LANCASTER – Extra officers will be on duty in Lancaster this Wednesday, June 27, looking for violations made by drivers, bike riders and pedestrians, authorities announced.
The “Bike & Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Operation” is part of an overall effort to lower deaths and injuries, according to a news release by the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.
The news release did not specify where in Lancaster or what time the traffic enforcement operation is taking place.
The department mapped out locations where bicycle and pedestrian-related traffic crashes happened over the past three years, and extra officers will be on duty patrolling those areas, officials said.
“Special attention will be directed toward drivers speeding, making illegal turns, failing to stop for signs and signals, failing to yield to pedestrians in cross walks or any other dangerous violation. Additionally, enforcement will be taken for observed violations when pedestrians cross the street illegally or fail to yield to drivers who have the right of way. Bike riders will be stopped and citations issued when they fail to follow the same traffic laws that apply to motorists,” the news release states.
Funding for the Bike and Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Operation in Lancaster is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

I say stop look and listen from every direction, pull your head phones out of your ears drop what ever b.s. you may have in your hands because you need hands to ride. Appropriate colored clothing helps and having a bit of respect for fiberglass and steel.

Things are so bad at the Michael D. Antonovich Kangaroo Court, LASD has to run a cyclical traffic ticket revenue program, or it won’t meet its payroll.
Barry says
It’s the money. They’ve got to have the money. Period. That’s that. They’ve got to find a way to get the money, any which way they can.

Andy of Mayberry is long gone. Fully militarized under the Bush and Obama administrations, today’s law enforcement is morally bankrupt. No longer a peace officers, they are amped-up, pent-up urban combat specialists with hair triggers, itching to bait you into a police pursuit. Were officers told to confiscate assets and personal belongings, and mete out roadside corporal punishment, for every traffic infraction? No compunction whatsoever, that’s exactly what they’d do. If you manage to walk away, fleeced a few hundred in grocery money, count yourself lucky. Shoot first, ask questions later, slightest provocation, they’ll gun you down like a dog. They’re looking for the first excuse to pump a couple caps into you. These newfangled urban combat specialists aren’t gunning down criminals. They’re arbitrarily gunning down civilians, who’ve done no wrong. Survive a traffic stop, consider yourself lucky. Brave new world…

“… your license, registration, and proof of financial responsibility, ma’am! Take that registration out of the plastic sleeve; I’m only going to ask you, once! The reason I’ve pulled you over, I caught you dead-bang on RADAR, 42 is a 35! Than means, you automatically owe us US$500 bux, out of your family grocery budget! And, we have it rigged, to make your car insurance go up. So, expect a rate hike when your policy renews. Sign on the line promising to appear in court by the date below, or I’ll cuff you, frisk you, rough you up a little, throw you in jail.”
Alexis says
Driving is a privilege, not a right, Jason, Please read the article again. In the California handbook it states that when we sign the forms to acquire a drivers license we agree to be tested anytime for drugs/alcohol if an officer chooses to do so, and if we refuse, it won’t go well with us according to the DMV.
Alexis says
I meant to say “also,” at beginning of sentence about drugs/alcohol.
Lucas says
“Ah! You forgot to turn on your turn signal! That means, we get to twist your arm a little, pull you over to the side of the curb, subject you to some public humiliation, impress upon you our authority, and help ourselves to a bite sized chunk of your disposable income! We’re going to make your car insurance go up, too! Heh-heh-heeeeeeh!”
Alicia says
Law enforcement are deliberately baiting motorists into police pursuits. A form of stalking, they have a certain way of following behind motorists they intend to pull over, imperceptively escalating the traffic stop process artificially slowly, extending the process so incrementally, it baits people whom would otherwise pullover, into a police pursuit.
William says
And to think all that hassle, monetary burden can be avoided by simply doing 35,in a 35 zone!
Look out for those drivers says
Heck, around here, they do 35 in parking lots.
Pauline says
It’s all out there telling you what’s up and when.. if people have read this and know what and when and you end up getting a ticket, then that’s all on you!!! Duh!!
Stephie says
LASD, treating the little people like an opened wallet, making yet another grab for the traffic ticket revenue. How come it’s always law abiding people LASD singles out for their weekly revenue extraction cycles?
Mae says
… traffic ticket revenue, to bolster payrolls at the crony Michael D.Antonovich kangaroo court –
dumb comment by MAE says
so don’t break the law and you won’t be contributing…it’s not that hard of a concept!
CL says
seems like a common sense, right? don’t we all stand to benefit from the enforcement of traffic laws? I mean.. if it was you getting hit by a guy drinking and driving or just driving recklessly.. you’d be asking why the cops weren’t there to do something about it — obey the traffic laws and you’ll be fine.
AV Illegal says
Yeah, no kidding. When a collision happens it is all about the lazy cops who never do anything. Then they do something specific, target those bad drivers who disregard the law, and they are again bad cops who are just trying to take money from the poor to fund the courthouse.
I can let you in on a little secret…..the cops could care less about ticket revenue. They don’t get it, see it or use it. What they do get is tired from seeing people crashing into each other ruining lives without much if any consequence.
Keep up the good work guys/gals assigned to the traffic enforcement.
Thelma says
Technically, LASD doesn’t enforce traffic law. LASD arbitrarily extracts revenue under the guise of traffic enforcement.
AV Illegal says
Get a life Thelma…very technically, LASD does in fact enforce traffic laws. They technically have the traffic responsibilities for enforcement and collision investigation in all of the contracted cities in the county.
You just think it is all about fines and revenue. Many who get cited don’t pay their tickets anymore. They just wait for the next ticket amnesty to come around and get out of any fines. I always believed if you didn’t want to receive a citation, you wouldn’t drive like an idiot.
Patricia says
Illegal fireworks are as bad as it’s ever been. Our community is deluged in illegal fireworks. It is out-of-control. Our neighborhood, we’re dialing 911 several times every evening. When LASD should otherwise be cracking down on illegal fireworks, here they go again, with another utterly meaningless traffic ticket revenue cycle.
Laughing says
Did you know the fire marshall also is responsible for fireworks citations?
