PALMDALE – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will be conducting a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Palmdale this Saturday, March 26, between the hours of 6 p.m. and 2 a.m.
Deputies will be looking for signs of alcohol and drug impairment. They also will check for proper licensing and will strive to delay motorists only momentarily. Specially trained officers will be available to evaluate those suspected of drug-impaired driving, which now accounts for a growing number of impaired driving crashes.
Drivers caught driving impaired can expect the impact of a DUI arrest to include jail time, fines, fees, DUI classes, and other expenses that can exceed $10,000.
Funding for this operation is provided to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

If you think these check points are solely about generating revenue, you’re a half-breed moron. Try riding in a car sober with a completely inebriated driver (as a 13 year old, you have no choice when the inebriated driver is your father) who’s only way of knowing that he’s driving straight is to line the middle of the car up with the white line on the passenger side of the road so you drive home 40 miles with the car straddling the white line the entire way. Or how about almost being killed by a wrong way driver passing your car going 60+mph down a 2 lane freeway? Or following a car that most definitely has a drunk driver at the wheel and is swerving all over the road but gets off the freeway before you can get through to 911 and all you can do is hope that the driver gets home before s/he hurts someone? Hopefully you’ve been lucky enough to avoid these sorts of things in your life but they’ve all happened to me and they were pant-sh*ttingly scary every singly time. Each time I never thought I’d been so scared until the next time topped it. I’m not asking for kudos or a backslap and most of you posting about the “pigs” will only have negative things to say, I’m sure, but I am appreciative for anyone out there doing they’re part to prevent drunk or IMPAIRED drivers because driving under the influence at all is a major risk to all drivers AND passengers on the road, at all times.

Keep it to yourself, Mel. Just because your dad was a boozed up menace to society 90% of his waking hours, doesn’t mean perfectly coherent adults should be getting arrested because they blow the magic, arbitrary BAC# into the magic machine. Remember, this magic BAC percentage was perfectly legal not too long ago until our “leaders” figured out the cash to be generated. It’s the American way; fabricate statistics, exaggerate the real danger, create a pool of “criminals”, and wage war against them. Yes, DRUNK driving is dangerous and nobody ever said it wasn’t. Sorry man, the truth is a mothrfkr. Statistics pumped out by MADD and LE agencies are wildy exaggerated. Do some research.

Completely agree. The ones posting about “pigs” are a big part of the problem.

They should just set up checkpoints outside of every event in Lancaster. Fair, booze. Dollar beer at Jethawks, booze. Field of Drafts, booze. Celebrate America, booze. Streets of Lancaster, booze. The new one with bacon, booze. Booze, booze, booze. Does Pastor Paul approve? Or is he silent with his sewer and utilities put in courtesy of the taxpayer?

Just check all the hipsters coming out of Maxdons, that oughta generate some revenue.
appreciative says
Maybe you should have your BAC checked!

Try working on the ER or as a public service professional and maybe you would get your head out of your a**. I’ve seen my share and they do help get people off of the street that could honestly hurt others. Do them a favor and have your stuff ready, be respectful, and don’t drink and drive. It’s really that simple. Most law enforcement officers would rather not be out there. Does having people throw up on you or treat you rudely sound fun to you? Before you spew hate and try to bring unrest against those out to protect you and your family, put yourself in their shoes. Oh and just because there are some officers who do not do as they preach does not mean the majority do. There are bad apples in all fields.

Boo-f’in-hoo. Let’ all shed a tear for cops that applied for the job because they wanted the job. And your ER stories are the exception, not the norm. These little low level, low BAC, trumped up, exaggerated BS arrests are about money and puffing up arrest numbers using fabricated stats and tear jerker stories, pure and simple.
LoatheTheAV says
Guard your wallets tightly. The pigs will be out arresting perfectly coherent adults because they blew the magic, arbitrary BAC#( pay no mind that this arbitray BAC# used to be perfectly legal). Never mind 95% of all car accidents involve completely sober drivers. Never mind MADD and law enforcement fabricate statistics out of thin air. Pay no mind that intoxicated off-duty cops drink and drive ALOT and just pull the “badge” trick if they get pulled over and are on their merry way.
