LANCASTER – Traffic investigators are asking for the public’s help in a hit-and-run collision that killed a local teen Thursday night.

Ashton Hill, 18, of Lancaster was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The fatal hit-and-run occurred just before 10 p.m. on Challenger Way near Avenue J-3 in Lancaster, according to Detective Michael Politano of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

“Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed the pedestrian was struck by an unknown number of vehicles,” Politano stated. “None of the vehicles stopped to render aid to the pedestrian. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene by fire department personnel.”

Traffic investigators are asking anyone with information regarding the collision to call the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station Traffic Office at 661-948-8466.

Smh….. r.i.p ashton yu r truely missed and yu and yur family are in my prayers …. it sucks knlwin yu left this way and it makes my stomach turn to know that people are so heartless to hit a young teen and keep going and not care … for people to just keep on driving. It really sucks.. but god has a funny way of doing things and we cant question why he called yu home …. rest in paradise old frend and watch over your family

While they spending all their time arresting mfs for stuoid things its time some rules and regulations get changed about traffic because too many people are getting hit by cars and too many people are getting away with it i feel like they dont put as much effort into hit and runs like they are supposed to

    • it is really sad what happened to him, and I am not trying to come off as insensitive, but they do have rules in place for traffic… its called a cross walk!!!! im not excusing the bastard that hit this young man and left, but some accidents can be avoided if the pedestrians follow the traffic rules as well.

  6. I’m a neighbor of Ashton and this happend right up our street I’m very outraged about how careless the people that hit him are. The drivers kept driving there were no brake marks on the street.. come on people!!! Do you even have a conscience???

  11. I will pray for the family and friends during this time of grief. Anyone that feels the need to hate, please have respect for the family and take it to your council members or move out of the Antelope Valley (and, if you pay attention, the haters are the ones that do not know how to spell or use proper vocabulary). This is our community. I am so tired of reading of tragedy and then reading comments stating how ghetto and unsafe our city is. It is people like you all that make this city unsafe. Accidents happen, crime happens. The world is not perfect, but it does not make it okay. Our job as a community is to protect it. We have low housing because not every one was blessed with money. It doesn’t make the people living there any worse than the person living in a mansion in Beverly Hills. If all you haters feel the need to complain about where you live, please feel free to move. Until then, please respect the family of young man and just leave condolences or information to catch these people. Thank you. God Bless young man. May you walk along the shoulders of your loved ones and be their guardian angel.

  12. Its not the city speed signs people!!!!! Its the people driving over the speed limits and not paying attition to what their doing . No body knows how fast they were going. Pay attition to what’s in front of you and stay off the cell phones. RIP,GOD BLESS

  13. I think the only thing that matters here is that a young man lost his life and NO ONE stopped to offer assistance! An “unknown” number of vehicles struck him?!?! And still no one stopped!! That just makes me sick to my stomach. Someone will turn one of them in but it would be alot better if they did it themselves! I hope and pray they find ALL of them. And they are all charged with this young man’s tragic death. And if this isn’t a tragedy then I don’t know what is. My heart, prayers and thoughts are with the family. And to his mom I can’t even begin to imagine what you are going through at this moment but know you aren’t alone. RIP Ashton

My greatest memory of u is when u used to sit in the back seat of Doja dancing around to Lil Wayne. I love u so much. We will rind the person or people responsible for your death.   18. I will agree that there is a speed issue in the AV, but there are more people hit or killed by Jay Walking in this valley than I have seen in years past. People need to walk those few feet further to the lighted intersections and cross where they are supposed too. Crossing in a dimly lit area is almost asking for trouble!!

  19. I’ve lived in this area for over twenty years and the problem is that the speed limit on Challenger is too high. And there are not enough stop lights for the bordering neighborhoods. This poor young man paid too high of a price and I hate what happened to him. But a lot of people have lost their lives along this street because of the speed limit. Sadly, I don’t know how many more lives will be lost before the city does something.

    • I hope this means we are almost at the end of this test. It looks like soo many are going to fail. I hit a cats left back leg many years ago, and felt like I had hit a wall, stopped, saw it was okay, and yelled at owner. How can these people not know what they did, and try and sleep at night? We have raised children we are afraid they are going to turn us in. Now, we are castrating the police. when I grew up, if you ran from a cop, you were shot. Nobody ran, and no one got shot? We all seem to want to start a new panel to talk everything to death, thinking it will go away. Has it worked? The news reports, talks, interviews, and nobody ever does anything? People write books, get rich, but do they ever do anything? No wonder so many are fat.
      Why do we have laws if nobody has to follow them?

I was walking towards the restaurant I was going to when a guy grabbed me from behind and tried to pull me into an abandoned shed of some sort. He didn’t have any sort of weapon or anything, just trying to drag me somewhere. This was broad daylight and the street was packed with cars. I am 5’1 and 90 pounds. Not one single person stopped to help me. NOT ONE. Thank god I took a self-defense class the day before and was able to somehow get away and call police. W… T…. F… is wrong with people out there not bothering to stop and help.

    • I have lived in Lancaster for over 20 years and have never had a problem. Like any city, there are good areas and bad areas. I don’t know why no one stopped to render aide, and I wonder where the hell you were that someone would grab you and try to pull you into a shed. I hope that you are not just trying to tell a story for drama.

    • That’s what happens when u have cheap housing (compared to LA area) & the gang mentality moves in. Never used to have those problems until those thugs moved in.

A co-worker’s brother lost his life by a hit and run in Studio City…a mother loses her child in a cross walk…a child loses his/her mother sitting at a bus stop being hit by a car…maybe if this community got their heads out of their asses and started paying attention to what is going on around them and stop acting like “I didn’t see anything”, you can be part of the solution and less of the ignorant that thinks cheap housing and “gang mentality” is the cause of everything.

  25. Do they have any leads I mean did anyone see it happen someone should come forward its very sad. Whats worse even though it doesent matter is there was a lite he could have went to cross the street and he would have never got hit. I know its sad to say that but its the truth.

    • Ms Cece It is a terrible tragedy what happen to Ashton. How dare you even mention he should have went to the damn cross walk. This boy was struck and killed. We all know what he could have done. There are just some things you don’t say in this particular statement you made was completely not necessary and completely out of line.

  26. That area is CURSED! My husband lost 2 of his 3 children in that area! It’s really a very dangerous area! My prayers go out to the family and friends and I hope that the people that did it will have so much guilt on their hearts that they will turn them self in!

Yeah and someone takes a picture and just watched That poor Guy get hit by another car and no one went out there to help him…I don’t get it , I would of risked my life and ran in the middle of that street and helped him, I have done it for animals when they get hit and the stupid idiots take off, I stop my car and jump out and pick the animal up or stop traffick… so this pisses me off with some people that are heartless and take pictures or just stand by. Think about it what if it was your family member or friend would you like there picture in the media and there just standing there so F……Heart less!!!!!
