Juveniles arrested in connection with Palmdale murder

Four suspects were detained at gunpoint Wednesday, April 8, at an Arco Gas Station at the corner of Avenue S and 25th Street East in Palmdale, and deputies searched the suspects’ vehicle. Two of the suspects, a 17-year-old male and female, were arrested on suspicion of accessory to murder in the shooting death of Louis Amela, detectives said late Wednesday. The shooter is still outstanding.

PALMDALE — Two juveniles were arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with the March 31 murder of Louis Amela, a 41-year-old man shot to death over a bicycle outside a Palmdale restaurant.

A 17-year-old Hispanic male and a 17-year-old Hispanic female were arrested around 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, on suspicion of accessory to murder, according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

“Both subjects are believed to have either been involved with the murder and/or assisted the individual who shot the victim after the murder,” Schrader stated. “The shooter is still outstanding at this time.”

Both juveniles were scheduled to appear in Sylmar Juvenile Court Thursday, Schrader added.

The fatal shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. March 31 outside Sky Burgers in the 1800 block of East Palmdale Boulevard.

Louis Amela was shot multiple times around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, outside Sky Burgers in the 1800 block of East Palmdale Boulevard.

The shooting happened after Amela got into a fight with four Hispanic men who were trying to steal his bicycle, homicide detectives said.

Witnesses at the scene said the assailants appeared to be gang members, according to detectives.

Amela was assaulted and shot four times and died at a hospital, detectives said.

The investigation is still ongoing.

    • One thing is for sure no one has the right to kill anyone period!!! It was a genuine act of cowardice to shoot an unarmed man in the back. Regardless of who the man was or where he came from. Hopefully the two punks do get sentenced as adults since they act like they want to act like adults. I pray the shooter at large will soon be locked up too. Just barely got hair on their balls and are connected to a murdered man…sad.

  9. I believe we have some mf’rs buying lots of drugs, and then manipulating the young men, young women, elders, and people with apartments or houses to do their dirty work in.

    Its sad because these victims don’t see it coming, because there so slick at befriending them, until they are addicted or abused so bad that they can hardly understand anything, much less what has happened to them and why.

    Im thinking they do it to use the person’s home for selling drugs, luring young females to get high and then take advantage of, bully them, abuse them when their under the influence. Give them drugs, even force them to do it, when they don’t want to. Some I believe are doing it to get their kids into foster care to do something with identity thief, or fraud.

    I would doubt if they are going after the good looking kids that they know can be adopted out easily, so they can make money off them. I wouldn’t doubt if we have criminal’s with homes for these kids, because they want to use them to make money, maybe not when there young but maybe when there older. Its seems crazy, but I just talked to a lady recently and she told me that they gave her back one of her kids which was black, and not the other one that was light skinned and with cute curly hair. WHY?? most likely someone is making money off selling the “cuter kids”.

  21. I’m so happy they arrested these two kids. I want them to find the shooter. I pray every night they are all caught and punished. I knew Louis when he was in middle and high school. I have five sons who all knew him. How tragic to die that way. I’m putting some blame on the parents of the two juveniles. How were they raised, taught to have no regard for human life. Shame on them!

I wish there were some Bronson’s out there that could help the Sheriff’s thin out the gang bangers and graffiti creeps. We need more prisons but hope they don’t bring another to the AV.

We talked about alot of accomplishments he wanted to acheive. i surely will miss my x- roomate. had a heart of gold and willing to help anyone no matter your skin color. my son broke down when i told of Lous death..Things i will remember about Louis Amela: his kindness , the talks we would have about his mom ( deceased ) and how it was so hard to deal with. The love he had for cuzin Barbie , and his Auntie. And love for his children. I had pleasure of meeting several of his family who i know loved and will truely miss Mr. Louis Amela. Rest in paradise my friend ! Im screaming to u in the clouds.. THEY GOT THEM !! !

To be honest I hope they don’t get the death penalty because two wrongs don’t make a right. I think they should suffer everyday in a 6 × 9 cell better then getting the easy way out. Louie was a sweet caring man who put everyone’s life before his. He was a loving father who now his kids must suffer with out having him there to watch them grow. You will be missed dearly and not left unknown for one second.     • I’m truly sorry for you loss, I haven’t live in the AV since ’97 I haven’t live in CA since ’99. Palmdale CA is where i was raised, and I still consider it home. It was pretty bad when I lived there, but you forget just how bad until you read a story like this. I have my memories, but I’ve grown a lot since Palmdale, and my memories almost don’t seem real anymore. I truly am sorry for your loss, and his family’s loss. my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

    • You are correct, Karma. Two wrongs don’t make a right. However, what we are dealing with here are lowlife idiots who believe that taking someone’s life over a bicycle makes sense. To rid the planet of such people is not a “wrong”. I hope they are executed. There is no fixing a mentality that has so little regard human life that they consider a bicycle as having more value, and no sense in wasting our tax dollars in supporting such people for the rest of their lives in prison.
