The 2 ‘drug impaired drivers’ were most like for weed. Is there any evidence weed even impairs driving? I smoked pot and drove for 25 years and was never in a car accident.

You realize your name is on your post. If you’re going to be an idiot at least be anonymous. They caught 3 DUI’s and it wasn’t funded with local tax… I don’t see how you can complain.

Maybe he isn’t considering waste of federal funding to be any better than wasting local tax money. That’s my guess anyway.
The main point of these “papers please” checkpoints is to turn a lot of federal money into some small amount of local general fund money. It is grossly inefficient. In this on checkpoint it is notable that the federal money intended to target stopping drunk driving did surprisingly catch three drunk drivers as opposed to the usual one, or zero, but the program overall borders on fraud.

How efficient. How many man hours were spent on this operation? I think 1 officer parked down the street from just about any liquor store for 8 hrs could do the same. Meanwhile, in order to maintain public safety, over 1000 innocent people were subjected to scrutiny. No big deal. If you have nothing to hide, right? And any drunk driver or escaped felon with a smart phone avoided the place as soon as they were alerted by the media…
