PALMDALE – A man in his 60s died after he was hit by a car in Palmdale on Wednesday, authorities said.
It happened around 11:24 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, on Palmdale Boulevard near 12th Street East, according to a news release from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.
“The preliminary facts of this investigation indicate a silver 2014 Audi driven by a male in his 20s was traveling westbound on Palmdale Boulevard in the No. 2 lane. The driver of the Audi collided with a pedestrian mid-block, between 12th and 15th Street East. The pedestrian was standing near the driver’s side of his parked vehicle,” the news release states.
The pedestrian sustained major head and body trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. His identity has not yet been released pending next of kin notification, but he was Lake Hughes resident in his 60s, according to the sheriff’s news release.
The driver of the Audi, whose name was not released, did not sustain any injuries. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, officials said.
“It is not known at this time if drugs or alcohol [were] a factor,” the sheriff’s news release states. No further information on the collision was immediately available.
Anyone with information regarding this traffic collision is encouraged to call the Palmdale Sheriff Station’s Traffic Department at 661-272-2400.
UPDATE: The victim’s 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser was also hit by the Audi, a sheriff’s deputy told reporters at the scene. The Audi driver was taken to a hospital to have blood drawn, the deputy said.
UPDATE: The deceased has been identified as 65-year-old Frank Serafine, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

I knew Frank and worked helping to prepare his home he was moving too just a few weeks away here in Antelope Acres in Lancaster. For the short time i have known from the convos with Frank. I can tell you that he was a man of great integrity & moral compus that surpassed traveling in depths deeper than most men I’ve ever meet thru out this life thus far. A day before his demise he told a colleague of mine of how much he like the work i had been doing for him, it sad i never got to thank him for his observation and confidence he had in my work, in me & my skills. Talking with him daily while working for him gave me an insight of who he was and what kind of man he is, as well were he was heading in life you’llbe greatly missed R.I.P Mr. Frank Serafine.

You really can’t kill people by driving into them and not be found guilty of something like manslaughter …. or do we just call it plain and simple murder. Because if it was me or my loved one I would hope this driver gets the maximum allowed. A full investigation and trial. Unless the deceased was suicidal and intended to lose his life. This is the stuff a good investigation will discover and report. And residents need to in force to make our streets safe. Protest if this is not allowed. U must be paying attention while driving these streets. Or u could kill someone.

It was obviously am by the photograph, There was virtually no oncoming traffic as witness can verify, the 20 year old was most likely on his or her phone. Another, tragic, inexcusable manslaughter of an innocent bystander.

If there’s a witness then why is it no one knows wheater he/she was text driving. I’m so sick of people just talking out of their a$$ … It was a very bad accident and this person is so very apologetic. I pray for this person and the man that lost his life as well as both of their families. Oh and to answer your question… I was there. So if you don’t know what your talking about please shut the f*#k up. Cause in the end there’s more than one side to every story…

THANK YOU Araya Sunshine!

Just out of curiosity, how would someone who saw the collision from across the street be able to say whether the driver was texting or not? Drunk or not? You act like the only way a person can be a witness is if they were riding in the car.
Guy says
I knew the victim. He was my friend, Frank Serafine. He was probably one of the most outwardly kind and humble souls you would ever meet – always helping folks no matter who there were. This is Frank: https://variety.com/2018/film/news/frank-serafine-sound-engineer-dead-dies-1202943105/

I work for him on his home under construction and he left me moments before he died he was the mist realest and genuine man I ever met and it it’s going to take a long time for me to get over this loss of a friend and will miss him terribly

He was probably texting and swerving. i see it all the time, i’m so tired of these young adults doing this crap.
B says
It was so incredibly sad, driving home yesterday just moments after it happened and seeing the poor victim. The cops should’ve blocked the street, none of us driving past should’ve seen him like that. It was very disrespectful. REST IN PEACE
Cupcake says
Not surprised people J walk Palmdale Blvd all the time i hate driving that road people run out in front of cars all the time
Alexis says
He wasn’t jaywalking.
Tim Scott says
Apparently this guy carried his car with him when he “ran out.” From the looks of the Audi it didn’t hit an open door, just hit the parked car with the owner no doubt pressed up against it trying to get out of the way. If you do that all the time you should stay off of any roads, not just Palmdale Boulevard.
Siobhan says
He wasn’t j walking his car had broken down and he was getting out to check it when that [removed] loser ran him over. He was a good man who’s wife was waiting for him to come back and he never showed up. The cops did. This is tragic.
Reader says
Did you know him? I want to offer my condolences to his loved ones. I was a ways behind the driver but didn’t see it.
Siobhan says
Yes he was my husband’s boss. Great guy. He left the job because his phone was acting up. Got to palmdale and his car started acting up pulled over called another guy to cone help him and that was the last time anyone heard from him. His poor wife waited at the new house they were fixing up all day. When my husband left at 5 he asked her if she’d be okay and she said. Yes Frank will be back soon. 7 o’clock the cops finally show up and tell her what had happened. That poor woman i cant imagine what she’s going through
Reader says
What is the follow up on the cause? The driver had a passenger in the front seat, could’ve been the driver’s father, because of this age.
Lori says
… pedestrians always have the right-of-way, but with one exception: masters of the universe driving their luxury German sedans.
Big Lou says
In reading the article, I get that the guy in the Audi was way to close to the right, hit the victim who wa right next to his car, and the proof is he hit the mans car. I bet he was using an electronic device
Alexis says
