LANCASTER – Westside Union School District has been recognized for its efforts in lowering the achievement gap by the Campaign for Business and Education Excellence (CBEE).
Hillview Middle School, Gregg Anderson Academy and Rancho Vista Elementary garnered the 2015 CBEE Honor Roll Award. This marks two years in a row for Hillview Middle School and Gregg Anderson Academy.
“Our faculty and staff work diligently to focus on student achievement and to encourage students in innovative ways to get excited about learning,” stated Westside Union School District Superintendent Regina Rossall. “It’s a great honor to be recognized by California’s business community as an honor roll recipient.”
Each year, CBEE presents its Honor Roll Award to individual schools that have excelled in raising student achievement. Schools receiving this distinction have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic success, including reduction in achievement gaps and persistent improvement overtime.
“Our school district takes great pride in the quality of all our schools. We are grateful to have three schools win an award this year and represent our district well as a whole,” said Rossall.
Serving nearly 9,000 students spread across 346 square miles, Westside Union School District features 12 schools, from kindergarten to 8th grade. Westside Union School District schools exceed the 800 score on the Academic Performance Index administered by the California Department of Education
