LANCASTER – The Antelope Valley Transit Authority (AVTA) has received a clean financial audit report for the 2015 fiscal year. The accounting firm of Windes, Inc., recently completed its annual audit of AVTA’s financial statements.
The auditing firm issued an unmodified (“clean”) opinion, reporting that there were no findings or weaknesses detected for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015. It found that AVTA complied with all federal requirements connected to grant funding.
“The Board is very proud of AVTA’s management team for this accomplishment,” stated Chairman Marvin Crist. “Sound budgetary decisions depend on clean and accurate books, which the AVTA finance department consistently provides through prudent and thorough financial practices.”
AVTA has been working with Windes, Inc., an accounting firm headquartered in Long Beach, since 2011. This is the fourth consecutive year that AVTA has received a clean audit report.
The agency also recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014. The certificate of achievement is considered one of the highest forms of recognition for financial reporting by government entities.
“We are very pleased with the results of the audit,” stated Finance Director Colby Konisek. “As a department, we take this annual review very seriously, and the positive findings reflect AVTA’s dedication and commitment to the highest standards of financial management.”
“The audit report supports our objective of accountability to our customers and the community, and confirms that we are being good stewards of the public funding we receive,” stated Executive Director Len Engel. “We are doing everything we can within our budget to provide high quality public transportation services to Antelope Valley residents.”
AVTA provides local, commuter and dial-a-ride service to residents in Lancaster, Palmdale and unincorporated portions of northern Los Angeles County.

The audit may be clean but something smells in D.C. I hear they hired a low performer to lobby for AVTA. Its under the signatory authority of the CEO to do this but I wonder why he never told the board or the public for that matter. The board Chairman has a hidden agenda, ask him about it.

Why is Marv so intent on buyin buses from a company that donated to Rex’s campaign? These electric busses are more expensive and are unproven. Hasn’t he done any research on what’s been happening with car batteries? Smh
