LANCASTER – A Veterans Resource Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. today (Nov. 9) at the Pioneer Event Center, located at 45000 Valley Central Way (near JetHawks Stadium) in Lancaster.
All service members, former and current, are invited to attend. The event is presented by Congressman Steve Knight, who will speak about the importance of providing resources to service members and efforts in congress to improve the lives of veterans.
“Our veterans have risked everything to protect us and our way of life, and they deserve quality care and services when they return home,” stated Knight. “I am proud to be part of the effort to connect them to organizations that will provide these services.”
The event will feature booths hosted by various veterans’ service organizations, including the Military Resource Center/Mental Health America, The Antelope Valley Veteran’s Community Action Coalition (AVVCAC), High Desert Medical Group, and The William J. “Pete” Knight Veterans Home of California.
The Antelope Valley Transit Authority will be taking applications and photos to create laminated AVTA Veterans Cards that can be used to access local transit services for free. AVTA customer service representatives will be on hand to process applications and the $2 application fee will be waived.
