LANCASTER – The United States Air Force Thunderbirds Jet Demonstration Team will headline the Los Angeles County Air Show March 21 and 22 at William J. Fox Airport in Lancaster.
Organizers on Thursday announced the supporting lineup.
In addition to the Thunderbirds performance, air show fans can look forward to the U.S. Marine Corps Harrier Jump Jet.
Touted as one of the greatest breakthroughs in aircraft technology, the Harrier Jump Jet is capable of vertical takeoffs and landings, providing the Marine Corps with mobility, flexibility and firepower.
“We’re excited to host the USAF Thunderbirds, the U.S. Marine Corps Harrier Jump Jet, as well as some of the top aerobatic performers in the nation,” stated Dennis Dunbar, executive director of the Los Angeles County Air Show.
In addition to the Thunderbirds and the Harrier, the Air Show will showcase world-renowned aerobatic performers, warbirds and vintage aircraft.
Performers will include, but are not limited to:
- Gene Soucy’s biplane solo act in his ShowCat;
- Wingwalking, featuring Teresa Stokes as she climbs about the wings of the ShowCat, piloted by aviation legend Gene Soucy;
- Matt Younkin’s Beech 18 performance;
- Bill Stein performing precision aerobatics in a Zivko Edge 540;
- Otto the Helicopter, designed to excite the younger Air Show fan;
- And much more!
On the ground, spectators will be able to explore static aircraft displays, interact with pilots and crewmembers and experience attractions and educational exhibits designed to promote STEM.

The Miramar Airshow, San Diego in October is 100 times better. Free admission, free parking, many aircraft you can actually touch (Unlike this place) and a far Superior show.
Glenn says
Does anyone who who gets the money from this air show? Are there any records? Is it a charity?
Greg says
I would imagine that some of the aircraft presenters get partial reimbursement. STEM grants might get some of the proceeds, so that goes back to our schools in the STEM programs. The show itself is a non-profit, so any money they get is just to pay organizers, the press, etc.
You might what to contact them from the website contact page and find out first hand.

If you want to join the volunteers, come out to the next volunteer meeting, held at the AV TRANSPORTATION AGENCY offices. The next meeting is coming up on 10 March, and the meetings start at 7:00 (1900).

Come on any event you go to in california entering and leaving the event is a pain we just sit in our truck and watch you pissed off drivers drive in and out of traffic thinking your going to squeeze in to the front being the reason the flow of traffic is slowed down
lisa says
Did you know this event is free in yuma,az? We are a top gun training facility so maybe why?
Chris says
After the horror stories of last years gridlock, I hope that some thought has gone into traffic gridlock mitigation.

From discussions I’ve had with a Rep at the City I know, a SIGNIFICANT amount of planning has gone into this year’s event. Keep in mind, the City was not even asked to assist with the even last year until the few remaining weeks leading up to it.
They have already addressed the need for multiple Entrance/Exit paths to the event, instead of all vehicles coming and going from only one access point. :-)

Get a truck and off road it around the traffic .
