LANCASTER – A Lancaster man who ran over a poodle then gunned down the dog’s owner, who had asked the him to cover the animal’s medical costs, was sentenced Friday, Jan. 5, to 50 years to life in state prison.
Demonte Antone Thomas, 30, was convicted last July of first-degree murder, along with a handgun use enhancement.
According to prosecutors and sheriff’s officials, Thomas ran over a poodle in a parking lot in the 600 block of East Avenue H-14 on June 26, 2015.
The dog’s owner, Michael Davis, 22, chased down Thomas and demanded that he help pay for the dog’s veterinary expenses, but Thomas drove away, authorities said.
Later that night, Thomas went to Davis’ home with five to seven other men, and fatally shot the dog owner, who had a son and a pregnant girlfriend, officials said.
The dog died from its injuries.
Thomas was arrested just over two years ago and has remained behind bars since then, according to jail records.

… humblermost apologies, sir. But, the Reverend Al Sharpton only engages his services, over white-on-black violence. Black-on-black violence, he cannot be bothered to come to the phone –
really? says
Why would Al Sharpton need to engage his services at all when the shooter is getting 50 to life? He has been convicted for the murder Tricia.

What happened to the 5 to 7 other men? Were they charged?

Nothing was ever said about these “other men” until the article reporting the conviction. No mention in the initial shooting report. No efforts to identify them, no report of arresting them. I’m a little puzzled about how they suddenly surfaced in this story. The initial report about the shooter included “possibly driving a black pickup truck” which doesn’t seem like a way to travel with ‘five to seven other men.’
Most likely they were “rolling with their homie” in separate cars but didn’t actually get anywhere near the shooting. Then one or more of them rolled in a deal to get out of some parking tickets or something. That’s how wannabe gangs work. The DA then accepted their “we had no idea he even had a gun or why he wanted to stop there” defense to get the conviction on the shooter.

Probably would have been worth it to cover dogs vet bill rather than rot in jail for 50 Years , dumb ass ignorant , uneducated people deserve that I guess cuz they don’t know how to be an adult and handle real life situations , I guess it was easier to shoot the owner ? Wow that is truly sad that people solve issues with murder or violence , guess that just shows how weak someone really is
