Congratulations are in order for another American Indian Little League (AILL) team – the Red Sox! The Red Sox (ages 13-15) recently won the Junior League District 51 Tournament of Champions.
“They entered the Tournament of Champions as the #2 seed from AILL, and beat the West Lancaster Little League #1 seed 7-0 to open the bracket. [The Rex Sox] then faced the #1 seed team from Rosamond Little League and beat them 8 to 2. In the championship game, they beat the #2 West Lancaster Little League team 11-1 to claim the crown,” stated Justin Pieters, a member of AILL’s board of directors.
“We as a Little League board would like to thank Coach Eric Murdoch who spends countless hours with the kids, in some cases his own money, to make sure the team has the necessary equipment to play at a high level. Coach Murdoch has been with the league for over 10 years, and has epitomized what it means to be a Little League coach. He has instilled true values and honor into each kid he has coached, and you can tell when you meet those young men. Coach Eric and his wife, Shelia, mean so much to AILL, and the league wouldn’t be the same without them,” Pieters stated.
“On behalf of the Board, the parents and volunteers, we would like to congratulate the 2015 T.O.C Junior Champion Red Sox and Coach Eric,” Pieters added.
