PALMDALE – Officers from the California Highway Patrol Antelope Valley Area office are inviting local residents to an informal gathering to discuss community issues, build relationships and have coffee.
The CHP’s “Coffee with a Cop” event will start at 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Butler’s Coffee, located at 40125 10th Street West, Suite I, in Palmdale.
Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the CHP’s work in the Antelope Valley neighborhoods.
Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for relaxed, one-on-one interactions.
“We hope community members will welcome the opportunity to ask questions, bring concerns forward, or simply get to know our officers,” stated Captain Jesse Holguin. “These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships.”
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members, one cup of coffee at a time.

This is a wonderful program! A pleasure to meet the officers. Thank you for your work.

I would be much more thrilled if they set up tables with doughnuts, fruit, and hot coffee for the Homeless. And handed out a pair or two of socks to each of them.
Shane Falco says
Mary there are already many programs to help the homeless, be it from entitlements to charities and churches.
People complain there is mistrust of law enforcement so officers and deputies reach out in a very informal and relaxed setting to answer all kinds of questions. I’ve even seen them sign off on fix-it tickets at no charge and instruct people how to properly use car seats.
It’s very relaxed and folks like Tim should take advantage of the chance to tell the police how to do their jobs.
Tim Scott says
The purpose of the program is to help mend the divide that the police have created. I would never want to disrupt that effort, even though I don’t think it will work. Too many people like you with badges who are just there sucking up the coffee and OT and thinking what scum normal people are.
Shane Falco says
Well I don’t drink coffee but I do like overtime. Normal people aren’t scum, Tim. The scum are the habitual criminals. The taggers, rapists, pedophiles, people who abuse women and children.
The issue is that more and more of these types and people excusing the behavior of these types, are in the AV and firmly believe it’s the police that are the issue.
You, Tim have an opportunity to tell these police officers just how bad they are for the community and what reprehensible people they are. Instead, you’ll be the beta that you are and instead post it anonymously online.
Perhaps you can regale us further with your tales of your alleged “cop neighbor” to demonstrate how bad they are.
Tim Scott says
LOL…how much Greek alphabet do you know Shane? Do you think it makes you look intellectual? What a buffoon. As I’ve told plenty of other people who play the keyboard warrior tune, feel free to e-mail me and we can meet at your leisure. I’ll happily say to your face everything I’ve said about you here.
timshatemail at gmx dot com. Your move, big bold alpha clown.
Tim Scott says
timshatemail at gmx dot com and we’ll set something up. I’d be happy to tell you what an alpha clown I think you are to your face.

Exactly Mary, why would I want to have coffee with police officers? All I see them do is park their thick derrières on 45th and Wrightwood and cite car after car without any effort, pure entrapment. Most of the community has lost complete respect for them, they are good for harassing minorities and that’s all folks! Homeless need much more support than they have, “entitlement?” Shane, go jump into a chemical fire because your heart is completely putrid. Search White supremacy and priviledge and Shane’s picture will pop-up!!!

How is it entrapment if people are breaking published laws? It is not like the officers are inviting them to dragrace, telling them to ignore traffic signs, calling them on their cell phones or texting them to get them to pick it up.
Tim Scott says
From the state guidelines for setting speed limits:
“In addition, setting the speed limit arbitrarily low often makes violators of a disproportionate number of drivers, does not facilitate the orderly movement of traffic, and requires constant enforcement to maintain compliance.”
This is the basis for fighting a local “speed trap,” such as described here. If a spot is “set up” so that fat cops can sit and reel off tickets for fund raising purposes it is in fact entrapment.
Disclaimer: I don’t know the specifics at 45th and Wrightwood, or even where that is exactly, but based on SMHX2’s description it may be worth looking into if you get a ticket there. It’s also worth shooting some video of the cops in question. Cops that set up at such places frequently don’t bother with such legalities as actually verifying the speed. Nothing better than having some fat pig open his testimony talking about the calibration date of his verification device and then busting his perjuring ass with a video showing that in many cases he never used it.
SMHX2 says
Are you familiar with the area? The closest street that crosses the same direction is 1/2 a mile away and the closest sign with a posted speed is 5 blocks away unless you can make it to 47th, which is highly impacted with traffic, people have no other choice than to take that street and the fat cops in bikes sit there issuing tickets left and right. I am usually outside my vehicle waiting for my children and have told many to fight the tickets and guess what? They’ve won- moron! What is dragrace? LOL

Drag race. Wish this site had a better editing system. I noticed it after hitting enter.
Did you call me a moron?

Mary, that already exists. It’s called Grace Resources. Right across the street is Mental Health America. Right down the street is the shelter. Tons of other free $hit within walking distance.
