LANCASTER – The Antelope Valley Hospital (AVH) Auxiliary, which is made up of more than 500 adult and teen volunteers, recently donated $100,000.
The funds were used to purchase much-needed medical equipment, including ten AccuVein Illuminators and a pulmonary function test booth.
The vein illuminators, which allow medical personnel to easily identify veins, are especially beneficial for children and those who have poor vein quality. The pulmonary equipment helps assure tests to measure a patient’s breathing and lung function are carried out quickly and thoroughly.
AVH employees recently demonstrated to Auxiliary volunteers how the equipment works.
Both adult and teen volunteers were instrumental in raising monies to help with this donation, along with Jackie Davis, AVH gift shop manager; Dennis Mortimer, gift shop coordinator; Traci King, manager of the New to You thrift shop; Mary Binkowski, adult volunteer coordinator; and April Garcia, teen volunteer coordinator.
