SANTA CLARITA – Detectives Thursday released surveillance images of a suspect wanted for a series of bank robberies in the Santa Clarita area.
The man robbed five Santa Clarita area banks between June and August and was seen in a white or champagne-colored Chrysler PT Cruiser, according to the sheriff’s department.
He passed demand notes that included threats to employees during the robberies and fled with cash once the tellers complied, the sheriff’s department reported.
Investigators said the bandit made off with thousands of dollars.
The man is also believed to have struck three banks, using similar methods, in Santa Barbara County between April and July, officials said.
Anyone with information regarding the bandit’s identity is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau at (562) 946-7893 or the FBI tip line at (310) 477-6565.
Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling (800) 222-TIPS.
