212 people arrested in LA County for violating federal immigration laws

LOS ANGELES – Immigration agents this week arrested 212 people for violating federal immigration laws and served 122 “notices of inspection” to various businesses in the Los Angeles County area, authorities said.

The five-day operation ended Thursday, Feb. 15, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

“Because sanctuary jurisdictions like Los Angeles prevent ICE from arresting criminal aliens in the secure confines of a jail, our officers are forced to conduct at-large arrests in the community, putting officers, the general public and the aliens at greater risk and increasing the incidents of collateral arrests,” said ICE Deputy Director Thomas D. Homan.

Of the 212 arrestees, 195 were either convicted criminals, had been issued a final order of removal and failed to depart the United States, or had been previously removed from the United States and returned illegally, Homan said.

More than 55 percent of the arrestees had prior felony convictions for serious or violent offenses, such as child sex crimes, weapons charges, and assault, or had past convictions for significant or multiple misdemeanors, Homan said.

The arrests were driven by leads developed by the local field office in conjunction with the Pacific Enforcement Response Center, an ICE statement said.

“ICE focuses its enforcement resources on individuals who pose a threat to national security, public safety and border security,” an ICE statement said.

“However, ICE no longer exempts classes or categories of removable aliens from potential enforcement. All of those in violation of the immigration laws may be subject to immigration arrest, detention and, if found removable by final order, removal from the United States,” the statement said.

Some of the individuals arrested during this operation will face federal criminal prosecutions for illegal entry and illegal re-entry after deportation.

Arrestees who are not being federally prosecuted will be processed administratively for removal from the United States.

Those who have outstanding orders of deportation, or who returned to the United States illegally after being deported, are subject to immediate removal from the country.

The remaining individuals are in ICE custody awaiting a hearing before an immigration judge, or pending travel arrangements for removal in the near future.

Also as part of this operation, ICE personnel served 122 “notices of inspection” to a various businesses in the Los Angeles County area. A notice of inspection alerts business owners that ICE intends to audit their hiring records to determine whether or not they are in compliance with the law.

Funny thing about it is, were it not for Nancy Pelosi, Debbie Wassermann, Donna Brazile, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, in collusion, rigging the Democratic primaries for a Hillary Clinton nomination? Bernie Sanders would have won, by a landslide. All illegal immigrants would have otherwise been granted blanket amnesty, free healthcare, free education, free housing, free chain migration for their gangbanger relatives, free social security, free everything, tax free. Now, they’re busy blaming everything on the Ruskies. And, Republicans have only now just discovered, they really don’t have the stomach for mass deportations, much less fiscal discipline, anymore than do their Democratic counterparts. All these ICE raids, are window dressing. They’re not deporting anybody. They’re just trying to make it look as though they are –

    • It’s a facade. These ICE raids are political theater. Trump’s as soft on illegal immigration as Garcetti, Clinton, Pelosi and Obama. Nobody’s getting deported. If feds really were deporting wets? We’d immediately see economic impact; the bottom falling out on apartment rental price. As it is, rent in Imperial, San Diego, Riverside, Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara are going ballistic, no end in site.

    • Well, like Tim always says, it is not the state’s job to enforce the Federal laws. I guess the Feds heard him.

Mascarading as socio-liberal do-gooders, California’s landowner aristocracy are disgustingly wealthy Democrats living the high life off the fat of the land, enriching themselves collecting rent on sprawling, multiple family unit apartment complexes (e.g., glorified slave labor camps). They adore illegal immigration because (1) it jacks rent into the ionosphere and keeps it there, and (2) it drives down the real wage, keeping the middle and lower class divided, weak, and frustrated.

    • The hilarious part of your statement is that the others groups say the exact same thing. Praise the lord and all, may his noodliness fill our bellies.

        • I think you are mistaking “Christians” for “evangelical voters.” Given that a majority of Americans self identify as Christians, even though many of them don’t demonstrate any practicing of their faith, it is unlikely that 81% even turned out to vote, much less voted for Trump.

          Best to leave the ‘make up statistics that seem to sound good at the moment’ style to Trump and his defenders.

          • Church people are the reason we have Rex, Marv, and the rest of the Fern Street Mafia running Lancaster into the ground. Many of them are good people that have been misled. Others are just fools.

          • Vic, only 11.2% of the people in Lancaster voted. Why don’t you blame the people that didn’t vote? So, really, over 88% of the people that didn’t vote, and don’t care to make a change should be chastised for their apathy.

          • While I agree that Wrecks and Co use certain churches to maintain their grip (and yes Alexis, part of that is due to keeping turnout other than among those particular church members down to make their votes more effective) that doesn’t make a sweeping statement like “blame Christians” accurate. The vast majority of Christians would be even more offended by the favor trading pastor organizing his church to support Wrecks in exchange for financial support for his church than non-Christians would be.

          • The vast majority of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Taoists, Atheists, et al would be offended if they really knew what Wrecks, Marv, Raj, et al have done and were doing. They play a nice game in the public eye, but their deeds are dirty.

          • There are many ministers as well as those of us that are in complete opposition to ministers preaching politics from the pulpit. There is a great divide in this nation. I as well as those I know, stay away from arrogant, prideful ministers that have lost their focus.

      • Well, I guess since the government in the state if California vehemently said they will not enforce Federal laws, the Federal law enforcers figured it was time to come on in and enforce Federal law. Good to see they are finally allowed and able to come into the sanctuary state and enforce what is on the law books.

        • Since there is a clear assumption that they are operating without a business license they would have had to pay sales tax when they bought the flowers they are selling anyway. You can’t just walk in and say “I’ll be reselling these” and get the sales tax waived.
