PALMDALE – The Palmdale Sheriff Station’s monthly “Coffee with a Cop” session will be a held at a new location this Friday.
“Coffee with a Cop” will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at Legacy Commons, located at 930 East Avenue Q-9 in Palmdale.
The informal meet-up is a chance for law enforcement and Palmdale residents to come together in a neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships and drink coffee.
Residents are encouraged to ask questions and learn more about the sheriff’s department’s work in Palmdale’s neighborhoods.
“We hope that community members will feel comfortable to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know our deputies,” Captain Don Ford of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station said in a news release. “These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships.”
“Coffee with a Cop” is a national initiative supported by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members, one cup of coffee at a time.
For more information about Palmdale’s “Coffee with a Cop” program, contact Deputy Ray Wilson at 661-272-2478 or email Rtwilson@lasd.org.

“These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships”
Complaints, Complaints and more Complaints all the time against cops, but if the community don’t get involved and go to this meetings, the relation between cops and the citizens will never get better.

What do you think is a likely outcome? Does the deputy sent out for coffee come back and start the department effectively policing itself so the feds don’t have to do it? Or am I so impressed that I turn into a fawning sycophant who stops caring about their excesses?
I don’t see either of those happening myself.

One step at the time.
You need to start by going there and yell out loud your complaints and concerns to the department.
Johnny Trece says
I’m in favor of a cheeseburger picnic instead of coffee.
