PALMDALE – One motorist was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and seven people were arrested for other violations at a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint conducted in Palmdale this past weekend, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale Station conducted the checkpoint at 10th Street West and Technology Drive, between the hours of 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, and 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27.
The results of the checkpoint are as follows:
- 1222 vehicles were screened.
- One DUI-alcohol suspect was arrested.
- Seven drivers were cited/arrested for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while license was suspended/revoked.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale Station will be conducting additional DUI/driver’s license checkpoints throughout the year as part of an ongoing commitment to lowering deaths and injuries upon streets and highways.
The operation was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

I’VE seen off duty deputies getting hammered at Schooners and then getting behind the wheel of their vehicles and leaving the establishment. Funny thing is, im sure some of them are assisting in conducting the DUI checkpoints.

You better f…ckin’ believe it. I too have seen this. But hey, when you work for the man disgusting hypocrisy is the business you truck in.
Boozer says
The cops had a field day picking off drunk after drunk at the fair. Like I always say, if the cops want to make DUI arrests all they need to do is set up shop in Lancaster around one of their booze fests and they will make a killing. AV Booze Fair, Celebrate America with Booze, Field of Booze, Streets of Booze, the BOozeLVD, and so on. Booze, booze, and more booze! No limits, just keep drinking. But the mayor wants to stop selling single bottles in stores. No wonder Lancaster has become a punch line joke. Where is Xavier when you need him? Just another Rex tool.
Mr fed up says
every event sells booze, this is america! If u dont want booze dont drink it! But dont keep others from enjoying it. Ic your worried about Lancaster events that sell booze, go a step further sbut down every resturant in the entire antelope valley, cause they all sell booze, or just go to mc donalds you dont have to worry about booze
Sam says
Lancaster would be wise to limit how many drinks a person could get an event, especially one that has a lot of kids. The Fair especially seems to be a place where heavy drinking happens. Rex would be wiser to limit the number of drinks a person could buy rather than outlawing the sale of single serve alcohol in stores. But wisdom is not something we see a lot from our mayor.
Mr fed up says
I understand that logic

One.
