LITTLEROCK – Two back-seat passengers died Monday afternoon when a car and a pickup truck collided in a Littlerock intersection, authorities said.
The fatal collision happened around 2 p.m. Monday, June 12, on 87th Street East and Fort Tejon Road, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
Ho Chuen Wong, 25, of Sacramento was driving a 2017 Ford Fiesta southbound on 87th Street East at about 75 miles per hour when he failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the Fort Tejon Road intersection, the CHP report states.
The Ford Fiesta entered the intersection and was hit by a 2004 Chevy Silverado traveling westbound on Fort Tejon Road at about 50 miles per hour, the CHP report states.
“Both rear passengers of [the Ford Fiesta] sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision,” the CHP report states.
The deceased passengers — a 62-year-old woman and a 56-year-old woman, both from Hong Kong — have not been named pending next of kin notification.
A third passenger in the car, 25-year-old Ho Yuen Wong of Sacramento, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital.
The Ford Fiesta’s driver [Ho Chuen Wong] sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment.
The Chevy Silverado’s driver and passenger, 30-year-old John C. Lennox and 62-year-old Charles M. Lennox, both of Pearblossom, sustained minor injuries in the collision, according to the CHP report.
“Alcohol or drugs were not factors in this collision,” the CHP report states.
UPDATE: The deceased back-seat passengers have been identified as 62-year-old Muk Lan Yau and 56-year-old Oi Lan Yau, both of Hong Kong — the mother and the aunt of the Ford Fiesta’s driver and front seat passenger. The driver and front seat passenger — twin brothers Ho Chuen Wong and Ho Yuen Wong — are 25-year-old exchange students from Hong Kong living in Sacramento, officials said.

I have always said the speed limit on Pearblossom Hey was too fast to begin with..They should think putting 40 mph speed signs.. it would make a world of difference.. Everyone’s always trying to speed by where not relax and see the scenery Little Rock has to offer
Gowchong says
They can post a 40 MPH sign, but do you really think anyone would actually obey that speed limit. Looks like the driver of the car that blew the stop sign was going “…about 75….”
Speed kills, so does irresponsible driving as was no doubt exhibited in this case.
Tim Scott says
By state law you can’t post speed limits that are way out of line with the natural flow of traffic. That’s called a “speed trap” and is recognized as just a way for little burgs to raise money.

The Wong’s twin brothers are astonishing men. The driver Darren HoChuen Wong seized the opportunity to administrate a fund-raise at the very next day. The campaign story was written in first-person role as HoYuen, the elder twin brother front passenger, claiming he “need $32,000 USD to continue the remaining programs”. The fatal collision and fund-raise had been coincidentally reported by numerous Hong Kong newspapers and some mainland China web media, hence the fund-raise acquired over forty thousand dollars within only one day.
Job well done!
Joe says
All you generous supporters blindly guessed the aftermath of the resilient Wong’s brothers; why not read for yourself their request and the donors’ comments on their fund-raise page. But hurry before the page is terminated for fraudulence reason.

The twin brother already lost their mom and mom sister, some of the comments here blaming the twin brother driver at false to deserves the lost of their loves one, they better be careful of Karma for themselves when traveling to a new place.

I met these two young men in the emergency room yesterday. I spent several hours talk with them and I found out that the young driver was here spending time with his family celebrating his up coming graduation from UC DAVIS this week. What do you say to someone that just lost there mother and aunt in a terrible accident. No words or actions will ever bring them back. All I could was try to console them with my words and compassion and sphypathie. I met two of the strongest young men that I have met in my life. I could see the tears in the eye and hear the trembling in there words as I sat with then. They are both here from Hong Kong not really knowing the area they simply got lost and turn around. Yes they were speeding but never really unstood the road signs the young man that was driving thought he had the right away. So don’t be so quick to lash out at these young men show some compassion. As a whole we all are already to convict or condemn with out really knowing the facts. My condolence goes out to these young men and there family as well to the other family involved in this unfortunate accident. God bless and watch over you all.

“Don’t undrstand the stop sign”
I am not sure that’s possible if he has a valid driving license. A stop sign is not hard to recognize.
He will most likely be charged and convicted with gross negligence causing death and to call this an “accident” when it’s entirely a human error is laughable.
I guess he will live the rest of his life with the remind that he murdered his mother and aunt. This is a rightful punishment for his reckless driving.
I smell some BS says
He’s graduating from UC Davis and he doesn’t know what a stop sign means? And let’s just say, for the sake of argument, that he truly doesn’t know what a stop sign represents (which by the way is a very basic, fundamental part of driving), then you are trying to convince us that this intelligent, “strong young man” STILL chose to drive, even though he didn’t know the fundamentals of driving? I think my 11 year old makes more responsible decisions than that!
Kevin S says
The stop sign is clearly visible, as well as the stop ahead sign over 200 yards before the stop. The lane also curves at the intersection. I can’t see someone unintentionally running that stop unless they were really distracted, like trying to figure out why they were routed that way,(the newspaper article said their GPS sent them that way) but if you think you are lost, first thing, slow down.
I’ve seen a route come up saying to bypass Littlerock in a similar way before, I think because of the reduced speed limit through Littlerock, and traffic slowdowns in Littlerock and Palmdale. The theoretical route they would have been given would be to Mt. Emma, and across to Barrel Springs, to Pearblossom Highway and then the freeway.
J says
Folks think because they are in the desert, they can just go as fast as they want on the back roads. I have been tail gated on Mt Emma many times by idiots who are in such a hurry to get nowhere fast…Why were they going 75 MPH? The speed limit on 87th is 50 MPH …If they had been going the speed limit they would have had time to stop at the stop sign. I feel bad for the guy who hit them who was going the speed limit ! I can’t imagine how he must feel knowing that people died. Condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in a senseless accident that didn’t have to happen, also to the Lennox family to have to deal with this. Everybody , just slow down to at least the speed limit.
Matt says
Not that I don’t agree about the speeding…..but you do realize it hat caused this accident was that someone was lost and missed a stop sign right? Would probably be just as dead at 55 as they were at 75mph. Fact, Autobahn has the fewest accidents in the world of any freeway. Just when they have one it’s really bad. Lol. Slow drivers….aka 50-55 cause more accidents on freeways and highways than fast ones.
G says
Well duh, if you go 50-55 on a freeway that has an average speed of around 70, they’re going to cause more accidents. The vehicle going 50 in this case was not a “slow driver” but, rather, driving the correct speed.
John says
The speed limit for semi trucks on California highways is 55. It is the “slow” cars in the far left “fast” lanes that are causing most of the accidents on our highways.
Laughing says
And the autobahn is not a narrow two lane road winding through hills with blind corners. The fool should have been going much slower if he was lost.
John says
People driving 50 – 55 mph on the desert back roads are the ones following the law. It is the ones that are driving 75 – 80 mph are the people causing accidents and death on our rural streets. They tailgate and lose patience when they get behind someone going the speed limit, then take risks when passing.
If this man was driving the speed limit he would have never crossed paths with the truck, he may have had the time to see the red stop sign in front of him.
J says
Matt, You can’t miss that sign, it is really clearly visible, no bushes in the way…flat road in the desert. Like somebody else pointed out, if you are confused or lost, slow down or pull over until you figure it out, don’t go faster then the speed limit!
Yo Daddy says
Maybe you’re the one getting nowhere slow. Many people commute to their jobs on that road.
You’re probably one of those [removed] that cruise in the passing lane.
J says
Yo Daddy, you just sound like one of the idiots that drive fast disregarding speed limits. Guess you are so special, they don’t apply to you…Leave home earlier and drive the speed limit like folks who are not law breakers do. It’s people like you that cause accidents with their impatience!
J says
Yo Daddy, you are probably one of the idiots that doesn’t think speed limits apply to you, you are special. People like that are the ones who cause the accidents! Now me, I follow the rules and go the speed limit which was put there for a reason…Grow up!
Jip Joe says
That is a deadly road. Go 65mph and people will try to pass you. The signs are not well posted. RIP to all familes and speed recovery for everyone else.
