LANCASTER – All available Public Works crews will be repairing potholes in Lancaster this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (Jan. 22, 23 & 24), according to an announcement by the city of Lancaster.
City crews will canvas Lancaster streets in a grid pattern, with all essential repair materials in tow. As potholes are discovered, they will be fixed.
“The recent rain has created increased areas of concern regarding safe travel throughout our city, and city crews intend to tackle as much as they can in a concentrated period of time to make significant headway in resolving many of the pothole issues,” stated Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “Everyone’s patience and understanding is greatly appreciated as these crews work tirelessly to continue to improve our local streets.”
The city of Lancaster receives and responds to pothole notifications on an ongoing basis via the city’s Inform Lancaster mobile app, via the city’s website. For more information, view the video below.
RF says
So exactly which roads did these crews work? I never saw any of them at work & the streets I drive on are still like an MX track… Nothing was done on Ave K.
Alexis says
I will make the only positive comment about Lancaster. I drive to Lancaster a couple of times a month, and have noticed a lot of new stores. I also noticed some streets being widened, and it really looked nice. Very rarely do I shop at the mall, because as a grateful poor person, I shop at thrift stores, Walmart, Target, Ross, etc. Also I noticed a Burlington store that used to be the old Walmart on Valley Central Way.
Esteban says
One single dealership at the Lancaster Auto Mall outperforms the entire Palmdale Auto Mall in sales.
That, in itself, is interesting!
Tim Scott says
The desperation you are showing is hilarious.
The dealers that represent the three biggest brands are in Lancaster…are you really so stupid that you think being in Lancaster is what makes them ‘perform’? Or are you just so in need of SOMETHING good to say about Rexville that you are throwing this nonsense and hoping it sticks?
Scamcaster says
Really? Where do you get those numbers? Which dealer? I find that hard to believe. It’s believable that the Lancaster Auto Mall has more sales, especially since Rex ok’d giving Lou Gonzalez over a half a million bucks to move there giving the Lancaster Auto Mall Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Honda, and Chrysler/Dodge. Rex and Lancaster got sued over it and lost but it didn’t matter. The fix was in and the good old boys made big bucks.
Alexis says
All of this over one comment. What difference does it make, anyway. There are people that shop in both cities, and go to places to eat in both cities.
Marisol says
I hope Bill isn’t going to start stalking commenters again. Anyone that would challenge his ideas could expect him to pounce on every one of their comments, in a very creepy way. Don’t be bothered by him.
William says
You are bothered Marisol. Good!
Now try to write something about the article in question. I did.
Ron says
The difference Alexis is that Lancaster is controlled by a few powerful men who have used their political advantage for decades to enrich themselves to the detriment of we the people. If you have ever wondered why there is little rhyme or reason to how Lancaster is zoned and developed, all you need to do is check to see who owned, sold, or managed the land. Names like Gilley, Parris, Visco, Runner, Vose, Crist, Shepos, and others will appear time and time again. They benefit from inside information and full control. It creates great wealth for them but an uneven, poorly planned city for the rest of us.
Alexis says
Ron…I used to live in Lancaster for many years, and I love this city. I didn’t vote for the politicians that are in Lancaster, and I choose to not let these men dominate my every thought. I enjoy shopping and eating in Lancaster, and that’s my choice. My choices don’t affect anyone else, and those that choose to insult me because I enjoy shopping in Lancaster, well, that’s their problem. I don’t shop at the mall, or eat at any of the chain restaurants located at the mall. I stay away from both Lancaster Blvd, and Palmdale Blvd. Vote them out if you don’t want them as your politicians. 11.2% voter turnout is pitiful.
QH Holdover says
They have become millionaires and are now looking to plunder Palmdale
Anonymous says
It must be wonderful to live in a state of naive bliss. How can you vote out a group that refuses voting districts which would introduce new candidates, controls the voting date and counting of votes, controls the money, and threatens your livelihood if you dare go against them? Be happy you got out of Lancaster Alexis. Many of us used to love it but is has become increasingly corrupt, unsafe, and unsightly. Many of us cannot leave because of our livelihoods. You spend decades building up something that can provide for your family and it can be ruined if they decide to ruin you. Enjoy yourself.
Alexis says
Well, vote them out! 11.2% voter turnout is pitiful. Lancaster residents only have themselves to blame. Now there are those that don’t like Palmdale because the voters don’t know what they’re doing either. I’m going to shop where I want, whether in Palmdale, Lancaster, or elsewhere, without thinking about the horrible politicians. I am grateful that I have money to buy food, clothes, and have a roof. Oh yes, and a car with no payments.
William says
Alexis.
You wrote:
“All of this over one comment.” in a reply which is exactly what you do.
\If you say it’s OK to comment as often as we want, then why did you say that? Don’t others get to discuss whatever too?
Alexis says
I’m flawed, William. I am deeply flawed. I’m working on my flaws. You are right.
Be kind says
William…It would be nice of you to allow others to discuss whatever they like, without you insulting them by name-calling, because they think differently than you. Try to do what you think Alexis should do. Then you won’t be a hypocrite.
MST3K says
Move on William. Why don’t you analyze and dissect your own comments. Hypocrite.
Tim Scott says
I’m all for people discussing whatever they like. I think intervention is appropriate when they present their opinions as facts. Especially when the opinion they are presenting has previously been widely demonstrated to be not a fact, and in reality the opposite of fact.
For example, if someone says “I feel safer because I keep a gun in the house” that’s a statement about their own feelings and can’t be disputed. When they say “guns in the house make me safer” that is a statement of fact, and the fact being stated is proven by statistics to be false and a correction is in order.
Almost invariably, the people who whine about William “not letting them share their own opinions” have been presenting their opinions as if they were facts.
William says
MST3K
So, now you are name calling. You never post anything other than the kind of stuff you just did.
But, that’s you.
Alexis says
My original comment saying I love Lancaster, took on a life of its own. I still love Lancaster, potholes and all. I love Palmdale too!
William says
Alexis.
“Love is never having to say potholes.”
Alexis says
LOL, you’re right, William.
Alexis says
You sure know how to get a reaction, Esteban. Funny.
Esteban says
It’s funny how quick their panties all get twisted just by stating one fact. It’s almost like a cult where you can’t notice anything or question anything.
Raymundo says
You still have yet to provide any data for your statement. Do you work for Team Rex where facts take a back seat to fantasy?
Edsel Ford says
rex proudly proclaimed a couple years ago that 70% of the business at the Antelope Valley Mall comes from Lancaster. That’s how great the shopping is in that low rent town.
Low rent? Maybe that’s why those dealerships are in Lancaster as land is cheaper and cheaper for a reason. The Lancaster Auto Mall is in a low rent location in a low rent city. That’s not unusual as that happens in other places.
So, new homeowners buy houses in Lancaster…..because a car dealership does well there. It’s best if you happen to own that particular brand of automobile though or what’s the point?
Funny. When I bought a Chrysler in 2004, COSTCO in Lancaster recommended the Chrysler dealer in Santa Clarita and that’s where I bought it. Wonder why?
East Lancaster Resident says
I live in Lancaster. I see lots of homeless people living in tents near the old Walmart on Valley Central Way. I get hit up for money by pan handlers when I go to the BLVD to use the library. I see streets that have bike lanes with no bikes that are painted black with some cheap crap. I see empty stores on Avenue L and 20th West. In East Lancaster, I see police cars and helicopters daily. I go to the Mall to go shopping without asking me for money. I give money to charities not under the control of Rex. The minute I can get out of Lancaster I will.
Potlhole says
Potholes are the least of Lancaster’s problems.
Used 2 Cruise says
You got that right Pothole. 99.99999 percent of Lancaster’s problems are a result of the dodos who meet twice a month on Tuesday’s on Fern Street. Lancaster used to be preeminent in the AV. Now it is a laughing stock led by a whack job.
go figure says
Elected by the people, that like that whack job.
JPB says
No one is arguing that the voters of Lancaster are not the brightest bulbs in the candelabra.
go figure says
According to you and others, the voters in Palmdale aren’t the brightest bulbs in the candelabra either. You go right ahead and think you’re so smart.
Tim Scott says
Well, the evidence says…
By the way, how long do you think it will be before “cooperating with Lancaster to further reduce crime rates” is revealed to mean “sharing costs to expand the contract for the eye in the sky and pay back the support that Hofbauer got from the same sources that pay for Wrecks’ campaigns”?
I’d like to believe the people of Palmdale are smart enough to find a way to dodge that bullet, but Hofbauer has a rubber stamp council at this point and people generally don’t pay a lot of attention, so excuse my pessimism.
East Palmdale says
Palmdale voters will regret what they did soon. After they get sucked into a bad electricity deal, an insane tax sharing agreement, a $10 million dollar waste in LEAPS, and anything else Rex wants, they may wake up. Mayor Hofbauer has no spine and is more than happy to please his Lancaster masters.
QH Holdover says
I see the Mayor of Lancaster playing the nice guy routine again. Lets see how the new Mayor of Palmdale jumps to please Rex. He does owe him a lot for the idea to smear the former Mayor of Palmdale who wouldn’t bow down to Lancaster. Now I see the Palmdale City Council jumping when Rex snaps his fingers and when I say jump its not easy for these portly elected officials. They quit shaving and they are all out of shape (FAT). O poor Palmdale!
William says
rex fancies ‘hisself’ a grand deal maker like trump. Somehow the deals he’s made have left Lancaster in the dust in this valley. Palmdale had little 30 years ago when I moved here and came from behind to be the premier city in the Antelope Valley.
How many decades will it take to fill all those half-empty shopping centers around Lancaster where the anchor supermarket are empty? Plus, there’s no ‘there’ there in Lancaster not even the blvd.
If you live in Lancaster, what do you and your friends and neighbors have to say about the self-serving mayor and council members and how poorly the city has been run for years? It’s been hard to get why Lancaster voters or actually non-voters let rex & co. get away with their lousy city government.
But, since Palmdale elected Hofbauer, Bishop and Carrillo, I need to ask the same question here. Do these guys actually have fans in Palmdale or was it a case of the voters not paying attention?
Frankie says
Rex, Marv, Hof, Bishop. The Four Horses A$$eS of the AV Apocolypse!
