LANCASTER – A man died Tuesday of injuries he suffered in an assault about three months ago in Lancaster, authorities said.
Joaquin Alexandre, 61, of Lancaster was pronounced dead around 9:17 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, according to coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.
Alexandre had checked himself into a local hospital Monday, Sept. 21, sheriff’s homicide detectives said in a news release.
“The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office determined the victim’s death was caused by injuries sustained from an assault that occurred on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, in the 44000 block of Shad Street, Lancaster,” the sheriff’s news release states.
Homicide detectives were responding to the hospital to investigate the circumstances surrounding Alexandre’s death, according to the sheriff’s news release, which did not provide any details on the assault or the extent of Alexandre’s injuries.
Homicide detectives could not be reached for comment Tuesday afternoon.
Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).

Oh, wait. The coroner’s office has said no such thing, we at the LACSD just make stuff up so routinely that it didn’t occur to us to not do so here. Oddly enough we had to issue a correction, probably because the FBI is all over us due to our routine transgressions.

Tim the FBI has better things to do. They are not investigating Sherriffs. Although it does make for a great book….. Hmm thanks for the idea…. I can implement this into my story. Ty

When the justice department investigates local law enforcement, who does the work if it isn’t the FBI? Or do you think that the recently settled cases were the only cases open?
