the talking point about his stance on guns. I showed you his party affiliations over the years but you ignored that. He’s now an independent but you ‘consider’ him on the left because of his position on guns.
Well, I consider you on the right by your various comments. So, you’re not really an outside observer, are you? You’re a closet right winger, aren’t you? You’ve mentioned the President’s JV comment several times here, a right wing talking point once again. it was a mistake but you’re gonna run with it like they do a Fox ‘news’.
Meanwhile, Jordan and Egypt have joined in the fight and it’s likely more neighboring countries will. I think that is how it should be instead of the right wing’s desire that we do do all the fighting and ‘lead’ the way which only makes us a bigger enemy in the ME and a bigger target for retaliation. I don’t know if that is the President’s ‘secret’ strategy by not putting combat troops in but I suspect he keeps much to himself. The GOP/Fox machine wants to know what the strategy is and I’m sure that ISIS does too but the GOP/Fox lie factory is too stupid to realize that. Fox plays the torture video which is exactly why ISIS and the rest make them and Fox does their work for them. How stupid? How insane is that?
If Bloomberg’s position on guns puts him on the left, then your position on guns puts you on the right or maybe even the far right. You just won’t acknowledge that as you pretend to be outside of it and neutral.
That’s the bottom line in all our discussions of this type. You pretend to be outside of the 2 party struggle yet you almost always take the right wing POV and your criticisms of the right are minor given how huge their mistakes, lies and disastrous results have been for years. I’m not pretending to be ‘outside’ of it or ‘neutral’ yet you call me a hypocrite. I think you have it backward.
Oh, and didn’t you say the the recent GREAT BUSH RECESSION was the result of the dot com boom/bust from before Bush was elected, over 8 years prior? That was a stretch I’ve never heard before. That Bush had a surplus on DAY 1 and left the biggest mess since the 1930s by the time he finished destroying the economy seems lost on you, the neutral, ‘objective’ observer.
Your turn.

So calling them radical Islamic extremists is going to alienate the billion who arent? If that alienates them, then we have a bigger problem on our hands. They either know the difference between themselves and or ignore it and dont care because it attacks Islam in some perverted way.
Jobs isnt the root of the problem in the ME. Its radical sects of Islam who want nothing more to do than take what the Qur’an says and fight a holy war like they did in the Crusades.
Oh yes I do get the astounding hypocrisy. Ive brought it up multiple times but yet somehow that gets ignored. The left did the same thing to Bush and now are crying about it now that its done to Obama and the right are hypocrites for doing it.
It was a mistake just like Bush’s Mission Accomplished. It was a mistake that now has us fighting a group much much larger and powerful because he underestimated them.
Im a hypocrite for at least criticizing them while pointing out the hypocrisy of the left and the right? Gotcha.
No I said it played a part along with the housing mortgage crisis. The housing bubble and its collapse was a huge part in why this country went into recession yet the root of that started back in the 70s and continued on with mistakes being made all the way into the late 1990s and early 2000s. The Gramm Leach Bailey act was brought forth by Republicans, cleared both the House and the Senate with overwhelming approval by both Republicans and Democrats, then signed into law by Clinton. That law had a huge effect on what happened. It basically took away regulatory oversight over lenders. I fail to see where Bush played a part in that considering he wasnt in the House or Senate and wasnt President when that bill was signed.
GSEs, which also played a role in the mortgage crisis, werent well regulated either. But I guess you will ignore Bush’s attempts to create an agency to oversee them. As far back as 2001 the Bush administration was warning what could happen if GSEs failed yet nothing happened. In 2003 they sought to create a new agency to oversee Freddy Mac and Fannie Mae. A bill was proposed by Democrat Jon Corzine and it didnt get out of the bipartisan Senate Banking, Housing and Urban affairs committee. A quote from Barney Frank
”These two entities — Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac — are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee. ”The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing.”
They were facing any kind of financial crisis?
In 2005, once again a bill was proposed to have more oversight over the loans given by the GSEs, once again nothing was done by the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs committee. This time the bill was put forth by 4 Republican Members of the committee and yet nothing was done.
I see mistakes on both sides that led to the recession and attempts by the Bush Administration to at least fix part of what played a role in it. Continue to lay the blame on solely one person when facts shows BOTH Democrat and Republicans had hand in the root of the crisis before Bush was even President. What else could Bush have done to prevent the Housing crisis that led to the great recession?
William says
Jason, the question was “What difference would it make to call them ‘radical-Islamic terrorists’?” You avoided and deflected on that didn’t you?
That’s why it’s so hard to discuss anything with you. You answer a question with question among other things you do.
You said>
” I fail to see where Bush played a part in that considering he wasnt in the House or Senate and wasnt President when that bill was signed.”
“For Immediate Release
Office of the Press Secretary
December 16, 2003
President Bush Signs American Dream Downpayment Act of 2003”
How did you miss that? The sub-prime boom was happening during Bush’s first term with a GOP majority in both Houses of Congress till 2006 yet you blame the Democrats during that time. Once again, you illustrate how biased you are while pretending to criticize equally. You bias is obvious and palpable.
Come on now. You cherry pick better than a Fox ‘news’ staffer.
Wow! You say that the ‘Mission Accomplished’ banner was a mistake. That is something, Jason. How about the invasion of Iraq based on lies is a mistake, y’know are really, really big mistake. And, Bush’s first Secretary of State, Paul O’Neil, wrote a book saying how in the first meetings of the administration in 2001 were about deposing Saddam and likely invading Iraq to do it. 9/11 became a good ‘excuse’ to do that despite no WMDs ever found. In addition, he said that Bush was generally checked out during those meetings.
Heck, I knew that Cheney/Bush was pushing an invasion of Iraq regardless of any real proof at the time. Didn’t you know that it was all bull back then?
Didn’t you think a disaster was coming back in 2004-5 when the news was reporting that Americans were maxing out on credit cards and taking out home equity loans during the sub-prime boom, lax regulations, jobs being outsourced that Americans had zero savings, that wages were stagnant since Reagan, that we were at war during a housing bubble and the war was off-budget and Bush tells Americans “To go shopping”.
Well, I did just like I knew that invading Iraq was big lie and that Dick Cheney was the acting president. Did you think Bush was really ‘The Decider’?
Nothing the Democrats have done can compare with the damage done during the Bush years and what the GOP/tea party is still doing. Homeland Security might not get funded next week because of Boehner.
The Democrats can certainly be criticized for letting the republicans get away with so much. But, then, how do you deal with pathological liars and sociopaths. And, I’m serious about calling the current GOP/tea party that.
What about you being on the far right because of you position on gun control?
William says
Jason, as for the question “What difference….?”. I haven’t heard an answer to that from anyone in the right winger sphere. They just demand that the Presidant call it that. Will that solve anything because you know that the right will ratchet it up another notch? It’s what they do. You must know that.
I was at least expecting you to find something to copy and paste since you couldn’t answer it yourself.
William says
@Jason
If I Google ‘Marie Harf’. the first bunch of listings are from right wing outlets criticizing her just like you did.
Did they include this speech as well?
“Many here today have devoted their lives to the fight against global poverty, and you know the stakes. We fight against poverty because hope is an answer to terror. We fight against poverty because opportunity is a fundamental right to human dignity. We fight against poverty because faith requires it and conscience demands it. And we fight against poverty with a growing conviction that major progress is within our reach.
We will challenge the poverty and hopelessness and lack of education and failed governments that too often allow conditions that terrorists can seize and try to turn to their advantage.”
What do you think of that speech, Jason?
Here’s who said it.
President George W. Bush’s Remarks To The International Conference on Financing for Development, United Nations, 3/22/02]
I thought you looked at both sides of the issues before you made your conclusions but I may be wrong.
You seen to criticize the Democrats more than the republicans even though you maintain they both do ‘it’, whatever ‘it’ is. Why is that, Jason? And, you have a real problem when I criticize the GOP/Fox/tea party enterprise. Why is that? Are you the only one who can post comments critical of politicians here?

Turning into a banner week in the war on terror. First we have Obama asking for permission to go after the JV team that shouldn’t have been an issue. Now we have the “success” story in Yemen completely falling apart and countries leaving as fast as they can. What next?
Jason says
Digging back 13 years huh? Once again you ignored one part of what I said to focus on another. She deserves the criticism just like all the idiotic statements from the right. Giving ISIS terrorists jobs isn’t going to stop them from committing terrorist acts.
I have a problem with your blatant hypocrisy. You act like the Dems do no wrong. You continually bash Republicans, yet when a Democrat does the equivalent, you act like nothing has happened or you downplay it saying its not on the same level.
And Obama deserves to get called out for his handling of ISIS and referring to them as the JV team. Funny how the current leader of the so called JV team has the second highest bounty on his head only behind the leader of Al-Qaeda. Or how the founder of the group that became ISIS was one of the worlds most wanted men. Calling them the JV after we had been fighting them for how long when they were known as Al-Qaeda of Iraq severely downplayed their danger and now were seeing the consequences of that.
Much like his call Yemen a success yet only a few months later, we along with several allies pull out of the country because of how fast it deteriorated. Guess we didn’t learn our lesson after Bush and Mission Accomplished did we? You know that if it were a Republican in Obamas shoes you would be criticizing him as well.

Oops! Apparently Obama lied back in 2008, when he said he only supported traditional marriage, (man and woman). The person accusing him is also a Democrat by the name of David Axelrod. They’re all liars, every one of them. We deserve everything that comes our way, because we the people vote them into office.
William says
@food
I thought President Obama was wise to hold back on endorsing marriage equality. Can you imagine the backlash from the right and Fox ‘news’ if he had been out front promoting it? I don’t know why that is so hard for people to get.
Haven’t you noticed that republicans vote against their own bills or pull them as I pointed out in the comment below? So, let’s get this straight. Marriage equality has been approved by the courts in ~37 states, so whatever the President did worked.
The GOP would have dropped any discussion of the 2 wars, the economy and anything else important to run with that 24/7 like they do with the most insignificant issues constantly.
Do you recall when the New York state legislature voted on marriage equality? The left criticized the President for not going there and promoting it, blah, blah, blah. He was very smart not to do that.
As it turned out some republicans voted for the bill and it passed. If he had gone to NY and endorsed it, those republicans might have been forced to vote ‘no’. Back then I was using the word ‘finesse’ to describe how he managed to ‘have’ things passed while it looked like he wasn’t doing anything. He really didn’t even push the ACA all that hard in 2009. Speaker Pelosi herded the Democratic cats to pass it.
The republicans weren’t going to vote for it even though they added amendments and it was their idea in the first place. That they didn’t vote for it says nothing about the bill but tells us a lot about republican obstruction.
Looks like Boehner’s invite of Nentanyahu is gonna backfire big time. Good. He shut down the government because the tea peoples forced him and then the GOP got blamed for it. They never learn. Never. Ever.
President Obama has had to beat the GOP at their own game. They oppose everything he does, so he has to pretend to not support something and, lo and behold, it passes on its own. You just can’t talk ‘straight’ to republicans. Witness the outrage from his speech at the prayer breakfast. Their hair went up in flames when he spoke accurately about the history of religion being hijacked by violent extremists. Heck, if Bill O’Reilly wasn’t being held in check by our secular Constitution, he’d be burning rap singers alive if he was allowed to.
foodforthought says
Wasn’t talking about just one man, but “Harry Truman and the Crisis Presidency,” ” the moral fiber of the Truman administration had been called into question. Corruption and lax prosecution etc. Obama scandals mirror Truman’s second term. And on, and on, and on. Putting a spin on an agenda is just plain deceptive. I will do my own research to learn the truth, but thank you for your comment.
William says
@food
Did you read my comment below re: Rachel’s report on the first month of a republican held Congress? We still have the Netanyahu fiasco coming up. I wonder how the GOP will screw up the President’s request for a war authorization.
Your reply was a non-sequitor. The point was Truman’s quote about how the ‘truth’ would affect the republicans and not about Truman himself.
You just went off on a tangent.
Has your ‘research’ showed that the Democrats and republicans are equally corrupt, not working for the interests of their constituents, equally beholden to their rich donors, etc.?
Of course there are ‘bad’ guys in both parties but the republicans have gone off the chart when it comes to destructive actions geared to bringing down a presidency at the expense of the country and its citizens. Republican governors refusing to expand Medicaid will likely have costed up to 17,000 lives last year.
foodforthought says
Well apparently you did not read my first comment that you thought you commenting on. You just said what I said first, wow! You are sorely afflicted with tunnel vision, a jejune and immature outlook. You see only what you want to see, and that sir is not the truth. Truman couldn’t talk about the truth when he himself was a liar. I leave you sir with your self deceptions. Thank you

President Harry Truman said it best about republicans.
“I won’t give them H***, I’ll give them the truth, they’ll just think its H***!”
Read my comment below this, foodforthought and tell me that the GOP is not worthy of criticism, harsh criticism.
If this is how they are going to govern the next 2 years, they will deserve a lot of criticisim. Quit pretending it is symmetrical between the 2 parties. It makes it seem like you aren’t paying attention.
William says
This is why I watch Rachel Maddow.
In the first five minutes of her show tonight she reported>
-the GOP has had control of the Congress for 1 month today exactly
-the first thing they did was try to pass 4 or 5 abortion bills and when they settled on one, they pulled it because some republican women in Congress revolted.
-then they tried to pass a republican immigration bill and then pulled it because they couldn’t agree on everything.
Now, mind you, the Democrats had no say in any of this.
-they passed a bill on the Keystone pipeline in the same week gas was below $2 a gallon and there were 3 oil pipeline explosions or burstings, flowing into rivers, etc. One pipeline was about a year old. It’s very likely the President will veto the bill anyway.
-they voted to repeal Obamacare for the 56th time.
Are you sure you want republicans in charge of anything, anything at all? There are primitive tribes in the Amazon jungle that are better managed than the GOP. They are still around in the 21th century and might possibly outlast the republican party at the rate it’s going.
Rachel captures the bigger picture and can make a point backed up with research that many others fail at. At Fox ‘news’ they are wailing about the President’s speech at the Prayer Breakfast to rile their viewers who come to the teevee pre-riled anyway.
Discuss. Conservatives and ‘independents’.

Co-equal branches of government, if the President wishes to have a guest speaker it is his business as one of the co-equal branches of the Federal Government (Federal Executive Branch), so it is for Congress (Legislative branch) and the Federal Supreme Court (Judicial branch ). They can legally invite any guest speakers (Israeli Prime Minister) without permission from another two branches, that is Co-Equal. If anyone does not want to hear what the guest speaker has to say, just did not attend.

If prefer simple Independent voter but my views are conservative on most issues but not all. I do not get my marching orders from FOX no more than you from MSNBC. Topic #1. Did you miss the news that the White House responded by pointing to the established protocol that we don’t invite foreign leaders so soon to the elections in their own country? Diplomacy with foreign countries is nothing but protocols. Of course, republicans make up the rules and everything else as they go along. Benghazi!!!!
The republicans who complain if the President wears a tan suit while giving a speech, have no problem breaking with protocol and doing something controversial like inviting Netanyahu several weeks before his election. It’s raising a stink in Israel as well.
If Netanyahu loses his election, he can thank John Boehner.
And, then, there are those that have the nerve to whine that the President will not meet personally with Netanyahu. Really? The President didn’t invite him and, as was stated before, it’s not protocol to meet with him so close to his election for either the President or the joint session of Congress.
This whole controversy has nothing to do with the 3 branches of government. You are just distracting with that side issue. Hopefully, the Democrats in Congress won’t attend and let Boehner be responsible for the mess this will cause.
Topic #2 Correct about Rachel Maddow having a doctorate and also being a Rhodes Scholar. That’s why I like her. She’s so darn smart. However, there was a username here a while back called ‘Phd’.
I’d put up any 3 or 4 MSNBC hosts against any Fox ‘news’ hosts or anchors in a knowledge contest on politics, history, current events, etc. Dana Perino, Bush’s press secretary didn’t know about the Cuban Missile Crisis. Now, she’s at Fox.
“”I was panicked a bit because I really don’t know about . . . the Cuban Missile Crisis,” said Perino, who at 35 was born about a decade after the 1962 U.S.-Soviet nuclear showdown. “It had to do with Cuba and missiles, I’m pretty sure.”
Here’s Bill O’Reilly on God or something he knows little about. Hilarious.
“O’REILLY: I’ll tell you why [religion’s] not a scam, in my opinion: tide goes in, tide goes out. Never a miscommunication. You can’t explain that.
SILVERMAN: Tide goes in, tide goes out?
O’REILLY: See, the water, the tide comes in and it goes out, Mr. Silverman. It always comes in, and always goes out. You can’t explain that.”
Then, there is Fox & Friends with 3 of the most moronic teevee personalities ever discussing foreign affairs and their notions of what the President should do. That wouldn’t be so bad since we all get to have opinions in this country, but Fox ‘news’ raises heck if a singer, actor or any celebrity dares give an opinion. They go looking for stuff at functions where no one would know what the celebrity said if Fox didn’t make a big deal about it.
Here’s a good one from Gretchen Carlson, a former F&F curved couch potato who once said that their job was as important as the President’s because each day they have to DECIDE what subjects to discuss.
That was just a sample.
Topic #3
So, you find being drunk on the tax payer dime unacceptable. Why the big deal because I pointed out that the Speaker of the House, 3rd in line to the presidency, is an obvious alcoholic and people in Congress who have been around him have said so in so many words? I quoted one in another comment here. His impaired judgement, which is likely in the Netanyahu invitation, is problematic for the country and in this case, Israel too.
In additon, Boehner has presided over a government shutdown, both actual and threatened, and the lowering of the country’s credit rating among other things. There’s politics and then there is total incompetence and bad judgement and that’s Boehner.
Defend him if you like. But, it seems you have a problem with my opinions while saying I’m the one with the problem with people’s opinions. If they are false or incoherent, why yes, I do.
Didn’t I quote one of your statements that didn’t make sense? Did you think it did?
Your turn.

The Israeli Prime minister is a grown man and he should know what he is doing. Protocol is NOT law but guidelines by which to proceed by. Here’s where you go off the rails.
” I also believe in science but unlike you I view it from a different angle and marvel at the complex systems.” When, oh when, did I ever say I didn’t marvel at the complex systems?
Also, I don’t ‘believe’ in science. I ‘accept’ what scientists demonstrate through the processes they go through while realizing that there are still new discoveries possible with things we thought were settled. Science is ‘on-going’. Conservatives view science with skepticism that they don’t view religion with.
Conservative brains tend towards being certain even in the face of opposing information aka ‘facts’. That’s why it’s so difficult dealing with them in the political realm. The line “Always wrong but never in doubt” describes conservatives. Remember how certain they were that ebola was going to devastate the country and people from Africa with ebola were going to sneak across our souther border. Yeah, that’s a conservative brain in action.
Are you now going to deny that they did do that a while back and accuse me of being critical instead?
So, callitasitis. Do you ‘believe’ in intelligent design with all the complex systems? You ask a lot of questions. Answer that one.
The ‘tan suit’ nonsense was a BIG DEAL on Fox ‘news’ and many people who watch Fox eat that stuff up and it displaces other important news that Fox likes to dismiss or downplay such as the republican led House Intelligence Committee’s findings on their Benghazi report because they didn’t fit Fox’s and the GOP’s narrative. It got less coverage the day it was released than the tan suit nonsense. Fox does that stuff all the time. And, many of its viewers vote based on lies, misinformation and omissions.
Remember, Mitt Romney thought he won the election from watching Fox ‘news’ and it polls. He had a fireworks display at the ready over Boston Harbor for election night and a victory speech but no concession speech. That’s what Fox ‘news’ does to people who watch it. To use your word “marvelous”.
About a 1/3 of Fox viewers still question the President’s birthplace. Now, how did they get so misled on that….from watching MSNBC? It’s stuff like that that Fox needs to be held to account for. Unfortunately, Fox’s lies live forever in the minds of many of its viewers even when the facts are available.
So, you think Boehner should “find a new home”. Good.
You must suspect that Netanyahu’s visit will be counter-productive for him and Boehner, as it should be. Boehner has had so many misfires that a negative outcome from the visit will seem ‘normal’. And, Fox/GOP will blame the President for what came about from their own words and actions……as usual.
Pope Francis will be speaking to a joint session as well this year. I can’t wait till he tears the greedy 1% and their republican minions a new one or many new ones. And, he will. Following that, I can’t wait to hear how Fox will spin his words. And, they will.
Stay tuned.
William says
@callitasitis
It’s up to the drunk’s politcal party to have an invention with a member who is chemical dependent in a way that affects his job performance.
In the case of John Boehner, his party instead made him Speaker of the House, 3rd in line to the presidency. That says it all. They loved the dry drunk W too.

foodforthought says
The constant dissention between Democrats and Republicans is tearing our society apart! If we don’t find a way to stand together, then we fall. You start out with two people divided and it works up to a nation. Who is an alcoholic , who has a fake tan, who is sexually harassing another, and on and on. If we can only find fault, than how can we strengthen? This is the snow ball effect; first the thought, then the words, then the application, either negative or positive. Both the Democratic Party, and Republican Party have become so polluted that they have become negative forces in this society.
William says
@foodforthought
And, which party members call our President a Marxist, communist, non-cittizen, Kenyan, traiter, Muslim (although he’s not), that he hates America, divisive (after they’ve called him all those names, they call him divisive. That’s rich) and so on?
Speaking of divisive, which party has alienated minorities, American Muslims, union members, teachers, the LGBT community, women, college students and so on while calling the President divisive? Hypocrites is too good a word for them and they’ve got Fox ‘news’ helping shovel that stuff 24/7/365.
But, even though you call out both parties, you seem to go after Democrats more than the obviously virulent words and actions of the republicans. It’s telling that you can’t tell the difference.
Keep it up, foodforthought, you reveal more and more of yourself with each comment.
In essence, you gave yourself away as a full blown partisan hack while pretending otherwise.
foodforthought says
Actually Bill, you’re the full blown partisan hack. You don’t even know what partisan hack means.
Jason says
Food, its not even worth it. If you dare criticize the Democrats in any way, you will be attacked regardless. Its funny he calls those that attack both parties partisan hacks yet refuses to criticize the Democrats because he’s under no obligation too.
foodforthought says
Jason…You are so right!
William says
@Jason
Geez, Jason. I’m a Democrat and, so, I’m partisan. I’m not pretending to be non-partisan like foodforthoughtis by claiming to be an ‘independent’.
Again, you failed to notice that many come here claiming to be ‘independent’s while defending Fox ‘news’ and republicans and only criticizing Democrats. How odd that is.
Just because I don’t criticize Democrats, so what? That’s why discussions with you invariably lead down the rabbit hole.
It wasn’t me who asked if you were being deliberately obtuse regarding that unfinished hotel business. He nailed it. You bring obtuse to every discussion.
foodforthought says
Actually we couldn’t fit down the rabbit hole, because you were blocking it Bill.
William says
@foodforthough
Other than that being the lamest comment here today, it isn’t even accurate since Jason LEADS the way down the rabbit hole and if anyone blocks it, it’s Jason.
So, why don’t you and Jason discuss something and we’ll see how ‘intelligent’ it gets.
Just posting links to each other doesn’t count. You have to do your own thinking.
William says
In your own words, foodforthought
“foodforthought
February 4, 2015 at 3:04 pm
I’m in my 60’s, listen to rap and have tattoos. I am a loving, generous, productive member of this society”
Thank you ever so much for letting us know because that certainly hasn’t been apparent from your comments and replies.
It should have been self-evident and the fact that you think to tell us that; it doesn’t ring true.
Jason says
Youre partisan and a hypocrite William. Its funny how you call out people for doing the same thing you do while acting like you’re above reproach.
And you always seem to go back to the hotel issue. Why do you continually ignore what I said in that discussion? I repeated what was told to me by someone heavily involved in the project. But I guess they wouldn’t know what they are talking about either right and were being obtuse too right? Or like the time I was being obtuse for arguing that people being arrested for possession of date rape drugs weren’t being arrested for possession with intent but rather possession like they were before prop 47 passed. Funny how the law regarding possession didn’t change, only the penalty, isn’t it?
foodforthought says
William… Why yes Bill, I’m in my 60’s, have tattoos, and listen to rap music. I’m also a productive member of my community. Thank you for paying attention! Oh yes, I’m also a Veteran, and listen to the blues, jazz, Jeff Beck, Led Zeppelin. What’s your point Bill? You actually managed to quote my comment from another article which you didn’t add in order to complete the context. Thank you for thinking of me.
William says
@callitasitis
You forget the ‘loving and generous’ from your quote and I replied that it wasn’t self-evident from your comments.
Self praise is no recommendation. If you have to tell people you’re ‘loving and generous’, well, you must keep it hidden most of the time.
William says
@foodforthought
That reply was for you not callitasitis.
You guys are all starting to sound alike.
William says
@foodforthought
Here’s another one of your comments. You don’t seem to practice what you preach. Typical
foodforthought
February 1, 2015 at 3:07 pm
callitasitis/William….Why do you (callitasitis), continue with William, when you know his comments end up in pure antagonistic mudslinging and trash talk, rather than a discussion of merit and substance?”
And, when have you replied to me with ‘merit and substance’? Tatoos? Rap music? What else you got?
foodforthought says
Once again your comments taken out of context to suit your agenda Bill. I leave you to your self-righteous, hypocritical, obnoxious self. I feel sorry for you Bill, because you look for the worst in everyone you cross paths with.
William says
@Jason
Oh, boy. What is your problem with someone in one political party being partisan. A Supreme Court justice isn’t supposed to be partisan nor the mayoral offices in the 2 AV cities but most members of a politcal party are.
You pretend to be independent but you are all right wing talking points.
As for the hotel. That’s when someone said you were being deliberately obtuse because you kept going round and round in circles and unwilling to get that your argument wasn’t logical.
That was some of your ‘best’ work. And, BTW, why are you so touchy being reminded of it if your were so ‘right’. You should be proud every time I remind you of it.
Jason says
William the problem is you attack others for doing the same exact thing you do, then act like you’re doing nothing wrong. You’re a typical major party hypocrite who cries foul when someone does to you what you’ve done to them.
Calling out the hypocrisy of both parties and you while saying both parties is at fault is right wing talking points?
Lol you always go back to the hotel to try and insult me. It was explained perfectly clear and multiple times, yet I’m the one that was being obtuse because you wouldn’t accept what was being said.
Is my being “touchy” the same as you being reminded of the times you’ve been proven a hypocrite and a liar?
William says
@Jason
I wasn’t the only one who discussed the hotel with you. There were 3 or 4 others who couldn’t get through to you at the time. How quick you forget. Wasn’t it over the hotel that someone asked if you were being deliberately obtuse and not over the proposition?
You write>
“It was explained perfectly clear and multiple times, yet I’m the one that was being obtuse because you wouldn’t accept what was being said.”
By you? So, you really think that if you say something multiple times, it must be true? And, I wasn’t the one who said obtuse but you did occur that way to me as well. I just liked the way he said so I quote it.
Y’know, Jason. There’s a wheel on your mouse. You can scroll past my comments but noooooooooo. You have to say something and then whine if I reply back to you, poor thing.
Jason says
No William, it was over the proposition. They had it stuck in their had that somehow because someone wanted to return the penalty for possession of date rape drugs back to a felony and stated that the only intent was for people to use them to commit date rape, they were being arrested for intent rather than possession of a controlled substance. You know the same crime they were being charged with before the penalty was reduced? But hey somehow explaining that the law wasn’t changed and only the penalty was is being deliberately obtuse now.
So if you repeat yourself several times, does that make what you say true. I explained myself multiple times but somehow that wasn’t good enough for you. I know exactly what I was told concerning the hotel and simply replies to someone wanting to know what was going on with it.
You know, you can scroll right past my comments as well. The only one that whines here is you. Always whining about something or other that Rex or whatever Republican is doing. And as usual, you try to attack those that disagree with you. We get it you don’t like Rex or the Republicans. Most of us don’t either but we aren’t making it our life’s mission to piss and moan about it every day.
Nice Guy Gary says
C’mon guys, let’s not be so harsh. Let’s all just shake hands and smile. Whattayasay?
callitasitis says
I noticed the arrest log is no longer being up dated, is there some type of censorship being imposed here?
callitasitis says
@ William,
Topic #1
I am sorry I thought you had at least watched the video and knew the reason for the shout down. It was about police civilian review boards; Community activists voiced their opinions while denying the Union Rep his opportunity to speak to the councilman meeting.
Topic #2
Based on your observation all house and senate members should be tested for impairment before they go to the floor and pass bills. I am for that, if that is what you meant. Let us see who is drunk or High (smoking natural herbs) while on duty at the people’s expense. What say you??
Your turn to putt, Golf anyone?
William says
@calitasitis.
Did you hear Sarah Palin’s speech and the responses from republicans about it. She might be on her way out of the public eye. She keeps embarassing the GOP. This isn’t her first incoherent speech where it looked like she was drunk.
Topic #1 I don’t know what you’re talking about
Topic #2 Boy, did you take my comments on Boehner and run with them? I never said ‘all’ members, just my own and other’s observations of John Boehner, the worst Speaker of the House. Bleary eyed, spontaneous crying in public, and of course his ridiculous use of a tanning bed to give himself an unnatural tint. And, of course, his poor judgement in inviting Netenyahu to speak before Congress 2 weeks before his election and not informing the President. He is not fit to be 3rd in line. But, you and the right wingers turn a blind eye to such an obvious problem.
It appears that alcohol has impaired his ability to do his job and, yet, the GOP is fine with that despite his terrible performance. That is called ‘enabling’.
I’m sure he’s not the only active alcoholic in Congress but who is going to drug test them? They play by their own rules.
foodforthought says
callitasitis/William….Why do you (callitasitis), continue with William, when you know his comments end up in pure antagonistic mudslinging and trash talk, rather than a discussion of merit and substance?
William says
@foodforthought
So, you’re right about me and you’ve made me wrong about everything.
Does that sound familiar to you, foodforthought? More on that below.
BTW. Other than Rex Parris, when have I called someone arrogant and obnoxious here? As for Rex, do you dispute that?
I’ve written comments about all the improvements in the economy and other issues under President Obama’s watch and instead of getting replies of “merit and substance”, I seem to get the tired old “you libs, blah, blah, blah”.
You do realize that everything you’ve said about me describes you and your own comments. Isn’t that called projection? Plus, I don’t recall any of your replies and comments addressing the topic of my comments while accusing me, well, here in your own words “You could care less about the opinions of others, and consider others to be on an inferior intellectual level than yourself.” Isn’t that behind every one of your comments about me?
I guess, for you, pointing out the obvious in someone’s comment is ‘trash talking’ as I did in the above paragraph. This is an excerpt from one of callitasits’s replies “As for the Prez that Jimmy Fallon takes .You can watch it because the Prez is coolest leader in the world.”
I guess that makes sense to you. I doubt if it makes sense to callitasitis.
As for your bringing in the KKK out of the blue, those former Democrats are now republicans. You forgot that part. Was it deliberate to somehow hide that fact.
In fact, Boehner and the republicans in the House seem to be fine with Louisiana rep Steve Scalise who attended a white supremacist meeting with a group founded by David Duke. He even once said that he’s David Duke without the baggage. He’s not just some unknown congressman. No sirreee. He’s the House Majority Whip for the REPUBLICAN PARTY or didn’t you know?
God, I bet your head is spinning by now. Y’know practically every weapon right wingers try to use backfires on them whether it’s clapping when the President says he has no more campaigns to run at the SOTU address or Boehner inviting Benjamin Nentanyahu to speak before a joint session of Congress 2 weeks before the elections in Israel and with Boehner neglecting to inform the President. That ain’t going well. There a backlash to that in Israel and it might cost him the election.
Or, how ’bout that abortion bill that got pulled because REPUBLICAN women backed out of it. One stupid move after another and the GOP desperately wants to run the government. That’s like a drunk (Boehner) wanting to drive the car. You don’t let him. (President’s veto power under the Constitution of the United States) Y’know, the one that the GOP tried to read on the first day of the House session in 2011 but screwed up because a few pages were missing. They couldn’t even do that right. I mean, a high school student council meeting coulda done a better job of it.
Mitt announces that he’s thinking of running and a bunch of republicans said “Uh, no” on that so Mitt cancelled his ‘dream of becoming THE president’. Each of the remaining dozen or so hopefuls will lead a poll or caucus for a week or so and then, BAM, he’s out just like in 2012. The last one standing isn’t because he’s the best and brightest. It’s more like last call and he’s simply ‘there’. Their next nominee will, like Mitt, be someone that the party can’t stomach. So, they’ll just hold their noses and ‘hope’. Do you disagree with that prediction?
Let’s see if you can reply to any of the content in my comment instead of your usual ‘holier than thou’ critiques.
That was fun.
Your turn.
foodforthought says
So Bill, you seem to have appointed yourself the holier than thou commenter. You like falsely accusing others of drinking too much, or other people are too stupid because they don’t agree with your opinions. Because you like mudslinging so much, I wonder Bill, what’s in your closet? You only think you have a halo levitating over your head.
William says
There you go again, foodforthought, projecting what you do onto others; in this case me.
Aren’t you being ‘holier than thou’ in your comments about me?
Of course, you are.
If you’ve noticed, I might write a comment about some political matter and the usual ones here will REPLY disagreeing with me presumably because they don’t like my opinions.
However, that seems to go right past you.
Are you defending John Boehner’s drinking habits? His crying on the floor of the House, his bleary eyed appearance, his lousy job as Speaker and his ridiculous self imposed artificial skin tone.
Go right ahead.
Maybe you’re in denial ’bout your own 80 proof self medication. Now, don’t get all upset as you accused me thinking I have a halo levitating over my head. So fair is fair. Drink up and quit whining.
callitasitis says
Because he is a secular progressive kind of person and I am for sure not. William is to true to his ideals and so am I. it is a fun exchange , : )
William says
@callitasitis
“secular progressive”???
That’s Bill O’Reilly term. It’s accurate even though sexual harasser O’Reilly uses it as a perjorative to describe people whose opinions he disagrees with.
O’Reilly calls himself a ‘traditionalist’ as though that is a large demographic. There are lots of ‘traditions’ no intelligent person in 2014 would accept so O’Reilly is just talking jibberish.
Reminds me of how L. Ron Hubbard invented the term ‘subversive persons’ to describe his enemies, also with the initials ‘SP’. He was crazy as is O’Reilly.
Are you therefore a ‘Christian regressive’? Oh, that’s right, you’re an ‘independent’ who always seems to think in right wing talking points.
callitasitis says
@ William
Topic #1
As you said you see drunken people of course ONLY on the right wing and I see power drunk politicians both on the left & right. They ALL should be tested equal & impartially held to account for their impaired state( as you state) while serving on the floor, you would agree( correct??). Equal treatment under the law???
Topic #2
Three co-equal branches of government, does that sound anything close to what was taught in basic government classes in any school today. The Prez who taught constitution law knows better.
Topic #3
Labels, you have them (and you’re PhD) and I have them, my left wing secular progressive liberal kind of person. Your PhD has some choice labels (words) for conservatives’ right wing nuts or as you said” Christian regressive”. Any choice words for OUR Muslim friends oversea?? Go ahead be as strong as Bill Maher, who is very proud of being a liberal. I respect that and his wear his label with pride.
Topic # 4
Yes, I do still vote independent that does not mean I am not a conservative.
William says
Look callitasitis
Ted Kennedy was well known for being an alcoholic.
Why is it such a secret that John Boehner is an alcoholic and his performance as Speaker of the House, the worst Speaker in recent history, shows that he is impaired?
“Three co-equal branches of government, does that sound anything close to what was taught in basic government classes in any school today. The Prez who taught constitution law knows better.”
You write a couple of sentences (^above) that go nowhere and don’t make sense. You mean to say that the 3 co-equal branches of government aren’t taught today. What is being taught?
Here’s another sentence that doesn’t make sense.
“Labels, you have them (and you’re PhD) and I have them, my left wing secular progressive liberal kind of person.”
BTW I’m not PhD. That was someone’s username from a week or two ago never to be seen again.
sec·u·lar adjective \ˈse-kyə-lər\
: not spiritual : of or relating to the physical world and not the spiritual world
pro·gres·sive adjective \prə-ˈgre-siv\
: moving forward
: happening or developing gradually over a period of time
: using or interested in new or modern ideas especially in politics and education
1lib·er·al adjective \ˈli-b(ə-)rəl\
: believing that government should be active in supporting social and political change : relating to or supporting political liberalism
: not opposed to new ideas or ways of behaving that are not traditional or widely accepted
So, a ‘secular progressive liberal’ by definition sounds pretty good to me although I don’t call myself that. I usually just call myself a Democrat for simplicity’s sake.
I do have many liberal points of view on science, keeping religion out of government, regulating business so we don’t have these economic meltdowns which hurt the country. I trust our government, however cumbersome, more that I trust corporations to act on behalf of the average citizen. I’m liberal on most social issues and oppose any intrusion of religion in our government or educational system (creationism, for example).
I support putting integrity into our immigration system. When integrity is missing, things just don’t work. Both sides of that issue need to start being honest in their debates.
For every government scandal, there are probably 2 or 3 in the business world.
Why are your talking points almost entirely right wing Fox ‘new’s talking points? Independent????
Even as an independent, can’t you see the harm that the GOP has been doing to this country the last 6 years and before, a record number of filibusters just to cripple the executive branch, over 50 votes to repeal Obamacare that will go nowhere, endless attempts to suppress the votes of likely Democrats, and so on.
Congress’s poll numbers are in the gutter while the President’s are now over 50%. He must be doing something right despite all the virulent opposition that you are apparently in support of or blind to.
As for the GOP’s sudden interest in income inequality and the middle class. Give us a break. The President couldn’t have done much about that in the first few years while the economy was still in the tank from the Great Bush Recession. Now, that the economy has slowly recovered, those issues can be put on the front burner.
Don’t forget, we were losing ~750,000 jobs a month when President Obama took office. He didn’t cause that and the GOP was no help in the recovery but just complained how slow it was. Of course, it was a slow recovery because it was a huge recession and the GOP was fighting it all the way.
Every time there was good news such as the unemployment rate going down or the Dow going up, the GOP went “But, but, but… ” Sheesh. Good economic news was bad news for the GOP. Don’t you agree?
William says
Well, Mitt Romney was going to concentrate on the poor and income inequality.
Then, he’s out of the running.
That didn’t take long.
foodforthought says
William…You take a dualistic position, that you are always right and the other person is wrong. Dualism supports a preoccupation with your point of view. You could care less about the opinions of others, and consider others to be on an inferior intellectual level than yourself. When I read a comment from you calling someone else obnoxious and arrogant, well William, you obviously have a “blind spot” when it comes to your own self evaluation.
William says
@foodforthought
Take a tour of the comments on this and other articles and get back to me regardomg the quality of them.
When did I call someone ‘arrogant and/or obnoxious’? Forgive me if I can’t recall.

William and callitasitis… Both the Democrats and Republican are guilty! Read up on the history of the KKK, which the Democratic Party formed. The dark history of hate that pollutes a society through extremism.
callitasitis says
@ foodforthought
If you knew, I vote independent. I can careless about either party because like so many voters now, we are tired of the same old bull coming out of both parties mouths. It was William who comments about the House speaker’s pigment and my response is “what does it matter”. William on his response BELIEVES the Speaker is drunk and is putting on fake skin toner. The Speaker skin pigment has been an issue for the Democrats since day one, which is funny (maybe they are just a ;) little racist themselves). I say what does it matter about his skin tone??? Not sure what the KKK remark is about but I can tell you something about racist it comes in ALL COLORS and tones and if YOU have not seen it, you have not lived enough. Americans believe in equal treatment under the LAW but if you watch some people/hosts on TV and their comments you can see their agenda is not about truth.
As for the Prez that Jimmy Fallon takes .You can watch it because the Prez is coolest leader in the world.

great video reaily cool
William says
@callitasitis
The thing about Boehner’s complexion whether it’s a tanning booth or tanning lotion is that it is RIDICULOUS and probably the result of being impaired by his favorite beverage-merlot. It’s artificial and weird.
And, he’s the worst Speaker of the House in my lifetime and perhaps going back even further.
Plus, it’s winter in D.C. Where has he been to get that ‘tan’, Bora Bora?
It has nothing to do with race but that’s where you went with it. Just like Tammy Faye Baker’s odd self-imposed appearance had nothing to do with race. You guys have race on brain every chance you get.
So, how did you like Sarah’s speech?
The Democrats aren’t perfect but who is? They are what stands between us and the crazies on the right that the Koch brothers will spend close to a billions dollars to put one of them in office in 2016.
Hasn’t the disaster of the 2 Bush presidencies taught you anything, Poppy Bush ‘let’ Saddam invade Kuwait and Bush the Lessor invaded Iraq on false information.
Why would an independent want more of that incompetence?
For an independent, you sure speak ‘right wing’ fluently.
callitasitis says
@ William
Just say so, if you know he is drunk. If that is what you observed or some staff insider states he hits the bottle or flask. My position is who cares about his skin pigment so much. Do we really care” if” Nancy Pelosi was wearing makeup or not when she was speaker. “”Who care? “” It is what comes out of the house, that what matters. Please share if you have the inside scoop on the Speaker tanning booth provider, maybe someone will care, LOL.
Shout down strategy has been used by community activists groups for a long time and it is NOT new. The tea party (right wing) took that page out of the left wings’ play book. If however someone want to resolve the problems (issues) it may help if someone would allow the other person speaking the courtesy to finish BEFORE acting up. Just a little respect and courtesy would go a long way to resolved some the problems BUT if someone wants to continue the hostility THEN KEEP IT UP. I do not see yelling KKK, Keep Killing our Kids at the police union rep is going to get what someone want but it does make for great press (SPIN- if you agree with or oppose the shouters). Civilian review boards SHOULD be used in municipalities, counties, states and FEDERAL levels but the board members should also go through some type law enforcement training and understand that what cops decide in seconds, the board gets to review in a safe place for months. I think the fear of civilian review boards is IF they become political entities rather than impartial entities. We all want a fair and impartial trial without the politics.
If you like the LABELS then wear it with pride, left wing or right wing.
Your turn to putt, Golf anyone?
William says
Wow!!! Are you done?
That was some off-the-wall and off-the-reservation rant.
I think I’ll save it to use as an example.
William says
When I Googled “Is John Boehner an alcoholic?”, I got some funny but insightful answers.
“Boehner is a drunk. Alcoholics go to meetings.”
“How many of us can drink on the job, work 120 days a year, get nothing accomplished and get paid 200 grand a year?” Ain’t that the truth?
Then, there are more serious finds in Google.
September 10, 2009
“Republican House Minority Leader John Boehner gave an impassioned speech on Wednesday dismissing as false persistent rumors that he is a secret alcoholic. “I have an illness that precisely mimics the effects of alcoholism,” said the Republican “From the reddish skin, to the gaunt appearance, to the slurred speech, to the glazed and unfocused eyes – this rare illness makes innocent sufferers appear that they are alcoholics when in fact they are not.
Boehner declined to elaborate on any precise details with regards to this “rare illness” but explained that “the disease even produces bacteria in the mouth that produce a strong alcohol-like smell that scientists say resembles the odor of something known as ‘Jack Daniels’.”
Do you know of such a disease, callitasitis?
“Former Congressman Bob Ney, the Ohio Republican who went to prison for his role in the Jack Abamoff lobbying scandal, says Boehner is a “party animal who would rather drink than govern.”
If you buy all the hearsay that ‘water boarding led us to bin Laden’ which the CIA’s own documents deny then you’ll certainly buy all the hearsay about John Boehner’s poorly kept secret, callitasitis. I’m sure you buy the former.
You are aware that ‘denial’ is one of the characteristics of alchoholism aren’t you?
Of course, you must also think breaking down and crying during televised interviews and on the floor of the House are the actions of a sober person.

William says
Did you hear Sarah’s speech? That was the beginning of the topic?
William says
@Eric
So, where are all these 50+ ‘one hit wonders’ now, Eric? One or two comments/replies directed at me and they are never heard from again. If only you’d join them and disappear as well.
This valley is full of right wing nutjobs and tea partiers whose hair bursts into flames when they read something as simple as the ‘unemployment rate is 5.6%’ or ‘the Dow keeps hitting new highs’ and other positive indicators of an improving economy UNDER PRESIDENT OBAMA’S WATCH and, of course, their memorized Fox ‘news’ talking points as well as Breitbart, the Daily Caller and other credible* sources.
THEY HATE, ABSOLUTELY HATE, ANY GOOD NEWS ABOUT THE ECONOMY OR ANYTHING ELSE (such as getting bin Laden after Bush gave up on that project, then trying to credit Bush for it. Insanity at it best) THAT CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO HAVING OCCURED DURING PRESIDENT OBAMA’S 2 TERMS.
You must know that after 6 years, Eric, or you’re not paying any attention.
When I see a brand new username that replies to only me, I don’t give it much credence like you do.
You do know that you can invent dozens of usernames here, right, Eric?

Did y’all hear Sarah Palin’s speech at the Iowa Freedom Summit? She sounded drunk as she rambled on and on with her usual nonsense.
Even republicans were mocking her incoherent yammering and she’s thinking about running for president to soak up some more money from the rubes, just like Huckabee and the others are doing. Rubio, Jindal, Walker, Bolton, Fiorina, Christie and the rest have no chance to win either the nomination nor the White House.
Bush lowered the bar so low that every republican now thinks “Well, if ‘W’ can win TWICE, why not me?” as they climb aboard the stretch clown car
Mitt Romney also said he’s thinking about running and, again, republicans said “No way, fooled me once……..you can’t fool me again or something”.
Better buy your popcorn now because there will be a shortage once the campaign and the debates start and the republican/tea party hopefuls form a circular firing squad and the late night comedians will have their hands full keeping up with the hilarious goings on in the GOP.
The right has no comedians. They don’t need any because their ‘serious’ candidates and pundits provide all the humor needed.
It must be miserable to be a republican-all outrage, all fearfulness, all anger, no humor all the time.
The GOP won the majority in the Congress in November and did you see the wretched face of Speaker Boehner at the State of the Union speech? First of all, his complexion was darker than the Presidents????? And, he looked like he had eaten some bad clams for dinner and, of course, a box of merlot.
I love the zinger the President gave the right side of the aisle when they clapped for his remark that he has no more campaigns to run. They walked right into the buzzsaw with that.
callitasitis says
@ William
He was just reacting to the taste of Bull manure in the air. What, you have never seen the House speaker before? His pigment is dark and what does that have to do with anything? Do you have a problem with darker pigment? News flash people come in many levels of skin tones. Thank you , Mr. Prez for the lower gas prices, he is the Man. The Prez is the coolest Prez in the world, I thought you knew that fact. Rome is burning, Golf anyone?? Mission accomplished moment, LOL.
P.S. No federal civil right charges on the racist cop in Ferguson, Missouri, and no comment from your PhD?
William says
In calliitasitis’s world, a drunken Speaker of the House, 3rd in the line to the presidency, wearing an unnatural and artificial skin tone on purpose is NORMAL.
Boehner is the male Tammy Faye Backer of politics.
He and McConnell have looked miserable every day since the election in November, so that shoots down your excuse for him.
In other words, ya got nothing, callitasitis.
As for Ferguson, they can still convene another grand jury. That Wilson wasn’t found to have violated Brown’s civil rights (the only thing the feds looked at in this case) wasn’t the point of my comments.
Like all on the right, you conflate, collapse, defect, deny and all the other good GOP things they do.
So, what did you think of Sarah Palin’s incohent speech at the Iowa Freedom Summit (I love the names the GOP gives things) that even republicans mocked? She’s on your team and what a team it is. In fact, the last half of your first paragraph sounded just like one of Sarah’s ‘word salads’. Way to go, callitasitis. So, she probably sounded great to you.
You must be so proud of the GOP stretch clown car that will drive off the cliff in 2016. They don’t want Mitt or another Bush, so they’re stuck with the real crazies.
Good thing Reince Priebus cut down the number of debates to half a dozen to spare the GOP the embarassment of the 2012 traveling circus. The more the candidates talk the worse it is for them.
We are all dying to know what the RNC will do to top Clint Eastwood’s ‘winning’ performance at their last convention. I think I can guess how you’ll reply to that remark.

@ William
My question is after so much coverage on MSNBC (your station) about racist cops. The guest speakers with their hosts speaking negative about grand juries. Why convene one? Just go for the criminal trial. The Governor of Missouri should have gotten the ball rolling on the trial with his handpicked special prosecutor and go after the racist cop, Wilson. Missouri has all the information and perjury charges should be files but when? My point is we heard a lot to incite riots but little in action( both State/Feds) after it is all said & done. Why??? Was the Governor looking for political coverage or just appeasing the vocal race baiters like Rev. AL? He still has a show (platform) on MSNBC? Like I said to you earlier I do watch your network besides TNT, ID , TCM and other entertainment channels.

another reason people get shot by the cops, another drug user. enjoy the video it is off a body camera.
bird says
callitasitis—Enjoy the video! What a morbid thing to say. Many in our nation are drug users: Prescription drugs, alcohol, cocaine, meth, heroin, and so on. More people are killed while under the influence of pain meds, and alcohol than any other drug. I have met people from different socio-economic backgrounds that are addicted. I have been free of drugs for four years now, and I am now a productive member in this community. What I have been through has made me a more compassionate, loving person towards those that are struggling, thanks to God’s mercies and grace.

Whether you enjoy the video or not is your call. Do not watch it. It does shows how dangerous drug users can get over “simple possession”. I am happy for you on your 4 years drug free condition but it does NOT remove the consequence of poor choices in anyone life. Yours, his or anyone else.

callitasitis— Whether you live in a safe environment or not, should not depend on whether you have compassion. Your Hollywood Crime Drama statement has absolutely nothing to do with anything. How about running a reliable Republican?
I mostly agree with Lucille Calloway, but her recent letter stating she hoped Mayor R. Rex Parris ran for Steve Knight’s seat sent chills up my spine.
I’ve lived in western AV outside city limits for over 26 years. I don’t get to vote on city issues, but I pay attention to what’s going on.
Mayor Parris said he wants Knight’s seat to protect Lancaster’s interests. The position requires representing more than just Lancaster. What it told me, he wants to protect him and his cronies’ interests, solar farms, and power authority which I don’t see Lancaster really benefiting from. The construction jobs are short lived and few permanent jobs from thousands of acres being destroyed for part-time source of energy.
On Lancaster’s cable channel, Parris said nobody cared about global warming. Maybe people are faced with finding jobs and feeding their families. Does he care about blowing dust laced with valley fever we all breath in high winds? Christmas morning, I woke to a valley covered in dust. Water trucks were out settling the dust, wasting our precious ground water.
I’m for rooftop solar. Research on wind and solar farms, prove electric bills will increase, as they have in Europe. Does Parris care if we pay higher electric bills or the ground temperature increasing around solar farms, contributing to global warming? It takes the lifetime of wind and solar to offset the CO2 created in production of shipping and construction of these farms. In about 20 years our Valley will deal with waste from these projects.
A 2-ton turbine blade is made of fiberglass, and only good for 15 to 20 years. Europe is having problems now with overflowing land fills. The production of fiberglass is a polluter. We have thousands of acres of solar panels full of cadmium telluride, the sixth most toxic substance in the world. China’s the only country that allows it to be mined. What do we do with this toxic waste?
Look at Lancaster’s shopping centers, empty store fronts. Parris has no interest in attracting business or keeping them here. He only attracts Wal-Mart which Quartz Hill didn’t want. He didn’t listen to the people, why would he represent us on a state level? He tried to promote birth tourism at AV Hospital. Ninety percent of the Valley opposed and he called us bigots.
Parris’ mistreatment of Palmdale made him look bad on many levels. Politics and power is what he seems to care about. He bashed Donald Trump. I don’t think he’s any better.
I could go on and on as to why not to vote for him. I hope a good Republican steps up because I don’t want to vote for the Democrat just because he’s running.
THIS HAS BEEN CAP’N LANCASTER WITH YOUR LETTER OF THE WEEK UPDATE. AT EASE!
William says
Poor Rex. He doesn’t want to run for mayor again. Too many things to fix and he’s already shot his *** on solar and the blvd neither of which do you hear Lancaster residents cheering loud and long about.
The only hope he has of running for Knight’s old senate seat is if Lancaster residents want to get rid of him as mayor.
DON’T WORRY, LANCASTER RESIDENTS, EVEN IF HE DOESN’T RUN FOR THE SENATE HE WON’T WANT TO RUN FOR MAYOR EITHER NEXT TIME.
Jason Zink says
Solar panels can be recycled, I’ve tried to get Lancaster to contact Spire Corp. so the city could manufacturer their own panels and recycle old ones.
Perris is somewhat arrogant and pompous but at least he has vision, good bad u be the judge. Glad to see someone using the land for something that increases property tax revenue and those solar construction (always temporary) jobs are high paying and a lot of them haven’t had a job in a long time, its a blessing.
Birdman says
Somewhat arrogant and pompus? As in natural childbirth is somewhat painful?
Vision? As in telling the Wall Street Journal that his birdie sounds on the BLVD have lowered crime? Or sticking us with a spy plane that cost a million bucks a year and is yet do produce results?
What’s your assessment of Nero?
Jason Zink says
K&B 2.0 home is visionary. Net Zero City visionary. Lancaster Blvd visionary. All electric Bus visonary. Eye in the Sky not so much. It should of been a state or federal grant to watch parolies, and child molesters with ankle brackets possible. Should never be all city money on experiments that cost that much and not to be used to watch normal citizens.
Birdman says
Please. Houses in Australia have been using grey water for years. Solar on houses is nothing new. Germany kicks our butts in rooftop solar, which by the way is where we should be going instead of destroying the precious desert. Electric buses may or may not be a good idea. They cost a lot, they require recharge via conventional energy sources on a mass scale at this point which means electricity via oil, gas, coal, or hydroelectric. Spare me the visionary crap. He reads a book and thinks he’s an expert on a subject. Like global warming. He’s our version of Al Gore, making a lot of green off going green, yet enjoying the luxuries and benefits of fossil fuels with large homes, fast cars, and private planes.
Question Authority says
Would someone please explain exactly what Net Zero is? Is he claiming that the entire city of Lancaster and its 157,000 residents are not leaving a carbon foot print? Or is he just referring to the municipality of Lancaster? Is he merely claiming they produce more solar electricity than they use? Either way, big deal. No matter how much solar electricity is generated by solar on city facilities, he is still on the grid using fossil fuels once the sun goes down. That is unless he buys battery storage which is extremely expensive and would have to be enormous in size for a city that size. Maybe he and his rich cronies can afford it but the people he neglects in East Lancaster sure can’t. To me this Net Zero talk is nothing but BS.
callitasitis says
There are seven steps to successfully negotiating the resolution of a conflict: Understand the conflict; Communicate with the opposition; *brainstorm possible resolutions; choose the best resolutions for all parties; use a third party mediator (neutral party); explore alternatives; cope with stressful situations and pressure tactics. The only way a conflict can be resolved is “IF” all parties involved come to the table with *solutions and not just complaints. This is why we have problems all over the place from Washington DC to Sacramento. Rock throwers are NOT problem solvers they make WAR which is bad for ALL involved.
William says
Can you provide an example where these 7 steps were followed?
The Kinkisharyo plant in Palmdale was resolved but did they follow these 7 steps?
I was thinking that Mayor Garcetti was a ‘neutral 3rd party’ but he really wasn’t.
Some of the steps are redundant or overlap such as “brainstorm possible solutions” ~ “choose the best resolutions for all parties” ~ “explore alternates” are similar.
“Communicate with the opposition”???? Well, duh.
Where did you get these 7 steps?
callitasitis says
@ William

Maybe you can look it up, or “NOT” it a concept that was developed PHD’s. Some PHD break it down to 4 steps others 12 steps. You know I just too simple minded and not one of those highly educated elite, but you know that already. I see your PHD is back from vacation and back on point. She did have fun the David Duke w/out the baggage. The GOP just swallowed a poison pill, what is scary is Hannity is on same page with Dr.Rachel.
William says
@callitasitis
I’m only half joking when I suggest that the first step would be for A to state his issues/complaints/requests and then ask B to repeat them back to A to see if he is able to ‘hear’ them accurately and vice versa. (You’ll notice that Rachel does that when she has a guest if her introduction was accurate before they begin their talk.)
From my own observations, I’ve noticed how often when people have disputes, they tend to ‘reinterpret’ what the other party says and runs with their own interpretation rather than exactly what was said by the other party. You probably see it here all the time in comments and replies.
One step that was missing was an agreed upon set of data or facts or outside authorities and their assessments (not arbitrators or negotiators but outside experts on the material in question that both parties accept)
While those 7 steps sound good in an ideal world; in an ideal world, you wouldn’t need them. Now, consider the dispute over Palmdale Power Plant. Rex & Co. wouldn’t accept the analyses by the various environmental agencies that said that the plant is the cleanest one they ever certified and wouldn’t harm any persons in the Antelope Valley. How do you get Rex to even agree to that before negotiations even begin?
I’m also sure you see that in politics where the 2 parties work from different sets of data. That’s a non-starter, right? Odd that that isn’t in the 7 steps.
Those 7 steps wherever they came from just didn’t seem all that rigorous, more like someting Dear Abby would write on how to settle disputes regarding a bake sale.
I recall watching a Nightline episode back in the 80s with a panel of Israelis and Palestinians debating their issues. They had this young guy who was a professional negotiator and he was amazing. I don’t recall his name but he was unlike anything I’d ever seen and looked like if he worked longer than the length of the show he could get some results. Naturally, that didn’t happen and it’s been the same old same old nowhere discussion ever since then. There was an extraordinary quality to how he listened to each side without any bias or judgements. Rarely do we see that.
Finally, I think the hardest thing to do is to completely ‘get’ the other person’s point of view and reasons for it expecially when you don’t agree with it. I’ve always wondered how a little country like Vietnam could manage to ‘win’ a war with the world’s superpower and I think one reason is that we Americans are unwilling to see anyone else’s point of view. We just tell our version to ourselves over and over forever
I once had a conversation with a young guy from Vietnam and asked him what was the thinking of the North Vietnamese during the war. He said his uncle had been in the north and they considered themselve ‘freedom fighters’. Well. that’s not something Americans can even hear.
callitasitis says
Like, I said, the steps were developed by from PhD’s. If you were to review their steps whether from 4 to 12 depends on whose books you are reading. It is the PHD world which is not always in step with the real world.
William says
Are there examples of difficult issues that were resolved satisfactorily using those 7 steps involving 2 or more parties at odds with each other?
Funny. If those 7 steps really work, why aren’t they universally accepted and used around the nation.
The point is ‘what works’ not what was developed by PhDs to sound good and appear to be designed for relatively amiable parties involved.
Did Mayor Garcetti use those 7 steps to settle the Kinkiharyo plant conflict?
To use my example re: the Palmdale Power Plant, where in those 7 steps do you resolve Rex not accepting the several environmental reports stating how clean the plant will be while he’s sending out mailers saying “It will kill the children”.
Which step addresses and resolves that fundamental conflict at the very beginning.
phd says
William The point is what works, not what was developed by PHD’s. Thank you for discrediting Dr. Rachel Maddow! Now please move on from double speak.
William says
@phd
What on earth are you talking about?
Did Dr. Rachel Maddow write those 7 steps?
Is that annoying roommate living in your head bothering you again?
phd says
William You can’t even remember your comments from a few weeks ago. You’re just a confused person that can’t keep up with what you say, because you change your format (story), just to keep the chaos going with whomever you’re having a conversation with. You couldn’t say enough about how smart Dr. Maddow is pointing out that whatever she says must be true. Now you’re changing your story to fit your agenda, and your opinion about PHD’s. No wonder you can’t keep up with your thoughts, their a jumbled mess!
William says
@phd
Did Rachel write those 7 steps? Her PhD is in politics and I’ve never heard her claim to be skilled as a negotiator. You really, really had to stretch to conclude whatever it was that was on YOUR agenda.
See how you drove off into the weeds to make your silly point. Dr. Maddow is well-educated and skilled at having intelligent discussions and commentary on politics however. Much more than you are, fer sure.
callitasitis still hasn’t pointed to one conflict as an example of the 7 steps being successfully used.
Jimmy Carter told Jon Stewart the other night that when he held the peace talks with Begin and Sadat at Camp David in 1978, those 2 yelled at each other for 3 days until he separated them into different rooms and acted as a go between.
Which one of the steps was that?
You’re in over your head in this discussion, phd.

YOU CANT CONTROL WHO CLOSES.” MAYBE YOU CANT CONTROL WHO CLOSES BUT YOU CAN STOP SUING YOUR OWN BUSINESSES.
LANCASTER ELECTION FEATURES PARRIS RACIST HIT MAILER – CALLING LOCAL VETERAN AND DECORATED SOLDIER JOHNATHAN ERVIN THE “GANG CANDIDATE” OLE REX MAILED OUT A SICK AND DISGUSTING RACIST HIT MAILER THAT BROUGHT MORE NEGATIVE NATIONAL ATTENTION TO OUR GREAT CITY. TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE OLE REX AND HIS CRONIES GOT TWO LOCAL “PASTORS” TO CONDUCT A SURVEY WHICH WAS DESIGNED TO MAKE ERVIN LOOK BAD. THERES NOTHING LIKE DOING THE LORDS WORK AND GETTING INVOL VED IN LANCASTER POLITICS IS THERE. PRAISE THE LORD AND PASS THE HIT MAILERS.
STAND BY YOUR STAN – YA GOTTA GIVE OLE REX SOME CREDIT. NO MATTER HOW HOMOPHOBIC, RACIST, ANTI SEMETIC OR ANTI MUSLIM HIS LACKEY ARE OLE REX STAND BY HIS MEN AND WOMEN. NOW HE’S STANDING BY HIS STAN- STAN MUHAMMAD WHO BROUGHT MORE NEGATIVE NATIONAL ATTENTION TO OUR BELOVED LANCASTER WITH HIS HOMOPHOBIC AND ANTI SEMETIC TIRADE. POOR OLE STAN MADE MATTERS WORSE WITH HIS “APOLOGY” WHICH FANNED THE FLAMES OF HIS HATEFUL REMARKS EVEN MORE.
CUSTARD SHOP OPENS ON BLVD – WHO NEEDS DICKS SPORTING GOODS OR SOME FANCY DANCY CLOTHING STORE AT THE MALL. THE CAP’N LOVES CUSTARD AND A BRAND NEW CUSTARD SHOP OPENED ON THE BLVD. HOPE THEYS AROUND FOR A LONG LONG TIME.
THREE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE EYE IN THE SKY – AUGUST MADE IT THREE YEARS SINCE WE TAXPAYERS HAVE FUNDED THIS FLYING FIASCO TO THE TUNE OF A MILLION BUCKS A YEAR. AND FOR WHAT? TWO WALMART SHOP LIFTERS THAT THE SHERIFFS HAD IN HAND? THIS PIECE OF AERIAL EXCREMENT SHOWS UP AFTER THE CRIME IS SOLVED AND IS AS USELESS AS TEETS ON A BULL. BUT WHAT THE HELL. ITS OWNED BY A LONG TIME OLE REX SUPPORTER AND PAYBACK FOR SUPPORT SOMETIMES COST THE TAXPAYER A FEW DOLLORS. OR A FEW MILLION IN THIS CASE.
OLE REX SUES A CITY OVER VOTING DISTRICTS. AGAIN. – FIRST IT WAS PALMDALE. THAN SANTA CLARITA. THAN LANCASTER SCHOOL DISTRICT. YOUD THINK THAT RUNNING A CITY HISSELF WOULD KEEP HIM OUTTA OTHER PEOPLES BUSINESS BUT NO SIREE BOB. OLE REX AND HIS PALS FILED ANOTHER LAWSUIT AGAINST THE TINY CITY OF HIGHLAND. THEM POORS PEOPLE WILL BE SHELLING OUT LOTS OF CASH TO KEEP THEM LAWYERS AWAY. AND ALL THE WHILE OLE REX RULES OVER A CITY WITHOUT THE DISTRICTS HE IS SUING THE OTHER CITIES FOR. HIPPO-CRIT?
OLE REX AND HIS CLIMATE CHANGE GLOBAL WARMING ROAD SHOW – FLYING IN A FOSSIL FUEL POWERED PRIVATE JET OR A FOSSIL FUELED COMMECIAL AIRLINER OLE REX TRAVELED TO PLACES LIKE BEND, OREGON TO PREACH ON THE EVILS OF FOSSIL FUELS AND THE COMING END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT. OLE REX FIRED UP THE CROWDS WITH IMAGES OF METEORS HITTING THE EARTH AND PITURES OF LITTLE KIDS WHO’S FUTURE IS IN JEAPARDY BECAUSE OF EVIL FOSSIL FUELS. APPARENTLY THE GOOD PEOPLE OF BEND OREGON AINT BUYING OLE REX’S CRAP AS THE COMMENTS FROM THE RESIDENTS LEFT ON A LOCAL TV STATIONS WEB PAGE WERE LESS THAN FLATTERING. (HERE IS THE LINK http://www.ktvz.com/news/bend-could-join-carbon-neutral-effort/26579780) APPARENTLY THEY FIGURED OUT THAT OLE REX’S EDUCATION AS A SCIENTIST AND CLIMATE SCIENCE IS RATHER LIMITED AND THAT HE’S PRETTY MUCH A SKY IS FALLING CHARLATAN WHO LIKES TO MAKE GREEN BY GOING GREEN. (FOR THE RECORD THE CAP’N ENCOURAGES RECYCLING, CONSERVATION, ALTERNATIVE ENERGY AND GREEN PRACTICES. THE CAP’N JUST AINT MAKING MONEY OFF IT. )
BYD MESS- FIRST IT WAS A BRUHAHA OVER REPORTS OF PAYING EMPLOYEES $1.50 AN HOUR. THEN IT WAS PAYING EMPLOYEES IN CHINESE CURRENCY. THEN IT WAS CONFUSION OVER BONUSES. FINALLY BYD WAS FACING THE THREAT OF LOSING IT’S CONTRACT WITH LONG BEACH DUE TO NOT MEETING “DISADVANTAGE BUSINESS ENTERPRISE” REGULATIONS FOR AIDING BUSINESSES OWNED BY WOMEN, BLACKS, WOMEN, LATINOS AND SOME OTHER ETHNIC MINORITIES. THEN OLE MARV CRIST TOLD THE AVTA THAT THEY WAS BUYING ALL ELECTRIC BUSSES FROM BYD EVEN THOUGH HE DIDN’T FOLLOW THE RULES. WHAT WILL BE NEXT FOR THIS COMMUNIST CHINESE COMPANY THAT HAS IT’S SHOP JUST AROUND THE CORNER FROM AMERICAS MOST SENSITIVE MILITARY AND AEROSPACE COMPANIES?
OLE REX SUES LOCAL VFW CHAPTERS – ALTHOUGH THIS STORY WAS NOT PRINTED IN THE LOCAL PAPER IT WAS REPORTED ON THAT THERE FACEBOOK PAGE “GET PARRIS OUT OF LANCASTER.” SEEMS LIKE OLE REX HAS A STICK UP HIS KEESTER ABOUT VETERANS AND NOW HES SUING TWO LOCAL VFW GROUPS ON ACCOUNT OF SOME ONE WHO WAS PLAYING AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL AND GOT HIT WITH A BALL. SAY WUTT? HOW THE HELL DOES THE VFW GET SUED OVER A BASEBALL GAME?
THERE ARE JUST SOME OF THE LOW LIGHTS FROM THE PAST YEAR THAT CAP’N LANCASTER THOUGHTS WOULD BE A GOOD READ HEADIN INTO 2015. THE CAP’N WILL BE KEEPIN AND EYE ON THOSE SCOUNDRELS AND WILL REPORT BACK WHEN THE TRAIN GOES OFF THE RAILS. THIS HAS BEEN CAP’N LANCASTER WITH YOUR LANCASTER 2014 YEAR IN REVIEW. AT EASE!

Same here.
Because people have short memories, it’s useful for CAP’N LANCASTER to keep track and remind Lancaster residents of Rex’s stunts.
Gowchong says

Thank you Obama and the ATF for using “fear” and “safety” to create a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. Trying to ban a rifle round that doesn’t meet the specifics of armor piercing based on its use in new pistol variants because of its so called danger to police is just flat out wrong.
Obama and Holder couldn’t get the gun bans they wanted so they start going after ammunition. If they get their way on this what’s to stop them from going after other rifle rounds that are just as common, popular and dangerous to police?
