CASTAIC – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday morning in a crash involving an SUV in the Castaic area, authorities said.
The fatal collision occurred about 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, on SR 126 at Chiquito Canyon Road, according to a California Highway Patrol report.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was riding a 2016 Yamaha R1 motorcycle westbound on SR 126 when the bike collided with a 2013 Ford Escape SUV that was turning left onto SR 126 from Chiquito Canyon Road, the CHP report states.
The motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification, coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said Tuesday afternoon.
The SUV’s driver, 45-year-old Alvin Venedeto of Castaic, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital for treatment, the CHP reported.
Alcohol and/or drugs were not believed to have been involved in the crash officials said.
