LANCASTER – Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle believed to be used in the hit-and-run collision that left a Lancaster teen dead.
Ashton Hill, 18, was struck and killed just before 10 p.m. on Thursday, Jan 29, on Challenger Way near Avenue J-3 in Lancaster.
Preliminary information gathered at the scene revealed Hill was struck by an unknown number of vehicles, and none of the vehicles stopped to render aid, sheriff’s officials stated previously.
Detectives on Monday released a description of the vehicle believed to have hit and killed Hill.
“The vehicle is believed to be a 2004-2007 Ford F250-F550, similar to the one pictured, unknown color, with damage to the driver’s side mirror,” Detective Politano at Lancaster Sheriff’s Station stated in a news release.
Anyone with information regarding the vehicle is urged to contact Detective Politano at 661-940-3810.

I had relatives in Palmdale/Lancaster area and don’t live in the area. I would like to express my condolences to his family.
I am someone that walks on a regular basis, and cars do not stop in my area, even though near my place, there is a marked crosswalk with flashing yellow lights. There have been numerous times where drivers have nearly run over me and my dog.
Lol smily face says
If this was u child or family member u would want justice u have all these house and on long street with only two cross walk and all these house in the middle and even if there was a cross walk people still don’t try to stop please stop with the nagitive talk he was a good person love one friend son boyfriend best friend if u noe Aston he bring joy to many life he will get justice with the help of love ones friends family and more but if u have nothing positive to say I would respect if u say none at all and for those that are comment and say they saw something no need for ur comments if u not trying to help his love ones out with getting justice that needed for everyone that loved Aston
Reghina (Ashton's aunt) says
please help us find the person that killed my nephew. Our family is heartbroken and we are struggling to deal with the loss of someone that we loved so much. The negative comments don’t help at all. They just make his mother feel like he did something wrong and died because of it. This was not his fault no matter what happened. This is the fault of the people who hit and killed him and didn’t stop to offer aid. If you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all. Our family is hurting enough without your negativity. and to that Bob guy, if you were really there on the scene with my nephew died and you didn’t stop to offer him help, you are a worthless human being.. There is no reason for you to be on this earth

Kids are kids and I bet each and every one of you have not used a cross walk, crossed the street at night what a bunch a scum bags. Hopefully the catch each and everyone that hit this poor kid. I also hope something bad happens to each of them.
K_raww says
actually if a person walks across the street he does have the right of way in the cross walk or not it all depends the on the distance between him & the car. If he decided to cross the street within 250 ft of the car he did not have the right of way but if he decided to cross after 250 ft he does have the right of way. And it doesn’t matter if the driver was scared of what was going to happen to him if he got caught by the cops the driver made it worse by fleeing the scene & automatically made it into a felony. Felony hit & run assault with a deadly weapon & homicide. And as for Ashton I knew him I went to school with he was a good kid & lived a fulfilling life his legacy will live on rip Ashton
Hill says
The people who have negative things to say need to shut up…that kid was a good kid he didn’t deserve to die..if it was your kid you would understand what his family is going through..he was left in the middle of the street to die they didn’t even stop to check if he was ok…kids do dumb things but there is no excuse for not one but several cars to hit him and leave him there.so once again if you have nothing nice to say shut up..

Regardless of what is said yes a life was lost but take some responsibility. The driver could have been fearful of what he or she was facing as well. The young man who lost his life I’m sorry but perhaps there are lessons here. Watch when you drive and use the stupid crosswalks after all they are there for all our safety!!!
jazmine says
People in the AV refuse to use Cross Walks and refuse to drive the speed limit. Pedestrians always think drivers are going to stop for them. If your not in a cross walk you dont have the right away! Common sense people it . Would save so many young lives!

I wanted to write to tell you that I absolutely agree with you. On Palmdale Blvd it is a very serious problem with Jay Walkers. One day someone is going to be killed. At night people walk in dark clothing across Palmdale Blvd with no regard to on coming cars. Police need to start handing iut tickets for this :_
Sickintired says
Some drivers could care a less if you use a cross walk. I was without a car for about year. I had to keep going with life so I walked. I always used a cross walk, and would wait for it to turn for me to cross, and still almost got hit more times then can count.
I agree jay walking is a poor choice.
Greg says
Are you referring only to painted on the ground crosswalks? Remember any intersection unless specifically marked NO PED CROSSING has crosswalks. This includes intersections that a T shape.
Eric says
Say it ain’t so, Greg!
Hard to fathom that so many people are unaware of how simple a rule it is. Corner to corner = Crosswalk. I learned that freshman year of high school.
Really? says
Actually pedestrians ALWAYS have the right of way. Period. In fact that was one of the questions on my drivers test.
Dunnies says
This is someones child, brother, nephew, grandson and friend. Have some damn respect for the family. Ashton I pray that you will get the justice you and your family deserve.
angie says
Palmdaleguy you are an idiot

Does it really matter if he was cold o hot ?
He is now dead
Have some respect
Thomas says
I’m surprised more of these kids aren’t hit the way they constantly walk down the middle of the street all la-de-dah like they own it.
Desiree says
I hurt for his family. Obviously no one deserves to die. I hope in his honor, the police department will begin to give out tickets to Jay Walkers. It is dangerous and not fair to drivers.
ANNON says
Some people just don’t have any respect, as you can see
jay says
This is very sad, I really wish people would be more careful crossing the street it is very hard to see in dark areas no matter what speed you are hoing, I am snow extremely careful driver and I have had a few close calls because people in the road and it’s dark
Desiree says
I agree. He was just a kid. I am sure he has family that loves and cares for him. Why put cruel things on here to hurt them. We don’t know this kid or the life he led…good or bad, he didn’t deserve this. I do hope that the Palmdale and Lancaster police start ticketing Jay Walkers. It is out of control. :_
what a jerk says
Who cares Palmdale DOUCHEBAG.. NO respect
