LANCASTER – Antelope Valley residents will get to voice their opinions on service changes that are under consideration by the Antelope Valley Transit Authority(AVTA). The agency is seeking public comment through a series of outreach efforts this month.
Public input will be incorporated into a set of final recommendations that will be presented to the Board of Directors during a public hearing on May 24. If approved, the service changes would go into effect July 25, 2016.
“Our primary goal at AVTA is to provide excellent customer service to the residents of our community,” stated AVTA Board Chair Marvin Crist. “We are constantly evaluating our routes to identify areas for improvement that better meet the needs of our residents. The feedback we receive from our customers is invaluable as it guides us in the right direction so that our route changes are effective.”
In response to initial community feedback, AVTA developed service change recommendations aimed at improving route directness and shortening travel times. One of the agency’s top priorities is to increase the number of buses servicing Route 1 so that customers can catch a bus every 20 The agency is also considering increased service for Route 1 on Saturdays, with evening service extended until 10 p.m.
Additional service change proposals include adjustments to schedules on Routes 4 and 5, with a realignment proposed for Route 7. Route realignments are also under consideration for rural routes serving Littlerock, Pearblossom, and Lake Los Angeles. All proposed changes for these routes would maintain schedule frequencies and connectivity along current corridors. Adding service on major holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving is also under consideration.

A good suggestion is to have the board members station themselves at a station and get the feedback from the riders. They will find out that the service is failing the residents. Oh but wait, they are too high and mighty to that… it’s beneith their payscale.
Tell The Truth says
if any of these changes raise property taxes in any way by one penny LEAVE IT AS IS or make it less than it already is. These freakin bus run damn near empty all day but cost the city a ton of cash.
Yes, please tell the truth says
I’ve not ridden often, but I’ve NEVER been on an AVTA bus that could be described as “damn near empty.”
Double Dutch Bus says
AVTA busses are certainly rarely if ever crowded. Now we are going to have the most expensive fleet in the nation thanks to Marv Crist, who is following Rex’s orders. Think it’s s coincidence that BYD’s president is one of Rex’s biggest campaign donors?

Really? Mid day east side may be 10 ppl. Happens all the time.

Listen Girl….
This message is for AVTA Users…
I guess you are NOT one of them…Lucky You. Then shout your mouth…You are too loud.
I hate when People is NOT affected by the City Services…. and they keep complaining…
BTW… I am not an AVTA user either. I am blessed to have my own transportation.

I understand the USA is a car-driven society but it is a great pity that the Lake LA-Lancaster Express completely ignores the needs of those who live in the Hi Vista area. Having the closest stopping point at 170th/K-8 renders the service virtually useless. I do wonder why there can’t be a bus stopping point closer to 170th and Ave. J.

All the buses should be running every half an hour even on weekends the buses to stop at midnight every single day that is stopping on weekends at 7 p.m.
