The incident happened around 4:19 p.m. Sunday, April 19, on the 1100 block of West Avenue I in Lancaster, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
“Detectives have learned that deputies assigned to Lancaster station responded to a call of a possible man with a gun. Upon their arrival, they saw someone matching the description in the call and attempted to detain the individual. The suspect fled on foot at which time the deputies gave chase. During the chase, a deputy-involved shooting occurred,” the sheriff’s news release states.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
No deputies were injured during the incident.
“The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information at this time,” the sheriff’s news release states.
UPDATE: The man killed in this deputy-involved shooting has been identified as 36-year-old Richard Lugo, according to the coroner’s office and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Heres some food for thought, if a citizen utilizes the same mentalities as cops do to make quick and important decisions, the cops will demean the person and patronize the person as if the person is trying to be the hero of the hour. If the cop feels inferior to the person who has broken no laws, he’ll grab his gun and badge like if he never had a pair of his own and bring the person to a more inferior level. As for this particularly awful incident, the facts are not yet sufficient for a decent argument. It very well may be that a deputy acted out of emotion, fear, or otherwise and be liable for your diatribe(s), but they are premature until we have more information to base it on. Until then, you merely show that you are unlikely to listen to reason when the occasion eventually comes.

Suspect did have a gun, a very big one at that. I was at the red light on the intersection of Avenue I and 10th st West facing northbound waiting to make a left on I when 2 Sheriff’s pulled into that parking lot from across the street, the way they did so is what caught my attention, It was apparent they were already looking for the suspect. As cops tried to approach him he ran, with the gun in his hand the whole time. It wasn’t concealed, he didn’t throw it, he ran with it. At that point I knew he was a dead man, sad but it’s common sense!
