LA County Air Show in Lancaster this weekend

LANCASTER – Thousands of aviation fans will gather in Lancaster this weekend for the Los Angeles County Air Show, featuring the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds Jet Demonstration Team, aircraft static displays, warbirds, the Patriot Parachute Team, a hands-on STEM exhibition, aviation history panels and live music.

Themed “Red, White and Boom!”, the event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, and Sunday, March 26, at General William J. Fox Airfield, located at 4555 West Avenue G in Lancaster.

Gate ticket prices are $25 for adults, $20 for children ages 6-11, and $20 for military (ID required). Kids 5 and under are free. General parking is $10. Tickets may be purchased online at a discount. To purchase tickets online, click here.

The world famous United States Air Force Thunderbirds will headline both Air Show days.

  • NASA ER-2 High Altitude Science Aircraft flyover
  • Supermarine Spitfire Mk XIV and the Yakovlev Yak-3 Warbird flyovers by the Commemorative Air Force Southern California’s Wing – Camarillo
  • North American F-86F Sabre, Lockheed P-38J Lightning, North American P-51 Mustang, Vought F4U-1 Corsair and the North American B-25J Mitchell Warbird flyovers by the Planes of Fame Air Museum

The event will also feature Aeronautical History Panels, including:

  • Breaking Barriers: Women in Aviation
  • Free Falling from Space
  • Going Downtown — The Air War in Vietnam
  • White Knights and Starry Skies — The Voyage Toward Civilian Space Travelers

  1. Yes, another excellent show. I have been to all of the Fox Field shows, since the discontinuation of the Edwards Open Houses. How I miss the Edwards venue. Before 9/11, it was a wonderful experience.
    Not as many static displays at the LA Air Show , this year, compared to last. Hopefully, in future shows there will be more. The food variety very good this year, also.
    Would like to see grandstands on the flight lines , also. Sitting in a portable chair is alright, for some, but maybe the event organizers could see more profit to rent these grandstands as the Rose Parade organizers do. Maybe give the Tournament people a call ???

  2. The Airshow was a phenomenal success once again. This is the fourth annual airshow held at Fox Field and the second time the United States Air Force Thunderbirds performed. As a volunteer, I am proud to be part of this Antelope Valley History. I hope more local citizens feel it is worth coming to next year. Too many friends and neighbors told me they were going to watch it from their yards. But that doesn’t bring to life the many static displays, exhibits, and Historical Panel discussions that are only available at the show. Please, be sure to watch out for next years show and mark the date on your calendar. Old timers may recall the airshows held at Edwards AFB so many years ago. But after 9/11, that was deemed to much of a security risk. And with sequestration, there wasn’t the money to hold a show if they wished. This is the city, county and local communities getting together to provide a wonderful experience for all the citizens, young and old. It is well worth the cost, time and effort.
