LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a reward Tuesday for information leading to the killer of a local high school student, who was found shot to death on a street in Palmdale in 2016.
Supervisor Kathryn Barger recommended the $10,000 reward in the killing of 17-year-old Jaquarius “Jay” Quinn, an 11th grade student at R. Rex Parris High School.
Detectives said Quinn had dinner out with his family on Nov. 6, 2016, and returned home earlier that evening. He was found “unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso” around 8:30 p.m. on the 2300 block of Old Harold Road in Palmdale, sheriff’s officials said.
“Witnesses saw the victim lying in the roadway of the southbound lanes at the location. The witnesses stopped and called for aid,” sheriff’s officials said in 2016.
Investigators told the Los Angeles Times they didn’t know whether Quinn, who wasn’t carrying any identification, was shot at the scene or pushed out of a vehicle. He was identified when his grandmother came to the sheriff’s station the next day to report him missing.
Detectives don’t have a motive for the shooting, and Quinn, who lived with his grandmother, had no criminal history, the newspaper reported.
Barger is asking anyone with additional information on Quinn’s murder to call sheriff’s homicide Lt. Joe Mendoza at 323-890-5564 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).

Everybody know this was retaliation jay sister got diddy killed and somebody ended up killing him over his sisters wrong doings
Alexis Bell says
Even though it has been 2 years it’s a blessing that law enforcement has found a reason to continue investigation and willing to offer a reward for any information on who murdered a loving ,resepectful and innocent child like Jaquarius. Everybody who knew him and loved his life so dearly called him Jay and he is truly missed. So I pray somebody has the courage to come forward and share what they know so whoever did this to him can be dealt with for it.

Bloop says
Police thugs are just as likely to have done this as any so-called street thug….and that’s real talk.
Rumors says
I believe his family knows what happened which rumor is gangs were the culprits ( He was not in a gang) Also after this his sister went to jail and the jail system said she went crazy hung herself but rumor is She was murdered in jail..So I believe a whole bunch of cover ups..Hey but these are rumors which The police know Considering he was found near the LongHorn Pavilion Apartments which If I remember theres cameras especially at the lights..oh wait they don’t work just like security at the apartments don’t or the city states..how many times did staff change there..?.. Unfortunately another victim of unsolved crimes in The AV..

Oh Well... says
The cameras at lights are for traffic movement to detect when the signal should change. Maybe the apartments have cameras but this is something the police would have looked at long ago.
Tim Scott says
Traffic cameras don’t store footage. They provide input to the control system for the traffic light.
Red light ticket cams also don’t store footage. They take a series of still images when triggered by someone crossing their beam when the light is red.
Neither of those are going to provide the kind of information you are looking for, but that doesn’t mean they “don’t work.”
Motive Unknown says
As sad as this is, it is not all that surprising.
