Local elementary school principal charged with murder in fatal DUI crash [updated]

LANCASTER – A principal at an elementary school in Lancaster was charged Monday with one count of murder in connection with a fatal DUI-related crash in the Palmdale area.

Enterprise Elementary School Principal Mary Noel Kruppe,  35, of Pearblossom is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday, Nov. 20, in Department A01 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Antelope Valley Branch, according to a news release by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

On the night of Nov. 15, Kruppe was driving southbound on 50th Street East, north of Avenue P, when she is accused of veering left into oncoming traffic, said Deputy District Attorney Sam Abourched. This allegedly caused a head-on collision with a vehicle being driven in the opposite direction by Jessica Ordaz, 29, of Lancaster, who died of her injuries, the prosecutor added.

Kruppe faces a possible maximum sentence of 15 years to life in state prison if convicted as charged.

Prosecutors are requesting bail be set at $2 million.

The case remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Lancaster Station.

UPDATE: Arraignment for Mary Noel Kruppe was postponed to Dec. 19 in Dept. A1 of the Antelope Valley Courthouse. Kruppe was ordered to remain jailed in lieu of $2 million bail while awaiting arraignment.

UPDATED 12-19-18: Arraignment for Mary Noel Kruppe was postponed again, this time until Jan. 30, 2019.

  3. Never cared for school district employees. They should all be random drug tested. Exactly what is the reason they are not?

    • Yes, they should all get tested. But districts don’t care anyways, they ignored their employees drinking problems and bad behavior. They don’t care until it’s too late and sonething like this happens. There was bad history with this person and nothing happened until it was too late.

      • With too many teachers that are alcoholic/drug addicts, there should be random drug tests. The only reason this keeps going on is because the teachers that either drink and drive, or are heavily medicated, haven’t killed anyone yet. Then it will be too late for the victim.

  4. Continue to postpone the arraignment so families can forget about the awful crime Mary Kruppe caused will not happen. We hope the DA continues to pursue justice for the family involve. Justice will bring peace to their hearts.

    Arraignment is tomorrow. Word is, plea bargain down to DUI Manslaughter – 4 yrs, serving minimum of 3.

    I still feel for the Ordaz family, as well as the husband and two young kids Mary has impacted. I also feel terribly for Mary, but she made the decision to drive impaired and deserves whatever consequences come her way – but from what I have heard, Mary recognizes that and is accepting of it.

    And I still have not seen nothing but hateful speculation and innuendo about cheating, as well as bigotry from both sides. And what this has to do with Trump or Trump supporters is way beyond me – that one is simply moronic.

    So easy to trash people and be hateful when you’re anonymous.

          • Reality…I don’t know Mary Kruppe. I believe that Mary Kruppe will pay for killing that young woman, and she should. The rest of the hate filled, vicious comments that I have read, both here and on that other site that had nothing to do with why she is in jail, were sickening. Using social media to destroy another human being with the vilest of words, caused me and some other people to feel sorry for her. Being targeted online by anonymous people that use revenge to destroy (online vigilantes), another human being goes against all that is decent. She will pay the consequences for taking a life; the rest of what has been said about her is just plain vile, and the worst of human nature.

          • My acquaintance? I don’t know her. Bringing adultery into this is not about taking a life. Social media trolls while anonymous, destroying another human being way before a life was taken. I know many of you would be doing time if adultery were illegal. That also goes for driving while texting, or under the influence of something. Of course you haven’t taken a life yet, but maybe tomorrow.

            You do realize on that cheater website there are pictures of the two people drinking in a Jeep. So the adultery included sneaking around, drinking, driving and then going back to work inebriated and coworkers noticing and reporting.

            She and he and others mentioned have destroyed their own lives and careers. That website isn’t the first she and he were on and both had ample opportunities to change their behavior. It’s all interconnected. If you don’t want to be internet fodder or fired or divorced or kill somebody or sued or incarcerated…stop making bad choices.

        It’s clear this woman was up to no good. The guy she was messing around with was being sued for sexual harassment and she’s had multiple chances to just do the right thing.

        It’s amazing how much drama and bad things in life you can avoid simply by being a decent human. Be a faithful spouse, go to work, go home and keep your eyes at home. You don’t lose your job, your career, your license, your freedom, your reputation and ruin innocent people when you’re being a decent person.

        People that habitually mess around on their husband or wife and continually chase attention often just reap what they’ve sewn. Once you burn others, people have no empathy when it’s you in the flames.

          With no doubt, Kruppe deserves to be punished for what she did and for taking a life. But the infidelity part is completely irrelevant and nothing more than speculation.

          • Google her name and you’ll see she’s been having an affair with the principal being sued for sexual harassment. Her drinking is also mentioned long before the accident. The guy she was having an affair with has been fired for ithenharrassment. She drove drunk after meeting up with him. If people don’t want their dirty doings aired maybe they shouldn’t do them.

            If he or she acts differently, MANY lives aren’t negatively impacted. They were both caught by their spouses and employers beforehand but chose to keep on with the drinking in the desert and sneaking around. The fact people mentioned it to the district and were shut down and finally see karma come back around are justified.

  12. I am so fed up with DUI’s and I can say as a victim who was killed and brought back by a DUI, they deserve the MAX.. I had 6 months of therapy, having doubts of ever being productive in society, and depression. Mary gets zero sympathy from me. She knew she was drunk, and what about her freakin friends who let her leave the restaurant deuced. They too should be held accountable, and if the Ordaz estate does their homework, they can hopefully file a wrong death against them too! I feel so bad for the Ordaz family from what I saw on youtube, she was going through a major transformation. This hit me hard as she is the same age as my oldest child, and it’s so unfair she perished, and Kruppe is alive healthy and yet people are on this page, defending her. I challenge any of them to tell Jessica’s loved ones, why they are defending Mary.

Consequences are real – the more negative an individual SOWs the more negative situations and consequences they will continue to attract and reap. You do not have to be a believer if you choose not to, however, the more you do believe and know what He is capable of the more you will understand. My children’s father was a victim of drunk driving accident that left him paralyzed and depressed for the past 20 years. Six months of therapy is not enough to overcome such a horrendous experience. A lifetime of therapy is necessary. I’m sad that you have been victimized in this way in the past as well, Big Lou. However, I am glad that you are able to share your story. Allow God to do His work and heal you, and heal the Ordaz family. His HOLY SPIRIT is in each of us, even non-believers. I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving, and I wish the same for the Ordaz family.           Even the perpetrator here has a right to due process. None of us knows what occurred that night. It is a tragic event – and I feel the most sorry for the Ordaz family, and for the her husband and kids. Yet…even Mary’s husband has been subjected to hateful comments. But I suppose that is acceptable?

          This is a tragedy -especially for the Ordaz family and also for Kurt and the two children. But it is so easy to be hateful, vindictive, and racist when you are anonymous.

  15. There was a guy recently that killed a guy on a motorcycle who was drunk he got a plea bargain and got 4 years.

      • We are not debating that criminals come in all colors.. the problem here is that white criminals get less sentences than Hispanics and blacks. The crime that Mary Kruppe committed, she’ll get if any, a few years. Same crime committed by a minority.. life in prison… soooo yeah, Mary Kruppe a white twisted individual should get life.   16. Mary’s husband started a go fund me account to help support himself and their kids since he is a stay at home dad, he didn’t use their last name on the account. And he is asking for gift cards for Christmas from family friends.

Why do people not understand this is illegal? Reading this story makes me sick every time I see it. What if this was your own child?

      • Eastside Union hires just about anybody!!! Their principals are mediocre, some have had recent sexual lawsuits, special education teachers rarely are fully credentialed! I wouldn’t enroll children there even if they would pay me! It is a very poor run district! It does not surprise me that Mary Kruppe would be employed there!

        • Eastside USD is the worst. Everybody knew about Kruppe and Pinto.
          There was a bilingual aide named Jimmy Mora. His fiancé teaches at the same school. He was having affairs with two teachers there AND three moms AND a teacher at Cole Middle school. He’s a total HR nightmare.
          I feel horrible seeing his fiance everyday knowing what was going on. I believe Mr. Mora was asked not to come back this year. Affairs in this district are rampant and well known.

            People entrust us with their children but if we as educators are focused on cheating, sneaking, and all sorts of salaciousness, we can’t stay focused on the children. This district has some of the poorest students and some way behind for their age. They deserve better than alcoholic and teachers distracted by fooling around.
            Once this behavior is tolerated it makes the whole school toxic for staff and students alike.

            I’ve confronted Sellout Steve Hofbauer in person, but political campaigns with thousands of voters have to be conducted through media. Nature of the beast. The only local politician I haven’t met face to face, at least for a brief handshake, is Wrecks, who I have seen at several meetings. He tends to whisk away in a flurry of sycophants that I can’t be bothered pushing through.

            I’ve also confronted the dirty LASD in every way I can that doesn’t (hopefully) involve me getting shot by them. They might not be able to associate with the name, but I’d bet there are plenty who could associate what I say here as “that must be the guy who…” I met the captain of the local station and the first thing I said to the man was “I’m here to get you fired…nothing personal, your whole department.” City staff convinced me that replacing the LASD with our own police department isn’t the answer, but the captain wasn’t left in the dark about where I stand on their performance.

          • What I don’t think people know is that her, Mr. Pinto and Mr.
            Mora’s, and other teachers philandering started taking priority over the students. It’s a clear HR/sexual harassment violation and anybody complaint filed was going to somebody with skeletons in their own closet.

            If Kruppe, Pinto and the rest were handled by the district when complaints were made, perhaps the Ordaz family could have been spared this tragedy.

        Also, defending someone does not make you a drunk. In order for someone to be referred to as a drunk, you would need to drink alcoholic beverages for that. And you can’t get thrown in jail for defending someone, you have to actually commit a crime to get thrown in jail. It is so amazing how stupid and retarded some people can be.

        Bottom line lets just try to focus on what’s relevant to this case and stop bringing up irrelevant crap, because maybe less people will be “defending” her if that were to happen.

    • The point is that it is relevant because it shows that Kruppe has no character and needs to be held accountable to the maximun! An innocent life was taken!!!! Kruppe killed a yound person!!! If she is having sex and drinking alcohol in her jeep with Pinto (another Principal) from Eastside Union in the school parking lot and school officials are allowing this because it has been happening for years then in my opinion there are MANY that need to be interrogated!!!!

  23. Ok folks, let’s use our heads here. Nobody external the investigation knows the details, so stop assuming all of this consipiracy theory crap. All of the relevant information will come out soon, and only then will we be able to comprehend what really happened, and put the pieces of the puzzle together. Mary is a good person with a big heart. The crash was a sequence of events that cascaded into somebody losing their life. It is a sad situation, but calling her a murderer is completely irrational.

    • Would you think call her a murdered would be COMPLETELY IRRATIONAL if she killed your daughter, sister, cousin or friend. When she was leaving a gathering and multiple people tried to stop her from driving because they KNEW she was drunk. Your thought process is completely IRRATIONAL.

      • Well, yes. Rationally, WHO got killed really shouldn’t make any difference. Call her a KILLER, which she is. The exact legal term under which she will eventually be convicted is up to the judicial system, and it isn’t really likely to be “murderer.”

        Now, as to these people who knew she was drunk and “tried to stop her,” I’d be really interested in any real information about that. If there is an actual “multiple people tried to stop her” in play that begs the question of how one drunk woman manged to evade this mob.

    • No one knows the details until it goes to court. Mary had drinks and made the decision to drive. Her decision! She killed someone that’s the bottom line.

  24. My heart is so HEAVY for Jessica who’s life was taken away far too soon! Jessica was robbed of her life and future, she didn’t live to celebrate another milestone her 30th birthday this is such a tragedy. I feel so sad for Mary Kruppe as well, she was my daughter’s principal at Cole Middle School her life is over as well. I think I will go to her arraignment this morning just to see for myself…I know it true but I am still in shock!

Destroyed a woman by having an affair with a married man…. then killed someone’s daughter drinking her sins away.. someone posted pictures all over the internet prior to accident of her and another principal in the back of her Jeep having sex in the back of her Jeep. The married man still a principal… google her name photos everywhere. I pray for the family whom lost their daughter…and feel sad for humanity so much evil and vindictive behavior in the world.

  28. It’s nothing new about DUIs and the consequences behind them. Obviously she has NO morals, work ethics or integrity.

    Shes educated, and NO excuse. With so many ways to go home, UBER, LYFT calling a taxi, a friend etc… WHAT WOULD SHE TELL AN EMPLOYEE?

    It’s time the court sets precidence over matters like this and see it through. NO MORE slapping the hands, and REDUCE convictions. Lives have been affected on both sides, all for what? To have a good time and wake up with a hang over? In this case murder and facing potential prison? Is all this worth it? She will lose so much, then again, her victim(s) lost more.

    At least this individual has her life still. For whatever that’s now worth. I hope the DA goes for it all against her

      • There is an implied higher standard, not a double standard. We would hope that teachers, principals, and all educators hold themselves to a level of integrity and practice that would make them good role models. Obviously that is often not the case, and definitely not the case here. It’s a very sad and painful time for both families. The consequences of some “stupid mistakes” are permanent. A life was lost and no amount of apologies will lessen the grief they feel.

      • Reality, driving drunk and killing someone is a stupid mistake?!?!?!! Not everyone makes stupid mistakes. Mary Kruppe and all those idiots like her making ‘stupid mistakes’ should get life in prison.

    • I think it implies that the prosecutor wants her to plead to Gross Vehicular Manslaughter while intoxicated without any fuss…which if she is smart she will do since at trial that is probably a slam dunk anyway.

      • Prior to this someone slandered her name all over the internet…. followed her took photos her ….. did hat crimes….emotional mental well being must have been horrid she was being stalked by the married mans wife…. should have never slept with a married man to begin with but the wife made a point to destroy and deface her….this all stemmed from the hate crimes. No excuses but she needs to file a lawsuit herself against the ones whom degraded her for the affair. All over the internet nothing bad against the man who cheated on his wife nothing…. the drinking and driving she deserves prison. We all know the rules no matter how emotional we get other lives matter. Prayers for the beautiful angel’s family whom grieve and lost their beloved. You do not deserve the pain your faced with. You should sue the stalker of the principle as well whom posted all the photos of her affair this could be traced to it. Set a new rule those whom terrorize others until they snap should be sued for the foundation of what occurred

      • She was an absolute idiot, I feel no pity for her. Sounds like she had a lot of problems, and had potential to be a better role model if she straightened her act up and did the right thing. Sad….

        • I know nothing of the allegations regarding her having affair with Mr. Pinto but I do know that she was NOT an effective administrator, who wasn’t honest nor fair with staff. Mr. Pinto was a vindictive, bully who was even more dishonest than Ms. Kruppe and made the work environment at Cole Middle School intolerable. I can see why she was an alcoholic fiend so she could possibly mute any awareness of the havoc that she and her monstrous cohort Mr. Pinto wreaked upon her fellow employee’s careers and lives.
