PALMDALE – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Palmdale this Friday, March 13, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Deputies will be looking for signs of alcohol and drug impairment. They also will check for proper licensing and will strive to delay motorists only momentarily. When possible, specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving.
Drivers caught driving impaired can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes, and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
Recent statistics reveal that 30 percent of drivers in fatal crashes had one or more drugs in their systems. A study of active drivers showed more tested positive for drugs that may impair driving (14 percent) than did for alcohol (7.3 percent). Of the drugs, marijuana was most prevalent, at 7.4 percent, slightly more than alcohol.
DUI checkpoints are placed in locations based on collision statistics and frequency of DUI arrests, affording the greatest opportunity for achieving drunk and drugged driving deterrence. Locations are chosen with safety considerations for officers and the public.
Driving under the influence/ driver’s license (DUI/CDL) checkpoints are conducted by deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on a regular basis.
Funding for these operations is provided to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

DUI…the scam that launched a thousand companies.
Dauntless says
Are there many “drinking” establishments near 25th West and Rancho Vista Blvd? I would tend to believe that in that area crashes would be caused by speed, more than drunks?
Greg says
Valid point about the speed.
In the area of the mall are several restaurants and I believe one bar. Also traffic from Palmdale Blvd/Elizabeth Lake Rd often go that route to get to west Lancaster/Quartz Hill. So it does have a fair amount of places serving drinks and good traffic flow.
Greg says
Lots of restaurants near the mall sell drinks and a few have bars attached. Plus a lot of traffic from Palmdale Blvd/Elizabeth Lake Rd heading towards west Lancaster/Quartz Hill would funnel through there.

Motherf!!!!kers are inventing DUI statistics now just to suck your bank account dry. Big difference between being too wasted to drive and having 3 Buds and driving yet both are a DUI. Biggest scam on the planet. And how about all them off duty pigs sucking down the drinks at the bar? Criminal charges are for the proles. FTAV

It appears to me that you may need a little more insight as to what the matter here on this particular subject. The point of these “DUI checkpoints” were not designed for “license checks”. They are called “DUI checkpoints” for a reason that being to check for impaired drivers. They are not professional here and it is immensely easy to beat one of these checkpoint cases in the antelope valley. There are several guidelines that law enforcement must follow in order to conduct a sobriety check point which are blatantly ignored by these goons who conduct them. In court ruling ingersoll-v-palmer these guidelines were set; one of them states; “DUI roadblocks should be publically advertised in advance” and another stated in more general terms that it should be clear your approaching a roadblock; and the ones here do not effectively give you a significant amount of notice that you are approaching one and do not give you a chance to turn around. Any arrest deemed unconstitutional according to a Supreme Court ruling will usually be end up in a district attorney rejection; in other words you will not be prosecuted for said crime. If anybody has any questions or comments I would enjoy to see them or have an educated discussion with you on this matter..

I say there will be around 10 arrests and none will be for drunk driving theu really should give up
