L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies accused of covering badges at protest

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is looking into an incident in which some of its deputies allegedly covered up identifying information on their badges during a protest outside the Twin Towers jail on Thanksgiving.

Activists who were protesting outside the downtown L.A. jail Thursday, Nov. 26, said some deputies who showed up in riot gear appeared to have tape covering their identification information, according to CBSLA.

State and LASD policy requires deputies to display their names on their badges.

The department said the deputies may be covered their badges because some activists have published home addresses as part of a harassment campaign.

“Some activists have engaged in doxing LASD employees, publishing their addresses and harassing sworn members in an unlawful attempt to intimidate them. The Department is working on an identification code that complies with state law while ensuring the safety of our first responders,” the department said in a statement provided to City News Service.

And I find it hella funny that a cop says no one protesting will go one on one with them when you guys are the biggest [removed] in the world without backup officers please don’t try to be macho when your the ones violating the law during mass gatherings and are spineless none of your would stop another cop from breaking the law right in front of you and would never stand up for a victim of police brutality. So basically you guys wouldn’t do your job when it matters most so please don’t wonder why communities mistrust the biggest and most brutal gang of them all.

  3. Most protests/demonstrations against law enforcement get violent. Asides from the Covid mask requirement, these cowardly demonstrators would hide behind a mask, like BLM and Antifa. They go after the families of law enforcement, so “why cannot they hide their names and badge numbers when the demonstrators are hiding their faces”? They are protecting their families. These thugs won’t go one on one in an alley. They have to have their partners in crime for backup when they start getting their ass whooped.

    • Nowadays you have to fear the spineless who come to your home and destroy it because you are not of the same tinkling as they, or are just doing your job. The information age has led to a bunch of cowards.
