Woman dies after three-vehicle crash in Lancaster

LANCASTER – A female driver died Saturday after she ran a red light at a high rate of speed and caused a three-vehicle collision in Lancaster, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, on Avenue L at 5th Street West, according to a news release from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.

The woman was driving a 2016 Scion westbound on Avenue L approaching 5th Street West when she “ran the red light at a high rate of speed by driving around traffic stopped at the intersection for the light,” the news release states.

The women’s vehicle collided with a  2016 Mazda that entered the intersection from southbound 5th Street West, turning left, according to the news release.

After traveling several hundred feet, the woman’s Scion “started spinning again and crossed into the eastbound lanes of Avenue L” where it collided with another vehicle that was eastbound in the number two lane, according to the news release.

The woman was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital where she died of her injuries. Her name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification. The other two drivers were hospitalized, but an update on their condition was not immediately available.

“Speed is a factor, as is running a red light,” the news release states.

Lancaster Sheriff’s Station traffic investigators are seeking witnesses to this collision and are asking anyone with information to contact the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station at 661-948-466.

  1. Lets keep it real. They’re too many people ( female majority ) that are causing these accidents because of their cell phone use while driving. Soon they’ll be installing signal blockers in your car for those who continue to be stupid.

  2. None of us know why she ran the red light, stop judging looking in from the outside ! Her brakes could have went out ! She could’ve been having a heart attack or what felt like one at the moment, or suffering from a mental breakdown, We don’t know people say that lost heartless stuff until it’s their loved ones. And if you can get on somebody’s deceased love ones post and make rude comments about “the roads being safer now” and I truly hope you don’t call yourself a follower of Christ. That is not the love of God being shown, and you reap what you sow, so when someone does it to your loved one remember this.

  3. I’m not talking bad about the person but taking a red light like really why? I see this happen all the time going to work so many accidents I’m starting to think people have a death wish.

  4. A life was lost here period. Those of you speaking badly about her should be ashamed and pray nothing lime this ever happens to a family member of yours.

    • I’m sure this is not the first time she has done this. . I swear when I go to the Eastside it’s like a racetrack . Everyone’s in a hurry to get to the red light. I’m sorry she lost her life. But the roads are a little safer now.

  5. Why do so many young people in the AV seem oblivious to the danger of driving. Do they get any Drivers Education? Shouldn’t the new local Spectrum station report these fatalities? The only news one gets about these accidents is on the somewhat sparsely used website or from a new Cross planted at the site with candles around it.
    The Sheriff seems oblivious to this danger and many deputies look the other way and say “I didn’t see it so I can’t do anything about it” when told of aggressive or reckless driving. I’ve been told that more than once by Deputies on their lunch break. Is that how we save young (and old) lives?

    • Firs..Well Adolph if you were an educated person who gave a darn about learning the laws that govern you, you would know that a police officer cannot make a stop or arrest for an infraction that didnt take place in their presence. In other words, if the cop didnt personally witness the infraction, it’s illegal for them to take action. The only way possible would be if there was photo/video evidence that they could use to support the charge.

      Second…who are you to decide or define what is aggressive or reckless. You’re a nobody. An ignorant nobody at that…so why would anyone listen to you or your opinion?

    • I always find it hilarious when people who obviously don’t know what the constitution says try to claim protection from the constitution. How about you actually READ the first amendment before you try to name yourself after it?

      In case you are too lazy, or maybe just can’t read, the first amendment includes a law which makes it illegal for the federal government or any state government to enact a law that limits the free speech of the people. That has been interpreted, correctly, to include more local governments within the state.

      Since the AV Times is not a government, or part of the government, that law does not apply to them AT ALL. This has been established for so long I cannot imagine how anyone who even knows that there IS a constitution could be unaware of it, yet it has still been discussed right here on this page several times right here on this page. How did you miss it?

Deceased friends & family claim “medical issue ” as if that excuses deceased drivers conscious choice to intentially go around stopped traffic , proceeding at a high rate of speed through intersection- sounds like a mental issue not medical. If you ever have a medical issue, pull off the road , disengage your vehicle and use your cell phone (I know this MOM had a cell phone) Call 911 and get the medical attention you need instead of doing stupid shit that cost you your life, your children to lose their mother and cause several other innocent people critical injuries! Her poor judgement of playing EMT for her “medical issue” did not get her the help she needed to be there for her children, instead she is dead. It is hard to have sympathy for someone so reckless.

    • It’s not always possible to pull over when experiencing a medical crisis, take your negativity elsewhere, nobody wants to read it or see it. It’s just ignorant and immature.

      • I think is immature and ignorant going 90+mph and running a red light without taking in consideration the other citizens. Have you think about the victim of the other vehicle that she hit? Have you think about his family? Is he alive? Is he okay? Just because she’s having a crisis, it doesn’t mean that other people has to pay for it…

      • I guarantee all these people making negative comments are white people. The most negative people in the world but act like they are the most innocent, it’s okay for them to claim “mental illness” when they shoot at thousands of concert goers, open fire at elementary schools & high school, they are no where to be be found on post like that. But when they see someone else do something smaller than the offenses they commit they become judge and persecuter. Oh and don’t forget they hide behind the guise of religion. Because you aren’t truly a follower of Christ when you belittle others to feel better about your pathetic existence. White people are the most annoying people on the planet. Liars, murders and biggest manipulators… I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

I don’t think all blacks are uneducated, on welfare , in gangs , disrespectful, steal or rob, or are murderers… no not at all . I have a diversified family and it’s sickening to hear people think that certain things are because of one race , what about just a certain persons mental capacity? Huh? Or just their common sense alone! We all know right from wrong no matter what race or religion or ethnicity…
