Murder charge filed against babysitter accused of injuring baby in Lancaster

LANCASTER – A woman accused of assaulting an infant she was babysitting was charged Friday with his murder after the baby boy succumbed to his injuries, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office announced.

Brittany Ann Ingrassi, 30, of Palmdale was originally charged on March 24 with assault on a child becoming comatose and child abuse, with an allegation that Ingrassi personally inflicted great bodily injury on the victim and that he was under the age of five, according to Deputy District Attorney Keri Knittel.

The case was amended Friday to include one count each of murder and assault on a child causing death.

The baby, identified on the felony complaint as Aiden L., was left at a Lancaster home under the care of Ingrassi on the morning of March 22, the prosecutor said.

When the victim’s mother returned that evening, she was allegedly met by Ingrassi outside of the home and was made aware that the baby was not breathing, the prosecutor added. The mother then called 911, and the baby was transported to a local hospital with numerous injuries, according to the prosecutor.

Sheriff’s officials previously stated that the baby had head trauma and bruising to the upper torso. [Read more here.]

The infant died at the hospital on March 26.

Ingrassi has been in custody since her March 22 arrest, according to LASD inmate records. She faces 25 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged. Her bail has been set at $1 million.

Arraignment is scheduled for April 15 in Department A01 of the Los Angeles County  Superior Court, Antelope Valley Branch.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.   1. I don’t know, as I was was leaving Wal Mart. Over heard a conversation stating the baby was injured accidentally by the mother. Babies mother was afraid for some reason. Prior to leaving the baby with the babysitter. Instead of informing the sitter of the incident, so the baby could be evaluated. She didn’t understand the extent of the injury when she dropped the baby. If this is the case, the mother needs to express what happened.

This baby was a male and no one gives a !#*! About men in America so it was with Gabriel the case worker cared nothing. Have you noticed the NFL takes out a whole month for breast cancer and raise hundreds millions of $$$ for them and all women do is Bash the NFL. At the same time Men suffer from prostate cancer at the same rate and there’s not ONE Female group on the earth even cares.     • Funny, when I was growing up, women could do no right. We are told we have to watch our weight to the point many develop eating disorders. We are told that our self worth comes from our appearance so many turn to plastic surgery to conform. Society tells us we don’t need to be smart, just young and pretty.
