So McDonnell Really fixed the language of the hiring process. REALLY! It will be worse than this….. http://articles.latimes.com/2013/dec/17/local/la-me-ln-la-sheriff-hiring-deputies-20131217

Really chaps my hide! I was an applicant 10 years ago. Passed everything but, psych denied! Appealed. Denied. Reapply. PSSSH! Crappy a5s selection process! I am and always have been productive American citizen. And today have my own business. But I really believe they made a mistake by hiring the next guy who actually got to appear on the LASD TV show. And today he is no longer a deputy due to his prostitute addiction. Misrepresenting himself during the app process, got him the job.
Now this new, citizen definition crap. Worsened the selection process. And if integrity actually had a role in our local Law Enforcment, then maybe….just maybe. PSSSSH!
Tim Scott says
Take it as a compliment. “Psych denied” may just mean that they detected that you have a conscience.

Yup, Nail on the head Tim!

Perfect time for the thug that hasn’t landed a record yet, to become a GOON, so they can keep the prisons stocked up for the homies!!!??.

Wow. Those are the qualifications? A diploma OR GED, U.S. citizen OR working on it, and no SERIOUS felony convictions? So…criminals policing criminals? Brilliant!!! Why can we not have standards? A lot of agencies require at least an AA. Why are expectations so low? Drug use doesn’t exclude a person anymore because most people have used something. What has happened to our society that anything goes these days?

Tim, might I ask what it is that you do for a living? What is funny to me is that you speal in absolutes. People who speak in absolutes are typically the least intelligent people. You know, the all black people are, all hispanics are crowd. Your stereotyping cops based on your bigoted views of them. You are non sensical in your rants, anything cop must be bad. In reality your no different than the ole invreed hillbilly screamin about the blacks. You are the new racist, you know you cant rail on a race of people so you choose a different grouping to shake your fist at. The reality is your a window warrior. Why dont you come out into the real world and enjoy it. If your unhappy do something productive. I hate cops is a mantra that will get you nowhere. Why not state the reforms you want to see?

I’m retired…served in the military, had a variety of jobs in sales, parleyed that into my own businesses…crashed three out of five and sold two (hey, in major league baseball hitting .400 would get me millions). Retired.
In my various careers I encountered customers of every race and religion I can name off the top of my head, and got along fine with them all. Still have old customers call me just to be friendly. Make friends every time I go to the grocery store or walk down the street because it is a salesman habit I see no reason to break.
Bottom line…if I have selected out a group of people and am willing to openly despise them…maybe people should take a closer look at them and worry less about me. Are ALL cops bad, in terms of willing to perjure themselves to protect their job if they make a mistake? Maybe not. Does the blue code of not looking too close at their “brothers” exist, and is it so strong that it influences even the very best of them? I think so.
So, yeah, I say nothin’ nice about ANY of them, and I am an “absolutist” in that regard. Sue me. Oh, wait…you can’t, because unlike race, or religion, or gender, or sexual orientation…choice of employment does NOT create a protected class. I can, in fact, totally legally say that my business would NEVER knowingly take a cop for a client. I would NEVER invite a cop into my home or place of business. Etc, etc, etc.
As to stating the reforms I want to see…to what end? This place literally CRAWLS with “cops can do no wrongism.” They got caught OUTRIGHT by the feds and are being forced into what really is the lowest most rudimentary level of civilized behavior, and a quarter of the public STILL says “oh they do nothing wrong”…and that quarter is the real power in the local administrations so any changes forced by the feds are probably slight and most likely temporary.
I’m actually not stupid…publicly calling for reforms is not an anonymous task and I have family to consider. So I’ll stick to petty spitefulness, thanks.

There are always openings for people who are willing to use violence and threat of violence to influence the behavior of others. Thuggery is an excellent career if you have no conscience.

What a horrible thing to say. Wow moderator good job.
Tim Scott says
What makes it horrible? Is that not a totally accurate description of the job? Why would a moderator remove a post that is not a personal attack, uses no foul language, doesn’t violate any rules? Just because some people disagree with it?
Ray says
Tim how can you make such a ridiculous, and quite honestly, moronic statement? When you get everything you know regarding law enforcement from the media you cannot speak with any authority on the matter. If I had to guess I would say you are a person who has had some history with encounters with the police and have come out on the short end of the stick. It is bitter, angry people who make stupid comments.

Handful of traffic tickets over four decades. One of which when I went to court the cop perjured himself rather than admit to not following basic procedure. Do I think that cop would hesitate to lie to keep his job if he had a bad shoot? Absolutely not.
Had a neighbor who was a cop. He had wife problems erupt from his on the job activities…which he also got fired…oops, asked to resign…over. Wouldn’t want to FIRE him and hurt his promising law enforcement career just for extorting freebies from hookers. Of course he caught on immediately with another department. She stored some stuff in my garage, and he found out it was there and decided he wanted it. He gave me the I have a gun and a badge intimidation BS from his new place an hour away. I told him “his” stuff would be on the curb in five minutes and if it was gone when he got there, tough luck. Went a few rounds with him when he appeared demanding to search my garage. Told him to shoot me or beat feet. Typical cop, thinks law is meaningless and a badge means he just gets his way. Do I consider myself lucky he was new to his new department and fifty miles outside his jurisdiction? Of course.
Dropped one of my workers at a job intending for him to walk to another job two blocks away when he finished. Cops stopped him for apparently “suspicious walking” and turned it into a roadside circus for about an hour. Lost BOTH accounts, because the homeowners couldn’t understand that the guy in the center ring did nothing, got charged with nothing, and was certainly not any danger to anyone. Wanted an apology from the LACSD, preferably in writing to show the clients. Was told that it seemed like I didn’t like cops and I should get out before they found something to charge me with. Did I believe they would follow through on their threat? Of course.
Had my seventy year old mother bum rushed by cops with a warrant for someone unrelated and frankly unknown who had put down her address apparently at random on some form years before, which later “justified” issuing a warrant to look for him in her house. That time they did apologize…to her, but it was still me who fixed the damage to her back fences…and my son who ended up spending the night in jail because when they jumped into the back yard and surprised him he didn’t immediately kiss their butts. They told him he should be grateful they didn’t shoot him. I certainly was grateful they didn’t shoot him.
Had a client that I didn’t know was a cop until he was late on payments like four times and I said something about cancelling him, at which point he told me that I wouldn’t want to start getting a lot of tickets from his buddies so I should be nice. Told him that I would have recording devices in every one of my trucks so he better tell his buddies to follow every letter of the law every single time. Never seemed to have a problem, but spent money on being prepared.
It is cops and their arrogant mistreatment of the public that make bitter angry people.

I agree with many points you make in this post.

Thanks. The real heartbreaker of it is that my handful of bad experiences isn’t out of the ordinary, and that’s from a white business owner who is pretty well informed of his rights and in a position to defend them if I got screwed with too badly perspective. If that’s MY experience, what is it like for minorities, who investigation shows are actually targeted so must have it worse? What is it like for young people who don’t have money and lawyers and an understanding of how law enforcement is supposed to work, so can’t defend themselves AT ALL?
tm86 says
Yes I do agree that the system sucks and won’t do [removed] for you unless you have the funds to pay the lawyer to actually do his job right..it seems as though these days they give people convictions for [removed] they don’t even do.for example, you have jerks that like to call the cops for no reason and claim they were threatened ..waste time and money doing so..and that person who so called “threatened” gets arrested and charged for a crime that wasn’t even committed ..yay .way to go society..abuse the system so its unfair to others…
Tim Scott says
So, Ray…having gotten your nebulous name calling and speculative nonsense about me busted into shards I notice you haven’t come back. I suppose manning up and apologizing is beyond you, so I’ll just be glad to see the back of you.
