PALMDALE – Following his tour of the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station last week, Congressman Mike Garcia (R, CA-25) presented the second half of his August personal salary donation to the Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Boosters, an AV nonprofit supporting local Sheriff Deputies by providing them with funding for life-saving protective equipment that is not covered by their departments.
“As politicians continue their foolish push to defund our law enforcement and officers are tasked with an increasingly difficult job, these brave men and women continue to come into work every day to make sure our families and neighborhoods are safe,” said Garcia. “Our law enforcement officers make every sacrifice we ask of them, and we must do our part to make sure they have the tools they need, especially as their budgets are slashed.”
Garcia’s contribution to the Boosters makes up the second half of his August donation and follows the recent contribution to the Antelope Valley Veterans Community Action Coalition, another Antelope Valley nonprofit supporting local veterans with health care and financial assistance.
“Thanks to Congressman Garcia’s donation, the Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Boosters will be able to buy more safety equipment and non-lethal weapons for our deputies,” said AV Sheriff’s Boosters President Marvin Crist. “The department does not have the budget to cover some of the necessary resources that help our deputies do such a dangerous job. Especially with the recent cuts, this donation will help us keep our deputies safe as they protect our community.”
Garcia’s August split donation follows his contribution to the Simi Valley Police Foundation in July. Garcia said he will continue to fulfill his pledge to donate the equivalent of 10% of his monthly salary to 25th district non-profit organizations in the coming months as we continue to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

NO THANK YOU says
So the Sheriff Boosters will vote for him? Got it. He does not need a salary, he is bought and paid for by private entities that plan to make a killing if he gets re-elected in November. Thanks but no thanks, this veteran will not vote for sellout Garcia.

I thought I was the only one who thought Garcia was in it for himself when he donated that money.
Well, Speaker Pelosi will likely be leading a majority Democratic house the next 2 years so Garcia will be useless like Steve was useless.

Sounds like the Sheriff Boosters in Palmdale are now under the influence of the Vice Mayor of Lancaster whose City has a much higher crime rate. Poor leadership choice for the AV’s safest City. We were warned that Palmdale would start to look like the unsafe City to the North after Lancaster payed for their elections. Funny they are running for re-election in Palmdale backed by the unsafe City of Lancaster. Republicans behaving badly!

Palmdale City Council could use this salary to prop up the reserves they are spending down on pet projects. they are asleep at the wheel on staying on budget and taking orders from Lancaster. Our city is doomed by bad leadership that calls itself conservative but are followers of the bullies.

B-b-but, Hofbauer thought that under Rex’s devine tutelage it would be blue skies forever and ever.
So, spend the reserves on pet projects to make Hofbauer look like he’s doing something to secure votes and look what happened.
Hofbauer has to go and where are his fans who defended him here a while back?
Hofbauer is AWOL. Does he show up at City Hall any more? A couple of letters and emails in the last 6 months and that’s it.
Maybe he’s only good to be at committee meanings and groundbreaking ceremonies.
How about a real mayor.
East Palmdale says
The Vice Mayor of Lancaster and the Mayor of Lancaster own the Palmdale City Council too. Except for one. Hint: She doesn’t have the huge signs paid for by Lancaster money.

The way Palmdale spends down the reserves only shows they are not republicans at all. Liberal spenders that are not backing the sales tax locally only to give it to another, county or state entity. Besides our reserves are for the upcoming emergency’s that are going to hit us hard, not pet projects.

Like roadway medians on the Westside for the Incumbent council candidates to look good at election time. That decision delayed the road completion and our roadways are still a mess! Save it for the upcoming crisis!!
