I wouldnt even know where to start. I would like to nominate myself and my wife and two beautiful sons for a chance to find a house to call a place “ Home “. Its hard to find a affordable house/apartment here in the Antelope Valley. Even to find work to afford a place is a travel for myself everyday. If we can get a chance of a lifetime to turn things upside down it would be a blessing to my family. Help Us Extreme Makeover Home Edition

An empty lot has the most potential
Tim Scott says
There actually are buildings that add negative value to real estate, so technically an empty lot has less potential than a similar lot with such a building on it. AV real estate is perhaps on the cusp of that kind of development.
Before my parents house was sold I gave serious consideration to how the property could be developed if I could get hold of the property behind theirs and bridge to the next street, which opens onto a major artery. Get rid of the old houses, build a BIG house on the cul de sac property with a guest house/office and four car garage accessed from the other street, then sell them as a unit. If it weren’t for the really bad city government situation I might have pushed further on that, but with the Wrecks situation it was it was just a passing thought.
It ain't free says
Be careful after the crew comes through and adds value to your home, the tax man comes calling. There was a news story years ago that filmed past home owners who lost their homes after the remodeling. Not only will property taxes go up, but all money spent by the show on the house is taxed to the home owner well over 30%. Start adding up a new roof 15 grand, new appliances 7grand, flooring, counters, windows, ac unit, lumber, then don’t forget someone always did a secret project. Now your easily over 100 thousand dollars in cost. Good old tax man will be asking for at least 33,000 in taxes. if you didn’t have the money before to fix your house chances are you won’t have the money after the IRS sends the bill.

Before getting all excited about getting a “new” home, maybe a “free” home, do your research. Because it isn’t what it seems. This article makes for interesting reading.

Do you help a giving family that rents a home??
Tom says
Stop being greedy. No your not getting your investment property upgraded for free. if your the home owner your just going to turn around and sell the home after you see how much it’s appraised for. Plus it’s for people who are having hard times, like the homes bread winner was killed, someone lost a limb and now wheelchair access is needed. The 70 year old widow who has volunteered at the youth center for 30 years needs better living conditions.
Manuela says
Do you bless people with a house?
Have faith says
Come on dude, Blessed just say it what you really mean give, and no. You have to be a home owner of the home being worked on. The bible says belivers will have their needs fulfilled, but it also says you must work for it. Keep doing God’s work faithfully and you’ll be blessed with a house you worked for someday. The Lord’s people use to be givers, today it seems as all they do is take and want. It’s time to get on the right path, have faith, and watch his work.
