Congratulations to the American Indian Little League’s Orioles, who became the District 51 Tournament of Champions in the Farm Division on Friday, June 12, after a 12-0 win against West Lancaster.
The boys (ages 7-9) trained hard this season and played as a unit, which ultimately secured their victory, according to team volunteer Richelle Cordes.
“The boys finished their spring season and played undefeated, so they advanced as the first place team from American Indian Little League,” Cordes stated. “Then they went to Tournament of Champions [T.O.C.], which consists of Little League teams from all over the Antelope Valley.”
She said the Farm Orioles played the No. 2 West Lancaster Little League team and clinched a 7-6 victory. The Orioles then played the Palmdale Little League team and claimed another “hard-fought victory,” Cordes said.
“They advanced to the last rounds against West Lancaster Little League and won with a score of 12-0,” Cordes said. “They had a completely undefeated season!”
“Our coach, Justin Pieters, is amazing. He works with all the kids, not only individually but as a team,” Cordes added.
The Farm Orioles team consist of Gerardo, third base; Jordan E., left center field; Bradley, catcher; Ethin M., right center field; Joseph, left center field/third base; Jimmy, shortstop; Jaden, second base; Nate, centerfield; Ethan E., right field; Jordan H., right field; Danny, pitcher/ first base; Johnny, first base; and Seth, catcher.
