PALMDALE – Seats are still available for the city of Palmdale’s bus excursion to the Mummies: New Secrets from the Tomb exhibition at the Natural History Museum this Saturday, Jan. 9.
The bus leave at 8 a.m. from the Palmdale Transportation Center, located at 39000 Clock Tower Plaza. It will return at 5 p.m. Tickets are $32 for the general public but discounted to $25 for Palmdale residents.
Registration is available at www.cityofpalmdale.org/playpalmdale, or at the recreation and culture office, 38260 10th Street East, open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Get a rare, up-close look at a selection of 20 mummies, many of which have never been on public display, originating from ancient Egypt and Peru and from many historic ages and backgrounds,” said Palmdale Recreation Supervisor Paula Leszkiewicz. “This exhibition reveals these people’s burial secrets, new details about their lives, and the societies they lived in.”

Dana Point celebrates the annual migration of the California Gray Whale. The festival includes a fine arts show, classic car display, children’s activities, clam chowder cook off and musical entertainment. Bring your binoculars. While whale sightings are not guaranteed, they are entirely possible.
The Broad – April 16, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. $25 – Discounted to $20 for Palmdale residents.
The Broad is a new contemporary art museum located in downtown Los Angeles. The museum is home to nearly 2,000 works of art in the Broad collection, which is among the most prominent holding of postwar and contemporary art worldwide. The Broad is located within walking distance of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, Museum of Contemporary Art, L.A. Central Library and Grand Park.
The Old Mission San Buenaventura – April 30, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. $25 – Discounted to $20 for Palmdale residents.
Situated along California’s coastline, The Old Mission welcomes visitors to its beautiful gardens and faithfully restored artifacts. Ninth in the series of 21 missions, it is a component of the Historic Walking Tour of Ventura and within close proximity to other historically relevant buildings and venues.
California Strawberry Festival – May 21, 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. $25 – Discounted to $20 for Palmdale residents.
Ranking among the top festivals in the entire nation, the Strawberry Festival in Oxnard boasts lip-smacking strawberries every way imaginable. The festival features concert performances, more than 200 fine arts and crafts booths, cooking demonstrations, children’s rides and activities, gooey contests and more.
