LANCASTER – An apartment fire in Lancaster Monday left two people injured, authorities said.
The fire was reported around 11:26 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, on the 1600 block of West Avenue K-8, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Firefighters extinguished the flames in about 10 minutes, the Fire Department reported.
The injured were transported for hospital treatment, but condition reports were not released. One of the injured, an elderly person, was not breathing when transported, fire officials said Monday afternoon. The other person sustained minor injuries, officials said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.

UPDATED 1/5/16: Carmen Cava, 75, died in connection with the fire, coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said Tuesday morning. “She was pulled out of a building on fire and was later pronounced dead,” Winter said. Cava died at the hospital at 2:13 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, according to Winter.
