10 arrested, none for DUI at Palmdale checkpoint

PALMDALE – No one was arrested for driving under the influence, but 10 people were arrested for other violations at a DUI/ driver’s license checkpoint in Palmdale Friday night and early Saturday morning, authorities said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department conducted the checkpoint from 6 p.m. Friday, June 26, to 2 a.m. Saturday, June 27, in the southbound lanes of 10th Street West at Technology Drive, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The results of the checkpoint are as follows:

  • Ten drivers were cited for operating a vehicle while unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license
  • Three vehicles were towed.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will continue to hold DUI/driver’s license checkpoints throughout the year, according to the sheriff’s news release.

“The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired. As businesses continue to reopen, including bars and restaurants, impaired driving remains a top traffic safety concern,” the news release states.

Checkpoint locations are based on a history of crashes and DUI arrests. Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Lancaster CHP STATION on ave I must be sound asleep or stupid because I don’t know why they haven’t had a “checkpoint” in front of their own god damn station….every night you hear these fast and furious wanna be lames going up and down either 20th and I, the god damn freeway, on ave G, where ever they are if I can hear it I know those lazy ass cops ca hear them too. Chargers and Challengers…how do these damn kids afford these cars? Are you CHP guys scared they’ll outrun you? You have chargers too….how about we wait until one of them out there racing kills someone or themselves, THEN run a checkpoint over there right? Pathetic..

  4. If the point is not to make arrests but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired, why are you arresting people for other things instead of sending them through? Because you’re statist whores serving a hostile occupation. Land of the knee, home of the checkpoint. Show papers, goyim.

    • The point is not to make arrests but if they witness a crime (and driving unlicensed or with a suspended license is a misdemeanor), then they must arrest the suspected criminal. The reasoning is simple, if they let the suspected suspended driver through, and he/she gets in an accident down the road, the Sheriff’s department becomes liable for the accident for allowing him/her to continue driving.
