PALMDALE – The city of Palmdale on Wednesday unveiled its six new dual port electronic vehicle charging stations at the Palmdale Transportation Center.
Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford, Councilmembers Austin Bishop and Steve Hofbauer, and Antelope Valley Air Quality Management District (AVAQMD) Grant Programs Coordinator Julie McKeehan were on hand to introduce the new EV stations, which can charge up to 12 vehicles at the same time.
“This is the city’s latest greatest innovation towards helping us reduce our carbon footprint,” Ledford said. “Back in 2017, thanks to the diligence of our city staff, they applied and were approved for funding through Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Charge Ready Program to install electric infrastructure at the Palmdale Transportation Center.”
SCE’s Charge Ready Program was created to deploy electric infrastructure to serve the electric vehicle needs in SCE’s service areas.
SCE’s funding covered most of the costs of the program. The remaining funding came from AVAQMD.
“I’m very proud that the AVAQMD was able to have a hand in making this a reality,” said Bishop who along with Hofbauer sits on the AVAQMD board of directors. “Although the technology of these systems is sophisticated, using these chargers is really easy.”
EV users need to download the EV Connect app available free online, set up an account and begin charging their vehicles. The cost is $1 per hour, with a maximum charge of $4.
“EV chargers are just one area we’ve identified as a solid investment for these grant funds, as electric vehicles are becoming more and more affordable, and therefore, more and more common,” Hofbauer said. “We also offer a Mobile Emission Reduction program, an annual lawn mower exchange program, alternative fuel vehicle program and an old vehicle buy back program.”
Work on the EV Charging Station project began in late December 2017 and was completed in April of this year.

How this article morphed into wild accusations is truly stunning. Here are a couple of facts: An indictment is NOT a conviction! Unsubstantiated accusations are meaningless! The usual suspects that take the liberty to be verbal vigilantes against politicians without any proof, are the same kind that would be deputized to string people up without due process. Of course it would be different if it were their neck! Also, I already know those people justify, and call themselves righteous. I would like to add that unsubstantiated accusations show a lack of integrity on the part of the accuser.
Eye in the Lancaster Sky says
Very well put Alexis. There were indictments against Raymond Lee Jennings, Randy Floyd, and Esmeralda Jorge, with Rex behind all of it. Nothing came of them. Rex has tried to destroy Johnathan Ervin, David Abber, David Grejeda, and now Jim Ledford. With Ledford, Rex has DUI Drew Mercy, Marv Feed Me Crist, Randy Climate Change Denier Hall, Steve I Wannabe Mayor Hoffbauer and Austin Steve is My Daddy Bishop on board. The AV would be a better place without them.
Alexis says
Now that’s funny!
Tom says
I can’t believe Ledford finally crawled out of his cave. Does he think we all forgot he got caught.
Tim Scott says
Caught? You mean the false charges against him that Wrecks’ puppet Hofbauer is always trumpeting about that have yet to go to court? It would be best if people did forget.
Facts says
This has yet to go to court, Tim, so you don’t know they’re false charges. Steve Hofbauer has nothing to do with this issue. As hard as you, along with the usual others stuck in the same mind-set, with your opinions, it doesn’t have anything to do with facts. Hofbauer hasn’t been indicted, and Ledford has, so we know that much.
Tim Scott says
It hasn’t gone to court, and shows no real signs that it will. It looks very much like the usual smoke and mirrors “case” that Wrecks throws at political rivals pretty routinely. As for Steve Hofbauer, what he has to do with the issue is that he meets regularly with Wrecks and his cronies, so the chances he “just happens” to be benefiting from their plans and isn’t in on them seem pretty unlikely.
Meanwhile, Hofbauer is the only member of the city council who responded poorly to the idea that steps should taken to protect the city from the type of absurd revenue sharing deal that Lancaster has proposed and continues to push for. I didn’t try Bishop, since he is so obviously a Wrecks plant that I didn’t want to waste the time, but I did check with Hofbauer myself. When Palmdale’s revenues get siphoned into Lancaster for distribution to Wrecks and his cronies there is not the least doubt that Hofbauer intends to be signing the agreement with a flourish…and a golden pat on the back from Wrecks.
Alexis says
Where are you getting this information, Tim? You say Palmdale revenues are getting siphoned into Lancaster for distribution to Rex Parris and his cronies, so where are the facts backing up your accusation? Otherwise this is only your opinion, and an opinion should never be enough to bring someone down. I can say I checked with Hofbauer myself, but that doesn’t hold, Tim. This is a nation of laws, not a nation of “he’s guilty because I say so.” Although this happens too often, and innocent people end up in prison. Since you want to pronounce someone guilty with zero proof, well, you’re not alone, because plenty of commenters will back you up.
Alexis says
Maybe a plea bargain, in which case it won’t go to trial.
Tim Scott says
No Alexis, I said that Lancaster proposed a revenue sharing deal to siphon Palmdale revenues into Lancaster…where they would join Lancaster revenues that are already being directed into crony pockets. That deal was rejected, under the leadership of Ledford. Immediately after that the attack on Ledford began.
The concern is that under California law a two thirds majority vote of the council could put Palmdale into Lancaster’s revenue “sharing” plan. A proposed ordinance to relieve the council of that authority was welcomed by Ledford, Carrillo, and Betancort, because the crony crew will never give up and will eventually have the votes they need to loot Palmdale. But Hofbauer does not want to have such a limitation put on the council.
Why do you think that is?
Tim Scott says
By the way, Alexis…you talk a lot about how terrible the voter turnout is, and I agree. But, at the same time, you seem to refuse to pay attention to what goes on in local politics, making your own vote seem likely to be so uninformed as to do more harm than good.
“Oh, I saw Ledford’s name in a headline about corruption, must be bad.”
“Oh, well, Hofbauer is the incumbent and i see his signs everywhere, he must be alright.”
Recipe for disaster being followed by many Palmdale residents.
Instead of demanding “proof” from me, which for the life of me since our only communication is whatever we type at each other on this comments section I have no idea how I could provide, how about getting involved? I’ve posted my proposal on the revenue sharing ordinance here plenty of times, presented it personally to the council rep for my district and the mayor, and had people from other districts present it to theirs. I’d be more than happy to have you try again with your council representative, though I suspect that at this point there’s enough pressure on him that Hofbauer would just lie to your face and claim he “supported it all along.”
But at least you would be able to get a personal sense of the man’s character. And the more people he makes the claim to the more people will take offense when he goes back on what he says…which he will, because the revenue sharing siphon is the number one priority of Wrecks and his crony crew, and believe it or not they own Hofbauer.
Alexis says
When is this going to happen?
Alexis says
Mayor Ledford is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. This should apply to all in this nation. Unfortunately this isn’t the case for so many. I am not qualified to say anything about this case with Mayor Ledford, and if I were I certainly wouldn’t bring it to the comments section.
Tim Scott says
When is what going to happen? You getting involved? You tell me.
The crony crew in Lancaster has been pushing for revenue sharing for twenty years. Fending them off is an ongoing battle that requires constant effort, from elected officials and concerned citizens as well.
I would welcome your help.
Alexis says
Keep being involved, Tim. I hope you can sift through all of the accusations, and get to the truth. As for me, well, I detest politics, and all of the gaming that goes on. I prefer to volunteer with prison reform, and helping the poor. I think Palmdale is a great city, and I hope whatever happens, it’s good for the community. I just moved out of Antelope Valley to Tehachapi to be close to family in Bakersfield, but I have many friends in both Lancaster and Palmdale, and I care deeply about both.
Alexis says
I should add that is plenty of politics going on with prison reform, and helping the poor, but some of us step away from the political machine and work on our own. That eliminates photo ops by politicians that never do anything but pose for the camera and work the room.
Beast mode says
I think this is a step in the right direction as far as removing our “carbon footprint”. Just have to work on getting the Republican party to join in before the world is destroyed.
Baldyr says
Look at the crooked theiving mayor looking all smug. He should step down immediately.
Alexis says
Just one more positive in a wonderful city!
Steve Hofbauer says
The Crooked Mayor should step down.
No to Hofbauer says
No. You should. We don’t want a Rex minion turning Palmdale into a cash cow for Lancaster.
Got it!
Alexis says
I think the fourth district is a great district, and full of diversity!
Baldyr says
How much does Ledford pay you to be his lap dog. Your hurting the community by creating a bigger cactus curtain while Steve has been trying to tear it down.
Ka-Ching says
Probably pays much less than what Rex and the Lancaster Political Machine is throwing at Hofbauer, Bishop, and Carillo. They are the best council Lancaster’s filthy money can buy.
Baldyr says
That’s funny your not calling the one who is indicted on felony corruption charges the crooked one shows how ignorant you are
Eye On Lancaster says
Indicted? You mean like Raymond Lee Jennings, Randy Floyd, and Esmeralda Jorge? All victims of Rex, just like Ervin, Grejada, Abber, and Ledford. None were charged with what Rex said.
He is the ultimate character assassin. Karma will not be kind to him.
Alexis says
@Baldyr…No one pays me for my opinions. I don’t see that I am hurting the community by saying that the fourth district is full of diversity, and has so much to offer. This is also a fact if you ever spend time in this district. I also like certain things on the east side also. There is something to offer in every district of Palmdale. Many people and the charities in this city is amazing. I’m sorry that you are so unhappy, because actually there is so much to be thankful for here.
Tim Scott says
Steve Hofbauer’s only interest in “tearing down the cactus curtain” takes the form of selling Palmdale to Wreck’s and Company so they can milk it the way they milk their Lancaster cash cow.
Van Dammit says
The Crooked Mayor should step down, but I don’t think Rex has the decency to do so. He loves his power over his pathetic Lancaster fifedom and he is hellbent on taking over Palmdale. He’s got three stooges helping him. It’s up to the people to rise up and put a stop to that.
