LOS ANGELES – A Los Angeles County deputy probation officer accused of fondling four teenage girls at a juvenile camp in Santa Clarita pleaded not guilty Thursday to a half-dozen felony counts.
Oscar David Calderon Jr., 32, could face up to five years in state prison if convicted of two counts of committing a lewd act on a child and four counts of assault by a public officer.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Deborah Brazil ordered Calderon, who was arrested Wednesday, to remain jailed in lieu of $250,000 bail.
He is due back in court Feb. 8, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require him to stand trial.
Calderon — who has worked as a deputy probation officer for about nine years — is accused of inappropriately touching four girls between 15 and 18 years old and making sexual overtures at Camp Scudder in Santa Clarita, where he began working in 2014.
The criminal complaint alleges that the crimes occurred between November 2014 and July 2016 — with the bulk of them allegedly occurring last year.
“Because it’s an open criminal case, we can’t discuss the specifics of the case …,” Chief Probation Officer Terri McDonald said in a statement released by the probation department.
“The allegations that this one individual is facing does not reflect the motive, dedication and work of the 6,500-plus employees of the probation department,” McDonald said. “The department won’t tolerate abuse of its clients, and we will seek prosecution of any alleged criminal conduct to the extent legally permissible.”

Keep in mind that some of these kids are hard core criminals. A lot of time these girls make claims cause they are pissed off and want revenge on an officer that denied them, wrote them up etc. Its sucks that when your an officer your guilty and have to prove yourself innocent. If it turns out he innocent then he will have a big law suit and will make money for slander etc

I do not know of any mental health testing or screening that can PREVENT this behavior. The LA CO Probation department had a female “counselor” who got in trouble (sexual contact) with a juvenile male offender. If you search it CDC/ CO Jails and other custody type of facilities have had this problem before mostly in adult facilities. I stand by my opinion / comment it will reduce the chances but it will never remove. When PC dictates the policy and not common sense it usually not a good policy for the taxpayers.

The PC politico hacks should stop this practice. This is good example of WHY males should never be allowed to work in a female adult/ juvenile facilities and vice versa WHY no females in male facilities (if allow possible). Mr. Numbnutz will most likely get convicted of his charges, serve time in prison on PC status. He will get out and register as a sexual offender for LIFE. If we are lucky he will be sentenced consecutive of each count and not concurrent. We have seen this same scenario played out over and over again in this state and others states. The families of these female juvenile offenders will get a VERY large sum of money from the county (taxpayers). His acts were under color of authority, not a whole lots of time, however, the feds can pick it up after the state is done and prosecute him. Yes, deputy probation officer are not cops just like parole agents/CO are not cops but both are sworn peace officer & have powers to arrest in California & in most states.

I really have to disagree with your comment on gender staffing, what needs to be done is better mental testing of employees before they are put with kids, and a better policy of no one adult should ever be alone with a minor, this will help with false allocations as well. In today’s world a young girl is just as likely too be sexually harassed by another female. And the same for males. A person that is mentally sound should have no problems working with any gender.

Yeah like the ” badge” given by DOJ and Kamala to those so called ” diplomats” claiming 3,500 year old laws that gave them the right to do their acts, thievery , murder et . Same crap as the LISCENSES that are issued to PREDITORS allowing them to sexually use, exploit and rape their victims which are usually children or those unable to defend themselves. This of course helps them with their ” addiction” and rehabilitation , and if course a job of ” equality” and ” authority” since they are so discriminated against …..part of the “deal” made for what is ” owed” to them. ..SICKENING

Can’t discuss the specifics of the case…..what a bunch of crap. C riminals are way more protected than any TRUE or potential victims

Only when the criminal has a badge. If this was a regular citizen the cops and the DA would be presenting every bit of evidence they have to the public, even if the “evidence” was nothing more than speculation. By the time a regular case gets to court there are usually no potential jurors who haven’t already been convinced of guilt, even if there is actually no solid evidence.
But when the criminal has a badge they rally the blue wall. “Can’t discuss the case…but let me remind you that cops are the good guys here, lives on the line, yada yada yada”

What evidence or details did you not get from the article, Tim?
You are ranting that if this was anybody but a cop (probation officers are not cops) that all the evidence and details would somehow be laid out in public.
What is funny is that in articles such as the one about those arrested as co-conspirators in killing Steve Owen, you were wondering what the evidence was connecting them to the crime and wanting to know more.
No special treatment Tim, no matter how hard you might want to look.

Sure Foolco. Denial is what is expected from a clan of bad cops and their baton polishing sycophants, so thanks for coming through and meeting expectations. Now, better get back to telling your wife what a great provider you are.

You dodged everything I said with more hyperbole.
Tell me where there has been more information revealed in cases that involve a probation officer or a police officer. You can’t. You even stated as much on this very website.
I’m not sure what more information you need as the basic facts have been laid out. There will be a preliminary hearing where more information will come out just like with every other case.
Maybe there is some other reason you want more of the salacious details…?
Tim Scott says
I gave you the response you’ve earned; scorn. I don’t dodge your questions, I consider the source and ignore them.
