PALMDALE – A 27-year-old man died Sunday morning after he drove his pickup against oncoming traffic and collided with a vehicle and a semi-truck in Palmdale, authorities said.
The fatal collision happened around 3:42 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 13, on Pearblossom Highway near 65th Street East, according to a news release from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.
“The preliminary facts of this investigation indicate… a 1997 Chevy S-10 driven by the 27-year-old male was traveling westbound on Pearblossom Highway in the #1 eastbound lane, against oncoming traffic. A female adult driver [that] was traveling eastbound in the #1 lane observed the vehicle driving in her lane toward her and swerved to avoid the collision. However, the two vehicles collided, causing the Chevy S-10 to be pushed into the westbound lanes of Pearblossom Highway,” the news release states.
The Chevy S-10 then collided with a semi-truck that was traveling westbound on Pearblossom Highway, and the Chevy’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
Authorities did not say what, if any, injuries were sustained by the other two drivers. The incident remains under investigation.
Anyone with information regarding this traffic collision is encouraged to call the Palmdale Station’s traffic department at 661-272-2400.

Whatever the Chevy S-10 driver was or wasn’t doing, he won’t be doing that again.

Drunk or drugged…

Wrong-way drivers are predominantly suicides. Fairly often the driver will medicate themselves with alcohol or drugs beforehand – but the alcohol or drugs are not really the cause of the crash.
Am hoping that the other two drivers are OK. I know from experiences of others close to me that even if you are uninjured by a suicide driver, the emotional impact can be powerful and long-lasting.

It wasn’t a suicide, he was traveling from fontana, he most likely fell asleep on the road, and he was recently planning to marry his girlfriend and buying a house with her, so I’m sure it wasn’t suicide!!!

Predominately? You have a study that documents that conclusion?
I’d think on limited access, divided highways where drifting across the road is impossible, that they’d still be the result of too much to drink – – and shouldn’t be call suicides unless there’s a suicide note or it was actually mentioned to someone recently.
Where someone can just drive through a median into the oncoming lane, it’s often the result of falling asleep or too much to drink. I saw one of these (a drunk in that case) that happened right in front of a highway patrol. The drunk didn’t die, but the people he hit sure did.

I dont appreciate your rude comments. We are all grieving his loss he was a son,a brother, a sincere friend, and he was my life partner! He was a happy guy everyone loved him, he didnt mean any harm.and if you went out to the scene youd see that the skid marks dont make sense. Ofcourse since hes not here he wasnt able to give a statement!

I am sorry for your loss. However, someone who is driving on the wrong side of the road, often are under the influence of some kind of drug, or alcohol. If that is this case in this situation, that is very inconsiderate of the driver and could have costed an innocent life. Someone’s child, parent, or friend could have lost their life during this accident. The person who was hurt was my friend, and thank god she survived and was able to make it home to her family. It wouldn’t have been fair if something happened to an individual, who was simply driving on the road.
That Guy says
People who commit suicide do not always leave notes, nor do they mention it to anyone before doing it.
