3 suspects arrested for 2017 murder of teen in Rosamond

ROSAMOND – Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the 2017 gang murder of a teen in Rosamond, authorities announced.

Matthew Morrissette, 29, Anthony Bonczek and Arthur Hernandez, both 21, are accused of killing 17-year-old Kawanza Hilt, who was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds Dec. 12, 2017, on the 3400 block of 15th Street West in Rosamond. He was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Over the past year, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit, as well as the Mojave Substation Detective [Unit], continuously and tirelessly investigated the crime, obtaining additional evidence along the way. In early December of 2018, the case was filed with the court and arrest warrants were issued,” states a news release from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the news release, on Dec. 5, 2018, Bonczek was arrested by homicide detectives in Azusa and Hernandez was arrested by detectives assigned to the Mojave and Rosamond substations. Morrissette was already in the Kern County Jail for unrelated charges and was charged with Hilt’s murder. All three suspects are in custody at the Kern County Jail and awaiting trial.

They are all charged with murder and participating in a criminal street gang, according to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office.

    All you give out is fake news….You put a halo over the 17 year old who was killed December 2017.. BUT back when it happened you made him out to be as bad as the shooters.I agree all you are is a wanna be who sits on his fat ass on computer all day eating a ham sandwich listening to a police scanner…….If you are so concerned about your scummy little town of Rosamond get off the computer & clean your drug & gang infected filthy town up..You can’t even leave a restaurant without a bum asking for a handout & they use the parking lots as a restroom…Talk to the Mayor “if you have one” & clean up your gutter stinking town.. Shut your yappy mouth & be a doer Mr.Dog….

  2. We need to remember that Mr. Kawanza was taken for a reason and we don’t know exactly what that reason is. He could have owed drug money. He could have been caught talking about that gang. He could be a witness to gang activity. He could have insulted those gangsters. etc.

You post sympathy posts all of a sudden but last year when he was murdered you swore it was an inside job claiming you had text messages to support such accusations and you also circled that the innocent 17 year old had a revolving pistol in his hand and pointed it at the vehicle you also stated he was known for trying to run game on local gang members when it came to dealing drugs! Now your so innocent? You also stated their was a female. Well man everything you’ve shared so far has been wrong! Which is probably why you were never accepted to be an officer or reporter.     • Storage. The camera is fine, but you have to limit the quality to hold down the amount of information you have to store. If you run eight cameras at high resolution and high frame rate they will fill a terrabyte drive every day.
