LITTLEROCK – A 44-year-old Lancaster man was killed Sunday after he lost control of his pickup truck and crossed into the oncoming traffic lane on a Littlerock road, authorities said.
Mario Carreno Roman was pronounced dead at the scene of the two-vehicle collision, which occurred around 1:55 p.m. Sunday, April 12, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
“Roman was driving a 1991 Toyota pickup southbound on 87th Street East, north of Avenue S-8,” the CHP report states. “Roman lost control of his vehicle in the curve of the roadway [and] crossed into the northbound lane directly into the path of a northbound 2012 Nissan Altima.”
The Nissan Altima crashed into the right side of Roman’s pickup truck, killing him, according to the CHP report.
A back-seat passenger in the Altima, 25-year-old Maribella Acosta of Littlerock, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained major injuries, the CHP report states.
The driver of the Altima, 24-year-old Jose Dejesus Villarubio of Littlerock, and a 5-month-old boy in the middle-rear seat suffered minor injuries, according to the CHP report.
The infant was properly restrained in a car seat, said CHP Sgt. Tim Jacobson.
All three occupants in the Nissan Altima were transported by helicopter to Northridge Hospital Medical Center for treatment.

My family and I have lived on 87th Street East just south of East Avenue S-8 for the last 25 years. We have seen on average at least one major accident per year, a fatal collison every 2-3 year. Always in the area of the curve that turns 87th into 90th Street East. How I wish they would put a “Slow Down Deadly Curve” sign up. Or a “Slow Down, Current Death Toll___”, or a “Stay Alive” sign like the ones up on Pearblossom Hwy.
mgb says
come on money cuz they don’t need signs the people in Antelope Valley Inn Express you lick your way drive like a bunch of idiots Avenue T between peer blossom highway and 90th Street I see people driving down in the dirt going 80 miles an hour to pass cars on the wrong site the people here are idiots I need to drive it everyday you know where the curve is
Moni says
Yes I know know where the curve on 87/90th is, i live next to it. Yes some people drive like idiots and may in fact be idiots. That does not change this fact: That curve between East Ave S and Ave T has been the site of MORE than it’s fair share of major accidents.

My condolences to the family in the Nissan maxima for this traumatizing event the lord will be by your side as you all heal.
I was in a similar accident were i was also ejected from the car as a passenger in the back, my daughter was in her car seat & my husband driving. Thankfully no fatalities. Its a very traumatic situation & will take some time for healing. My prayers for everyone involved.
