I remember when my friend and I traveled the united states in 1964 as teenagers. We were shocked to see white restrooms and black restrooms; separate drinking fountains, and segregated communities with segregated schools, etc.. We were shocked to hear the vile words coming from the mouths of men and women about people they believed were inferior.
Be The Change says
I wonder who Mr. Rothstein lives and works with. Another phony academic.
Doris says
Considering “blacks” built this God forsaken and not your greedy “white” ancestors you should be more respectful.
OKFine says
Forgot the Irish and Chinese who probably did lots to build this country? Or Poles, or Germans, or Jews?
If this country is “God forsaken” as you say, you’re welcome to go back to the land of your ancestors and thrive or whatever you want.
Funny how the America haters forget how many people from around the world want to come here.
david the AXX says
Ok David, now you are “OKFine”? The difference is that blacks were enslaved, while Irish and Chinese although they were mistreated, they were not forced into a ship in chains. You can’t even begin to compare one group with another. Yes, our country is riddled with embarrassing history that our history books try to hide, but we are all waking up and realizing that it is damned. Karma will come back and make all these repulsive racists pay for what they or their ancestors did, because animals like you have absolutely no remorse. Have a nice weekend David or whatever other name you want to use, we all know you are just another useless Proud Boy- HILARIOUS!
Laughing says
So much selective cherry picking in these types of conversations.
Many people of Chinese and Irish decent were forced to come here by their own countrymen roping them or drugging them and placing them on ships.
Many were forced to labor and basically caged in cells here in this ‘wonderful’ place.
And so tired of ‘the Democrats were’ statements. Yeah and now the ‘Republicans lean’ so friggin what, things change folks. Be on the right side by getting your minds right.
All humans, all Earthlings, all wanting the same basic things… life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!
Really? says
But wait….the democrats want to erase all the history related to…you know history. Apparently they want to erase everything they did in the past so future generations to come will have no idea of their ideals. In 20 years, they are going to want this particular several years erased too. Just do crazy stuff, then erase it all. Sounds fine right?
AV Illegal says
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. How wonderful that would be. Unfortunately we will all be paying through the nose one way or the other to support all the executive order frenzy.
My how things have changed since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Now we are living in the era where we sign the Declaration of Dependence.
AV Illegal says
I don’t see where something that was done so far back is somehow the fault of someone who had nothing to do with any of it just because of their skin color. Sounds racist to me to force someone into reparations for that. I seem to remember back in history black slaves being sold by black slave owners in South America to come to North America. Why don’t we go after them for the reparations. Because they are black.
No problem…..just erase most of it and leave the parts that work for you. Slavery happened. Slavery ended. It was bad. That is why it ended. Get over it. Those asking for reparations were never slaves.
If you want to take up a cause, go fight the current slavery right here in your own country. You have exploited children, slave workshops making the clothes you wear. Unfortunately, those designer clothes are what people like, so they look the other way.
AV Illegal says
Or how Democrats were the major segregationists.
There, now we have race and politics all included here.
Footsteps says
I love all my sisters and brothers of all colors.
