LANCASTER – Fire damaged a Lancaster home Saturday night and one occupant was hospitalized as a result, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, on the 1200 block of Herzel Street, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Flames were showing from the second floor of the two-story house when firefighters arrived, officials said.
Firefighters put out the flames within 16 minutes and paramedics assessed the patient, officials said.
The man was hospitalized for a mental health evaluation, said Lt. Jonathan Hoyt of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station.
Asked whether the man was believed to have set the fire, Hoyt replied “It appears nothing was criminal about the fire.”
