This just gets better and better. And, yet, it was all predictable a couple years ago.

Another day, another step in the right direction to rid ourselves of Communist Chinese infiltration.
The United States is blacklisting a group of Chinese tech companies that develop facial recognition and other artificial intelligence technology that the U.S. says is being used to repress China’s Muslim minority groups.
A move Monday by the U.S. Commerce Department puts the companies on a so-called Entity List for acting contrary to American foreign policy interests.
The blacklist effectively bars U.S. firms from selling technology to the Chinese companies without government approval.
With Communist Chinese espionage a threat to national security, you have to wonder what kind of person would invited the Communist Chinese into the Antelope Valley so they could easily set up espionage on our nation’s most sensitive defense programs.
It is the same kind of person who suggests that people break the law and carry concealed weapons to shoot homeless if they rob you, and who would use $10 million dollars in taxpayer money to fun a spy plane owned by his political contributor.
Doktari says
Newsflash… While discussing the recent shootings in Lancaster where homeless people were shot by an alleged gang member, Wrecks reflected on his recent trip. ‘I learned a lot in Africa. The predators will go to where the prey are plentiful.’
The homeless are not animals, Wrecks. They are human beings. Some are addicts. Some are poor. Some have made poor choices. You can relate, can’t you?
Do you have any empathy at all in that dark, dark soul?
No Commies says
Looks like the FBI is warning universities about Chinese espionage. This after the recent warning that Chinese tech giant Huawei was a security threat to the US and its allies.
A quote from today’s Associated Press article by Eric Tucker:
“Existentially, we look at China as our greatest threat from an intelligence perspective, and they succeeded significantly in the last decade from stealing our best and brightest technology,” said William Evanina, the U.S. government’s chief counterintelligence official.
The Antelope Valley is no place for any affiliation with the Communist Chinese government. We have the nation’s most sensitive and secret defense programs being built and tested here, and the Communist Chinese would like nothing more than to set up espionage shop right here in the AV. Why anyone would risk national security for a campaign donation is beyond me.
William says
Hi, Everyone
I was away on holiday since Friday. I thought Trumpist#1 was taking over for me as I’ve been training him in how it’s done.
But, who knows. Comments I posted Thursday aren’t up yet. Bring back the Pnny Express. It was faster.
Allegory of the cave says
How what’s done? All there is by you is name-calling, insults, immature self absorbed complaining, and endless opinions that have nothing to do with truth.
William says
Yeah, right. Miss New Username.
Emma says
William…There are plenty of new usernames everyday, so what’s your point? Maybe when you use a new username, you shouldn’t use the word kvetch.
William says
Emma supported Hofbauer’s dirty campaign tactics. That’s all that needs to be said. Well, for now.
Emma says
William…Your assumption is definitely not a fact, now grow up and calm down. I did not vote for Mayor Hofbauer (wrong assumption). I did vote for James Ledford. Hofbauer is mayor now, and I respect the voters choice, so I am giving Mayor Hofbauer a chance. Your entire comment is not even close to the truth.
Emma says
I voted for James Ledford, but I will respect the voters choice and give Mayor Hofbauer a chance. Nice try, now grow up.
William says
Well, Emma
You said you voted for Mayor Ledford.
Did you also vote for Steve Hofbauer and, if so, what had you do that given the long list of things that Mayor Ledford has accomplished for Palmdale over 26 years, through recessions and intense and ugly opposition from Rex Parris & Co.?
If you did vote for Hofbauer, what had you do that? Realize that your reply might be received with some skepticism. I’m not confident that you are simply a concerned citizen expressing your opinions here as I am. It has been suggested by others and myself that “Emma” might be Hofbauer “hisself” or one of his or Rex’s minions whose username I don’t recall commenting here until others and I started criticizing Hofbauer.
Anyway, I guess you’ll keep replying to my comments as before and that’s fine. We’ll keep the discussion of Hofbauer and his questionable relationship with Rex Parris alive till the next election. I know I will.
And, if Hofbauer and other Rex plants on the Palmdale City Council do anything that benefits Lancaster at Palmdale’s expense or against staff recommendations as they did with the CCA, I will be here reporting that loudly and clearly.
That has always been my main concern that Rex is interfering with Palmdale’s governance and independence by supporting a mayor and council members that will do his bidding while you and other Palmdale citizens are giving Hofbauer a “chance”. We’ll see.
If you have a problem with my above concerns, that says more about you than me.
William says
Emma. Can you not read? You have repeatedly misstated what I wrote. By telling us to give Hofbauer a “chance” since he’s our mayor you are indirectly supporting and are fine with his dirty campaign tactics against Mayor Ledford. You haven’t criticized Hofbauer for that have you? It’s called “enabling” just like what Trump supporters do.
I asked if you voted for Hofbauer and if so…… You wrote that I said you voted for him.
When it comes to growing up, get yourself an education in English while you’re at it. After telling me to “grow up” don’t give that William’s comments are nasty or name calling nonsense.
Now, if Hofbauer does do something that is obviously shown to be fealty to Rex Parris and not supposition, can we count on you to come here and call him on it as you so readily do with me?
Are you not aware that Hofbauer was supported by Parris in the last election? I guess that doesn’t concern you but it does me and it does concern me that it doesn’t concern you if so.
Now, read my comment carefully as you tend to make up stuff in your replies. By now I don’t trust you much.
William says
Dearest Allegory of the cave or is it Emma?
Here’s how it’s done so you know. Read my exchanges with Emma below.
She says my comments are nasty and whatnot then tells me to “Grow up.” doing the same thing she says I do.
Then, she says she supported Mayor Ledford personally and didn’t brag publicly about it like me while bragging publicly about supporting Mayor Ledford personally. Project much. She though she one-upped there but I have supported him publicly, personally and have contributed to his campaigns and his legal fund.
But, keep it up Emma. I want to keep the corrupt Hofbauer discussion alive till the next election. It worked for him so I’m sure you’d agree that it’s OK for me to do so as well. Right, Emma?
Not to worry, Emma. If you don’t show I’ll keep the discussion alive anyway. You win either way.
Trumpist#1 says
Do you have a hatemail?
William says
Where have you been? Your absence is noted.
And, what have you done with Alexis? It’s funny that Emma sounds just like Alexis while Alexis is away.
Emma says
A democrat believes in the rule of the people, so whether you like it or not, the people decided to vote for Mayor Hofbauer. You can bring out the name-calling, insults, and accusations that this small group delights in, and it won’t change a thing. A lot of people are giving him a chance.
William says
So, Emma
We who criticize Hofbauer must be quiet unlike he was during the campaign implying Mayor Ledford was corrupt. Mayor Ledford was elected too or didn’t you know that? Did you and Nadia and others give Mayor Ledford a “chance” to have his case brought to trial? I don’t think so. Or had you folks already convicted him.
He has had his case delayed over and over as, apparently, THERE’S NO THERE THERE. Mayor Ledford isn’t asking for delays. He is being held up to postpone a not-guilty verdict far into the future. Just like Hofbauer and his Eye on Palmdale “convicted” Mayor Ledford over a year ago, I’m saying he’s “NOT GUILTY!” now.
If you know so much, Emma, tell us “Why the delays?” and I don’t mean that fool Tom Delay.
Like I like to say to you and other like-minded people “NO PASS!”
You can nag us but we won’t sit still. Apparently you were fine with Hofbauer’s dirty campaign tactics and support from Rex Parris. We are working to correct that next election…..starting a while ago.
So, there, Emma. Keep your comments coming and I’ll reply to them as I have done before. Too bad if you don’t like it
Emma says
Your comments don’t bother me, so you can expend all the energy you want on being reactionary. Look up the definition. The people voted for Mayor Hofbauer, and all the comments that come from you, and all the new usernames that accompany you can keep on coming. He’s the mayor, and all your hissy fits aren’t going to change that. We will see what happens next election.
William says
Look, Emma
We are in campaign season year-round. So, consider my comments on Hofbauer in that context.
He’s a dirty campaigner.
He’s owned by Rex Parris.
And, you are a hypocrite. Where were you when Mayor Ledford was being convicted without a trial? Yeah, not here defending him.
Emma says
Oh William…You call me a hypocrite while at the same time lobbing false accusations at me. This is why nothing on here can be counted as the truth. I voted for James Ledford, and I supported him while he was being tried in the court of public opinion. Not on here where everything is distorted, but in person. A Democrat believes in the rule of the people, so on that note, I will respect the voters choice and give Hofbauer a chance. Post all the dirty stuff you want; maybe one day you’ll understand, or maybe not.
Emma says
William…There are close to 160,000 people in Palmdale, and you play the big shot by thinking you and the others on here are the only ones defending Jim Ledford. There are a lot of people in Palmdale that defended Jim; we just don’t brag about it here all the time like you.
Petra says
Business Insider (left leaning), reports the ten most miserable cities in California: Bell Gardens, Compton, El Monte, Hemet, Huntington Park, Lancaster, Lynwood, Montebello, Palmdale, and San Bernardino. Judging from all your incessant complaints about the A.V. (Lancaster and Palmdale), this is definitely true.
East Lancaster says
Lancaster has its issues. Panhandling, homelessness, lack of continuity, morally bankrupt leadership to list a few. But it is not more miserable than places like Oakland, Yuma, Pacoima, Richmond, Sylmar, and more than half the places I’ve driven through or stopped at. It is the most miserable place in the AV for sure.
Petra says
Partisan hatred is driving this nation to its destruction. I can see it from the name-calling, and complete lack of respectful dialog on a local level (A.V. Times commenters), all the way up to the national level, with elected politicians engaging in the same behavior. Both political parties are such a disgrace that the rest of the world is shaking their heads at our embarrassing, shameful behavior. You’re a part of what has devolved into chaos, and you don’t even know it. It’s called self-deception, and you will go down in flames explaining why you’re right when no one is right.
William says
Oh, Petra
One side accepts science and objective reality while the other side makes it up as they go along.
One side plays by the rules while the other side makes it up as they go along and still expects the other side to play by the rules.
So, there is an asymmetry to the political landscape and it’s not strictly “Both sides do it.” That’s called “false equivalency”. Is that clear now? Remember that.
Trump 2020*2 says
Ok, this impeachment probe is ridiculous. Just because I want someone out there to destroy my enemies doesn’t mean I’m a bad guy! This is harassment, pure and simple!
Look, let’s say, for example, that I want Trumpist #1 to be totally destroyed so he has no chance of winning the local segregated school beauty contest (He could win $10, and I don’t want him to get that financial advantage!). So, what is so wrong in asking a Japanese Ninja Assassin to investigate his “dealings” with his “wife”? It’s not like this is doing ME any harm! I mean, it’s all about me, after all. Those sweet, sweet $10 are as good as mine.
This is a witch hunt, pure and simple, and we’re running out of witches.
Go Trump 2020! #MAGA #KAGA #KAKA #POOPOO
Is parking enforcement in Palmdale getting kickbacks from the beer delivery company says
I like to know how much Palmdale parking enforcement is making off the view companies by not giving out tickets for the beer companies blocking the handicap at the Mobil gas station at 4 Points this is continuous thing everyday day you make a phone call no one shows up
I take it they are getting kickbacks from the beer company not to give out tickets because they’re handicapped people cannot park at this Mobil gas station
I have pictures of all the beer trucks parked in the handicap I can post them at any time if I can find the right place
Steve says
The problem is with the MOBIL Station.. they are allowing this behavior, take it up with the owners and KTLA 5 News .. and if you’re serious, park your car right in front of the Mobil Entrance DOOR, EVERY DAY you see this obstruction.

Bill of Writes says
Hey Trump supporters (AKA American Patriots):
Imagine the meltdown of socialist, do-nothing Democrats if we win both houses and POTUS in 2020. Watching them meltdown, pull their hair out and wring their hands with recriminations and blame will be worth the wait. Hang in there!
MAGA/KAG
William says
You’re kidding, Bill of Writes. You gotta be. About a dozen Republicans aren’t running for re-election in Congress. They’re leaving the sinking Trumptanic. Trump is in impeachment proceedings.
Giuliani loses his s*** over and over on Fox News. Fox News is fighting with itself about whether to hang with Trump as he goes down, down, down some more.
Speaking of losing it, Trump tweets a couple dozen times a morning like a crazy person.
And, you think that the Republicans are playing a winning hand for 2020. Well, they’ve got a few jokers and they are WILD.
You’re kidding, right? I mean “write”.
Just how are you going to rationalize a big GOP loss next year? If Putin was smart, he’d interfere to help the Democrats just to watch Trump, Giuliani, Fox News, and Kellyanne “alternative facts lady” Conway try to explain that away.
Thank for the laughs.
EvilHamsterFire says
No, no…you don’t seem to understand. Logic and politics don’t matter. We could realistically put a Republican evil hamster that breaths fire in the white house, watch the little evil monster burn down everything in sight, and laugh our heads off because we owned the libs!!
BWAHAHAHA!!! EAT IT SOCIALIST LIBS!!!! EAT HAMSTER FIRE!!!! HAHAHA!!! *SNORT*
DC says
I see you are proving that you couldn’t care less about our country and constitution. Your commentary is to put down a group of concerned, caring citizens instead. Not a patriot but a mean, nasty cultist. Good response William.
William says
@DC
What are you talking about? Your generic non-substantive post was exactly that.
You must be new to everything.
It’s odd that you call me a “cultist” when what is before you is the “Cult of Trump”. Those who betray him are gone or will be gone. The rest of the republicans in Congress are afraid of Dear Cult Leader. “…mean, nasty…” describes Trump. Forget his dozens of daily tweets and listen to his rally speeches for “mean and nasty”. And, do so immediately.
Haven’t you paid any attention……………………..at all……………………..ever?
Allegory of the cave says
I am convinced there are absolutely no mature, clear thinking adults that post here. I read all of the comments and all I see are the same commenters wasting time glorifying themselves.

Great line in today’s BG column, telling it like it on on Wreck’s BLVD of Broken Dreams………..
The whispers and the rumors that this could be the last Streets of Lancaster Grand Prix powered by Toyota of Lancaster were flying as fast and loud as the Go-Karts this weekend.
Some Lancaster BLVD merchants think it hurts their business.
And what, the other 51 weekends every year when the BLVD is Los Angeles County’s largest open-air homeless shelter DON’T?
LA County’s largest open-air homeless shelter. Understatement of the year.
Being_honest says
Lots of local car clubs and other organizations hold their events on the Blvd and it is great. It draws people down there to the shops and restaurants. The MOAH museum also draws a lot of people.
The car show that was held the weekend of Sept. 14-15 drew a large crowd from all over Southern California.
The problem with street races is that they just don’t make much sense. I know three people that had birthdays the last week in September and they wanted to eat on the Blvd, but couldn’t, because of the street races. So they went to Black Angus or the AV Mall instead. That sucks if you’re a restauranteur down there.
A better venue for street races would be a place like Apollo Park or the Fairgrounds.
William says
The races were an effort to promote the blvd or so it seems. There must be something a smart mayor and council could do to make the blvd succeed.
The problem is they’ve got the mayor and council they have. The blvd just reflects that for all to see.
The band played on but the Titanic still sank.
To those who have said “Give Hofbauer a chance.” Look at what happened to Lancaster when they gave Rex & Co. a chance. And another chance. And, another chance. Rex “owns” Hofbauer so we’ll see what playing a “game of chance” does for Palmdale.
There. 2 birds with 1 comment. You’re welcome.
Let’s leave chance to Vegas folks. Better odds.
Former BLVDian says
Lots of things don’t make sense on the BLVD. Bex was ballyhooed by Ron Smith as putting BJ’s out of business. Nope. The Artists Lofts failed to become artists lofts. The bird sounds did little to lower crime but seem to have attracted panhandlers. Barones, a fixture in the AV, couldn’t get out of there any faster than they did. Skateboarders are as bothersome as the beggars. There is no continuity. A brewery next to an architecture office, and a pharmacy next to a restaurants. Businesses vanish all the time. Brittany’s, Vintage Styles Now, Hot Rod Dogz, Laemmle, Giannini’s, Chicago Dogs, Maribels, etc.
It was a disaster from the start. Terrible traffic flow, located next to all the social services, hard to get to, no symmetry. There are many exceptional downtowns in cities across the country. The BLVD is not one of them.
William says
Y’know those folks that post comments here calling the High Rail Project “The Train to Nowhere.”. I wonder what their average education level is. They need to get their pack mules loaded and head back to the Texas Panhandle and get out of the way.
Just saw a program on China which is going to overtake us as a super economy. Beside High Speed Rail, they have done away with money; that is cash and credit cards. They pay using their phones. Pickpockets are going “unemployed” because no one carries cash and people are always holding on to their phones.
But, the average American who couldn’t and wouldn’t go for the metric system a few decades ago, will be left behind in the coming years. Well, they’ll probably die off before then taking their opioids because they ‘hurt’. Some are the folks that voted for Trump and wanted to “Bring back coal.”
A Democratic president that follows Trump after next year will be very busy undoing the damage he has cost us in his quest to go BACKWARD.
Bill of Writes says
Get real! Do you think GOP will just let it slide. Next Dem POTUS will face fierce opposition, hate, resistance and dirty tricks because you perpetuated it and destroyed the civil society we used to have where we were all Americans first.
William says
Have you read Trump’s Tweets? They’re dirty and hateful. But, even better, some can be used as evidence against him.
Then, there are his rallies where he enjoys chants of “Lock her up.” and “Send them back.” Real civil and unifying, right Writes?
Americans first. No. Trump always puts himself first even when it hurts Americans such as farmers harmed and/or put out of business due to his ill-advised Trump Tariffs which are actually a tax on Americans who buy goods from China.
You don’t seem to know much about things you write about”Writes”. You should go by “Bill of Wrongs” which describes you and Trump.
Tim Scott says
Ummm…that already happened with the last Dem POTUS. You think the GOP was going to just be better next time if only the Dems let D’ump run amok?

Pathetic.

Rex and Marvin donated $25K to get Hofbauer elected. They paid DUI Drew about $25K to mastermind the election through a PAC called Eye on Palmdale. It’s all there for you to see if you look.

Not to mention that his wife, Kellyanne of the “alternative facts” has to be one of the most wretched critters on God’s earth.
She was a pollster and I think it was Manafort that sent poll results to the Russians. I wonder how deeply she is involved in the the scandal. She needs to go to prison just for being her lying self.

The meglomaniac strikes again. No, not The Donald. Our local meglomaniac. The one who loves to see his mug on billboards. Now he’s bragging about some greenie award he got. Tell that to the good people of Antelope Acres who are seeing their community destroyed by acres of solar farm and the residual and deadly effects of Valley Fever.
I wonder if Rex flew in his private fossil fuel powered plane to get his so called ‘award’.
You can’t save the environment by destroying it. But you sure can make a lot of money in the process.
SunshineKills says
OMG, I know. Solar power is the greatest con in human history. Have they not heard of the cancer this ‘sunshine’ causes? Have you noticed that everyone that has ever been touched by this ‘sunlight’ is either dead or dying? Or converting things to Oxygen? OXYGEN! Then we have to spend hundreds of dollars in anti-oxidants, like kale!! KALE!!

Democrats have their panties in a bunch AGAIN, lol. As usual, it’s a “nothing burger” (thanks Lindsey). Mark my words: This will backfire and bite their a$$es (please, please). Or as Trump says: “We’ll see what happens”.
In the meantime, the Dems are doing nothing constructive for our country due to terminal Trump Derangement Syndrome. They won’t legislate. They just spew blind, irrational hatred and jealousy because they don’t have the power to ruin our country.
Tim Scott says
Actually the house has passed a lot of legislation…which of course is being held up in the senate. McConnell won’t let anything come to the floor because it is all popular with the public and he doesn’t want GOP senators to have to go on record voting against it. You should really keep up with current events if you are going to comment.
William says
Lindsey Graham sure flipped. He called Trump a f****** idiot and now he’s kissing his nether regions.

Lindsey doesn’t want to get on Trump’s bad side or Trump will make fun of his, uh, ambiguous gender as do late night comedians.
So, Graham sells out the country because he is such a big sissy and Trump would say so.

Eye on Hofbauer says
Mayor Jim Ledford’s trial date has been delayed again. I’ve always suspected that the real purpose of those allegations were to remove him from office and cause him financial harm. That’s the way Rex and his cohorts operate.
Why the delays? If he is acquitted of all charges we need to go after Hofbauer for his dirty campaign convicting Mayor Ledford of crimes and corruption before there was a trial.
That’s what Hofbauer’s campaign was all about. He is as rotten as Rex Parris.
Vic says
Rex Parris was and is behind the entire thing. He is in the business of destroying lives. Just ask Raymond Lee Jennings, Randy Floyd, Johnathan Ervin, Esmeralda Jorge, David Grajeda, and all the others who have had their businesses and lives threatened or hurt by him and his operatives.
Soon and very soon he will be revealed for the rogue he is and it will be a great day for the entire Antelope Valley.
Richard Foy says
Warford must be at the courthouse watching the proceedings to know so much about the case or being kept up by Rex himself. They are birds of a feather.
William says
Warford, Parris, Hofbauer, Mercy, Crist, and the whole lot of them will have lots of ‘splainin’ to do when this is over. They ain’t going to like the outcome.
William says
I’m not THE William that wrote that above comment but I could have.

Those were the GOOD OL’ DAYS.
Trump elected with help from Russia and hypocritical evangelicals gives us, as Alexis wrote, “…a sad situation for America”.
Roughly 2 times as many recessions during Republican administrations than under Democrats.
Thanks, Alexis, for bottom lining it.
Bill of Writes says
Democracy is a messy, nasty business, isn’t it? But a lot better than anything else. Just ask the poor b@$+ards in socialist countries.
Alexis says
I’m not a Republican, and I’m not a Democrat, but thanks for the rant. You attach too much importance on a simple sentence, and read way too much into it. I don’t get involved actively in politics like you, and I’m good with that. I said “what a sad situation for America,” because both parties are tearing this country apart, and that is my observation. Just take a look at all the divisiveness that goes on with people like you (Democrats), and people that are (Republicans). Disgusting tribal mentality that goes all the way to the top.
Alexis says
Also, William, I think it is wrong for so called evangelicals to try to interfere in the political process, whether so called evangelicals are Democrats or Republicans. You know who they are, so it isn’t just the Republican evangelicals, but Al Sharpton and others.
Aero says

“An unexamined life is not worth living.” -Me
One only has to read the comments on this site to understand that. The Antelope Valley has over half a million people.
Some people are living here happy and satisfied for the most part. Life’s a b**** and then you die but they make it work for themselves.
Others complain about this and that and threaten to move or have moved away. They will invariably take their complaints with them. Different place. Same complaints.
Some people have moved to Tehachapi and yet still complain about stuff here in the Antelope Valley. Let it go. But, you can’t.
There is crime and traffic most everywhere. If you think it’s all around you because you’re in the AV, it’s YOU.
If every person you partner up with is a jerk, it’s YOU.
You can be sure that there are people in the worst part of town that are happier than Donald Trump. How can that be? He has money and Secret Service protection that you don’t have. And, he has a wife that was a model but now we aren’t sure what she is. But, anyway he is a wretched human being and that’s being generous.
You can bet that Mayor Jim Ledford, despite losing an election and being accused under questionable circumstances is a happier, more well-adjusted human being than Rex Parris of the over a billion served (sorry McDonald’s) er, billion in settlements plastered on billboards. Or, even Steve Hofbauer who is the new mayor.
Take your pick, being happy or money and power. Most big lotto winners are broke within a few years yet people who voted for Trump think they’ll get rich like the students at Trump ‘university’ thought. The lotto winners went broke and Trump voters are still not rich. What gives? See the above quote. They’ve spent their teeny tax cut and will now want another.

Too bad we can’t impeach Wrecks. He’ll never resign. Meglomaniacs don’t do resigning well.
Trumpist#1 says
Of all the bozos in the Democratic nominating clown show, I like Tulsi Gabbard and Marianne Williamson best. I would never vote for them in the general, but they are much more interesting and unique than the other crazy commie socialists.
A guest on Tucker Carlson forgot Marianne Williamson’s name and referred to her as “the crazy lady who sells crystals”.
William says
Do you enjoy watching the quizzical, stupid, perplexed and befuddled look on Tucker’s face on the split screen when the guest is talking?
He has the look of a Labrador trying to understand what you’re telling him.
They shoulda kept the bowtie and tossed Tucker away somewhere but nooooooooooooo.
He got bounced from CNN to MSNBC and landed at the bottom called Fox News where the truth goes to die.
Trumpist#1 says
I didn’t notice because I have a quizzical, stupid, perplexed and befuddled look on my face too.
William says
You’re too kind.
Trumpist#1 says
I’d say the Democrats are grasping at straws with impeachment (except they banned straws).
William says
I can’t wait to see how Trump gets out of this with his Sharpie.
You knew he has just been asking to get impeached like a kid asking for a spanking.
Nancy is gonna spank him good. He liked it when Stormy spanked him.
Trumpist#1 says
He’s teflon. FIVE (5) (11111) (V) more years !!
He did like it from Stormy though. He used to appear on Howard Stern and I hope those tapes are lost.
William says
Did you watch his stream of unconscious speech today of his Greatest Hits?
The Old Geezer says
Join the Geezer’s Party and DON’T change the world. We can pollute all we want and you snowflake millennials have to wallow in it. I’m running a dirty diesel 24/7/365 to expedite the end of the world because if you are the future, we’d be better off without it. Uneducated, disrespectful, uncultured, soft, spoiled, and entitled. If you had to face adversity (or serve the country) you’d soil your little boy pants.
I perpetuate (look it up) micro-aggressions and invade your “safe spaces” just to amuse myself and humiliate whiney little pu$$!es like you. We built this country and it’s more and greater than your generation deserves. No doubt you’ll screw up 240 years of greatness because “you want what you want now, and mommy always gave it to me”.
And thanks for working so hard to fund our Medicare and Social Security. We couldn’t bask and blaze in the sunshine doing whatever we want everyday without your extra effort and tax money, suckers. Hope you like getting up early.
The Geezers strike back!
Plato says
I’m a geezer, and a disabled vet that has lived in Palmdale since the 70’s. I have also voted for James Ledford since 1992, and all through his twenty five years of being mayor. He put his heart into this city, and all that is here we can thank him for. The nonsense that is posted on here is stunning, and reading these comments that come from seniors, obviously haven’t gained wisdom to live as an example in thought, word, and deed, is definitely eye opening. I don’t care to be a bitter old geezer like you, because I see plenty of young people doing good things. There are plenty of young people fighting for our country, sacrificing their lives for you to use free speech to put them down.
Ye Old Geezer says
But not even 1% of snowflake millennials serve our country. Yes, there are young’uns with traditional values, but I think 90%+ couldn’t hold a candle to our generation. Most are still sitting on the couch in mommy’s basement, and are barely literate.
Thanks for your service. I’m not bitter, just truthful.
Plato says
Your opinion has nothing to do with truth. If this is your perspective, then I would say that the parents are responsible for teaching the children that are now millennials, the habits you think they have acquired. I’m sure if you are a senior citizen that has raised children, you have considered yourself exempt from your scathing opinion of others.
Plato says
Millennials are better educated (high %), and more racially and ethnically diverse. I think you have a problem with their high percentage of Democratic leanings, judging from the words you use describing them. Typical right wing parroting.
Ye Old Geezer says
“Your opinion has nothing to do with truth”.
Typical argument that self-assured, ignorant, simpleminded people that don’t have the stones, wit or knowledge to really debate the facts always fall back on when they can’t hang.
You need a checkup from the neck up.
Trumpist#1 says
Wow, you might have just dodged a proverbial bullet. When William finds out you support Mayor Ledford, you might weasel out of the consequences of his wrath.
Not mine, just his. Fututus et mori in igni.
William says
Who are you referring to Trumpist#1, Playdough?
I love when people are backed up against the wall, they post their personal profile to shield themselves whether they’re vets or Christians or whatever.
Their words can’t stand on their own.
Trumpist#1 says
Playdough ???? LMAO. Much wittier than DeFlato. You the man!!!
Alexis says
Funny thing is, no one is backed up against a wall. He told you what he thought about you, just like you tell people what you think about them. Jut my opinion, but you’ve had plenty of stuff to say about me, as well as me about you, and I’m never backed up against a wall, and I know your not. He’s a Veteran, I’m a Christian. You say you’re an Atheist. You have a personal profile also, so you saying “Their words can’t stand on their own,” is a false argument. You can use your fancy words to dance on this, now.
William says
Oh, yeah Alexis. Well, I’m a Holocaust survivor.
See how that works? Now, you can’t go after me. I can say whatever I want.
That’s what you and Plato have done and I just took it up a level to illustrate that if you can get that.
And, no I’m not.
Lily says
Plato…Maybe Ledford can run again. I would vote for him.
William says
Aren’t you impressed with Playdough’s bio, Trumpist#1?
Me too. (brickbat alert)
Playdough says he doesn’t care to be a bitter old geezer. Look at his opening posts and see for yourself what a bitter old geezer he is.
.
What is the point of his being here using up valuable bandwidth?
Persona non grata says
Where are Playdough and TravisB, the world wants to know (thanks Adm. Nimitz)?
Haven’t had the pleasure of their brilliant intellect and charm lately, or am I missing something as usual?
Alexis says
I am thankful for another day, comforted to know there are so many selfless people that go out on a daily basis to help the thousands of homeless, and needy in California, and all over the United States.
William says
Are you one of them or just an observer? We are impressed with your comfort knowing others are helping the needy.
Alexis says
I’m definitely thankful I can be one of them. Just giving back what was given to me, love in action. Thank you for asking.
Trumpist#1 says
Think of the public service you contribute just by acting as a zookeeper here.
William says
Huh, Trumpist#1. What kind of zookeeper would that be? I haven’t been fed those slabs of raw meat in days. Grrr. (as I pace back and forth in my cage)
At least at the San Francisco Zoo they would throw in a couple stupid teenagers for a treat. At the LA Zoo, even the polar bears get some stupid teenagers.
Trumpist#1 says
And fortunately, we have a huge surplus of ignorant, semi-literate teens and millennials to feed them. Maybe we van export some to zoos world-wide to help alleviate the trade deficit.
You keep coming up with these great ideas. The Donner Party should draft you for POTUS (or governor, supervisor, mayor, code compliance officer or dog catcher). You have my vote.
Plato says
There are two commenters (W & T), that also qualify as stupid, ignorant, and semi-literate. At least teenagers can grow out of their stupidity, what’s your excuse? Two stupid commenters that have nothing better to do than be stupid and feed off each other’s stupidity. I doubt the animals at the zoo like grizzled old meat that comes from stupid people from the A.V.
Better looking half of W&T commenters says
Stercorem pro cerebro habes, Plato. Socrates and Aristotle always said you’re a jealous loathsome troglodyte with the intellect of a tardigrade.
William says
Oh, Plato
The voices in your head are running loose again and your tongue is loose at both ends.
To wrap it up for you Plato, I quote Andrew Sullivan speaking of you and your ilk.
“a dumb person’s idea of a smart person.” He said that about Newt Gingrich and I’m positive that he is your idea of a smart person making you what was said in the quote. Deny all you want.
There. Meanwhile, the only thing that counts here is that I’m smarter than you as your reply clearly illustrated for all to see. Your reply was childish, not clever, not smart and sadly repetitious signifying nothing. You must be very proud.
Travis B. says
I agree Plato; these two geezers still haven’t progressed past their semi-illiterate, ignorant, stupid teenage mind-sets. They don’t know that they don’t know. You’re still alive so there’s still hope for you. Maybe the teenagers will look at you and your ilk, and realize they don’t have to end up like you, in the winter of their lives.
Travis B. says
All you have to do is read their daily childish comments to understand they have nothing intelligent to submit. Stroking each others ego’s.
Plato says
Don’t you realize Bill, that the more inept you are, the smarter you think you are? Going on nine plus years telling people how smart you are, hmmmm. Keep up the inane comments, geezers.
Alexis says
“Geezers,” I like that. “Old Geezers club.”
Trumpist#1 says
Plato’s initial comment had the word “stupid” or “stupidity” in every sentence. Twice in one sentence. Gee Deflato, are you trying to prove my point that you are ignorant and semi-literate?
I didn’t say you guys were stupid, but if the shoe fits……..
Do you know the difference between ignorant (you) and stupid (also you)? Always nice interacting with you cause you’re “easy pickings”, LOL
Trumpist#1 says
And Travis B: You’re right. I admit it.
We need you here to enthrall us with your brilliance, dazzle us with your towering intellect, and charm us with you eloquent, enchanting contributions.
The world awaits your consequential response.
William says
Plato and Travis B. are prime examples of inarticulate and ignorant people. They write at a 5th grade level, have no vocabulary other than “stupid” and will likely stay that way.
You can count on it.
They are unable to comprehend satire and sarcasm and absolutely cannot hold 2 opposing thoughts in their heads at the same time………….a mark of a mature mind. They don’t have mature minds. At best one can hold 1 thought and the other another thought but that’s about it.
If they want to continue, they’ll have to come up with new usernames or suffer the consequences. Their comments reveal low IQs and they are proud of it.
Your turns nimrods*.

I’ve lasted 9 years according to Alexis while fools such as you too come and go with their tails tucked firmly in their behinds. And I’m not joking.
Trumpist#1 says
Hey DeFlato and Travis B:
It’s your lucky day you execrable young troglodytes. They flushed my latest post. It was some of my best work and it would have made you go running and crying to mommy.
I gotta have the record for posts being squashed (cause I’m unreasonably obnoxious, I know).
William says
Oh, Sandra, you wrote that I should be doing the following>
“Hook up with a group to feed the homeless in Palmdale, or volunteer at the hospital, or spend a couple of days a week at S.A.V.E.S. etc.,”
I asked you to tell us what you’re doing along those lines. Still waiting.
You lied about what I have written so you might want to be honest in your reply.
Tsar Bomba says
Who is the most popular guy on the nude beach?
The one who can carry 2 cups of coffee and a dozen donuts.
We might as well make this a fun site instead of debating car accidents and crimes where no one was a witness but knows all about how it happened.
William says
Alexis says she helps the suffering. I’m not sure if she means she helps people who are suffering or helps cause it.
I know if I were suffering I wouldn’t want here within a mile of me. From reading her comments for years, I get the sense that her helping is all about her helping. No thanks. She can pat her back somewhere else.
Trumpist#1 says
Anyone going to Area 51 to “see them aliens?” If so, stop by here first and I’ll sell you my Yugo. Sometimes it’s fun to be silly, but some of them are serious (and they vote). Anyway, we have plenty of our own aliens in the AV.
Tsar Bomba says
Trump’s economy is so wonderfully fantastic that he wants the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates to 0%. That’s “zero”.
However, it was only cut 1/4% which upset him, the poor baby, due to slowing global growth and Trump’s Trade Wars which are really a Trump Tax on Americans who buy stuff.. Who knew that he would be such an inept incompetent? Most of us did. At least 3 million more of us.
The good news is that Trump’s people will be paying about $800-$,1000 more for goods which will probably wipe out their meager tax cut of 2017. But, you know that, Trump fans.
Trumpist#1 says
I won’t be paying more. I already own every item sold in Harbor Freight.
Seriously, I only saved about $300 from Trump’s tax reduction. Crumbs.
Tsar Bomba says
Don’t worry though, Trumpist#1, as Trump will be promising you another tax “cut” next year before the election like he did last fall. Whatever happened to that one?
“Promises. Promises” was a movie with Jayne Mansfield. That was much more enjoyable than the promises, promise that Trump promises.
Trumpist#1 says
Politicians making unfulfilled promises??? I’m shocked. Shocked I say! (Claude Rains in Casablanca). I’m still waiting for Mexico to pay for the wall.
Ahh yes…. Jayne Mansfield. Pity about that gruesome end for such a seductive woman. But she didn’t make her money using her head, did she?
Tsar Bomba says
There’s a fun video of her at a Golden Globes award show back in the late 50s. And, speaking of Reagan, he was the head guy back then introducing Mansfield and Mickey Rooney to present. Well, when Mickey faced her his head was at chest level drawing laughs.
But, it got better when she walked down the stairs to her seat, head held high as well as everything else and they popped out of the top of her dress as she bounced down each step.
Then, the camera went back to Reagan grinning while everyone was howling.
Castle Bravo says
When they were nose-to-nose his toes were in it. When they were toes-to-toes his nose was in it.
Castle Bravo says
Speaking of Reagan, apparently actress Tuesday Weld claims she was seduced by Reagan when she was just 15. Wow, and he skated unscathed. I still think of him as one of the greatest POTUS ever. He broke the Soviet Union.
Tsar Bomba says
Saw an old rerun of Carson and Rodney Dangerfield told a story of being in the bathroom at the Las Vegas MGM Grand.
Shaquille O’Neal came in quickly to the urinal next to him and says “Whew. I just made it.”.
Rodney “Can you make me one too in white?”
Castle Bravo says
Loved Rodney’s humor. Cop almost gave me a parking ticket outside his club in Manhattan back in the day, but after schmoozing him with Rodney jokes, he let me slide. I used a lot of Rodney’s lines on my kids.
Tsar Bomba says
Rodney was probably the best stand up comic ever. Every joke was good. He just fired them off one after the another. Some comics add a lot of filler but not Rodney. He ditched the ones that didn’t work and all we got were the best ones.
“My wife greeted me at the front door last night wearing a negligee and holding a glass of champagne. She was coming home.”
“I told my son that someday he’ll have kids of his own to deal with. His son said “So will you.””
His family must have been really good sports but he brought home the bacon.
Tsar Bomba says
Sorry Castle. The Soviet Union was already broken. Reagan broke the middle class here.
But, he didn’t do it by “hisself”. He had much help from the GOP and the 1% who couldn’t be satisfied with a million dollar salary and a big tax cut. They needed to be billionaires while keeping their worker’s wages low.
The French had it right on May 5, 1789. They gave us the Statue of Liberty. If only they had given us the guillotine too. For display purposes only.

It’s fortunate to have Youtube to keep enjoying Rodney. (Apologies for butchering his great humor).
finally says
Major Democratic donor Ed Buck finally taken off the streets. It should have happened years ago.
Trumpist#1 says
I agree. I would bet he’s out on bail immediately and skates in the end due to high-dollar defense team and political donations. What a despicable, decadent, perverted monster disguised as a sheep in a rainbow bow tie.
Our CA judicial system is rotten. Then again, every organ of government here is rotten. But the weather and topography is glorious.
Alexis says
I hope Ed Buck is placed where he can’t hurt anyone ever again.
Trumpist#1 says
Good move going to Kern County. Much better government services and justice system than LA, from what I understand.
You have a good sense of humor: Guy goes for a checkup. Doc says he has 6 months to live. He said “doc, what should I do?” Doc said “marry a Jewish girl and move to Bakersfield….it’ll be the longest 6 months of your life”.
Regards (don’t be mad, I’m mentally deficient and can’t be held accountable for my stupidity).
Alexis says
Too funny, Trumpist#1! I’m a widow, and probably sent him to the grave, and just going to Bakersfield for a few hours is like a year out of my life. I like Tehachapi.
Alexis says
I really like Ben Shapiro. Just my opinion, which means nothing. I’m in the right place to have an opinion.
Trumpist#1 says
LOL, you’re OK kid. Shana kup. Regards and much respect.
William says
“Kern County’s most recent survey of its homeless population revealed a 50 percent increase over last year’s numbers, the Kern County Homeless Collaborative reported Tuesday.” Bakersfield.com
Gee, Trumpist#1, how did you miss that?
There was more to the article. Well, I suspect Alexis is a couple hundred dollars from being homeless. If she lived in Los Angeles she would likely be unable to afford a place and would be out on the street herself.
Now, why is that? Is that California’s fault? Please explain.
Trumpist#1 says
Paragraph 1: Good research, Didn’t know that. Homeless must be everywhere.
Paragraph 2: I miss most everything. I hardly read the articles here, lol. BTW, where TF am I ????
Paragraph 3: Uncalled for and mean spirited. I’m not above doing that myself but lets turn over a new leaf and try to be nice (at least for awhile until we can’t stand it anymore, lol)
PITA
Alexis says
I know I don’t blame California, It doesn’t have the ability to mess itself up. It’s the arrogant politicians in this state that don’t know or care what they’re doing; but then again the voters put them in place to ruin beautiful California. I am doing just fine William, but I do care deeply for those in need that are suffering. You’re right, William, there is no way I can afford to live in L.A., which is fine with me, cause I’m content right where I am. I’m thankful for a roof, a car with no payments, hot and cold running water, and food to eat. I also have a little left over to share.
William says
If you say so Alexis it must true.
Trumpist#1 says
I’d rather live in Tehachapi than LA any day just for the quality of life, let alone finances.
Only problem is it’s another hour to LAX and it’s still in CA. 8 point earthquake in 1952 (?).
William says
We love Mayor Hofbauer. He is the best mayor money can buy. Sincerely, Rex, Marv, Drew, Raj, Ken, and Angela
Eye on Hofbauer says
I checked around and it seems that the Sprouts project on Rancho Vista Boulevard was started a couple years ago and Hofbauer had nothing to do with getting it going.
The council just approved the zoning a few months ago and now he wants to take credit for it. Well, that sounds like something he would do after running a dirty campaign. I’m just surprised that he didn’t find a way to have Sprouts locate in Rexville instead of Palmdale.
Alexis says
I’m sorry that you are unhappy with Mayor Hofbauer. I don’t live in Palmdale anymore but I have family and friends that do, and they as well as I, am happy to see this project coming to Palmdale. I know if the people of Palmdale are not happy with what Hofbauer, or the other politicians are doing, they can vote them out in the next election. I’m glad to see that most people are willing to give him a chance.
Eye on Hofbauer says
You missed the point, Alexis. The point is Hofbauer takes credit for something he didn’t do.
Now that that is clear, what else has he accomplished that your family is happy with? He’s going through Palmdale’s rainy day money for whatever his pet projects are. They gave him a chance and he looks like he’s blowing it.
Are they happy with the coming power agreement with Lancaster or will they opt out provided they even know about it?
Some Palmdale residents aren’t as infatuated with Hofbauer as your family is and we get to say so here on Readers Speak Out.
I will assert that people who aren’t satisfied with Hofbauer have just as much a right to say so here as SOMEONE WHO DOESN’T LIVE HERE SUCH AS YOU.
So, there’s that. We just want to point out how Hofbauer operates come the next election. You got a problem with that?
And, if you do, so what?
Alexis says
Thank you for your opinion. Boy, you sure twisted my comment to justify your anger. I even read your CAPS! You can say anything you want, and no, I didn’t miss your point. My comment was about the Sprouts project, and how happy we are about it. I can post my happiness and my families happiness, even though I no longer live in Palmdale. Your the one that has an anger problem, and I definitely respect the voters decision. I will also respect the voters decision come next election. Bye, bye, now.
Eye on Hofbauer says
The Sprouts project began during Mayor Jim Ledford’s term in office and Hofbauer had nothing to do with it. Yet, he wants to take credit after the fact. And, Emma and Nadia want to give him credit for it under the guise of “giving him a chance”. Bull
He ran a sleazy campaign against Mayor Ledford and it worked on your family, didn’t it? Then, he wants credit for something he didn’t do which also worked on your family.
Tha project is a great idea like many of the things Mayor Ledford did for Palmdale. I never criticized the project. So, let’s acknowledge him for it. I dare you to do it.
As for anger management, Miss Alexis. look in the mirror. Aren’t you the one who wants to recall Rex? How “unangry” of you. Stew in that for a while.
William says
Alexis commnts on everything everyday every way yet when I dared her to acknowledge Mayor Jim Ledford for the Sprouts project that was begun over 2 years ago while he was mayor……crickets.
I keep a 20 lb. bag of salt to take with any of her comments. A grain just won’t do.
Fat Leader says
A new leader will emerge to represent our great City Palmdale. Too many people from Lancaster are telling our Council how to think and Marvin Christ keeps them all in line. “Good ol Boys” are back in charge after 30 years in South Valley, for now. IT’S ABOUT TO CHANGE
Eye on Hofbauer says
We have to keep a close eye on Hofbauer if he dares to try some stunt that benefits Rex while hurting Palmdale such as they did with the CCA power agreement against the recommendation of the staff report. What had them do that…..Hofbauer and the Rex’s minions on the council?
Why did they go against the staff recommendation?
They are running through the rainy day surplus to get some pet projects done to win re-election. That’s like Trump stealing military money to build his fantasy wall. Hofbauer has to go next November. Right Emma, Nadia and Sandra. We gave him a chance like you wanted. Now we need to be rid of him.
EG says
The hoax shooting of a sheriff’s deputy was an embarrassment. The mayor of Lancaster made things worse by claiming that the apartment complex where the deputy said the gunfire came from is dangerous — not because a shooter was supposedly in the building, but because formerly homeless people with mental health conditions live there.
This claim is as baseless as the concocted shooting.
Research shows that having a mental health issue does not make a person dangerous. In fact, people with serious mental health conditions commit a tiny fraction—as little as three percent—of all violent acts. They are much more likely to be victims of violent acts than to commit them.
Far from being a public safety hazard, the apartment complex provides an affordable, permanent, and service-rich home to people with mental illness. It gives people who are homeless a haven from the dangers of the streets, where they are at risk of victimization.
In other words, the apartment complex is a public health and safety intervention that mitigates homelessness and helps keeps the community safe.
Yet, even as the investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department quickly revealed that the deputy had fabricated the shooting, Mayor R. Rex Parris doubled down on his claim that the complex’s residents are dangerous, going so far as to recommend that the city build a barrier to shield the sheriff’s station from the adjacent apartment building. He remained unrepentant during a recent city council meeting when community members demanded an apology.
It’s not unlike President Trump maniacally insisting, long after it was shown to be untrue, that Alabama was in Hurricane Dorian’s path.
Parris’ demonization of the innocent apartment residents is only the latest instance in a string of false and hateful comments he has made about Lancaster’s most economically vulnerable community members. Responding to an uptick in the 2019 homeless count, he told people to arm themselves. He has repeatedly stated that unhoused people are not welcome in Lancaster, calling them “public health risks.” He advocated giving them one-way tickets out of town.
People experiencing homelessness describe a pattern of harassment and exclusion by the city that matches the mayor’s words. For example, city workers have pushed homeless community members into remote desert areas where they are miles from water sources and subject to triple-digit heat. One man who lives in a broken-down RV with his pregnant wife said that officials told him to relocate just outside of city limits. “Now we are three miles from town, and we don’t have a working car,” he noted. “I’m worried about my wife and two elderly people who live out here.”
Enough already. The mayor needs to stop peddling in crude, baseless stereotypes. He should apologize to the public for spreading misinformation about people with mental health conditions and make a direct apology to the apartment complex residents he insulted with his irresponsible claims. If he really cares about public health and safety, he should commit city funding to develop more affordable housing to end homelessness, so that every Lancaster resident has a safe place to call home. Moving forward, he should get his facts straight before he speaks and treat all community members with the dignity and respect they deserve.
And if the Mayor can’t meet the basic standards of civility and decency that we expect of our elected officials, perhaps it is he who should leave town.

Wake up to who you called races says
Does anyone ever get so tired of being called a racist.
You know they call white people racist
They called black people racist but the biggest racists are the Hispanics I’ve been in the family for over 30 years and they are the most racist people I ever met in my life they are disgusting
Tim Scott says
Well, no. It very rarely happens to me. I’m not surprised it happens to you a lot though. In fact, I’d guess it happens to you ALL THE TIME.
Pro tip: If you don’t like being called a racist, stop acting like one.
William says
Yup, Trump is a racist and so are those that support him. They are “racist adjacent” but still racist and that includes loads and loads of white people. He brought them out of the “closet” so to speak. Do you support Trump?
The Census Bureau defines “Hispanic or Latino” as “a person of Cuban, Mexican, Puerto Rican, South or Central American or other Spanish culture or origin regardless of race.”
racism
1: a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
So, wake up to who you call races (sp?), now that you’ve been educated, GFY. I’m guessing most people think they are superior to you, even most household pets as well. Have you ever had a dog sniff you and then make a face and rub his nose with his front paws? They know.
Trumpist#1 says
Hey, I’m halfway out of the closet. And when my dog sniffs me, he lifts his leg on my shoe, then keels over unconscious. Shows you what you know.

Facts R Stubborn says
Palmdale, Lancaster: Miles away but worlds apart
It’s interesting to learn what some people collect and keep track of.
Some collect rocks, some collect dolls or cars or stamps and some collect data.
One of our subscribers and frequent letters to the editor contributor is one of the latter. He collects crime data, to be exact.
He keeps handwritten charts of each crime reported in the Antelope Valley Police blotter, published daily in the Antelope Valley Press. After six months or so, he brings his findings in to the office, so we, too, can keep track.
Recently, he brought in data from Jan. 1 to July 31, 2019. The information was quite interesting. According to his calculations, the following crimes occurred:
1,199 assaults in Lancaster, 612 in Palmdale;
334 burglaries in Lancaster, 221 in Palmdale;
232 robberies in Lancaster, 118 in Palmdale;
225 thefts from vehicles in Lancaster, 224 in Palmdale;
596 thefts in Lancaster, 432 in Palmdale;
288 vehicle thefts in Lancaster, 215 in Palmdale;
30 rapes in Lancaster, 12 in Palmdale;
25 arsons in Lancaster, 7 in Palmdale; and
6 murders in Lancaster, 2 in Palmdale.
Palmdale and Lancaster are just a few miles apart, but in looking at these statistics, they might as well be worlds apart. Lancaster clearly has more crime than its counterpart, but that’s something folks seem to already know. Clearly, our data collector noticed this, too, and began keeping track.
What makes Lancaster more prone to crime than Palmdale? That’s a question we’re very curious about, but don’t have the answer to.
Some point to the homeless population in Lancaster, as contributing to the crime rate, but it’s not just them. It would be interesting to find out how many homeless were involved in violent crimes such as murder, rape or assault.
The city has a problem that needs to be fixed. Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris, in a TV interview, a few months ago, said it was his job to protect the residents of Lancaster. He made the comment when referring to homeless people, who might commit burglaries or thefts. He suggested that residents arm themselves and shoot the homeless, if necessary.
That’s not going to solve anything, will it? It’ll just add to our frequent reader’s data collection.
Shouldn’t he be more concerned with coming up with a plan to reduce violent crime — and crime, in general — in his city? The police can only do so much with the resources and personnel they have. In fact, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is short-staffed in Palmdale and Lancaster, so having deputies in every area of each city at all times is highly unlikely.
What can be done to reduce crime in the Antelope Valley? We’d like to hear from our readers in the form of letters to the editor. Let us know what you think can be done and whether you agree with the data.
Trumpist#1 says
Great relevant editorial. According to Wikipedia, both cities’ populations are similar in numbers. Density is greater in Lancaster, but not quite in proportion to these crime stats. Density might relate to ratio of apartments to single family homes. City leadership is considered better in Palmdale but I think demographics should be factored in to reconcile the discrepancies. I think Palmdale has more immigrants, and Lancaster has more people from South Central.
And before the politically correct (and ignorant) starts screaming at me, let me do it for you: RACIST, RACIST, RACIST. No, JUST FACTS.
Alexis says
There’s a video of Snoop Dogg talking about all the gangs that moved to Lancaster from L.A. The rent is cheaper, and they can raise their kids easier. Snoop said many different gangs moved to Lancaster. The video was in 2018.
East Palmdale says
Lancaster is run by morons, with the king of all morons Rex at the helm. For decades they have been more concerned about lining their pockets than the welfare of their residents. Race has nothing to do with it. Palmdale has long been more concerned about its people. Jim Ledford was a great mayor who is under investigation thanks to Rex and his attack dog DUI Drew. Steve Hofbauer can be a great mayor if he cuts ties with Rex and Marv.
Yes it was a great editorial.
T.K.B. says
Facts R Stubborn~I think it is even worse than what those facts say. When the sun goes down the BLVD is no place to be. East Lancaster is sketchy. Lancaster can barely get anyone to work in the sheriff’s department because its so bad. How can you do your job when you have a crazed mayor and a bully vice mayor telling you how to do your job?

Wrecks was on his game last night. Lie after lie after lie after lie. Deflect, deflect, deflect. When confronted about his statement telling people to carry guns illegally without permits and shoot the homeless if they rob you, he deflected and said it would be ok to shoot the vice mayor if he broke in your house to rob you. That wasn’t the topic. It was carrying guns illegally without a permit. You don’t need a carry permit to have a gun in your house.
He never apologized for blaming the mentally ill at MHA for shooting a Lancaster deputy. Not a shot was fired. Instead, Wrecks tried to deflect about the hungry children. He repeated the lie that Los Angeles was dumping all their homeless in Lancaster. If Wrecks would do more than bulldoze the encampments, he would learn that the majority of the homeless in Lancaster are from Lancaster.
Marvin blamed residents for voting down the so called homeless proposal that Wrecks and Company pushed. Anyone who read the fine print knew that it was just a ploy to get money for law enforcement to arrest the homeless.
One speaker eloquently called out Wrecks on his “it’s insanity” to put the MHA building next to the Sheriff’s statement by reading Wrecks’ own words from his press release.
In the end, Lancaster still is ruled by a meglomanic who lies and assassinates the characters of those who oppose his evil and idiotic rule. Lancaster voters are to blame.
Trumpist#1 says
How could voters elect a proverbial “ambulance chaser” PI attorney like him in the first place? It’s not like they’re known for their high integrity and competence.
Formerly Homeless says
Neither are the voters of Lancaster known for their high integrity and competence. Especially competence.
East Lancaster says
Tomorrow is the big day! We the people will be showing up at the Lancaster City Council meeting on Tuesday, September 10 at 5 pm at Lancaster City Hall to express our dismay and disgust at recent remarks made by Mayor R. Rex Parris. If you have something to say, be there. It may be an old grievance you have with him, like the Eye in the Sky, or his ramming solar projects down the throats of Antelope Acres residents, or his push for a Walmart next to Quartz Hill High School, or his mailing of racist hit mailers, or his suggestion that we arm ourselves and shoot homeless people if they try to rob us, or his character assassinations of Raymond Lee Jennings, Johnathan Ervin, Randy Floyd, and Esmeralda Jorge.
Whatever is on your mind, tomorrow is the best time to let it all out.

I will make only one comment, since a nonissue was made an issue on this forum about the memorial on August 31. If the people that planned this memorial had an issue with Mayor Hofbauer using his cell phone, then it would have been handled in an appropriate way, quietly and respectfully. There was no issue! It is appalling to me that this was made a social media political agenda, but I’m not surprised.
Tim Scott says
C’mon man. During the event there’s only one way to handle it…ignore it. That’s what was done. That’s what I did. No one wants to start a confrontation with Hornblower and create an even bigger distraction.
But after the event is over I see no reason why residents of Palmdale should not be informed about how their mayor represents them, and I hope that a large enough number of them let him know that they don’t appreciate it that he changes his behavior. Say what you want about him, but Jim Ledford NEVER embarrassed Palmdale with his behavior at a public event.

Alexis says
To all the screen names that believe Rex is the root problem in both Palmdale and Lancaster: For years you have been complaining, so now it’s time to put your words into action, and show up September 10. I have witnessed people with their portable oxygen tanks take a stand, so there are no excuses. I’ve also showed up to important events to show support for change, and asked the question, “Where is everyone.” You know, everyone that talked the talk with eloquent words, but that was all they had.
Alexis says
This is the big babies cry room, where we can cry about other people not living up to our expectations. It’s easy, due to the fact that none of us use our real names, so we can lie, embellish, be self-appointed moral agents, or just be all around total jerks to other people. If someone says what we like it must be the truth, because it makes us feel better.
Jesse says
My apologies to the Hofbauer family, if you are reading these negative comments. Mayor Hofbauer was an invited speaker and is much appreciated. Someone we don’t know turned this into a political agenda on this forum with others that backed him up without knowing the truth.
Alexis says
That small group that didn’t get their way.
Eye on Hofbauer says
Hofbauer isn’t good for Palmdale. He’s good for Lancaster, however.
If he can’t take the heat…..
family says
Hofbauer is surrounded by supporters, so he can take the heat from the small group that stoops to the lowest level.
Tim Scott says
Yeah, Rex’s money goes a long way in defense, doesn’t it?
Eye on Hofbauer says
He needs a group of supporters to take the heat? I guess he just can’t take it himself.
He’s inserted himself onto every board and committee within a 100 miles and he expects to be pampered I guess.
I look at how he treated Mayor Ledford. He can dish it out but needs his enablers to defend him. What a brave guy.
Something’s not right with him.
Emma says
Go ahead and pitch all the fits you want. The fact is that the voters elected SH, so continue being bitter, and slinging your sophomoric insults. BTW, the only heat we’re exposed to is the temperature outside while we’re building homes. Your whining isn’t even close to giving out any heat. Continue on, you small ineffective group.
Emma says
What heat? From this small ineffective group of bitter old men? Absolutely laughable.
Emma says
Do something positive for your community instead of constantly whining. The voters elected SH, and all you can do is pitch your constant boring fits.
Tim Scott says
Actually, I can do two things.
1) Campaign to get rid of him and the rest of the Wrecks Parris pocket patrol next November.
2) Keep doing whatever I can to limit the damage he does until then. Maybe knowing that when he is representing Palmdale people will notice if he disgraces us will keep him from doing it.
Meanwhile, how many screen names are you going to go through on this project before Marv calls you off as an abject failure?
Laughing says
Tim you just accidentally pointed out the problem…
Lancaster elections are in April, not November, the last time I checked. Done on purpose to reduce voter turn out.
Tim Scott says
Yeah, but Palmdale elections are in November. Much as I would like to see Lancaster throw off the yoke, I can’t really be bothered pursuing it. But Palmdale isn’t too far gone to recover, if Sellout Steve can be flushed after a single two year term and the other two pocket patrol members get ousted along with him.
Alexis says
Well, Tim, I’m going to be at this meeting to recall Rex, along with others, (September 10). Hope to see you, William, and all the others.
Alexis says
Suppress voter turnout, Laughing? Yes, but voters are well aware of this, because elections in Lancaster have been held in April for decades. Fliers go out before elections, such as the famous hit mailer EVERYONE knows about. Why is it so hard to understand this? Apathy comes to mind, and the many excuses people use to not go to the polls, keeps Parris happy. Complaining doesn’t change anything, doing changes events.
Eye on Hofbauer says
Hofbauer was the one bleating “corruption” during the campaign.
There is no corruption quite like turning over Palmdale’s governance to Rex Parris.
I repeat. THERE IS NO CORRUPTION QUITE LIKE TURNING OVER PALMDALE’S GOVERNANCE TO REX PARRIS.
Already, he and Rex’s “other” councilmembers caved on the power sharing agreement (CCA)against the recommendation in the staff report. Why is that, Emma?
Stay tuned. We will keep a close eye on Hofbauer and he doesn’t like it.
If you don’t like it Emma and others, TOO BAD. TOO VERY BAD. He deserves it.
You sound bitter and nasty yourself Emma and you supported his dirty campaign. Enough said.
Jim Ledford didn’t run dirty campaigns but you went with the one who did, Emma. Now you don’t want to be responsible for the backlash.
Comment away. We’re ready.
Peace says
We came together for one purpose at Livings Stone on August 31st. We condemn any comments promoting a political agenda.
Tim Scott says
Who exactly is this “we,” pray tell?
Peace says
I am truly sorry to anyone reading negative comments about the mayor. He was invited to speak at the memorial on August 31, and did a fine job. Anything that has been brought to this forum in a negative way to promote a political agenda is truly appalling, and has nothing to do with the truth. God bless you.
Tim Scott says
Well, at least when he was on the stage he kept his phone in his pocket, I’ll give him that.
Jesse says
Pops would be the first man to stand up against your condemning comments about the invited mayor.
Tim Scott says
Observing what he did and letting his constituents know how he represented them isn’t “condemning.” If his actions condemn him then perhaps he should act differently.
Jesse says
A wonderful memorial for a man that loved his Savior. What is being said on here is a complete lie, and meant to try and promote a political agenda against an invited speaker.
Tim Scott says
It was indeed a wonderful event. I’m honored to have been invited myself, and I conducted myself appropriately.
As to my political agenda, yes, it does involve getting a better mayor for Palmdale as soon as possible. Always has, always will. However, that doesn’t require any lying on my part. Sellout Steve knows who I am, and if he wants to claim he wasn’t on his phone he is welcome to sue me for libel. In my defense I will produce numerous witnesses to his behavior, and he will lose. That’s why he is defending himself by having Marv send his disgusting minions here to pretend they are part of Pops’ family.
Jesse says
Stay away from these divisive people that are willing to lie to promote their hateful agenda. Pops would, and knew how to wear the full armor.
Jesse says
May Hofbauer was an invited guest asked to speak, and we appreciated his presence at this peaceful memorial for a man that did so much good. The very few that have their own political agenda, that love creating division, fortunately are a small number. Tim Scott knew if he brought his lie to this public forum, that he would be backed up by that have no problem lying either. Wear God’s full armor daily, and don’t let them affect what was a peaceful memory. Pops would keep your divisiveness far away from him, and continue with perseverance, which is what he did in his life.
Thor says
Jesse brings in “God” to support his comments.
There is no God. It’s an old rumor like they said about the earth being the center of the universe. So, quit spreading it around like gossip.
I’m just as much a god as your guy.
Trumpist#1 says
Wow, I’m glad you finally cleared that up for mankind after all these thousand years.
Your logic tells you everything came together from nothing, just randomly, huh? It must be comforting to be so sure.
Alexis says
Thor was a hammer wielding god of thunder made up in men’s puny minds. On the other hand, I thank God for His creation and look in awe at the wonder of all He has created. Matter and energy don’t come from nothing, so I thank God. He spoke it, and it was so.
Trumpist#1 says
Yes ma’am.
Thor says
Just reread you “authoritative” opinon on the creation of the universe, Alexis.
Like I said. It’s a rumor.
If, as you say, matter and energy didn’t come from nothing, they came from something. Right?
Where did that something come from? And, where did that something come from? So, it’s turtles all the way down. (Google it)
Creation has to come from nothing otherwise it’s not creation. It’s just a change from something else and something else and something else……..
Quoting the bible doesn’t prove anything other than it was written by man and we know how accurate that is.
You gave up your belief in Santa Claus as part of growing up. Why hold onto a more ridiculous belief such as an invisible god when you’ve dismissed all the other visible gods in history like me. You simply can’t be trusted on this subject to be reliable.
Beliieve all you want. It doesn’t make things real. Try believing you can fly and then jump off your roof. Try really hard. No. Even harder than that and now “JUMP”.
Alexis says

H. ‘pops’ W. never let the toxicity, such as these comments touch his soul. Spread all the dirt you want; it won’t touch him or his family. Thank you to the mayor.
Tim Scott says
NOBODY is trying to get any on his family. That particular bit of pretending on your part I actually find disgusting, which is another reason I’m figuring you are one of Marv’s little internet trolls.
His family is as wonderful as Pops was. Sellout Steve texting away during the service was a disgrace…to Sellout Steve and to Palmdale.
family says
We’re very happy with how the memorial turned out, including Mayor Hofbauer’s presentation, and presence. Yes, cell phones were turned off.
No Texting says
Like heck they were. He was texting frequently. He must have learned that habit from Marv and Rex.
Tim Scott says
Thanks. I know I wasn’t the only person who noticed, but I wasn’t sure whether I would be the only one posting here.
The thing that really surprises me is that Sellout Steve would do such an obviously disrespectful thing when he knew I was sitting as close to him as I was. I would have thought that even in his lofty little cloud of “mighty mayorness” he would know that I wouldn’t let it go unremarked. It’s not like I’ve ever hidden my disgust for the man.
Shamus says
LOL, pay no attention to these buffoons that would use a child’s memorial to spread dirt on the politicians in Palmdale. They would disrespect their own family memorials if they had an opportunity to slam the elected politicians.
Respect says
Respect is going to a service and staying off your cell phone. That didn’t happen. Typical politician.
Tim Scott says
Thanks.
Tim Scott says
No, I’m not, and Sellout Steve knows I’m not. If he wants to confront me and call me a liar he’s welcome to it, but he probably knows I have far more credibility in the matter than he does. How often during council meetings does he disrespect the speaker by toying with his phone?
Tim Scott says
By the way… “all cell phones were turned off” is an amazingly bold claim. Did you check them all personally? I know you didn’t check mine. I also know it wasn’t off, because it rang (silently, as was appropriate) and was ignored (again, as was appropriate). I think by making this absurd false claim you have revealed that you aren’t “family” at all, but more likely one of the little internet minions that Marv pays to stick up for his puppet.
But I’ll say again…if you really are family, and I am really bothering you with this, give me a call. If you really are family it should be really easy to find out my number, since most of the family has it.
family says
Enough, please. He was not on his cell phone. He was invited and we appreciate his words, and the peaceful memorial, along with wonderful stories. Your hate agenda can’t touch what was a wonderful memorial, which included Mayor Hofbauer.
Tim Scott says
There’s two lies here.
The first is “he was not on his cell phone.” Plenty of people saw that he was. If you check his Facebook page you can see the timestamp on his post. The absurd lengths that his paid defenders go to, with claims like “all cell phones were off” just make themselves look ridiculous.
The second lie is that somehow pointing out Hofbauer’s misdeeds takes something away from the event, or the family, or the legacy of Pops. That’s the paid defenders trying to somehow find cover for their failed mayor by using a genuine pillar of the community, and is disgusting.
Mostly I’m disgusted that the “defend Sellout Steve no matter what” staff would pretend to be part of a great family.
Palmdalian says
The politicians in Palmdale who have aligned themselves wit Rex, Marv, and Drunken Drew deserve every bit of criticism thrown st them. Alignment with the corrupt Lancaster regime does no one good in Palmdale .
Pearland says
Those politicians in Palmdale like to play the “Big Shot”of the party. They refuse to accept they are not being manipulated by Marv. Rex and Drunken Drew on any and all of the regional concerns. One of them [Marv.] raises tons of money from Republican causes and the other Drunken Drew spends it for whatever they support or fight. What a great scam! Palmdale Politicians are afraid and it shows whenever they are around, watch for yourselves.
family says
You just couldn’t wait to run to the public opinion section to try to tear down a wonderful celebration of life. We don’t accept your perspective at all.
Tim Scott says
How does me commenting on Sellout Steve’s disrespectful behavior tear anything down? I was there, and I was moved. Steve was there, and he was apparently busy elsewhere at the same time. You want to have a go at me for pointing it out? How about having a go at him for doing it in the first place instead?
By the way, if you really are family you shouldn’t have any trouble identifying who I am since most of the family knows, so if I’m really making you uncomfortable here you can just give me a call and let me know. Most of the family that are local have my number.
shame on you says
Shame on you, Tim Scott, for your negative comment about an otherwise beautiful memorial for a man that himself would not allow your comment to reach him. Your comment is a complete fabrication of what was a respectful, wonderful memorial. Unfortunately, YOU sow discord when there was none for this man at this church.
Tim Scott says
There was no discord. That doesn’t change the fact that Sellout Steve spent most of the time working his phone. If I’d confronted him about it at the time that would have been disruptive so I wouldn’t and didn’t. But that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be corrected for his behavior. If we’re to be stuck with him we can at least try to make him act like a mayor.
William says
a brand new username shows up just to make those comments by ‘shame on you”
you are not credible just like those others who magically show up to fiercely defend/praise hofbauer.
we suspect it’s hofbauer himself doing it.
putin>trump
rex>hofbauer
same thing on a smaller scale. if hofbauer doesn’t obey rex, he’ll be gone next election.
hofbauer ran a filthy campaign just like the ones rex runs. no praise for him.
Tim Scott says
I saw Sellout Steve Hofbauer today. He attended the memorial of a man who was a genuine pillar of the community. As he sat with his chin on his chest, anyone who happened to look his way may have thought it was a bit disrespectful of Palmdale to be represented by someone who would sleep through the proceedings. Those who sat close enough to him could correct them on the “bit disrespectful,” because they could hear the continuous ‘beep, beep, boop, boop’ as he played with his phone.
East Palmdale says
No doubt he was texting with Marv or Rex to get instructions on what to do next.
family says
East Palmdale…You, Scott, or anyone else that backs up this lie, absolutely can’t take away from what really happened at this loving memorial. So spread your falsehood. He wasn’t texting, and he was very respectful.
family says
Your hate can’t touch the love that was there for this man. We are all living stones, and the ones that bring their hate to spread will answer one day.
family says
Love you “Pops.”
Jesse says
H. ‘pops’ W. would be the first to dismiss your bigoted comment about a man that was asked to speak at his memorial.
Tim Scott says
I didn’t make a comment, I made an observation. I saw what I saw, and I’m not the only one who saw what I saw. If Sellout Steve doesn’t want people to say what they see him do maybe he should try doing something else.
Yes, it was a marvelous going home service and I was honored to be there. Yes, I’m glad about whoever it was among the city staff who convinced Sellout Steve to make an appearance. I just wish that when he represents Palmdale he would do so with some dignity. He behaves the same disrespectful way during council meetings.

Someone call a doctor
Mayor Parris in your rush to get in front of a camera, you shined a light on your leadership.
You stood in front of the nation and insulted and belittled people with mental illness.
Once again you didn’t have the facts, yet that didn’t stop you from show boating. I wonder is this how you handled your law cases?
You elevated yourself to looking like a fool in front of the nationwide press. Now that you have egg on your face are you going to be man enough to call a press conference and apologize to the people in the apartment building and admit that you didn’t have the info and just wanted to look important — just saying — maybe you need to see a doctor.
Laughing says
Dr. Demento was a fabulous DJ in the niche of strange songs. Let’s find a different name to use for this glowing example of pompousness.
Alexis says
Write Stuff: If Dr. Demento were at the helm as mayor, Lancaster would be doing much better in a very unique way. Check out his interview with Frank Zappa, among other very cool things about Dr. D.
Write Stuff says
That is true, and why I chose to spell it Dimento rather than Demento. Rex is certainly demented but Dr. Demento was not, so I wanted to connect the work of the great DJ’s program in showcase oddities with the name, but in this case, the oddities from Mr. Parris are more bizarre. But I digress.
Here is yet another letter:
This letter is in response to R. Rex Parris’s TV interview about the sheriff who was shot yesterday (8-21-19).
My sympathies are prayers are with the man and his family after this horrible crime. And I pray they find the person who did this.
But I have to say that Mr. Parris was an “a$$” in his comments about the people who live in the apartment complex that they believe the shooter was in.
First of all, how does he know that the shooter has “mental” issues? This person could be a convicted felon who hates cops! He could just be an angry person who had a bad run-in with a cop!
Mr. Parris has no idea who this shooter is. So to call out people with a mental health disease, say they shouldn’t be allowed to live near the Sheriff’s Station, was horrible.
People with a mental disease are human just like everyone else and have the right to live wherever they want.
Parris’s comments are only fueling the problem this nation has with how society has become so unaccepting of people that they see as different.
After listening to Parris’s awful TV interview, I believe that we should consider moving the people in that apartment complex to Mr. Parris’s neighborhood, since he says they shouldn’t be near the Sheriff’s Station. Just saying!
Trump 202o*2 says
Sorry, been away for a while. Been watching The President’s twitter this week, and it’s been going like crazy!!
Like when he endorsed the idea he is King of Israel and the Second Coming of God? (I’m totally on board with that) And then he said Jewish people who vote for Democrats are guilty of “disloyalty” to Israel? (Because Democrats are condemned to non-kosher hell). And then he started screaming, “WHERE IS THE FEDERAL RESERVE?” (somebody really needs to show him how to use google maps). And then he canceled a diplomatic trip to Denmark because the prime minister was mean to him and wouldn’t sell Greenland? (Imagine the Greenland Trump Casino and Embassy there? It would have been awesome!) And then he demanded Russia be reinstated in the G8 (Obama convinced them of the fake invasion of Ukraine, if you can believe that.) And then he declared he was The Chosen One who’d been tapped by the almighty to launch a trade war against China? (An article in Facebook said God spoke to him in Spanish and Esperanto) And then he joked, again, about serving more than the constitutionally mandated two terms in office? (Again, on board. Woot!) And then he talked about how much the El Paso and Dayton shooting victims loved him? (I mean, who doesn’t?) And then he suggested he’d revoke birthright citizenship via executive order (retroactive to 1857) Oh, and every american company STOP DOING BUSINESS WITH CHINA NOW! HE HAS SPOKEN!
Listen, it’s been a busy week. Trump forever! Woot! #MAGA
Alexis says
He’s listening to the wrong voices, but so are a lot of other people.
William says
Imagine you’re on a Delta flight and you hear the pilot announce “i’m King of Israel.”
Imagine you are about to go under for surgery and you hear the surgeon say “I’m King of Israel.”
Imagine you are on the AVTimes site and you hear Trumpist#1 say “I’m King of Israel.”
1 of those would never happen because of airline rules.
Trumpist#1 says
But I really am !!!! Can we compromise on Prince?
Alexis says
Prince is dead.
Trumpist#1 says
LOL. I don’t think you could mistake me for that tiny little guy running around with his butt cheeks hanging out, but you never know. I’d rather look like Zappa.
Alexis says
You’re fine just the way you look, and just the way you are. You’re unique.
Trumpist#1 says
I really feel empathy for the great people of Hong Kong in their struggle for freedom from the vicious Orwellian Chinese communist dictatorship.
From Hong Kong, Tibet, Xinjiang and Taiwan back to Tiananmen Square, the Chinese communists are blatantly brutal (and Socialist). They crush Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Falun Gong and freedom activists with equal ferocity. They won’t tolerate the freedom to read, speak, think, vote and worship any which way you want. They monitor your every move and financial transaction like something out of “1984”.
Now China, Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea and Vietnam are most of the only remaining truly Socialist countries. Those of us who are ignorant of history or are naive socialist sympathizers PLEASE take note.
Also, 360,000 Chinese students spy on us and steal from us in our universities. This can’t go on or they’ll eat our lunch (do you hear Sleepy Joe?).
Alexis says
Only my opinion, but President Trump is starting to remind me of Capt. Queeg in Caine Mutiny. “The strawberry incident.”
Trumpist#1 says
LOL. I don’t think he’s quite as paranoid as Queeg, but definitely worth a psychological study into his quirky, unique personality.
And he’s like a cartoon character, or the banker from Monopoly. Touchy, defensive, petty, vain, narcissistic, revengeful, greedy and has no filter or discretion. But he’s not a politician and I love his policies. He’s real, direct and more accessible than any POTUS ever. He builds the military and stands up for my side. He’s not a racist, criminal or Russian agent, just a putz. JMHO
But I’ll never be able to vote for a mealy-mouth, pandering, feckless, careerist, corrupt and politically correct politician again from the Democrats or GOP.
Much respect
William says
You don’t have to Trumpist#1. Your vote doesn’t count in blue California come election time or haven’t you noticed?
You might as well write in your own name.
Trumpist#1 says
Unfortunately you’re right. Maybe I can help just swing this district and send Katie Hill into retirement. But I can also whine, snivel, b!tch, and sob.
Regards you warped evil genius.
Chumpist#1, the adorable deplorable
William says
It’s your party and you can cry if you want to. I’d cry too if it happened to me.
My apologies to Leslie Gore.
William says
Then, there’s John. He sits in the peanut gallery only to fire spitballs occasionally.
At least Alexis, with whom I disagree most of the time, is down in the arena while you cowardly watch from a distance and don’t put yourself out other than to criticize me. What a brave one you are.
William says
Now Trump is calling himself “The Chosen One” and “The King of Israel” He’s lost his mind even further. I guess he’s given up buying Greenland.
What does that say about the folks who continue to follow this corrupt, insane man? Are they mentally ill as well?
Read what they say here. It’s revealing.
One dude has made up out of whole cloth that I can’t vote. He lives in Kellyanne Conway’s “Alternative facts” world where Trump is the King. His vote for Trump will be worthless in California next year, so he may as well stay home with his toys aka guns.
Trumpist#1 says
You never denied it. Well William, truthfully, can you vote? YES or NO ?
William says
Yes. So now what lie are you gonna put forth. You remind me of the birthers. No amount of evidence would they accept once they got the idea in their noggins. Kinda like you are.
I doubt you will accept my answer. You’ll make up something else.
I love that it drove you crazy for days that I didn’t reply.. You didn’t have far to go. It was a local trip.
Your guy now thinks he’s the King of Jews. I bet you believe that like you believe a lot of things that aren’t real.
William says
Wouldn’t it be great if the next president, a Democrat, transfeered all those men, women and children Trump has caged at the border and elsewhere and had the federal government put them up in Trump hotels?
The government is paying roughly $700 a day to some private company to house them in cages, so it might be cheaper at one of his fancy places.
Plus, there would we the added benefit of watching his head explode from prison.
Yuri ignorant Democrat says
William you are one ignorant Democrat I say we put them all in your damn house
One more brainwashed person
Loyal Trumper says
Perhaps you would be less bitter and unpatriotic if you were able to participate in our electoral process.
William says
Loyal Trumper. Putin and his Russian bots chose the Republican Party to work with as they were the most likely to be blindly led around by their noses……like you are.
So, that’s what is unpatriotic, being a tool of Vlad Putin. You are. I’m not.
Loyal Trumpist says
Your weak boy Obama destroyed the military and ruined morale because he implemented social engineering, yet you say I’m a tool of Putin?
“I can be more flexible after the next election.” Remember that? (Oh, I forgot, you can’t participate in elections, lol).
You seem to be bitter that the country is doing well (military, economy) and are so hysterical with Trump Derangement Syndrome that you only talk nonsense.
William says
“Trump Derangement Syndrome” is what he and you suffer from. He’s got serious mental problems as you do, someone who follows someone who’s crazy.
Were you in the Manson Family back then?
He’s now The Chosen One. Next stop, a straightjacket.
Unfortunately, you will still run around loose among us.
Loyal Trumper says
William wrote: “Unfortunately, you will still run around loose among us”.
LOL, gotta admit that’s funny. Good one.
William says
Hmm. Russia was working with the NRA and giving them $$$$s so Pepe Lapierre could spend money in Beverly Hills buying 1,000s of dollars worth of clothes. Doesn’t he look…..as bad as ever?
Plus, he wanted the NRA to buy him a $6 million house but that fell through. There is corruption everywhere around Trump.
When Trump is evicted from the White House, Serv-Pro will come in to clean “Like It Never Happened”.
Maybe the NRA will go the way of Blockbuster. Then what?
Alexis says
Wow, Bill Maher got it right when he ripped the anti-Israel (BDS) movement. I watched it and he is right on with his words. Now Rashida Tlaib wants a boycott on his show. His words were the biting truth and she can’t stand it. She want to suppress.
Chris W. says
Some wise advice young lady; don’t take his bait. William has been trying all day long to get someone to take his bait so he can engage in his usual petty, toxic behavior.
William says
You did, Chris W. Thanks.
William says
Where’s the jack s today? He thought he was so smart and now he’ll have to change his username unless….unless.he thinks it’s a good fit.
Speaking of cartoons (see Trumpist#1), jack s IS Wile E. Coyote. His ACME “William Destroyer” blew up in his face.
This is fun Trumpist#1 (exp. 11.3.20).
John says
Bill: You’re just like Trump and you don’t even know it. Name calling, calling people losers, hypocrites, frauds, and even making fun of user names. I know you call yourself a Democrat and so am I, but you are an embarrassment to me. By the way, William, I own a gun legally. Grow up sir, and stop living your life through cartoons.
Trumpist#1 says
Yeah, you might both be Democrats, but the difference is William can’t vote, so he carries on here.
William says
John, I wrote elsewhere that you just sit in the peanut gallery with nothing to say but throwing spitballs at my comments.
What a brave guy you are. Why don’t you get in the arena and put your opinions to the test in public instead of firing insults from your perch in the bleachers? Others have the courage to do that but not our John.
Safe Streets Antelope Valley says
From July 1st to August 14, 15 people and 2 dogs died in car crashes. Our streets need to be redesigned so people don’t constantly crash their cars into each other and so people can ride bicycles places.
Laughing says
Or maybe just have certain drivers not act like total asshats passing on dirt shoulders, passing on double yellows, doing 80+ when speed limits are a nice high 60 to begin with. Would also help if they drove sober instead of high and/or drunk. AND FOR PETES SAKE PUT DOWN THE PHONES YOU MORONS!
Trumpist#1 says
Yes sir.
Safe Streets Antelope Valley says
Definitely.
I was even on Pearblossom Highway a few days ago on the 2-lane section and some idiot passed the car in front on the shoulder.
Safe Streets AV for Mayor says
Antelope-Valley-Folk:
Since the 1st of July alone, there have been (((1+1+1))) Antelopians killed by cars, or more accurately transportation pods r; many more than have been killed in the 6.4 and 7.1 Earthquake. Those were our largest earthquakes in 20 years in this state and no one died. Except for a man whose *Transport Pod™* fell on him in Nevada, which may or may not have been caused by the earthquake. But our Transport Pod murders occur on a weekly basis.
On July 14, A man was driving a Jeep on 110th St W. He ran a stop sign at Ave O and ran into a car with two people causing its female passenger to die.
On July 15, A person driving a minivan accidentally drove off a cliff on the Angeles Forest Highway, causing him to die. This is a place where people mainly drive at 80mph, and I’m not exaggerating.
On July 19, a person died in a collision with a big rig.
On July 21, A driver banza “did not see” 5 motorbikers stopped at a red light. They hit 3 bikers and 1 died the next day. These type of incidents are called SMIDSY, for “sorry mate I didn’t see you,” in British. SMIDSYs are prevented by less lanes, increasing the mental focus on each lane and (S)lower speeds to give the motorist more time to process their forthcoming obstacles before they encounter them.
All we have to do is NARROW THE STREETS. IMPLEMENT 20/20 residential streets, a build a bikeway on every half-mile street.
IT IS POSITIVELY CLEAR, as we like to say in this town, that with 165,000 people united on one front for the betterment of our city, we can stop ALL car murders in 1 MONTH. WE CAN DO IT
Trumpist#1 says
Can anyone answer me: Is William our resident troll able to vote or just whine, snivel and bring everybody down?? HE CONSISTENTLY REFUSES TO ANSWER.
Why does he hate America and everyone on this site? Does anybody know?? SMH
William says
Hey, Alexis
I just scrolled down this section and read a few of the nasty replies you’ve written to others here. You are a fraud, a hypocrite.
Do you want me to copy and paste some of the nasty ones from your high perch on your altar? You might want to leave being a Christian out of your comments from now on.
Continue on. It will take some work. Try me.
Trumpist#1 says
William:
You still have never answered my question! It makes us more skeptical. CAN YOU VOTE ????
I bet you can’t vote. I bet you have no friends. I bet you’re single without meaningful relationships. I bet you’re not even a citizen and that’s why you’re jealous.
Am I right? The forum wants to know.
You have no honor.. You have no chivalry. You’re a bitter, negative, little pipsqueak and the resident troll here that brings everyone that interacts with you down.
It’s so much more fun without you. Next time I’ll tell you what I really feel (if they publish this).
Trumpist#1 says
And I question your patriotism also. You want America to fail, don’t you? You’re like a Russian bot here, annoying everyone and dividing us every chance you get.
And since your intellectual level is Looney Tunes, Daffy says: YOU’RE DESSSSSPICABLE.
William says
It looks like Trumpist#1 (exp. 11.3.20)has taken my advice to take 2 sildenafil but didn’t wait 4 hours to post. He’s replying to his replies a la the Hall of Mirrors.
A while back he asked 4 questions and I answered with 4 “Nos” but like a small child repeatedly asking “But whyyyyyyyyyy?, ……But, whyyyyyyyyy?” in a whiny voice, he can’t help himself. He reverts to his inner child when confronted by an adult…………….y’know………….ME.
Now, the manly man, Trumpist#1 is asking for help, the poor thing. Help him. Are you expecting Alexis to bring down the wrath of God upon me for you? God is more forgiving of true sinners than so-called Christians like her who use their faith as a weapon. Apologies to Pat Benatar.
You’ll notice Daffy that your guns are useless here and you keep showing up unarmed for any debate that takes more than thoughtless reactions on your part.
You keep yammering about “fun”. Well, this is fun tweaking your delicate self and watchin’ you flail about trying to best me. Flailing and failing. If it’s no fun for you being a loser, stop being one by now playing the victim. That would be the smart thing to do but, then again, we’re talking ’bout Y-O-U. Trump doesn’t like losers.
Imagine that…..losers, millions of them, voting for a guy who doesn’t like losers. Ask the farmers who are “losing” their farms due to Trump’s Tariffs what it’s like to be conned and then shafted. I guess that’s 2-for-flinching. If they voted for Trump, they brought that on themselves. Now, “socialism” is bailing them out till alter the next election.
Yes. You can make this stuff up.
Alexis says
Good morning: Science confirms that there is a Supreme detail oriented Designer-Creator. Thank you God! Thank you my Provider for a roof, life giving water, food, and the means to pay for what I have which I don’t deserve. Most of all, thank you for Your Word that brings me along on this journey in life. You are my Physician and Teacher! It’s a beautiful day!
Alexis says
I freely admit I have been one of the worst hypocrites, among many other deep flaws that I accumulated over my lifetime. My sincere desire to change and become a better human being is a work in progress with the help of my Savior.
William says
So, Alexis. Assuming you’ve told yourself that God has forgiven you, what has you continue?
You obviously ignored that Trumpist#1 called me a “despicable troll” among other things when I posted a comment about impeachment and emoluments and was criticizing Trump. In other words, Trumpist#1 began with that reply. And, you joined in aligning yourself with someone who supports Trump who is doing real damage to this country. Aren’t you paying attention?
If you can’t stop being a hypocrite as I just pointed out, what has you continue doing it. You may have those thoughts but what has you put them in writing here after you’ve admitted it? Does God forgiving you give you permission to keep on doing it? I know that some Christians behave that way. Are you one?
Chris W. says
William: We’re all moral hypocrites, whether we admit it or not. Judging others more severely than we judge ourselves. Don’t take his bait young lady. You are on the right path.
William says
Speak for yourself Chris W.
Trumpist#1 says
William: It’s too frustrating when they censor and delete half my responses. I don’t want to play anymore. It was really fun, but the selective deletion of my responses which never show up and the apparent favoritism given to yours make it not worth the effort.
That’s what happened a couple years ago and takes the fun out of it. Do you have intimate pics of the moderator?
MAGA
Alexis says
Trumpist#1:
You’re much more interesting, so you keep on keepin on!
William says
You are such a fool Alex. Remember that. You have been a fraud from the start.
Anyway, you take the case of someone accusing me of having intimate photos of the moderator.
Considering the time you spend here, I wouldn’t be surprised if you were posting from a prison. Do they let you use the internet there?
Alexis says
Trumpist#1:
William disliked my comments so much that he took my screen name and typed the words, “I’m sorry William for disagreeing with you.” This happened five years ago. He’s a deceptive little guy, and likes playing dirty while typing This is why I feel bad for him.
William says
Alexis. You are feel bad waiting to happen.
Trumpist#1 says
I am certain that the vast majority of readers here would feel JUST THE OPPOSITE
She’s among the nicest people here and you’re the most hated commenter on this site, period.
AM I RIGHT PEOPLE? WHAT SAY YOU OUT THERE ?
MAVGA says
Keep on keeping on William!
William says
Trumpist#1 (exp. 11.3.20)
As Trump would say “You’re a loser.”
Can’t take the heat can ya? Your comments are so nasty no wonder they are deleted.
And, Alexis agreeing with you gives Christianity a bad name here. Hypocrites do that so well.
Alexis says
That’s not your call, but thanks for your opinion. I honestly do feel bad for you, because you have been so nasty to so many people over the years. I know how you used to use my screen name to get back at me because you didn’t like my comments, and you do it a lot, and then lie about it. When you are so desperate to type,” I’m sorry William for disagreeing with you,” I know you are a very sick man.
Alexis says
William…Remember Nancy P., Granny13, Jud, and a whole long list of others that called you out for your nastiness? It’s obvious you like having an ugly attitude, but I hope you find some peace in your senior years.
William says
Who was it that said that this site is for opinions not facts?
Check this out for an example of opinons and not facts.
Alexis says
July 18, 2019 at 11:06 am
“God owns everything! When He sends His Christ, all the proud one’s will be taken down. Then the government of God will reign on earth. No Democrats or Republicans, just his righteous Royal Law.”
We apparently have both “Freedom of religion” and “Freedom from facts” in this country. With both, we are doomed.
Alexis says
William…Thank you for your opinion. Thank you for taking the time to post my comment. I have faith and hope that all will be restored according to God’s purpose in His perfect timing. I feel badly for you, that you have such doom and gloom in your heart.
William says
Alexis, one more thing aside from religion. You wrote “I feel badly…..”. Do your fingetips lack any sense of touch?
It’s “I feel bad…”. “bad” is an adjective describing your state of mind. “badly” is an adverb describing your sense of touch (feel). On the other hand, you would say “I cook badly.” not “I cook bad”. Or, “I dance badly.” not “I dance bad.”. It’s adverb/adjective. I liked grammer in school of all things and it’s getting harder and harder with the casual way we speak nowadays. I’m sure you’ve seen people write ” I could of….” instead of “I could have….”.
Frankly, I don’t know how people learn English as a second language as it’s so complicated and constantly changing. The Roman Empire grew as it did because Latin was a very powerful language that was able to communicate in ways that produced results rather than just describing or talking about things. For example, saying “I request ….” is more effective than “Would you mind blah, blah, blah…” which is the way we speak sometimes.
I know this will go over Trumpist#1’s head as he has shown himself to be a person who reacts without thinking. Not good when someone says he owns guns.
Alexis says
William…Thank you for the correction. I do feel bad for you, that you have such doom and gloom in your heart. I make mistakes, and I am grateful when someone corrects me in a gentle uplifting way. I know this much, William; I know good, kind people that don’t have a command of the English language like you, but are a light to others. I prefer Hebrew and Arabic myself. “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Quote by Eleanor Roosevelt. I live by those words every day. The Bible comes first for me though, and putting God first.
William says
Just so you know, Alexis, I wasn’t born knowing all this grammar stuff. But, writing on various websites, I’ve looked up a lot of things for myself such as definitions, grammar, sayings, foreign words, etc. Now, I know what portmanteau means in language.
BTW I’ve seen you go back and quickly correct an error occasionally..
So, grammar errors stand out more than they did for me years ago. At the same time, I like to write somewhat colloquially such as “‘y’all” (my ex was from Louisiana) and “gonna” and such.
My hardest chore is the use of commas in sentences with clauses, Santa and others.
Telling someone that their heart is full of gloom and doom isn’t really a Christian thing do do rather than showing compassion, is it?. It doesn’t reflect well on the brand as some misguided Christians do that all the time such as calling people “sinners”. That’s on them. Using faith to make others wrong and sinners really isn’t consistent with faith.
People who don’t believe as Christians do about certain things aren’t sinners. Christians who believe that certain things are sins and commit those “sins” are themselves sinners by their own rules. Is that clear? That’s where widespread Christian hypocrisy is seen and may be why fewer people are attending church nowadays.
Young people can see through that and are foregoing church attendance and looking elsewhere. I did and it’s working. There is authentic love in my life and I don’t much talk about it. I live it with the people in my life.
It’s funny how people know that their dog loves them unconditionally yet dogs don’t talk about it, sing ballads about it, write poems about it. They are love. That’s what’s been available in my life with people and it has nothing to do with religion which sometimes takes the place of authentic love. It’s better than nothing but it’s no substitute for the real thing.
Right now, you can’t deny that many so-called Christians are silent about the abuses that Trump has done to so many Americans and others. They will lose in the long run as history doesn’t support that kind of “faith” for long. Think back how many religious practices and ideologies have had to go over the centuries. How can they claim to be the “truth” when years later, they say “Oops, my bad.” Take the Mormon Church and its policies on black Americans that it had to change. I didn’know the truth needed changing so often, y’know, like diapers.
I hope you can hear some of this. If you as a person of faith think others are stubborn for not accepting your beliefs, consider how it is to talk to Christians who can’t be open to things that challenge their faith. It goes both ways. I believe in 1 less god than you do.
Jack S. says
Wow, William! All the mistakes you’ve made in spelling and grammar over the years. I read all comments, including yours, and I would think you would have made sure you corrected your own mistakes before acting like Merriam Webster. A person thinking they’re smarter than the other person, has already shown their inferiority
William says
Jack S.
You wrote>
“All the mistakes you’ve made in spelling and grammar over the years.”
You know that isn’t a complete sentence don’t you? You just shot yourself in both “feets”, now didn’t ya?
It’s like saying “All the kings horses and all the kings men.” Then what? By your own definition, you are inferior. Ouch!
By the way, you do realize that if you say your username out loud, well, it describes the person who wrote your comment. You unwittingly did that. You’re so funny. Carry on.
William says
What happened to the jack s?*
He did a hit and run after being hoist with his own petard.
Some people. Whatta ya gonna do?
*say that out loud.
Alexis says
I find it beautiful that in this time that I have left, that I can volunteer right next to Christians, Muslims, Atheists, agnostics, Buddhists, Hindu’s etc., to help the less fortunate. Also, I am thankful that you quoted a comment I made back on July 18! Thank you for caring enough to do that.
William says
100,000 people have signed a petition to remane several blocks of New York’s 5th Avenue “Barack H. Obama Avenue”. It was started as a joke but 100K signatures might make it happen.
Trump tower is at 725 5th Avenue. They don’t like Trump in his home town. They know him well.
This will be good. I would say this will drive Trump crazy but that’s already happened.
Trumpist#1 says
Wacky Wet Willy: You didn’t answer me again. Do you vote or just complain and criticize like a useless troll? Can you vote? You have no patriotism and want America to fail, don’t you?
Now that Trump is your leader for 6 more years and then Pence for 8 more, you must be miserable. You sure look and sound miserable. To quote the man, WE’RE WINNING, WINNING, WINNING !!!
Eat your liver, lol.
MAGA/KAG. USA, USA, USA, USA
William says
There’s opinion when it comes to religion but be careful posting opinions as facts. It’s fine to say you believe in “X” but believing it doesn’t make it so. You don’t believe that gods fly across the heavens in chariots do you?
Well people once did. Did gods really fly across the sky in chariots due to many people believing that?
I don’t practice any faith but I’ve given it some serious thougtht and to the nature of belief itself.
I don’t have doom and gloom in my heart. Where did you get that? That you would simply state that as a fact says more about you than me and undermines your claim to faith. Is that what Christians do when they talk to others? Is that how you see others because they don’t believe as you do even though you changed from one set of beliefs to another? How can you claim to know the truth when you go from one truth to another like changing political parties?
If you’ve paid attention to my posts, it’s mostly to point out lying and hypocrisy which is especially prevalent in our politics. And, politics has a big effect on our lives and when it’s done without integrity things don’t work. Look around, Alexis. We’ve got a president who has lied over 10,000 times since taking office and religious folks hypocritically ignore that. That doesn’t work.
Rather than believing in imaginary things, I work to relate to what’s so in life. My life works pretty well by doing that. The quality of my life doesn’t depend on a tax cut for example and I’ve never voted to get one. I supported Obamacare even though I don’t need it but I do want people who do to have it available. Even though I don’t have a religion telling me to do that, I’m quite surprised how some evangelicals who wear their religion on their sleeves support Trump and his caging of children and wanting to get rid of Obamacare. How Christian of them. That’s where it’s the hypocrisy I question.
William says
Trumpist#1
You ARE Daffy Duck. No matter how he fusses and fumes like you do, he always loses every encounter like you do.
The harder you try , the crazier you sound. Y’know, like Trump. He’s a perfect representation of you and your ilk. There is a team around him that tries and fails to corral him as he’s out of control like you, Trumpist#1.
When he’s gone next year, so will you be gone. It’s a perfect world that way. There’s really nothing you can do about it. You are set for life just the way you are now. There’s no hope for you as long as you are in charge of you. Nothing that could make you smarter is allowed to pierce your thick skull.
Now, react in your usual silly way without thinking….3….2…..1…..shoot your mouth off again.
Unlike you, I can handle your immature rants and flaming outbursts while you can’t handle my taunts. I love tweaking your delicate sensibilities. Like I’ve said, there are 4 young women in Congress with a bigger set than you and can handle Trump and death threats while you lose it here on this site from the written word. Why don’t you have those young women coach you in becomin a man? Y’know, strong, resilient, calm under any circumstances, able to handle incoming without losing it, etc. You are not any of that and it shows.
Hmm says
“For one to understand it, one must understand the period in which it happened. There was a fever over the land. A fever of disgrace, of indignity, of hunger We had a democracy yes. But, it was torn by elements within. Above all, there was fear. Fear of today. Fear of tomorrow. Fear of our neighbors and fear of ourselves.”-Dr. Ernst Janning
When there is a fever in the land, don’t turn up the heat to fix it.
Alexis says
You are right, Nadia, along with the thousands of people that voted for Steve Hofbauer, to give him a chance as mayor. Even I know he has a consulting business. I remember like you when Palmdale was uninviting and sparse. I also know city planners before, which included S. H., and city planners now have much to do with the growth of Palmdale. This is an opinions section, not a fact based source to draw from. Some people never have a positive outlook.
Nadia says
I believe the time we had back in the ’60’s, ’70’s, and 80’s and before faceless social media, there was much more civil discourse. I went to high school with J.L., and have much love for both Lancaster and Palmdale. We have so much to be thankful for, and yet it is sad to read these vicious comments. I know there are a few on here that have been exceptionally vicious throughout, since 2011. They will always find a reason to be that way, because they are always unhappy and want to spread their poison. Thank you
Alexis says
Laugh at the buffoonery…Laugh at the put downs….Laugh at the name calling, and remember this quote from Eleanor Roosevelt: “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
Alexis says
I read all these comments and it is truly amazing how much you twist comments, especially William. Giving a politician a chance while he is in office is NOT praising him. I even know S.H. didn’t try to pass himself off as a firefighter; that is your perception which has nothing to do with reality. The voters have chosen Mayor Hofbauer, and I along with others hope he does well. That is what reasonable should always hope.
Truth says
Alexis, his signs say Firefighter Steve Hofbauer. What part of Firefighter do you not comprehend?
Alexis says
Truth…I will continue to give any elected politician a chance. I obviously have a different approach to life than you, and will submit to what the voters have chosen. If the voters are not happy with the results they can go to the polls and vote them out. BTW, I know what his job qualifications are, and I know he runs a consulting business.
Trumpist#1 says
Alexix, imagine how vicious we would be to each other here without your wisdom and kindness. Thanks for being you.

Alexis says
Trumpist#1…I will try this again. Zappa and I would play at B.J.’s Tavern in Palmdale back in his very early days before stardom. Haven’t shared that ever. You’re too kind, friend.
Alexis says
Trumpist… A little jewel of information about Zappa: Before he became famous and he was a local, he would dazzle the locals at a place called B.J’s tavern in Palmdale.
Random Stranger says
Clearly not the one by the mall. Where was this BJs and what was it like?
Tim Scott says
Considering that Zappa lived here in the 1950s that’s before even my time, and I’m even more intrigued by Alexis.
I will take a guess though, based on 1950s Palmdale being pretty much a one light town that this tavern was on Sierra Highway just off Palmdale Blvd.
Alexis says
Tim, Frank Zappa was living here in the early ’60’s, also. Interesting times for sure, and Lancaster Blvd was fun back then in a simple way. Frank, me, Don Van Vliet (Captain Beefheart), and Lauri Stone all left what we thought was a Podunk town, for the bid city.
Alexis says
Random Stranger: This BJ’s was off Sierra Highway, and it was in the ’60’s. It was the local tavern, and they were not into our music, LOL.
Tim Scott says
My bad Alexis, I thought he left right around 1960, but early 60s is still before my time so I will certainly take your word on it. Was BJ’s in the old JCPenny’s shopping center?
William says
I heard Richard Engels, an NBC foreign correspondent, on Bill Maher’s Real Time show mention that China has a program called The Belt and Road Initiative.
China is planning far into the future while we aren’t. I thought of how BYD might fit into their initiative as they are investing in our transportation infrastructure with their buses.
I Googled the Initiative below
“The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a global development strategy adopted by the Chinese government involving infrastructure development and investments in 152 countries and international organizations in Asia, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas.[1][2] “Belt” refers to the overland routes for road and rail transportation, called “the Silk Road Economic Belt”; whereas “road” refers to the sea routes, or the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road.[3] “
Emma says
I really hope BYD stays in Lancaster! So many jobs at stake, upwards of 800 people. A thorough investigation into BYD revealed there was no threat, and that comes from Katie Hill. Unstable paranoid people that can’t look beyond their own agenda. Livelihoods are on the line that would affect single women, veterans, among many others that feed their families and provide a roof over their families heads.
Cynic says
The Palmdale City Council approved the Sprouts mixed-use development on 15th St West and Rancho Vista by a vote of 3-1. The only vote against the motion was by our village idiot Austin Bishop.
Nadia says
Well, Cynic, it’s good to see you agree with Mayor Hofbauer on this wonderful project.
Tim Scott says
LOL…as if Hornblower had anything to do with it. Credit him for not killing it though.
Nadia says
Mayor Hofbauer had a lot to do with it. City planners have been working on this project for about a year. The only dissenting vote was Austin Bishop. Credit where credit is due, even when you don’t like him.
Tim Scott says
Yeah, credit where it is due. That would be city staff…who were a whole lot more motivated back before Hornblower was taking credit for everything that went right and tossing blame grenades about everything that didn’t please his owners in Lancaster.
My home says
There are a lot of positive things going on in Palmdale, and one of them is Sprouts Farmers Market and the new townhomes, apartments, and other projects. Our Mayor has a lot to do with this positive growth, but the group of people that do nothing but try to tear down Palmdale with distortions will always be around. Ignore them and carry on. They’re nothing but a bunch of sore losers.
Question Lancaster Authority says
Hornblower is the best mayor Lancaster’s money can buy. The sad fact is Rex and Marv used him to get Ledbelly out. Now they are tired of Hornblower’s bloviations and will turn on him. Watch for Lancaster’s money to back the town idiot Austun Bishop next time. Then the Lancaster takeover will be complete.
William says
@My home and Nadia.
Mayor Ledford has brought about countless things in Palmdale for 26 years through thick and thin. Hofbauer comes along like Trump did claiming credit for something that was in the works before he took office. Tell us exactly what Hofbauer did. I know Mayor Ledford lobbied many companies personally to locate in Palmdale.
I seriously doubt that Hofbauer is as effective a representative for Palmdale as Mayor Ledford was. Companies must think “Who is this joker?” when they meet him.
Hofbauer took office December 13, 2018, a little less than 8 months ago and you 2 are giving him credit for stuff that was started before then. You have no creds.
Who do ya think worked to get Trader Joe’s if you think Sprouts is a big deal? Palmdale Regional Medical Center with AV Hospital fighting it all the way. The High Speed Rail station right here in Palmdale. And on and on.
Frankly, I suspect that all these new usernames praising Hofbauer are probably written by Hofbauer himself or his minions and I don’t believe them. I say we ignore you My home. Your guy ran a filthy, rotten campaign to win the office so don’t give us your stuff about tearing down things. Hofbauer did that to Mayor Ledford with the help of Rex Parris.
I doubt we will hear much more from you 2 “concerned citizens”. You’ve said your piece.
Nadia says
William…You got so many things wrong in your assumptions, but bless your heart. I voted for James Ledford, and yes, I know all of his accomplishments. James Ledford is not our Mayor now, Steve Hofbauer is, and no, I am not Steve Hofbauer, bless your heart, nor am I one of his minions. I am a long time resident of Palmdale (since 1965), and I have chosen to give our elected Mayor a chance while he is in office. So far I am generally happy with what he is doing here for this community. I and so many others are going to give him a chance instead of being a part of some of you and your continuing hate campaign.
Nicole says
William hit the nail on the head. Ledford’s two decades put Palmdale in the forefront of the Antelope Valley. Lancaster was left behind in the dust and the only way they could stop it was to remove Ledford. Their smear campaign worked . Hofbauer needs to tell Rex and Marv to pound sand and keep Palmdale moving forward. Let Lancaster play with cannabis grows, Eye in the Sky, solar fields, and BYD. Palmdale is getting all the shopping, air service, rail service, and has Northrop and Lockheed.
William says
Nadia, I still don’t believe you but that’s okay. You want to give the guy who ran a filthy, yes, “hate” campaign against Mayor Ledford with the help of Rex Parris a “chance”??? That would be “fat chance”. BTW, I hear that Hofbauer and gang on the Council are going through the city’s surplus rainy day funds (that were saved during Mayor Ledford’s watch) quicky and we’ll see how that turns out when we need those funds.
Bless you too. You said city planners have been working on the project for a year yet Hofbauer has been in office less than 8 months. Do the math. Exactly what did HE do? I guess I get credit for being here while the project was being planned as well as the trees outside City Hall.. I said he’s just like Trump coming in after President Obama spent 8 years restoring a crashed economy (remember when GM and Chrysler almost disappeared?) and claiming credit for it.
I’ve heard on good authority over a year ago that Hofbauer, Carrillo and Bishop were hardly ever at City Hall, y’know, working. I guess they were over in Lancaster meeting with, oh, “people” and that is why.
Let’s see what else Hofbauer can claim credit for besides not actually being a firefighter.
Why don’t you go ahead and acknowledge Mayor Ledford, whom you voted for, for all the things he accomplished since you were here since 1965? You must know of many things that I missed. Come on, let’s see ya do it here in writing. You want to compare the Sprouts project with all the things Mayor Ledford accomplished? That’s like comparing an apple with an apple orchard.
Nicole too says
Here comes the Debbie Downer Cult where everything is a conspiracy, and all the politicians are corrupt. Stay positive, and stick with the truth. Paranoia is in the heads of the regulars that do nothing for this valley but complain. Gang of do nothings that show up when anyone says anything positive about Palmdale and Lancaster.
Nadia says
It doesn’t matter to me whether you believe me or not, William. Oh how I have seen a remarkable transition in Palmdale since ’65, and I also know people like you that have moved here cause nothing but chaos, constantly whining about our city. I miss James Ledford, but I am still going to give Hofbauer a chance, so live with it. BTW I don’t need to explain anything to you, and I will surround myself with the good people in this community that walk the walk. You’re nothing but a big mouth strutting around telling people you’re smarter and better looking than everyone else.
Nadia says
Steve Hofbauer was a Senior Fire Inspector, Flight Medic, licensed EMT, Paramedic, Fire Marshall lll. He also was Planning Commissioner for Palmdale since 1992. He’s had an impressive career and has done much for this community. The voters elected him, and if they are not satisfied with him as Mayor, they can vote for another candidate. It’s that simple. Find something positive to do for this community instead of your constant complaining.
Alexis says
“No wise fish would go anywhere without a porpoise.”
Nicole says
Yes Nicole. Steve Hofbauer was everything you listed. He was not a fire fighter and that is what he portrayed himself as.
For anyone who doubted Lancaster’s control, submit a request for the financial statements of Eye on Palmdale. That group backed Hofbauer and Carillo and is run by Loa. Crist and Parris are major donors.
It must be nice to live your life clueless.
Tim Scott says
Nadia, you left out Hornblower’s very successful fire safety consulting business. Probably intentional, since most people who do business in Palmdale are well aware that a key point in getting council support for your project is a healthy fire safety planning budget.

BLVD Bob says
Another day, another robbery on the BLVD. Tonight it was outside Rio Brazilian. Weapon of choice was a knife. It didn’t appear to be homeless people doing the robbing, so no need to take Rex’s advice to carry a gun and shoot homeless if they rob you. You’re better off avoiding the BLVD at night, or altogether.
Alexis says
Do you know why Mr. Peanut wears a monocle?

You’re welcome, and thanks for the effort.
Trump 2020*2 says
It also amazes ME that some people that are felons, illegal aliens, mentally ill or domestic abusers and don’t have the constitutional rights to vote or possess firearms are the loudest, most obnoxious and hypocritical haters of our constitution, President and country. I mean, felons had a chance to use guns and probably used them wrong, illegal aliens all have guns and have sexual cooties and stuff (or so I’m told), mentally ill people all have the opportunity to own guns because happiness (as we all know) is a warm gun, and domestic abusers probably used guns as blunt objects.
HOW DARE THEY TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT DO WITH MY AR-15 AND PINK BAZOOKA!
And as we all know, it’s the video games that are to blame. And board games. Ever feel good after a game of monopoly? No? Well, there you go.
We should ban video games, ban conversations from anyone other than Trump supporters on what to do with our God given guns, and ban expressions of outrage from any traitor that doesn’t want to see everyone dress like Wyatt Earp coming down the street.
God bless you, and may God bless the people of Toledo.
Trump forever!!! Woot!!!
Trumpist#1 says
It amazes me that some people that are felons, illegal aliens, mentally ill or domestic abusers and don’t have the constitutional rights to vote or possess firearms (looking at you William) are the loudest, most obnoxious and hypocritical haters of our constitution, President and country.
Every time real patriots try to discuss and solve problems, these jealous trolls get hysterical (like the Socialist convention this week, lol) ANYTIME OUR COUNTRY MAKES PROGRESS. Unpatriotic Bill Maher wants the country to go into recession just to get rid of Trump. They want this country to FAIL !!!
TRAITORS !!!! Send them back.
William says
BOO!!!
Just wanted to scare Trumpist#1. He’s such a delicate little man that needs a gun or many guns to feel MANLY. Those are his own words.
And, yet, somehow it doesn’t seem to work as he is so thin-skinned. When he does shoot his mouth off it’s simply the sildenafil talking. He said he’s old and it shows in the writings.
And, yes, his crazy rants do remind me of cartoons like when Daffy Duck loses his s*** and sputters like Trumpist#1. I posted one of them earlier and there are more.
Alexis says
Black market guns: The more gun laws you have only drives up the demand. There are many ways around a legal purchase, so many loopholes that if a debased mind wants to commit a mass shooting (always premeditated), it will happen. The endless squawking politicians stepping in with their futile agenda is hitting the news again, and none of them fully understands the gravity of violence.
Alexis says
Gun laws will NOT stop mass shootings! Mass shooters prepare, and their acts are premeditated. It is absolutely stunning to me when people want to turn this into a political issue. There are straw purchasers, if someone wants a weapon of destruction, or the thriving black market. A person that is focused on killing can find so many ways to even legally purchase a weapon. We can’t stop a debased mind from justifying his actions. A person bent on destruction doesn’t care about gun laws.
PrayForToledo says
Well, since the recent shooters all bought their guns legally, it’s obvious they do care about gun laws. But I’m curious…if gun laws won’t stop them, what will? If the fact that maybe buying an AR-15 with a 200 ammo capacity magazine is ridiculously easy and that making them impossibly hard to get and license won’t stop this, what in your great wisdom will stop this? A ban against video games? A ban against liberals owning video games? Bans against bans? If the proliferation of guns is not the issue, please, pray tell, what will make this stop?
And tell you what…make the future mass shooter jump through as many hoops getting a gun as there are hoops for getting mental health care and I guarantee that some of those lazy asses will give up halfway through filling out their third referral form.
Trumpist#1 says
Again. And again. El Paso-like killings keep happening. 20 people dead. It’s crazy to allow 18-21 year-old kids to purchase assault weapons of war, meant to do nothing but kill in mass quantities.
I’m an NRA member. I have 10 firearms and go to the range with my family 5-6 times a year. I raised 2 kids that both served in the Army and each own an AR-15.
Never-the-less, I can’t see the need to have weapons of war so readily available. Hunting ( I don’t), self-defense or target shooting does not require weapons designed specifically for war. I first shot an assault rifle in 1973 and they sure are fun. But necessary for anything else but mass shootings? I think not.
California already bans sale, but I’m a renegade NRA member supporting a complete buy-back program for .223, 5.56 and 7.62 caliber assault rifles. What say you ???
PS: I hope my kids don’t read this.
Tim Scott says
I say that there is very little that California can do in the way of gun law making that can make a difference in the face of the Arizona border. Until we have FEDERAL regulations that at least make a lick of sense the states are just spinning their wheels because there is ALWAYS a neighbor state destroying any chance of making a difference.
But as long as the GOP controls any level of the federal government there is no chance for any kind of sensible federal regulation to pass.
Trumpist#1 says
Absolutely right. I should have specified federal action for this exact reason. Thanks for clarifying.
Meanwhile, House and Senate legislators are home partying.
Death by stereo says
It’s too late. There are so many gun in this country now, there isn’t much we can do about it. The gun manufacturers/NRA and the GOP wast to keep selling more guns every year to stay in business and make a profit and buy politicians.
It’s hopeless.
Randy says
It doesn’t help when a Republican mayor R. Rex Parris suggests that his citizens carry guns, a violation of law, and shoot homeless people if they rob you. His cavalier attitude towards guns was made clear when his wife tried to board a plane with a loaded gun and he ‘aw shucks’ shrugged it off her taking the ‘wrong purse’.
With people with mindsets like Parris in power, things will only get worse.
Cynic says
That’s actually a very sensible and logical view you have. My respects. I wish more people on the right would be as level-headed as you when it comes to guns.
Trumpist#1 says
Now again in Ohio. Wow, what the hell is happening?

It is bad enough that BYD is a company from Communist China, but it also puts out crap product. Albuquerque dumped them and we should too. There are American companies that make electric busses. We just need Rex and Marv to make the bidding process fair and not favor BYD which donates to their campaigns.

And why isn’t the highway patrol out on the 14 freeway if there’s a car accident. They’ll be 10 to 15 CHP Cruisers you don’t like losing the 14 freeway because it’s not over time cuz I guess if there’s an accident you get to get some overtime paid correct because you are definitely not doing a good job on the 14 freeway.

I don’t know why people keep saying that Trump supporters are nothing but white, poor and stupid.
First of all, joke’s on you, I’m not white. I’m more of an off white. Not a ‘get back to your country’ brown, but not a ‘german aryan with flawless skin’ white either, but somewhere in the middle.
Second, I’m not poor. I have a trunkful of Iraqi Dinars that pretty soon will be worth over ten billion dollars if Trump does us right (and he will). Meanwhile, as long as Subway keeps taking EBT, I’m golden.
Third, I’m not stupid. I’m very well educated, and I even read ‘art of the deal’ twice. I read just as well as the President. I even follow online activity, and according to Qanon, online is where it’s at. I think he said online. He may have said something about the corn rising from the ashes, but you get my point.

East Lancaster says
Wrecks is getting desperate on this one. He brought the Commies here and now the government is finally fed up. All the Chinese spying is too much. Wrecks can see his campaign contributions from them drying up. Wrecks is more concerned with a Communist Chinese company with a few hundred jobs than the tens of thousands of jobs at Edwards and Plant 42. He is a useful idiot to the Communist Chinese.
Alexis says
Dearest East Lancaster: You better get rid of your computer, cell phone, car, and so many more of your everyday things. I won’t provide the facts for you, look it up yourself, it’s easy. The enormous amount of export, import trade that we have with China is in the many billions. Yes, we do much business with the “Commies.” Don’t worry about Edwards, Rockwell, Northrop, etc. Don’t go to any Chinese restaurants in Palmdale and Lancaster, because of possible spies.
Raven says
The U.S. imported a record $539.5 billion in goods from China in 2018. The U.S. is a net importer from China in most market segments such as consumer electronics, apparel, furniture, industrial supplies, and airplane parts for aerospace.
Raven says
Every country spies, even this country. Maybe you should be more concerned about those in our military smuggling and using drugs, and trafficking humans. If you know history, I’m sure you are also aware that our government interferes in the elections of other countries. Did you know Osama Bin Laden use to be our friend, before he became our foe?
Trumpist#1 says
Raven, you don’t live in other countries. Where is your patriotism??? The Chinese commies are vicious, ruthless monsters and you can’t compare us to them (unless you’re one of them).

Gina says
Trumpist#1: Right wing squawking heads are the domestic terrorists. Blame Kevin McCarthy and Rex Parris.
Vic says
Rex has been bought and paid for by the Communist Chinese. He gets campaign contributions from BYD and will do anything for them even if it means putting our nation at risk. Ask yourself whether opening the door to having a Communist Chinese company nearby outlet nation’s most sensitive national security operations. Most people will say no, but most people aren’t in bed with the Communist Chinese like Rex is.
Aero says
Vic: Obviously you’re not informed or care to be. The Aerospace industry does business with China by imports of aircraft parts, among other imports that are too numerous to mention. You obviously have a computer, so be careful, the Chinese might be spying on you.
Vic says
^Aero, the Communist Chinese are not spying with computers. They use people. Rex has given them a front row seat and made it much easier. When I worked for a defense contractor we were educated on the ways our enemies try to steal valuable technology from us. Rex has made their job a lot easier. Thank you Rex. Benedict Arnold would be pleased.
Aero says
Vic; America does a great deal of business with China. A record $539.5 billion in imports. According to your comment about Rex being a traitor, well then, call out the rest of America for being a compromiser. You won’ do that because of your complete obsession with Rex, and the small town perspective.
Vic says
^Aero, buying a Chinese product is completely different than inviting a Communist Chinese company to set up shop next to the nation’s most sensitive national defense contractors and an important air force base. You are either unable or unwilling to differentiate between a product and people. The Communist Chinese continue to try to steal our expensive and sensitive technology. They do not do it through toasters, microwaves, phones, or tvs. They do it through people who they send here to live, mingle, and steal information.
Yes, Rex is a large part of the problem. He is a useful idiot to them, and a useless idiot to us.
no blinkers says
Wow Vic! You are definitely unable or unwilling to see beyond Rex and his buddies. Thinking that the Chinese only use people is just plain ignorant. No, Vic, the Chinese don’t use toasters or microwaves, but apparently you didn’t catch the news about spyware. You and your little online group only focus on Rex, and no, he is only a problem to the paranoid few like you. Our military does business with the Chinese, but you have no faith in their ability.
no blinkers says
Vic: You obviously know nothing about BYD, which is backed by Warren Buffett (Berkshire Hathaway). Instead of doing your homework regarding BYD, you and your other ignorant (not knowing) locals, blame it all on Rex Parris. Bunch of paranoid locals.
Vic says
Another useful idiot. I take it your one of his commissioners? Which one? National security? Rex will spend $10 million tax dollars on a plane that is supposed to keep Lancaster safe, but does not, yet he will bend over backwards to give a Communist Chinese country an easy way to live close to sensitive national security centers.
Doing business for parts is doing business for parts. Letting the Communist Chinese set up shop her is foolish and dangerous.
Which is what you get when you deal with a foolish and dangerous opportunist like Rex.
Paranoid few? More than a few have deep, deep concerns about having Communist Chinese settling down in Aerospace Valley. They are finally taking steps to stop the madness.
Vic says
Warren Buffett did not move BYD to Lancaster. Rex and Antonovich did. The Communist Chinese were handed an espionage gift thanks to our fearless leaders.
We ‘ignorant locals’ put national security over campaign contributions.
Useful idiots.

Feckless commenters that don’t have a problem spending their money funding these so-called commie Chinese. Yes, definitely hypocrites that won’t give up their comfort, and sit on the fence blaming the politicians.
East Lancaster says
Wrecks must be pretty scared that his campaign contributions from BYD will dry up now that the Feds are finally dealing with the infiltration of a Communist Chinese company. Wrecks can’t seem to see the difference products made in China, much of it cheap garbage, and inviting the Communists to work and live in the vicinity of nation security operations. It’s good to see that the Feds and the people are waking up to this threat. Wrecks would rather keep his political contributions than to keep the tens of thousands of jobs tied into national security here in the Antelope Valley. He should retire and move to his Laguna house and enjoy his life there, so we can continue to enjoy a good Communist free life here.

You want to know how I know? Because Trump told me so. And so did Kelly Anne Conway. And Ivanka. And his wife…I forget her name. I like Ivanka better. And Fox news. And Breitbart. And many other people that are saying it, and some key lawmakers of the great GOP, and Puttin’, and that one black guy that stands in the background in the rallies, and that one hispanic lady who makes his taco salad, and Trump Jr., and Eric, and many many others. I even think Trumpist #1 would not call the president a liar! And if you can’t trust the president, who can you trust?

Why is Mayor Parris’s son a Planning Commissioner? Why was Marvin Crist’s son a Planning Commissioner? In a city of 160,000 people we can’t find anyone not related or with a conflict of interest?
We live in a very dirty city.
Alexis says
There are seven members on the planning commission in Lancaster. This has nothing to do with incest, but what a dirty mind you have.
Trumpist#1 says
I think they confused incest with nepotism.
Incestisnotbest says
Trumpist#1, you get it. There is no hope for Alexis. He or she it taking it literally. In Lancaster, you are in the ‘family’ in you suck up to Rex and do his bidding. There are more than plenty of people willing to suck on his teets and do what he says.
Again the question is..why is Mayor Parris’s son a Planning Commissioner? Why was Marvin Crist’s son a Planning Commissioner? In a city of 160,000 people we can’t find anyone not related or with a conflict of interest? We live in a very dirty city.
Lancaster is dirty to the core.
Alexis says
Thank you, but I have plenty of faith, and hope. There is a word to use properly to expound on your comment, and the word is “nepotism.” You’re stuck on the word incest, which is rather disturbing, because you’ve used it before. You are crude, bitter, and hopeless, but you’re not alone. You choose to let R.P., and M.C. live rent free in your head. That’s hopeless.
Incestisnotbest says
You may have plenty of faith and hope, and I admire you for that. You are deficient in this case in understanding the definition of the word incestuous. From Webster’s—- incestuous adjective
in·ces·tu·ous | \ in-ˈses-chə-wəs , -ˈsesh-\
Definition of incestuous
1 : constituting or involving incest
2 : guilty of incest
3 : excessively or improperly intimate or exclusive
“… mainstream fashion magazines have an incestuous relationship with advertisers, and that undermines integrity.”
— Ike Ude
In this situation, definition 3 was used to describe The situation in Lancaster. Cronyism also is a good description, as is nepotism.
The point is, in Lancaster you are either in the family or you are left out. They had had a nice, long, and cozy operation that had made a lot of money that has only benefited a few.
Your failure to see or comprehend this is why the word hopeless was used. Not about your faith or hope in life.

It’s a new day in the great US of A, all under the glory of President Trump.
For eight years we were oppressed (yes, oppressed!) by a man of color in the president’s office. All the racial intolerance that we had brewed since the 1950’s were under attack! Under that dark thumb’s rule, our racism grew and bloomed until it was honed into a fine instrument of intolerance. And suddenly, Trump shows up! He called Mexicans what they were, drug dealers, criminals, rapists (and some, he assumed, were just ok). And that’s when we knew that our oppression was at an end!!
Now, it’s ok to be racist. We don’t have to hide in shadows any more. We bring our hate and intolerance for all things different to the light, and we revel in it. Why? Because we can, that’s why. We have a guide now, a beacon of light; nyet, a beacon of hope!
So, here’s to four more years of purity, of saying things the way the REALLY are. We don’t have to hide, we don’t have to apologize, we don’t have to ask permission. Go ahead and tell that Mexican woman selling you oranges that you’ll call ICE if she doesn’t behave! Tell that turbaned fellow that you’re watching him because you don’t know what he’s got in the bag, although it smells like bagels. It’s our turn, fellow Americans!
Four more years of Trump! Trump 2020! #MAGA

Lucky Luke’s is there now. But if you don’t want to deal with all the panhandlers, check out their brewery in Palmdale. I don’t think they’ll last very long on the BLVD.

DON’T: Try to resist the dehumanizing treatment you will receive if you’re even close to a shade of brown.
DO: Answer ‘TRUMP, BABY’, when they ask you who the president of the united states is.
DON’T: Answer ‘El pinche hijo ‘e puta Trump’ when you’re asked who the president of the united states is.
DO: Scream ‘CHAIN HER UP’ when they’re loading a pregnant woman into the van.
DON’T: Scream when they’re asking for proof of US citizenship and you left your passport in your other pants.
DO: Claim you’re a God fearing christian who just wants their streets clean.
DON’T: Take into account this weird Jesus fellow who would have probably handled this all wrong.
DO: Stand proud for your race. Stand proud for your president. Stand proud for America.

There is a lot positive about living in the A.V. None of it has anything to do with Rex, Marv, and the Lancaster power elite which has now infiltrated Palmdale. In spite of them, there are many great people and things going on. People are helping the homeless, rather than taking Rex’s advice and arming themselves and shooting homeless if they rob you. There are volunteers building homes for veterans without siphoning tax dollars to political friends.
The A.V. is good. Rex and company ain’t.

Racist remarks? Just Democrats causing ruckus by not leaving. Pedophile association? They’re just jealous that Ivanka was so hot at that age. Global warming? Just crank the air down way low. Kelly Anne Conway? Her ethnicity is beyond reproach and she looks like someone trustworthy. Sanctity of life? As long as they’re not brown and over the age of 2, I’m all for it. North Korea? Have you met Qui-Gon-Jin? He’s awesome! Russia? Let’s not talk about motherland. Lunar landing? Hoax. Area 51? Hoax, maybe. Don’t know until we get there.

What a state of the city by Wrecks. He’s pushing for Orwellian cameras to spy on us, something that will be struck down by the federal government. He’s bragging about a homeless housing program that is more successful in making his buddy Erhlich rich than meeting the demand for housing—he could house the entire homeless population in tiny houses for what he’s giving he buddy to house 100. Then he’s bragging about being net zero. What the heck is net zero? Producing more energy than you consume? Big deal. You think Boulder City doesn’t produce more clean electricity than they consume? Or Stateline? What about Brattleboro, VT? Besides, Wrecks can’t seem to come to grips with the fact that once the sun goes down, he’s burning coal and oil to keep his empire going.
At least we’re getting a Golden Corral. Whoppie doo!
Can we get a real mayor?
Alexis says
I do know that Kensington Campus is goin to be wonderful! This isn’t just about building tiny homes to house people, but providing all the necessary means to help people up, so they can be productive citizens. It’s in a much better location than way out on 60th street west. This is much better than the shelter on Yucca was. So many services will be provided for those in need.
East Lancaster says
Yes the Kensington Campus will be wonderful. Scott Ehrlich will have a nice payday and 100 fortunate individuals who can afford the rent will have a beautiful place to live. The rest of the 3,400 to 4,000 homeless will still be left out now that the homeless shelter is closed and Wrecks refused to use the facility on Avenue I. But he will still blow smoke about his greatness. What a crock.
Alexis says
“Who can afford to pay the rent?” this isn’t about what you are saying. This is a shelter with all the services to go with it to help people transition to be productive citizens. The facility on 60th street was too far out. I’m talking to someone that doesn’t care about what Kensington Campus is all about. Everyone that is involved that truly cares, understands, and bless these people for making a positive difference. I will leave the complaining to you.
East Lancaster says
A lot of people understand what is really going on with Kensington. Wreck’s pal Scott Ehrlich is going to make a lot of money on a project that could and should be done more cost effectively. But that’s not important in Wreck’s Lancaster. What’s important is that you create the appearance of doing good but all the while your pals are taking in taxpayer dollars. It’s the same with LEAPS, Ecolution, Solar, whatever. So much more could be done with that $25 million, $26 million if you count the missing $1 million from the County.
Alexis says
Yes, and at Kensington Campus couples will be able to stay together. At the other places they couldn’t do that and that kept couples away. There will also be a place to keep their dogs. I know how important their dogs are to them, as I have had my little dog for twelve years. He was with me when I was homeless, and now he is with me as a productive citizen, gratefully giving back what so generously given to me; time and love.
East Lancaster says
Of course couples would be able to stay together at the shelter in I. Quit drinking the Wrecks Aid. There are between 3,500 and 4,000 homeless and Wetecks is funneling $25 million tax dollars to house 104. His backer Scott Ehrlich is going to make a killing while thousands suffer in the heat and cold. This is the ultimate show with little substance. I am happy for the lucky 104 people and their dogs, but I am angry that the other 3,400 to 3,900 people that could be helped are being left out by Wrecks and his continued insider deals that benefit the chosen few.
Emma says
Thank you “The People Concern.” Thank you to all the volunteers! So many of those in need will be lifted up with all the services that will be provided on this wonderful 14 acre Kensington! “The People Concern” provide all that is needed to bring those in need the help to become productive citizens.
Tim Scott says
Alexis, I don’t have any argument with Kensington providing much needed services. Or with 60th street being too far out. That’s not the point people are trying to make.
The issue is made clear by doing some simple math. The 60th street facility ran on a very short shoestring. Like, a budget of almost nothing, mostly provided by the Salvation Army. The county provided the site, and tried to provide about a million dollars which got eaten up by the “Wrecks tax” before it got through Lancaster. Now we have this approach, which helps 104 people but with the built in Wrecks Tax costs 25 million.
If you want to do something for three thousand homeless, which is a conservative estimate, at that rate including the Wrecks Tax you are looking for three quarters of a BILLION dollars. Which means that there is no way to afford to help everyone that needs help. And that “no way” isn’t really a result of “there are just too many” or “it just costs too much to help.” That results DIRECTLY from “anything you try to do in Lancaster costs at least ten times what it should because the Wrecks Tax must be paid, and it must be paid FIRST.”
Emma says
Your opinion is simply not true. This 104 you’re talking about is distorted at best, because they will be helping many, many more. This isn’t just about 104 homeless people, and the rest of the homeless, (except those that don’t want help), will have access to services. Move on Alexis, this commenter along with the others of the same mind-set don’t understand.
Emma says
Also rehabilitating, finding employment, and so much more for the local homeless population. This includes all homeless that want help! This is not limited to 104 homeless like this commenter says.
East Lancaster says
The services that will be provided by Kensington are great. They will compliment what Grace Resources is doing, MHA, Salvation Army, AVPH, and all the other agencies currently working to help the homeless. Where Kensington is an epic failure is in is housing component. Wrecks chose to line the pockets of Scott Ehrlich rather than address the housing needs. $25 million could be much better spent, but not with a leader like Wrecks who rewards his donors over the needs of the hurting. Besides Wrecks doesn’t even live here anymore. He doesn’t care and here are 25 million pieces of proof. It’s just another show like LEAPS, Ecolution, Traction Seal, terrorist burial ban, and everything else he does. Smoke and mirrors. We need a real leader who see the issues, cares about the issues, and takes real steps towards resolving the issues.

Will he tell us how safe and great Lancaster is while our homes and cars are being broken into?

When the census comes around and you see the glorious question of ‘are you an US Citizen’, it behooves everyone who fills it out to mark ‘yes’. The reason is that Trump is carefully monitoring that question, and if you put ‘No’, he knows if you’ve been sleeping, he knows when you’re awake , he knows if you been bad or good, so say ‘yes’, for goodness sake. You don’t want ICE to come down from the rafters and freeze all of your guns, do you?
What if you’re NOT a US citizen, you ask? You’re committing a crime, you say? It’s a small price to pay to ensure that Trump is happy. You do want him happy, don’t you? DON’T YOU?

CuriousGeorge: I’m a newly baptized Christian ( seven years), and I pray and study the Bible daily. All through the Bible, God commands us to care for the foreigner, and to love them. He says, “do not vex them.” He will bring judgment on those that are cruel to the immigrant. It is beyond me that most Christians distort God’s Word to suit their agenda. The way God’s creation is treated by people that like to oppress, will be re-payed. Don’t believe me, look for yourself.
Victoria Allen says
California needs to wake up. Stop voting the liberal left democrats in office. In the past 6 years under Mayor Garcetti the homeless population has increased 75 percent. Even after voting in a tax to go to that problem. We are seeing diseases we haven’t seen hundreds of years. Governor Newsom is putting illegal aliens ahead of legal Americans. He is offering free health care for all. Also if you are here illegally for just 30 days you can get free college. What about the middle class what do their children get? Nothing! Illegals can use expired documents that can’t even be confirmed to get a drivers license. You the legal citizen try to use expired documents, see what happens. Now on July 1 their will be another 6 cent gas tax increase. I was born in California and have never left. I’ve seen this state go from being called ” The Golden State” to now the Illegal alien and homeless sanctuary crime state. It’s very sad. Time to stand up for your rights and do something for change. The liberals don’t care about you only what you can do for them.
Tim Scott says
In future could you separate your mindlessly parroted GOP talking points into individual paragraphs instead of stringing them into a single mass of baseless drivel? Thanks in advance.
Alexis says
Victoria Allen…It doesn’t matter whether the Democrats or the Republicans are in office. Neither party can fix the massive problems we are living in today. Only when Jesus comes to set up His Kingdom here on earth will there be righteous changes. There will be no political parties, only His peaceful righteous rule.
Alexis says
Victoria…This is a hot mess issue, and unfortunately it’s only going to get worse. I have been homeless, and have personally witnessed at rallies, and meetings, that both political parties talk, talk, talk, about what they want to do, but nothing gets done. We speak and they act like their listening, only to be dismissive in the end. I’m not political, and want nothing to do with either party, but I do know Mayor Garcetti does care, but has no solutions. Neither do Republicans.
Alexis says
Here’s something else for you. While Republicans and Democrats are hurling insults at each other, blaming each other, so focused on how dysfunctional the other political party, there are people volunteering on the front lines doing something for the homeless, and poor. I thank a kind, compassionate pastor in the Salvation Army; if not for his efforts getting me off the streets, I wouldn’t be where I am today. There are many that are helped up by the Salvation Army. I would probably be dead in some alley if I waited for a political party to help, and I know many that feel the same way.
Alexis says
“We do know that 60% of the homeless have criminal backgrounds; they’re criminals and thugs.” Parris said. Well Mayor Parris, I resembled that remark. I won’t go into the details, but I know Jesus stepped in to turn my life around in the most remarkable way! Because He saved me, I in turn have given my life to Him. Most people that kill are not homeless, and I can also say that Jesus’ teachings are antithetical to the words that come out of your mouth. I am now a productive tax paying citizen, grateful to be able to give back to my community.
JPB says
We know that 100% of what spews out of Mayor Parris’s mouth is garbage and should be ignored. In this case, where he is encouraging citizens to break the law and carry concealed weapons, he needs to be held accountable.
If someone in the mental health profession would care to review many of his other outlandish remarks, we might have an interesting case study.
Alexis says
The Parris video interview with Leo Stallworth is on local ACLU Facebook.
Vicki says
OMG! I just saw that video of Parris saying to shoot the homeless if they rob you. Is that for real? If it is he should be called on the carpet. That is irresponsible.
East Lancaster says
Did you see today’s paper? Rex said he stands by his comments and now he has two councilmen in Crist and Mahli agreeing with him. So our city council endorses having citizens of Lancaster carry concealed weapons illegally and shooting homeless who rob you?
Alby says
How about don’t rob anyone and you will never have to worry if they are conceal carrying or not. They will just be your total stranger minding their business as most people should do. Though I gotta admit, it would seem a bit silly to see a bunch of fatties and nerds and self righteous holy-rollers walking around lancaster/palmdale with a stick up their hind end and a gun near their hoohaa.
Tim Scott says
Bull. Paranoid crazies like Wrecks will wind up shooting you if you ask for directions.
Art R says

Responsible Resident says
Our Councilmembers are idiots that only follow what Rex says because they are all in the same miserable boat. Councilman Christ is a bully that is really worse than the moron Mayor and he keeps Councilman Mahli in line whenever he wants. Little leadership for a better Lancaster going on here and one only has to witness the out of control crime rate in Lancaster to prove these people have no idea what they are doing.
Tim Scott says
Well, they actually follow Wrecks because he illegally funds their campaigns for re-election if they do and will fund someone else into their place if they don’t.
Mitch McDeere says
Wrecks funds candidates in both cities. He controls the entire AV now. You’re either in with him or your out.
It’s the same for any agency or school district. You join team Wrecks and you get rewarded.
It reminds me of the movie The Firm.
Alby says
Is it more responsible to rob someone while threating his/her life?
JPB says
Wrecks has done it again. After his interview on KABC 7 with Leo Stallworth aired and was shared on Facebook, people were outraged at his callous, insensitive, and maniacal suggestions regarding he homeless crisis. Wrecks went so far to suggest that people break the law and carry concealed weapons and shoot homeless people if they robbed him.
The video has now mysteriously disappeared. It was taken down. Why? Does Wrecks control KABC 7 like he controls the Antelope Valley Press, Lancaster Sheriff’s Department, District Attorney’s office, and the judges who work the Anton0vich courthouse?
This is a sad day for truth in the Antelope Valley.

What an unstable meglomaniac we have.
Kathy says
Freud: Wow, when did he say this? Please provide me with the link. It is hard to imagine that a mayor would suggest shooting a homeless person. Thank you

Thank you Freud! Wow, oh wow; If I were so inclined (unstable) I could assume he gave me permission to illegally carry (being careful though) to shoot a perceived threat, and then say, Mayor Parris said it is better to be tried by twelve than carried by six. After all, the video is proof. Can’t he be ousted for his bizarre behavior?

I watched the video, and that part he said about being careful if you carry illegally is beyond bizarre. Then to say “It’s better to be tried by twelve than to be carried by six,” is, well, just plain unstable.

No, I’m sure Jesus was carrying a loaded .38 while healing the sick. You never know when one of those bastards would start something.

Ron, I’m really wondering…what is ‘their place’, exactly, which a loaded weapon would help you put them back to?
Alby says
Do you have in mind to rob someone? Are you entitled to do so with a red carpet in front of you as you make your way rummaging around some place that does not belong to you? Perhaps in the mind of a crooked lawyer or a Hollywood cowboy whore would one think that way. That’s why it’s healthy to loosen your tie a bit and UNCONSTIPATE your mind from toxic crooked blood sucking mentalities that deteriorates this loved town which is part of our consumer nation. Try listening to the birds in the air to calm your nerves while accepting the fact that we are taking our town back from the scumbags little at a time. Criminals dont give a damn about C.C.W. laws of California. Why should the good and innocent people of this town give a damn either?
Where is the CHP says
I’d really like to know what the CHP does on the 14 freeway people going over a hundred miles an hour you never see a CHP and they talk about traffic accidents if you’re coming from the 5 Freeway to the 14 northbound you’ll see chds between the five and Soledad Canyon after that nothing is it because after Soledad is it is too far to go to to Yum Yum Donuts so I figure once they get past Soledad there is no Yum Yum Donuts
You people are being paid with our tax dollars you need to do something about the traffic on the 14
Random Stranger says
I heard that the CHP in the Sana Clarita area patrol the lower part of the 14 through the canyon and the AV office has the upper section. Both offices are small and have to patrol out to the ends of the county lines. Maybe it’s the Sheriff that you’re not noticing since they have way more cars.
Well says
I never see a sheriff on the 14 freeway. I had a crazy guy one night going in and out of traffic I called and CHP after 30 miles and more they still hasn’t showed up I wouldn’t count on them for anything

Should matter for the CHP it is a Highway

Proverbs 14:31 says
“We love our neighbor. It means we care about their well-being. We are Christians and we love each other and when we don’t, we better get right. Wouldn’t it be truly magnificent if the leadership of both cities started praying about the well-being of both cities?
These are the words from Mayor R. Rex Parris at his prayer breakfast. When I read them, I threw up in my mouth.
This is man who routinely confuses love your neighbor with sue your neighbor. He has long track record of ruining lives and careers. He engages in insider deals at every turn and in on record calling an African American man a gang candidate.
Rex’s brand of Christianity isn’t one you will find taught in any Sunday School that I am aware of.
He has declared war on gangs and war on Section 8. His latest war is on the homeless, the most marginalized people in our society.
Proverbs 14:31 states “He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.”
Shame on you Rex and shame on those who follow you.
Alexis says
Sunday school? Sunday is the first day of the week. God commands us to keep the Fourth Commandment, (Saturday, Sabbath). Saturday is the seventh day. Jesus kept the Sabbath.
Proverbs 14:31 says
Romans 14:5,6 – “One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord.”
Many brothers and sisters keep the Sabbath on Saturday. Some on Sunday. Regardless, of which day, it is impossible to find Rex’s brand of Christianity taught on a Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
Shame on him and his supporters.
Alexis says
The Fourth Commandment is a command, not an option. God through Jesus tells us how to worship Him. He tells us what day He sets apart to keep Holy. Sunday is part of the six days that we can work and do common things, but Saturday (Sabbath) is the day He set apart (sanctified).
Alexis says
Romans 14:5-6…These verses do not concern “any” days that can be kept holy. Taking verses and suiting your own agenda without applying the entire chapter, and the full meaning of Paul’s discourse is a distortion. Many people misinterpret the Bible, and it is between God and Rex Parris. It is between God and all of His creation, what He is working out. Nowhere in the Bible does God change the day from Saturday (Sabbath) to Sunday, the first day of the week to call holy.
Alexis says
The Catholic Bishop of Rome (later known as Pope) officially changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. 321 A.D. edict, stamped by Constantine.
Stephen says
FYI Proverbs…Romans 14:5-6, along with the entire chapter is about the matter involving abstention from food on particular days, “to eat or not to eat” is the question at hand.
Proverbs 14:31 says
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” I John 4.
There are many false prophets and false gospels in our world. The gospel preached by white supremacists is a false gospel taught by false prophets. When some says ‘love one another’ and proceeds to destroy peoples lives and means of making a living, there is a disconnect.
The brand of Christianity exemplified by R. Rex Parris should be tested.
As for Romans 14, it is much more than abstention from food or meat on particular days. It addresses faith from a “weak” and “strong” perspective, and Christian “freedom”. Some believers hold Saturday as the Sabbath. Some chose to worship the Risen Lord on Sunday. Few would condone the practice of hating one another, destroying character, and willfully hurting others.
Stephen says
The “weak” and the “strong” has to do with food slaughtered for idols. You talk about love, yet step out of line and condemn your Mayor. Take the plank out of your own eye.
Stephen says
You are talking about false gospels, and false prophets, when you are doing the same thing by misinterpreting Scripture. White supremacists misinterpret Scripture, so anyone including you are guilty of distorting His Words to fit your human reasoning.
Proverbs 14:31 says
Suffice to say that when you preach love one another but have a track record of destroying lives, and you shed light on it, it is not a misinterpretation of Scripture. It is stating fact.
I do not condemn my Mayor. I speak the truth of his actions. Condemnation is not my role. Speaking truth is not a sin. The truth is he has a long track record of destroying lives, in addition to many other less than noble actions. Many people shrug off his behavior as Rex being ‘rough around the edges’. Tell that to the people he has ruined.
Regarding Romans 14, yes to eat or not eat meat was the subject at hand, but Paul elaborates far beyond simply meat or no meat. The picture and issue is much bigger which is why he discusses honoring specific days, doing labor on the Sabbath, etc.
Alexis says
Shame on the voters that didn’t bother to show up to vote him out four times.

The picture in today’s paper of people kneeling before Rex and his henchmen was disgusting.
Alexis says
Even the A. V. Times has articles about candidates in January before April elections. The A. V. Times has had articles about Rex Parris that should have motivated voters to go to the polls to vote him out, yes, even in April! The A. V. Times even had an article about low voter turnout. Around 60,000 registered voters in Lancaster, and only 6,600 went to the polls. Excuse givers and complainers that refuse to take responsibility for the reason you have this mayor. It’s so much easier to complain about your corrupt mayor then to go to the polls. You deserve what you get for non-action.
QH Holdover says
I did not vote for Rex. I will never vote for Rex. I will never stop telling the stories of Rex. Maybe that will wake up the sleeping giant. We are never going to get the local paper or media to fo any investigative stories. He owns them. Local business people and their big campaign contributions will always go to him because he owns them. He is protected by local judges and the DA from having an investigation. The churches like sheep will continue to vote for him because their leaders are in his back pocket. It is depressing but we cannot stop fighting for truth and the oppressed.

All for the love of money, that is what he worships over doing what is right. Despicable man!
Alexis says
Well, that says a lot about you too, and the other commenters. Voters vote for the people that are most like them, so all the negative things you pour out about Rex applies to you and the ones with the same mind-set as you. He’s been your mayor since 2008, so blame yourselves. You’re not the victims you say you are. You are responsible for keeping this (despicable man) in power.
Alexis says
All you Facebook posters that wander over here with the same negative rhetoric should have lost confidence in your mayor during his first term and voted him out. But nooooo, you kept him in power not once, not twice, not three time, but four, count them, four terms. It’s your fault for being lazy and not going to the polls, and yes, you get what you deserve for non-action. I noticed there are more people that post on Facebook than go to the polls. Yep, that effects change.
Chiang Kai-shek says
They will probably make a statue for him in Beijing someday with a plaque that reads “Useful Idiot”.
John Thomas says
Eye opening article about Rex’s Lancaster at Qz.com. Mounting .50 calibers on the streets?
A nexus of gang violence and hate crimes, Lancaster experiences 83% more crimes per square mile than the rest of California. Violent crimes per capita are nearly double the national average.
We deserve everything we get for voting for this dope.
QH Holdover says
This guy is embarrassing our City of Lancaster. These utterances by our Mayor only bring negative reaction to our out of control crime rate that he has no clue how to fix. Funneling city resources to his close personal friends for crime fighting ideas only makes them rich and our city stays a hellhole to live in.
Alexis says
John Tomas…Yes, I read this article, and saw the video. Rex Parris said he was being facetious, but his thoughts became words, which if left unchecked become actions. This very dangerous man has been left to do his dirty deeds for a total of four, count them, four terms. You are absolutely correct when you say “we deserve everything we get for voting for this dope.” The non-action of the people in Lancaster have allowed this to continue, even when early on as the mayor he showed signs of being unstable, yet sly as a fox. Maybe 2020 will be a change for the better.
QH Holdover says
Quit being a Rex apologist. You say he was being facetious about having cops with .50 caliber guns.
Was he facetious when he said he was bringing Asians and “The Gays” to the BLVD to lower crime and raise educational levels?
Was he being facetious when he called an African American veteran a ‘gang candidate’?
Was he being facetious when he said he wanted to dump dead bodies into the landfill?
Was he being facetious when he told the WSJ that his bird sounds were lowering crime citywide?
Was he being facetious when he said they should ‘hang them’ in the parking lots at the Sierra Highway motels?
Was he being facetious when he said a power plant would kill minority children on soccer fields?
Was he being facetious when he said he was not supporting Chinese birth tourism when in fact he was?
Was he being facetious when he said there must be a reason why Lancaster is succeeding while all other cities were failing?
You are correct. He has shown many signs of being unstable. Yet you and others continue to be apologists for his actions.
It’s time to quit making excuses for him.
Alexis says
Dearest QH Holdover…Apparently you didn’t comprehend my comment. Read it again and maybe, just maybe, you can see that your comment has NO truth to it. Here this, I said “this very dangerous man has been left to do his dirty deeds for a total, count them, four terms.” So you in your ignorance call me a Rex apologist. I would like to call you an idiot, but I won’t.
QH Holdover says
My comment is filled with truth with one exception. If you truly do believe Rex is a very dangerous man left to do dirty deeds then I owe you an apology. Do you really believe that? I do and so do many others.
If that is the case, I apologize to you and will continue to expose him for the corrupt and dirty politician that he is.
Alexis says
QH Holdover…LOL! Calling Rex a very dangerous man is hardly being a Rex apologist. No where in my comment did I make any excuses for him, if you actually comprehended my comment. He said he was being facetious, not me. Focus!
Brian K. says
QH Holdover: Rex said he was being facetious, not her. Quit accuses when that’s not what she said.
QH Holdover says
I apologize to Alexis if she indeed believes Rex is a very dangerous man. Most people know it. Few do anything about it. Thousands vote for him. Lancaster has a lot of strange people to be sure.
Pastor Raymond says
So Rex says he was only being facetious? Outlandish, dangerous, and insane statements are a pattern with him.
Like a madman shooting firebrands or deadly arrows is a man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I was only joking!” — Proverbs 26:18-19

John Thomas… I agree. I saw this article, and shake my head that the people have allowed this since 2008.
Alexis says
Churches, Synagogues, and Mosques, where there are peaceful gatherings, are under attack all over the world. Yesterday worshippers in a church in Lancaster were robbed of $150.00. I remember the fire bombing of a church in Palmdale.

IAVT says
Happy Friday!
We are IAVT, the Institute for Antelope Valley Truth, a local political watchdog group. As a public service to the good people of the Antelope Valley, we will regularly provide you with facts and information to help you sort through the lies and propaganda that have been part of the political landscape for far too long.
Here’s the quote of the week for your reading enjoyment. It’s from Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris from his interview with Vice.com, talking about his leadership style.
“Am I autocratic in how I do it? Yeah, I am. Are they eventually going to vote me out because of it? Yeah, they will. But what gets left behind, they’re not going to be able to undo.” – Mayor R. Rex Parris.
Some of what Parris is leaving behind includes a legacy of solar field encroachment in the West Valley, a super Walmart directly across the street from Quartz Hill High School, a $10 million dollar payment for LEAPS which is co-owned by one of his major political contributors and supporters, millions of dollars in redevelopment debt, leaving Lancaster with a poor reputation from his multiple lawsuits against neighboring cities and school districts for voting districts he refuses to implement, and currently a rising crime rate.
The entire interview can be viewed here.

Frank says
What an interesting article. His thinking is really strange. His perceptions about people are very skewed. This quote is one example.
“Good things happen when you’re able to increase your Asian population to a certain threshold: Crime rates go down, education levels go up,” Parris told Vice. “Interestingly, the same thing happens with the gays. That’s why I put the new performing arts center right downtown.”
Weird.
John Thomas says
Rex likes to take credit for others work. The Lancaster Performing Arts Center was there long before he came along.
Anon says
Talk about neighborhood blight — Lancaster is going from a “pot” field on one end to a patchwork quilt of solar panels on the other end!
Yep, it seems like our progressive governing body has written a new playbill starring the Wizard of Lancaster and his minion of wild monkeys who, it appears, like to look at their reflections in those myriad mirrors.
Meanwhile, the wizard’s once prolific audience, attracted by affordable housing, the now slowly dimming lights of “The Blvd” and disappearance of abundant seasonal poppy fields, have headed for the hills of the Inland Empire!
Anymore bright ideas Rex?
Alexis says
Well, I see the (get Parris out of Lancaster) Facebook group posts the same thing here. Which is fine, but with all the information you post, and have been posting for years is still falling on deaf ears. Why? because you have more likes than those that didn’t care enough to vote. 11.2% (almost 89%) didn’t bother to vote. It isn’t Rex’s fault, he was, is, and will be Rex. Who’s to blame? You get what you deserve for your apathy.
Alexis says
You posted on Facebook, but 89% of the voters don’t care about your complaining. 11.2% voter turnout is pathetic.
Clyde Barrow says
Welcome you are needed to bring light to these antics. Local media does nothing and he pays off the rest.
Backstabed says
Hypocrite and a know it all Rex is no more than a coward bully with a lot of money. His brother is also part of the same bully coward family.
QH Holdover says
Rob is the sneaky one of the brothers. He try’s to play the good cop and at the same time gets a cut of the blood money. Hypocrite!!!!
Alexis says
IAVT?…Well, you’re quite slow on the uptake. This happened in the beginning of May, 2017. Anyway, this interview happened after he was allowed by the voters to become your mayor for the FOURTH time.
IAVT says
Alexis, how many people in Lancaster do you think even know about this article? It wasn’t reported in the local paper, was it? Of course not. Rex controls them, just like he controls Lancaster and Palmdale councils, AVTA, AVAQMD, AVC, PWD, PSD, AVUHSD, and every other agency in the AV.
Maybe by making it available here on the AV Times, which Rex does not control, people will wake up and vote him out next time.
The voters of Lancaster don’t appear to be very bright.
That is why we at IAVT will be relentless in bringing light on the darkness that is R. Rex Parris.
Alexis says
Well, the truth is that if you go to the (get Rex out) Facebook, you will see that more people know than you think, but choose not to get off their keisters to vote him out. 11.2% voter turnout is pathetic. You and those that have been posting here for years about the state of Lancaster should do something that effect change. The darkness that is Rex Parris wouldn’t be your mayor if the voters actually cared enough to vote. It’s the voters fault for not caring, and if a voter doesn’t care, then that same voter won’t listen to your relentless complaining.
Alexis says
Complainers never accomplish anything. A lot of people know all about Rex, and have for a long time. the truth is that almost 89% didn’t bother to vote, because they don’t care. You keep on keepin on with your constant complaining every day all day, instead of doing something. Too many people like you that just, well, complain. Every one knew about the hit mailer, and still people did nothing. Lazy people that don’t care.
Alexis says
Rex is your mayor because no one cares to vote at all. So it isn’t even a matter of voting him out, because the hypocrites that don’t vote do the most complaining. You’re like vegetarians that secretly eat bacon.
Dave Sanborn says
We here on the east coast, or much of the US, have not heard anything about the AV Hospital incident. We are also aware news media will not cover that violation of rights. Officials are now in the process of placing a blame on those that shared, are now being harassed and profiled by police, the incident by saying “It was staged”. As a retired fire rescue and Combat Vet. Viewing the incident shows NO staging. Ca. officials need to push off and sink into the sea.
Band Wagoner says
My whole family is enjoying your post and look forward to more insights to the world of AV politics. Count me in!
IAVT says
There is so much to bring to light about Rex and his ilk that we will be reporting here for years.
Happiness is a Warm Gun says
Did anyone else catch this quote today by our illustrious vice mayor Marv Crist?
Talking about the fundraiser for the Lancaster Sheriff’s Boosters, the Wise One said, “What we’re trying to do is give our deputies options other than just shoot someone.”
Go back and read that again. “Options other than just shoot someone?” Is he serious?
It’s no wonder why our crime rate in Lancaster continues to rise. We waste millions of dollars on schemes like LEAPS and have leadership with absolutely no clue on what our Sheriff’s do or don’t do.
There is no place on earth like Lancaster.
OH Holdover says
Marvin really bullies the Sheriff Boosters into paying for his projects and at the same time he is meddling with the day to day operations, nothing new. The City of Lancaster has the highest crime rate in North Los Angeles County and its because of this City Council interfearance. They refuse to clean up our City Eastside and they demoralize our own local law enforcement.
Vladmir says
No doubt Marv is dumb, but what about Rex? He is in bed with the Communist Chinese government which is known for its espionage. The latest is the federal probe about Chinese spying at Mar-a-Lago.

The council is spending 5 million from our reserves for those park improvments. Republicans spending like drunken sailors! Reserves are for emergencies not pet projects. The Council have reduced our reserves by 50% for emergency response by the so called fireman Mayor that never fought a fire.
Cynic says
The “fiscally responsible” Republicans in DC just added trillions to the national debt due to Trump’s corporate tax cut. Any sane person knows that Republicans are full of it when it comes to government spending.
East Lancaster says
You need to look no farther than the Antelope Valley to see that Republicans and fiscal conservatism are miles apart. Rex, Marv and the gang in Lancaster love pet projects like LEAPS and start stupid projects like Ecolution. They love government cheese to promote their electric busses even though there are better quality busses on the market. In Palmdale, they’re like kids in a candy store spending taxpayer reserves. Wait until the next recession hits.
